I get half the number of reports I request each sm
download, and then I have to call and ask for more work. Of course, then I have to wait for it, sometimes it never comes in, and I give up after waiting 45 precious minutes. Could this be why there were problems with TAT--that MTs weren't getting the work DURING THEIR REGULARLY SCHEDULED WORKDAYS??

The OP could have been me posting. I voiced my sadness to this company using the very same words.

I am sick about this.

I won't be defending this company here anymore, either. I've found that indifference helps to mend wounds such as these.

Equifax ... and credit reports
All,

My brother is a lender for a national bank. Running credit reports can hurt your credit. Doing credit reports are considered credit applications. Please be very careful...
don't worry, these kinds of heated threads always die down in a couple of days
x
good for you; those kinds of companies will never be stable
/
I detest companies saying these kinds of things about current/former
How can you possibly KNOW that those who are _still with us_ are _very happy, blah, blah_? Are you telekenetic? Did you have lie detector tests performed? Perhaps they speak ill of you and you just are not aware of it. Perhaps they feel they have no alternative but to stay with your company but wish they could leave. How do you know what it is your employees honestly feel or think and then speak for them? Did they collectively ask you to do so?

I'm shaking my head at how you just don't seem to get it. This isn't the first time you've been offered the words I offer you today.

I know many MTs will bash companies here and I cannot explain why I feel this way, but when a company comes on and _defends_ itself in this manner, it turns me against ever having anything to do with it. This isn't the first time IMHO you should have left things alone and let outsiders come to their own conclusions.

MTs who are in the know, know where to find information, how to break it all down and make informed decisions for themselves. I don't want to contact you...you brought yourself into my arena and the lions are feeling hungry these days.

Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience. (nothing personal, just a quote I enjoy)
Yeah they dock you a days pay if they want to. not fair.
:(
Btw, it is also legal for companies to share credit
x
Which companies require credit checks?....
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but requiring drug tests, background and credit checks smacks of total disregard for my privacy. It is disrespectful, to say the least, not to mention insulting.

If an employer feels justified to approach me with implied suspicions that I may be a drug addict, criminal or a deadbeat on my way IN the front door, no telling what lies in store for me once I step through it.

I do not bring my personal life to my job and would never consent to what amounts to an administrative strip-search by giving an employer free access to my private information. If they ask for this, it tells me they have nothing to offer me.

I am currently doing a job search and would love to know which companies are doing this, so as not to waste their time or mine.
companies that I have found that are fair and flexible

which companies pay fair line rate with designated accounts? nm

Any companies hiring for op reports?
My company seems to have dried up.
There are only 2 companies worth considering these days
Axolotl and TransTech.
It is 90 days, just like the majority of companies. (nm)

Most companies these days require
employees to work at least 1 weekend day. T think any of them would be delighted to have someone who wanted to work both.
Raises and Companies These Days ~
It seems to me that companies want to continue to make the same amount they've always made off of their MT's, times are tight, you will lose out before they do. And, unfortunately, you are replaceable. If they lose good, loyal MT's because of their practices, they probably shrug. It's not like it used to be. No gold watches or, for that matter, being paid what you are worth. :(
Most companies these days require a
weekend day, even hospitals require at least 1 a month if not more. It is the norm. This is a 24/7 job, 365 days a year.
Need health ins in 30 days ..what companies have that benefit?

Hi, I really need health insurance faster than 90 days.

Does anyone know the companies that offer it effective in 30 days?  I have seen a few advertised but can't find them.

any help would be appreciated ... thanks in advance

That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
Companies (not just MTSOs) have 90 days to put the money into 401k accounts. sm
It has to be done by the end of the 90 days. My husband's runs about 89 days and he is not an MT. He is a union electrician.
where they 35 comparable reports - or 35 short and 35 long reports? nm
x
They have both kinds of accounts...nm

Two kinds of flames
flame icon beside a post on MTStars means it is a hot topic (I believe 200 or more hits)

The job hoppers are 2 kinds-SM

The first is the person who really does this for extra money and isn't too serious about it.  They have a 2nd income from spouse, don't need insurance, etc.

