Rather than all those phone calls, why doesn't MQ just do things legally and mail out

defining company policies and procedures, benefits, etc. It seems they just don't want to be legal and upfront with their MT's.

What company does not have an employee handbook outlining their policies and procedures, etc. As of late, MQ does not put much of anything in writing -- even the supes will not respond to our questions by imail, but always calls us back via phone. These phone calls really need to be recorded when this happens. Telephone conversations seem to be all the proof of ANYTHING that we MQ MT's have anymore. Have you ever heard of a company that will not respond to emails. MQ has gotten really bad about this in the last year or so. I would much prefer a company to put things in writing.

Well, I never heard back from them, even after I sent tons of e-mail and personal phone calls
And, I am sure I nearly aced the test. Very simple.
phone calls
Is anybody transcribing for Steve who had the 15,000+ 3-5 minute phone calls between docs and patients, I believe? Just wondering if your making good money or not? Thx
phone calls
Oh my God I am and no I'm not making good money. I wish I had never started this job!!!How many did you get? I got 500 and I have a full-time job?
well, what do you want...phone calls?
They have to get you when they need you somehow.
That explains my unanswered phone calls. nm

Make the right phone calls and report her

It took me 9 weeks and 2 phone calls to get my check.
I had to leave voice mails and no calls ever returned, but I finally got my check.  I knew someone who was still waiting after 12 weeks.
company does not answer e-mails or phone calls

Hi guys,

Just wondering if any of you have experienced this.  I use to work for this company full-time.  I went to part-time because we were running out of work and I decided to go back to school (because I am tired of this game with having work and then running out).............

Anyway when I dropped to part-time, my insurance was cancelled (which I know happens) but the premiums are still being taken out of my check.  I have 2 checks now with those premiunms being taken out.............I have called payroll and left e-mails (this lady never responds)............now I am thinking this illegal...........

Feedback please.  I would like to stay on with this company part-time but...........

All of the WORK RELATED emails, IMs, phone calls, etc...sm
Up until 05/13, I was a production paid MT that was expected to work a very structured, 6.5-hour shift that was to be performed from 9a-4p. HOWEVER, the constant disruptions that came from my supervisor and other staff members (mandatory IMs, emails, phone calls, on-line meetings, etc) was considered non-productive and had to be made up. It took me 8 to 10 hours a day (on a good day) to get in 6.5 hours of transcription! I was then accused of not sticking to my schedule because many of those hours were done in the evening (after the office went home) and I was finally left alone.

Could you even try to imagine anyone else (regardless of profession)being told to stay after their shift was over to make up any time spent performing work related tasks? It doesn't happen and never will!

Why are we expected to be so grateful to be at home when the only difference is demographics? Oh, and maybe a water cooler...

Posts from Aug. say hounded by phone calls all day, micromanage your time, and

That is a shame - maybe he/she will e-mail you again with the resume or phone number. nm

I didn't even receive the courtesy of an e-mail, phone call, etc. sm
I thought the test was very easy. I've got 18-years of experience, sent a cover letter (that I spent an hour on) in addition to my resume and got not response whatsoever. The least an MTSO could do is say, Thanks, but no thanks. Daily applications, cover letters, and testing without so much as an email is beyond frustrating!
E-mail me if you would like, keep me posted if things are working for you.

Mailed on 9/30. Mail doesn't deliver everywhere at
the same time, silly! Takes a little longer to get some places than others.

Just another typical gripe for no reason.

