Most of them do - You would be surprised.....
how many are doing it that have not come out.
I am surprised a lot of the MTs
at Heartland did not follow Tracy to Transtech.
I'm surprised
about Trinidad because their website states they do not outsource.  They seem to be very family oriented and all that as well from what I read.  I do know the accounts have 12-hour windows and the scheduling is flexible within that time frame.
I was surprised
that it was mentioned that they pay some of the MTs in India as independent contractors.
With what I know of them, I would not be surprised
about anything that they do.
Why are you surprised?
What are the names of some professional organizations who require that you live in the US in order to join?
Are you surprised???
They don't care if you have work or not. Their only concern is keeping the reports within TAT. They don't care if you quit as a result. They will just post more ads here and more suckers will apply and get hired to take your place. DSG is the pits.
Really? I'm surprised because
work has been really slow on all my internet accounts for well over a month and I've not been able to make lines. But I love MDI, so I'm hanging in there.
Are you surprised?
I would guess that 90% of MTSOs read this board. They would be dumb not to know what is being said about their companies.

This is a public board that most MTSOs know about. There are probably just as many MTSO owners/managers/and other suits on this board as there are MTs.

If you'd notice, YOU are the only person who posts here with your full name. Most people know that MTSOs read these posts.
not surprised
How do you find things out like this?
I wish I could say that surprised me, but...
sadly I can't. So many things about this industry seem to be going down the tubes.

I first got into this because it seemed so secure. After all, people are always going to need doctors - right?

That part is still true; unfortunately, though, those doctors don't seem to need us anymore.

I wonder if anything is going to be able to pull us out of this awful downward spiral we all seem to be trapped in.
I'm not surprised
Watch out - they are vague about everything, and expect you to magically know everything then fuss at you or terminate you when your QA is 100% after a week. One friend who worked for them was done that way. they are rude jerks as well.
I am really surprised - sm

You do not have to associate yourselves with AHDI. There is information on how to contact your state representative.  There are other links there.  I am not a supporter of AHDI, but I thought you would see that that information is useful.  It is convenient.  Get off your duffs and write!  A lot of good it's doing you to get on this board and slam AHDI.  So what?  Not exactly constructive behavior.  I would be willing to bet that not one of you who has responded has done anything but whine and form and share useless opinions.

Not surprised
I contacted them about a Rad position, they said it was filled. Then they called back and said there was an opening, to take the test. After I did this and passed, I was then told there was no opening. Question: Do recruiters make commission on each person test and interviewed?

Not surprised in the least.

I'm somehow not surprised but....
Have you also tried to email D and your liaison and anyone else in the upper ranks to see where all the work went? If you've read the thread below, you'll see several of us have tried but our emails go totally ignored.

I'm also wondering if you and Fatcat are on the same account(s). Out of the blue her accounts were quite suddenly chock-full last night and we kind of suspected that work would disappear today.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. If it's any consolation, know that you are most assuredly not alone in your catfish, bottom-feeder feelings. We're all right there with you.
What are you surprised about? I know several MTs and
There is nothing wrong with this. It is on the American compound. It is a tax-free (or at least it used to be) excursion. You sign a contract. They pay for your round-trip travel there/back at the beginning and end of your contract plus usually 2-3 more trips within the year. They usually provide paid housing on the compound, etc.

?

Not surprised
I am with you. I think you have called the situation correctly. MDI/Transcend will drop the shoe when it is convenient for THEM. If anyone thinks they really care about the needs of their MTs, review in your mind the events of the past, say, six months. Did you have enough work? Were you given flimsy excuses? Were you promised that things would be fine for once and for all in September? Indeed, SAD, but also, APPARENTLY TRUE. I will never trust another MTSO again. Ever.
long distance?
Do you have to pay long distance? how do you receive and send work? Do they hire part-time? Can you have dialup?
thank you
Long distance?
Do you have to pay long distance and if so, doesn't that cut into your pay? Thanks.
Will most probably need to pay long distance too.