The second group is a minority in the MT community, but is responsible for the perception that most of us are job hoppers.  These people are kind of off--and by that I mean personality-wise, don't like being told what to do, very demanding, prima donna kinds of MTs with very dramatic lives.  They need the money, but they also have a personality disorder that makes them upset at any kind of direction given and they also believe they have superior skills to most MTs and deserve to be catered to.

THAT group is the group who posts that they stayed at XX Company for 1 or 2 weeks, got fed up with something and left, stayed at XX Enterprises for a month, got fed up..cycle continues.  I am not talking about not getting paid-that's a real problem.  I am talking about people who live in such chaos that they cannot really settle down enough to work for ANY company for long and they also don't recognize that the common denominator in the job changes is THEM.

try OSI. they have all KINDS of accounts
I adore it there.
What kinds of accounts did you have in which you could average 250-350 lph?

I've been with MDI for years now and have worked on the same hospital account for years also.  The best I can get is an AVERAGE of about 200 lph.  Sure, I get the occasional 250 lph here and there, but I can't say I average that on a daily basis by any means.  The only time I've ever actually averaged 250-350+ an hour was with ER or radiology work, and it wasn't at MDI either.

At 11 cpl and averaging 250-350 per hour, that would put you around $30+ an hour.  I find it hard to believe anyone would really quit a job making this kind of money, and I wonder if you were really able to manage this working on hospital accounts or was it some other type of work?

Of course, you are right. Just wondering what kinds of accounts .. sm
like when they answered cancer hospital below. Anyway, it sounds like too new many accounts at once. I'd probably get stuck with 2 or 3 accounts at once, i.e., too risky for me. I even received an email inviting me to test. I had worked there before, and I realize this email went out to a whole group of people, but I just think I'll pass.
Then what kinds of questions should we ask on this forum?
?
You got that right. Focus has their hands in all kinds of
cookie jars. I'm glad to know this though. Considering a QA position with them.
In addition, all kinds of innuendos .sm

by them (i.e., sexual; suicide, etc) before any sort of investigation, autopsy, or in short, before they know the facts.

Hats off to his brother, Keith, for demanding an FBI investigation.

wow TT hires alll kinds...

Typing ER reports and radiologogy reports
are completely different with regards to pay. For typing regular reports, that is a very fine line rate. For typing radiology reports, it would be horrid.
eMTS uses several kinds of software. Ask when you apply. nm

Anyone else finding difficulty doing testing with your foot pedal. I am having all kinds of
problems and cant seem to test in Express Scribe with my foot pedal.  Am I going to run into this same problem every time I apply somewhere.  I cant do the test without a pedal because it is very long with fast dictators.  Even to use and keyboard keys is very difficult so I gave us actually.
Want to call you all kinds of management but showing them, no response at all. zzzzzzzzz

You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments

who is it you are trying to locate at medquist, i am an MT there presently, perhaps i can help

I have had accounts request a certain MT

off because of quality issues, although why they made it to the client I'm not sure as they should have been caught in QA.

I JUST POSTED A REQUEST!!!
There are two TN MTSOs who seem to have a problem with their 401K. Help if you have any problems or know of them.
request to fingers
Hi fingers. If you dont mind, I am out of work since April and trying to find somewhere paying okay. I left Medquist and they called me asking to come back. I am desparate at this point and am thinking about it. How do I contact e-MTS. HEEEELLLLLP. Here is my email address: baker699@adelphia.net
I would definitely request a max. of 5 specialties. SM
I have no idea who you work for, however I do not think it is unrealistic to request a reduction in the number of specialties that you work on. Any intelligent MTSO would certainly want to accommodate an MT in this regard. After all, it only increases your production, thus increasing the TAT to the client. Unless you work for a big national (won't mention names) and working in a cesspool mess, then there is just poor business sense. What can it hurt to ask, and if they don't accommodate you, look elsewhere. I have been in a situation similar to yours (15 specialties), but no matter how proficient I became with each specialty, I was never able to make good money. I was constantly transitioning back and forth from different templates for different specialties, in addition to different templates for different doctors (even if working on the same specialty), looking up doctors addresses, etc. I moved on, and luckily with the number of years experience that I have, I specified my need for a few steady accounts before I signed on the dotted line. Good luck, but don't settle for less than you are worth.
I sent a request for their website and
this is what he gave me -

