Mayo Clinic Scottsdale Arizona

I have been thinking of moving to Arizona for a year or so and wanted to work as an MT at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.  Are they outsourcing all their work now?  I read some old messages on this board saying the Arizona clinic outsourced some work, but it didn't seem like it was much.  I don't see the MT position open on their web page anymore and wonder if they have filled all positions or are completely outsourcing.  Anyone know?

Mayo Clinic Scottsdale?
Anhy info on MT or QA positions with Mayo Clinic Scottsdale?  Is the test unusually difficult?  What type of relocation costs do they pay?  I would love to hear from anyone who has worked there or is currently working there.
mayo clinic in scottsdale
if you go onto jobing.com and put in zip code 85233, healthcare/medical, you'll see that they mayo clinic is currently hiring for MT's..attractive pay and after three months of training you can telecommute...but you can't apply for it until it has been 7 days since the date of the posting on jobing..so if there was a new posting for an MT today, you'll have to wait until 7 days have passed before it will show up on the actual mayo website.
Worked at Mayo in Scottsdale, AZ
Great place to work, but it is hot as mentioned by someone else. Great benefits, beautiful environment.

Training there is TOUGH!! Once youre through, you will be able to anything you like, and it is a great thing to have on your resume, and it has helped me out tremendously all the way around.
mayo in Arizona too
There are two Mayo clinics in the Phoenix, AZ area as well and I believe there is one in Florida too. Phoenix is a really large city these days. If you can stand the head of summer (4-6 months =  it varies from year to year) the rest of the year the weather is wonderful!!!!
Mayo Clinic Florida

I was their website today and applied for some Med Sec/Trans jobs.  Some of these jobs have on their website for quite awhile, particularly the one in the Neurology Dept.  I'm wondering why they can't fill these jobs.  The salary range is decent and I'm sure their benefits must be good.

Does anyone know about Mayo in Florida?   Any info appreciated.  TIA

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN? Would you relocate to work .....
there?  Would you like to work there?  Would having worked for a place like this look good on a resume?  Just want some opinions here.  Thanks everybody!!
scottsdale
I've applied online, sent resumes twice, called HR, emailed and phoned their MT dept, over the last 4 mos.

I have 20+ years experience, no husband, no kids, completely portable - they have done nothing to contact me about the job.

I think they are just collecting resumes. Obviously, they are not interested in filling the position.
Scottsdale MTSO at it again

This MTSO does not pay.  She will work you for awhile and then disappear when it is time to collect your pay.  She has complaints about her all the way back to 2005.  Not gonna state her name (CB) or atypical business she runs.  STAY FAR AWAY FROM HER.  She posts under aliases.  She's on her way out anyway.

I have a friend who moved out there a year ago and is working for Mayo. She trained at the clinic for about 3 months but is now working at home. I think she saw the ad in the local newspaper.
Mayo - Jax,FL
and then you can enter their MT training program and maybe get do do some docs.  They outsource their work to several companies, they previously did it in-house although not on site.  The facility is top notch, has a hotel and they are almost finished with a huge expansion of the hospital.  Great area to live too, but the jobs are in-house.  They do alot of local career fairs.
Can't say for sure. MAYO, OCHSNER, SARASOTA
If you have no work lately, put 2+2 together. Rads are usually easier so the Palaniyappan Chidambaram folks might not have as many errors.

Be sure to ask for a back-up account. If they don't offer you one or give you one with no work, the Hindu gods are probably very pleased.
DDT - Arizona?
Anyone hear of the company DDT out of Arizona?  I could not find a website or anything about them in the archives.  Any info would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Tammy Arizona - New at Webmedx
Tammy,

As a former trainer at Webmedx (I retired) I must tell you that you are incorrect about typing in a web page. You are typing in Word, even though it may not appear that way.

As far as SHORTHAND, what exactly are you doing when it doesn't work? There are reasons for SH not working and there are very simple fixes built into the SH program. I was the SH instructor so, yes, I do know that it is not the program but rather something the MT does.

I own my own SH program and still use it daily, not just for transcribing. Try setting your Pause (under Preferences) to 20 msec after every 1 character and see if the helps you. You might also check to see what Text Transfer Method you are using, if you are using Clipboard Paste try switching to “keystrokes” although a little slower “pulling in” it is smoother and works every time.

Also, do you have physician normals in your SH program? By putting normals in you can definitely increase your line production.

Do you have regular phrases and all your medications in your SH? If you put in medications, did you also put in the dosing (where possible)?

I would hate to see anyone leave Webmedx. I understand ESLs are difficult - but after a while and with the use of the SH program one can go right along.

Further, if you are having problems getting your line count to 150 LPH (which I voted against but lost - I like 130-140 LPH) have you asked either trainer for help? The trainers are great and they are there long after you have finished your initial training to assist you in any way they can.

I hope you decide to stay!

PS: IMHO three weeks is not a fair trial/assessment - give it about 3 months at minimum.

PHILIS KORTGARD OF ARIZONA DOES NOT PAY

Just wanted to update that the final pay due my friend was AGAIN issued in a FRAUDULENT check.

If anyone sees an ad with Philis Kortgard of Arizona, I strongly urge you to recall the experience of my friend.   After spending a day trying to just communicate with PHILIS KORTGARD OF ARIZONA, my friend was told that the check is no good (uh duh she already knew that) and that it might be good next week.  And that if my friend thinks she has it bad, PHILIS KORTGARD feels she has it worse.  I wonder if the 2 young boys waiting on groceries to be purchased with this money will care if PHILIS KORTGARD is unhappy?