I ordered Vonage but it didn't work for me either with a Lanier or with a C-phone.  Neither would connect to the hospital's dictation system with Vonage.
Yes, but don't you have to pay for long distance?

Long distance?
I see some ads that sound good, but then I find out you need unlimited long distance and turn away. Do you MTs who work for companies requiring long distance find the long distance bill to take a lot from your pay, or is it not that bad? Also, I have tried Onesuite in the past and it kept disconnecting me. Very frustrating and impossible. What LD do you use that is a no hassle, easy set up, not a big chunk out of pay situation? Thanks!
Do you need long-distance and do sm
they accept satellite connection? Thanks!
You mean you had to pay for own long distance?

I pay $30 a month for my ULD through cable phone and make about $200 a month more at MDI than when I was at MQ for the same amount of lines, so yes, it's worth it to me.
Help - KS/ATT long distance (sm)

I just started with Keystrokes and changed by ATT to unlimited long distance as account does not have 800 number - I received a letter stating I am using it not in a way of residence service.  Did anybody else have this problem?  What did you do?

Thank you!

Long distance --
Keystrokes has many different transcription platforms they use. Its very simple if your account is a dial in and the facility does not have a 1-800 number you need unlimited long distance. It does not have to be Bell South, ATT, Vonage or any particular company it just has to be secure and work.

I know of many KS transcriptionists that use their residential unlimited long distance with no problems and are still using it with no problems.

Then there are those like me I have Vonage and after a year or two they contacted me to let me know I needed to upgrade to a small business Unlimited line because my usage was not consistent with that of a residential line which at $50 is still cheap in my opinion.

Unlimited LD is like lots of other things, some MT's will have no problems whatsoever using their residential lines and the some will be told to upgrade or change almost immediately. It also depends on how many hours a day you work and if you are ditz like me and forget to hang up at the end of my shift and so I have 16 18 hour phone calls (big red flag).

Also the business makes it easier to explain to my accountant for taxes.

Long distance sm

On my hiring papers I remember there being a place that I had to mark if I had unlimited long distance.  It didn't say what type of long distance.  I'm using my digital now and having no problems though there are hesitations every once in a while but technology will catch up (of that I am confident).  I don't remember seeing a post below about not using AT&T but having to use digital but I don't see them saying that.  As a matter of fact, one Tech I talked to a while back (not from Keystrokes) said that he heard there were problems using VoIP.  However, except for the hesitations, I have not been having any problem.

As for everything going digital...Yes...it will happen is my prediction.  Where my brother lives in Southern California there already is no more option of the traditional analog phone line.  There is only VoIP available.  They are often wiring new houses now only with VoIP, not the traditional phone lines - or sometimes both.

Long distance

Any new info on Unlimited Long Distance.  I have just signed on with MDI.  ATT giving me Unlimited plan but they will monitor my calls.  They said they would send me a letter if I do not meet their restrictions??  For business plan, you have to be dialing more than 1 number for it to quality... so confusing....

I am really surprised to hear this.
When you say your pay is always late...have you looked at the postmark date to see if it was mailed on a payday Friday? It may take 3 days for me to get it but it is always mailed on time. These are the most professional and aboveboard people I have ever worked for. Why is your pay always wrong? Do you type or QA? Did you make them aware of the problems with your check?
I am surprised anyone still works for them!

I am surprised about the low pay posts below as
when I applied with them, they offered me great pay. They must have changed. How sad:(
I am surprised you were treated this way after only ONE day of being ill.
:+
Really surprised about your post..
I have been there about 4 months now and have had no trouble whatsoever with getting paid on time and my pay being right. I guess with every job some folks like and some don’t. I for one am really loving it.

not surprised about the poor
communication and the jumping the gun. I think someone there likes to blame all the unreliable transcriptionists for the problem rather than taking responsibility for poor pay and poor management.