www.medi-task.com.
Is is ever appropriate for an MT to request a raise?

Would anyone who has requested a raise be willing to share their experience with me?  How long were you with the company before you asked for a raise?  Were you an IC or an employee?  What was your company's response in general?  If you were granted a raise, what was considered before it was given to you?  Time in?  Quality of work?  Production?  Attitude/flexibility?  Coming up on my 1 year anniversary an IC and would like to ask for 0.05 cent/line raise, but don't know if I should even consider doing so.  Would not want the company to lower their opinion of me/punish me for asking.  Your kind, and most importantly, nonsarcastic responses are greatly appreciated.  This is a sincere post.

Exactly! And I did request results...
of my testing or a more definitive answer and received no reply. I learn new things every day--sometimes things that I have been doing incorrectly. If it was, indeed, a timed test...I was screwed because I checked EVERYTHING. I have even submitted a copy of what I typed (Yes, I copied and pasted to a Word document) to my current supervisor and asked her to point out my errors. She found none and I feel better:)
Just like I had a client request
each day.  I said absolutely not as I am an IC and I am not available sometimes before 4 p.m. and also may not have the work complete.  Once the doctor found out, he was definitely agreeable to my take on this situation as opposed to his office staff.  You see, sometimes, the office staff whether it be for your own private client or for a company will try to get over.  I also informed this office staff that I would have to be an employee for that as well as paid an hourly rate in order to be on call.  I work by production at my own leisure.  I give them the turnaround they would like, but that includes delivery.  The physician has not and will never have a problem with that; it's the office staff that wants to see me sweat because remember they think we have it made.  Without benefits, I call my own shots.  Like or not, the client/MTSO contracting with you must give you that right OR make you an employee if they'd like to demand things.   All in a day's work!
Does an MTSO have a right to request..
My credit report/score?? I have applied for an employee position with a company that actually has decent reviews here. The company wants me to grant permission for them to access our personal financial information. My husband and I discussed it and have decided against this based on the simple fact that our my credit report has absolutely no relevance whatsoever with home-based employment. I could understand it if I was working in a field related to finance, handling money, or even dealing with the public. I don't have anything to hide. It's just the principle.

Can I be denied employment for not allowing them access to my CR? Anyone else experience this?

TIA!
Tell them you will comply with their request
start emailing you every time the well runs dry, stating why that happened and what corrective actions are being taken to remedy the situation. Be sure to emphasize the requirement to inform you precisely when the next reports will appear and how much work you will be able to find on the system at any given hour on any given day.

Sheesh! If it were me, I'd stay put just as long as it takes to get something else lined up and then submit your final email and tell them toodle-loo.
Can you request certain job types...sm

Do they let you request certain job types?

My favorite type of job is operative notes and I would be more than happy to take them off everyone's hands. My ideal day would be operative notes (with an occasional psych eval and ER note mixed in). I dream of the days when I could work without a set schedule on the work types that I liked on ONE account. Those were the days.

I'm been with MQ for almost 10 years and right now I'm in the cesspool of 25+ different hospitals; never having the same doctor; I just talked to my supervisor on the phone for the first time ever last week (and she's been my supervisor for 8 months now); haven't had a raise in 5 years despite asking every year. I've stuck it out for the last 3 years being unhappy because I felt fortunate to be able to work from home. I finally got mad enough this past week that I put my resume out and now I have 3 different companies to interview with in 2 days.