Not Legally
Legally, I'm bound to not tell you who this company is...but anyone in the MT business has heard of this company, so I'm sure that your first guess about who this is, is right! (I don't think that violates my agreement.)
The legally cannot do that without your authorization
If they did not have you sign a form authorizing them to check your credit report, then that is completely illegal, and I would definitely be going after that company!
In an IC position, they cannot legally
hold you to a schedule or lines. You work when you want, if and when they have work available. You have the right not to work. If there is a schedule/line requirement/or hour requirement then should be considered employee.
Legally, though, you can lie and misrepresent and
what you're saying? I know ethically to expect nothing.  I guess I used that term too often. I don't expect any business to be ethical any more, but I do expect them to hide their unethical behavior.  I still can't help but think that it has to be illegal in some way, some law somewhere in labor board land, that a company cannot misrepresent itself by posing as an employee and making -- false -- claims about their company, i.e. the lies.  That's the part that I am just going to pursue as long as I can -  For instance with myself, I share with others in the industry and others who know me and ask, the BS with the company I worked for.  It was the entire MT nightmare scenario rolled into 1 job.  Everyone shakes their heads and wonders how I found this place, and I share how we have forums on the internet and I had only read praises for this company for a solid year.  Well, turns out the praising posters for a solid year are not the MTs, not one.  So, to me, that was unethical and I still believe illegal.  I'm tired of the bait-and-switch BS, and as long as I have it in writing, I'll try to find someone to help me.  If just one MTSO got in trouble for lying on the internet, maybe others would take notice.  I know the MTSOs certainly try to get the MTs to be made scapegoats and lots of companies go to no ends to stop internet blogging, etc, about their companies. Well, the same should go for them when they lie and misrepresent, while posing as an MT.  I think I need a drink, don't you agree?  Too bad I have to work in an hour, but I'll make up for it at midnight.  I'll have a double! Anybody care to join me? LOL
Only way to save reports legally is if the
client request you too. If, heaven forbid, you are burglarized and your computer taken, then everything is out there for the world to see potentially. I would be fired in a heartbeat if I saved reports I did for my employer.
I am sure she was legally bound not to say anything about the sale until it was complete. That is s
business by the person who owns the business and the person who is purchasing it. She built her business, paid people for the work they did (does not owe anyone more than that), sold it and moved on. Why is it so hard for anyone to understand and why make it personal?
i'm legally bound not to talk about it specifically. but it's the same
just know everything you look up is documented. Sorry I can't elaborate and I didn't mean to be cryptic --I would love to tell everybody what happened but I don't want to be prosecuted.
Legally, they cant give health insurance to SEs or ICs. They tried that before and had to stop it.

I've got a question about contracts. How legally binding are they?

I was reading the MDI discussion below and a couple of ex-MDI MTs have said that their contracts were changed while they were still employed forcing them to work different days, different schedules, etc.  I worked for JLG not too long ago and they basically did the same thing.  I signed a contract stating a certain wage and then they basically breached the contract and completely changed my wage.

So what are the deal with contracts anyway?!?!??!?!?!  Why do we bother to sign them if the companies aren't honoring their side of it?  And shouldn't the MT be able to take legal action against an MTSO that has breached their contract?  Shouldn't there be legal ramifications?  The MTSOs make sure to put in noncompete clauses in the contracts so we don't steal any of their clients and try to scare us into believing that if we try to steal their clients, they'll sue, but then they completely disregard the fact that they signed the contract and they could be sued for not meeting their end of the deal!

I HAVE HAD IT!!!!  These MTSOs are getting away with too much!  I have a file folder the size of a freaking PDR with nothing but contracts I've received throughout my career as an MT and I'd bet that if I sit down and go through them, not one of the MTSOs honored them.

Worked on C-phone for 10 years with 1 phone line

How do I access MQ Internet mail? I'm registered on Q-Net but don't see any e-mail thingie the

C-phone - I purchased a c-phone from someone in Oklahoma but never got it. *sm*
First she told me her grandmother died. Then she told me she mailed it. Then she told me her daughter was having chemotherapy. Call me naive, but I thought she was sincere and cannot imagine anyone using their daughter as an excuse. If this is the same person from Oklahoma, I sure would like to know about it because now I want my money back.
I didn't get the e-mail but I just sent you one and gave you my e-mail addy so (sm)

you could manually type it in and resend me the info.  Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks.

I don't have a second phone line ... cable modem for the internet, regular line for my C-phone.

If anyone wanst to get through to me while I'm working, they have my cell phone number.

And, as I said, some accounts are using wav files -- no doubt soon all of the accounts will convert.  Hope so ... would make it easier (less expensive) to work when traveling.  :-)

Lots of good companies out there -- hope you find one that fits :)

Doesn't apply if your OSI account doesn't use Ichart.
It is the Ichart only for OSi where you are cheated.
Yes - regular mail and my reg mail stinks, so let them know.
nm
I tried it, but it kept dropping my calls. nm
nm
Ah, so you are the reason I got so many calls
about my schedule and getting stats assigned to me allll day long!!  LOL!  You know who I am, basically in the same boat, and that I applaud them for the same understanding you described
conference calls

I hate them, hate them, hate them.