QUALITY...You'd be surprised by how...sm
many MTs with 10, 15, or 20 years of experience are still getting paid peanuts, barely able to make minimum wage, yet highest quality is demanded of them. Where's the meat???
I'm surprised anyone gets work there done
x
I am really surprised when I read so many different
replies about one company. I have now worked there over 2 years and have none of the issues you have had. I work on the Escription platform and it is extremely easy to get lines. I make at least twice a day on VR as to what you said. I don't blame you for being frustrated with only that amount but what system were you on? I have a schedule but never feel boxed in. Always and I mean always when I say I am taking off no problem. Controlling. I just don't see it. Oh, for VR being for slow. That might have been what happened with you. You cannot be slow and do VR. You cannot make any money that way at all. I type at least 130 wpm and doing VR is going as fast as you can scanning each and every word in order to make a good salary. I think VR is gravy compared to straight.
WOW! I'm surprised you work for TT

with that attitude.

What's wrong with you???? Weren't you ever young and pregnant???? Don't bother to answer.

Attitudes like yours is why I no longer work outside the home. Lighten up. Getting pregnant is a natural thing for young 'uns. So what if they get time off? You're not paying their wages.

Look at the bright side. There would be a little more work for ya.

wow very surprised at all the nastiness
lately when it comes to wmx.  not sure who your STM is but mine is very clear on the cherry picking issue not being tolerated.  i just came over to these boards recently due to low work volumes and have seen pretty much nothing but snarking and sniping at coworkers.  maybe its like this all the time, but i would hope we could find better ways to cope with a bad situation than go after each other.    i have been there for quite a while and while things are rough i am hoping they will get better.  it's obviously not just here, but an industry wide thing that is affecting many.  that said, if you have a ton of issues with how things are run at wmx, then by all means find another place of employment - the rest of us would probably benefit from the uptick in work volumes.
I am surprised with all the flaming that goes on on the
political board, that others have not moved to quiet that down. There is just too much said that people need to be aware there are others out there, such as what has happened here. I saw the posting (if this was the same one) where it was said they would know who you were. I was contacted on this board by exemployer 1 time so it can happen. I would think twice or maybe three times before posting things that I think incite, as in the other board you also frequent.
I'm really surprised they chose you
I've read your posts about TT and they seem rather rational and benign. I wonder why they would choose you over, say, that one who posts on here in all caps saying they are 'stealing' her lines and other rants which could be construed as libelous if she has no proof of her claims.

I'm sitting here kind of shaking my head wondering why they picked you, unless you were the most easily identifiable.

Is anyone else named in the suit, or is it just you?
There are some long distance companies...sm
that charge $20.00 per month. Qwest is one of them. Amazingly, Bell South offered a deal that goes with my existing phone package - LD is $21.00 per month, flat rate. I went with Bell South.

I was shying away from companies requiring me to pay for LD just because I thought it was so expensive. I was really surprised! Some companies also will reimburse for certain requirements (LD, internet, second phone line, etc.), although the company I am with now doesn't offer anything. Good luck to you!
Indy long distance
Check out Comcast phone service. If you have another service like cable TV or high speed internet with them, their phone costs are like $50 first line and $10 for a second line with unlimited long distance.
being monitored by long distance co's
I used to have Qwest unlimited.  They also didn't ask and I didn't tell what it was being used for, but a couple of months into it they changed their policy of monitoring after 5000 minutes and pretty soon I had a letter telling me they were dropping my long distance if I didn't prove they were person-to-person calls, i.e., not calling a computer.  If that is the worst that happens, that's not so bad.  Some long distance companies will actually call the numbers you call to prove what you are using it for and then back charge you at a minute rate for all the long distance that you used.  I recently started using Vonage with no problem after talking to other people who use it heavily, but it still makes me a little nervous.  They don't have minute restrictions but there are other restrictions that depending on how you look at it could apply to MT.  My only other choice would be to go to a pay-by-the-minute plan, but it would be way too expensive.  Just hoping for the best with Vonage.
Do they reimburse long distance? NM
