It's not illegal and it is not uncommon. Many employers administer psychological tests such as the MMPI and others.  There is nothing unusual about this.  This is the first time I have heard of an MTSO giving one.  Calling it a psychiatric test is incorrect. It's a psychological test.  These tests are given to determine an individuals mindset.  They are usually true false.


Ex. question.  People are often out to get me  T   F


                         I enjoy being the center of attention   T F


They generally make the same statements over and over throughout the test but rephrased.  I think the person who refused is over reacting.  She should have taken the time to find out the content of the test.