Don't even think of working for Atypical Transcription in Arizona

For your own protection do not even think of working for Atypical Transcription in Arizona.  She does NOT pay.  What a jerk.

Trans Tech has an Arizona account

It's twu!  It's twu!  Good doctors and good lines.  Go for it.

Has anyone worked for AAPT out of Arizona? Any information? nm

The Transcription House out of Arizona, anyone heard of???
I would like any information on this company. I am googling MT companies and am coming up with ones I haven't heard much about. Anyone work for them? Good, bad, ugly??

Can the person with MedTrans say if it's the Arizona or Texas company? Thx. nm

Two are hospitals, one is a clinic. The biggest one is a clinic that only does sm
oncology. We cannot post account names here and do not give out that information until confidentiality forms are signed.

I can tell you that a very, very large oncology hospital will be starting on March 1st that will need 30+ transcriptionists to run smooth.
9 cpl, clinic, 3 yrs exp.

I am getting some clinic but...
I don't want to ask for just clinic because I've always been told I'll have a job longer in this industry if I can do acute care. I'm thinking it's probably in my best interest right now to stick with acute care.
Clinic
That sounds perfect. Is that company hiring? I have over 10 years of experience. Thanks!
Are they mostly clinic or ER?
nm
Do you do clinic or ? nm
>
Clinic
I have done the clinic account from day one, as i did not have access to a serial port, and the other account they were hiring for at the time was on escription, which requires a serial pedal. The Clinic account is on ExText. I have seen a lot of people complain about ExText, but I have had no problems with it, although this may be because I spent the bulk of my career just working directly in word
If you have clinic-only exp, it may be SM

more difficult for you, since very few services will employ someone for only clinic work and you may have to take on acute care, which will be a learning curve.

I think the biggest difference you would see money-wise is if you are getting your benefits from your current job, there is going to be a big shock when you see how much you will have to contribute to your insurance.  PTO/vacation time is much less working from home also.

I don't do clinic, so I can't tell you. nm

clinic mt
I was just hired at 9 cpl for clinic work, 10 years of experience. Very happy
What about OPs in clinic?
I have 4 years of experience working in-house for a local hospital (quit within the last 1-1/2 years). I worked on all work types, discharge, OP, H&P, consults, ER, and clinic. I just have to point out that the clinic work I am doing right now has just as much OP terminology as OPs do themselves. Most of my clinic dictators decide they need to repeat the entire op report in their clinic note, especially the cardiologists.

So to those of you stating that there is a huge difference between the 2, that might be the case for some, but definitely not for all.

Clinic work

Amphion has both clinic work and acute care.  They are wonderful to work for, and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Hello, I am looking for a PT clinic position (sm)
Either IC or statutory or even PT employee - I'm not a huge producer - I only need like 600 lines a day.  Prefer oncology and flexiblity and all over the net.  Hopefully, decent pay range 8-10 cpl.  Anybody know of a good place?  I've checked the job boards but word of mouth is usually a better way I've found in the past.  Thanks!
I am FT clinic if that helps! We need a few more
FT MTs on the account I am on due to them adding 15 docs to us.
Clinic work
Can anyone tell me companies that have clinic work?
I did not do just clinic work. SM
I worked at a large teaching facility of 800 beds. I did everything from speech therapy, pain clinic, wound care, surgery, H&P, consults, discharges, physical therapy, letters, oncology, you name it. This was a huge facility. And a teaching facility to boot! I was never rude to the woman or anything of that nature. She actually told me that she lays in bed all day with her laptop doing this work. Maybe she fell out of bed the day I interviewed with her, and it put her in a bad mood. :)

All worked out well in the end because I ended up getting a managerial position that pays $52/year along with incentive and overtime.
Are you hospital or clinic?
x
QT & EFD do; QT is IC only; not sure about EFD, but was offer 0.07 for clinic. nm

I went from clinic to acute

I worked for about 10 years as an IC for clinc work, then lost my account (like you).  I got a job in house at my local hospital and also applied with a national for PT work at home with a teaching hospital.  Things were slow going at first, having to look a lot of things up, etc.  I left the in house job after a couple years to be at home full time again.  Being in house helped a lot because of having the other girls to help and I also learned the ins and outs of HIM dept.  Poster below is correct about teaching hospitals being difficult.  But if you are going to learn acute, you have to do them.  I find the work very interesting.  I now work at home as a full time employee for a teaching hospital and couldn't be happier.

See what companies will test you for acute care even though you don't have experience.  I passed my test by a national.  The test took me a while, looking things up, etc, but it was worth it.  Just remember things will be slow for a while.  I only did about 150 lines an hour in the beginning (now I am at 300+).

Don't think she does a vet clinic, must be a mixup
nm
Will be on multispecialty clinic...
having never done radiology, but years of clinic work!  Will be working on c-phone which is also something new for me.  learning learning learning!
acute/clinic
clinic is not like ER, pays less than acute, you may have a few ESL in any clinic company, and is different from acute in that you have all different specialties who have different word lists, from ENT to dermatology to pediatrics, etc., and once you learn them, make macros or normals, you can make more LPH.