I have worked a few places where conference calls were utilized and INVARIABLY they covered things that could easily have been covered in a memo, in a couple of paragraphs even, only the call would last half an hour to an hour.  They were always a COMPLETE waste of time.   Paid or not, they were just unbearable.

Conference calls
This just goes to show that not all things suit all people. As for me just give me the work and LEAVE ME ALONE! If there is something I'm doing wrong by all means tell me. One of my new accounts I WAS doing something wrong because I didn't understand how to attach a deficiency. I received a very nice e-mail telling me how it was done and I sent back one saying to let me know if I was still doing it wrong. Got back a very nice e-mail (from Q.A.) telling me to do #1, #2, #3. I got it. Nothing more needed. As for conference calls, I MIGHT tolerate one once a year, IMHO a total waste of my valuable time. I'm happy for you that you went back to your former employer, by all means BE HAPPY, whatever it takes.
No more calls, please. We have a winner.
nm
I thought in one of the calls they
said we would be staying on the accounts we are on with the same platform!? I must have totally misunderstood that... Did anyone else think that, too, or was it just me??
how do you get calls from "all over the country" sm
if you don't advertise or anything? Wow, you must be out of this world!
Has anyone that has posted your resume on here ever gotten any calls out of it or what should I
expect.
Poopy.. why don't you just tell the person that calls
that you already worked 40 hours for the week? Is that so hard?
LATE NIGHT CALLS

Call blocking instructions are in your phone book.  These vary from company to company.  Check you phone bill and see what numbers they are using (probably more than one line there).  If this fails and they keep calling (imagine how many lines they actually have) then send them a formal letter stating your problem with their phone harrassment and the exact days and hours of their callsand cc it to all their clients.  Maybe they are hurting for transcriptionists and hope you have changed your mind by now or that, gee, now that you're awake you might as well type?   If anything, this should cure you of them forever and everyone who read your post will remember!  I once had a friend (actually a really nice lady) who had a similar problem (although ot with SPi) that went on for a year.  They woke up her kids and husband, her dog, her cat and she looked so bad from lack of uninterrupted sleep.  That  was in the olden days before caller ID and call blocking.  She finally had another friend convince her to hand out THEIR numbers to car salesmen and insurance salesmen, etc.  That was really harsh, but the calls she got soon stopped and it was apparent that because they stopped that all along they were consciously and deliberately calling her.  Another tactic might be to change your phone number.  Good luck.

Yes we got paid for conference calls
.
I always get paid for conference calls.
xx
Well, we seem to get nothing but pladitudes on the conference calls, sm
so honestly, I was hoping to get some sort of info on here. There are a lot of DSGers who are upset and frustrated and could very well jump ship. Then they will have no one but newbies and what will that do to the TATs. I seems to me that a little honesty about what is going on and what is being done about it would go a long ways towards fostering loyalty. Of course, that is just my opinion.
Yeah, the recruiter calls me up,
calls me by my first name and starts chatting. (I wonder who on earth she is?) When I finally establish that she is an SGS recruiter and start asking serious questions she becomes rude and I tell her thank you but I really am not interested. Guess she forgot to go to charm school.
When I worked with her, she made calls

to people when there were backlogs to get more help.  She used to ask me what she could do/offer me to get me to come onboard full-time, so I always figured she was in upper management in order to be able to offer that.

We find out how much of a pay cut on the calls tomorrow.
It'll go the way of the others, no more than 50%.
Not always an option; my supes don't want calls at either of my MTSOs. nm
nm
Sounds a lot like the Webmedx conference calls.

The short answer is because we get the backlash from these. We get calls from MT's who sm
have had a bad experience somewhere and act like we owe them the world, even though we have never even talked them before. I don't lurk on this board. I come here for information and make posts and help on the word boards. I come to find out about changes such as new equipment and software and opinions on different software.

Perhaps we are all generalizing too much. My request would be for MT's to realize that all companies are not bad and while you may have a bad experience somewhere, it does not mean that you will have the same experience at my company.

Generalizing all Mom-and-Pops together is also not fair. Everyone has to start small and some of us plan on growing. Right now, I have 20 MT's but I want to double that or even triple that and I come here to find out the best ways to get and keep employees. It would be nice to ahve someone come to me and say that they are looking for a change without assuming we are going to be as bad as the company they just left.
Were their new venture capitalists, er, partners, on the calls?
Should be very interesting.
As an PT EMT I can assure you playing hrs of euchre during calls
