Spheris Canada...Applied on line per instructions but problems with template...

After completing page 1 it flips to page 2 and asks you for to choose a State...obviously I'm in Canada (for which page 1 had that option).  I am hoping this did not screw up my application.

I am very experienced so I am sure they would contact me...Checked out their web site and there is only a general inq # to call.

Is anyone working with the Canada (Ontario) Division...is it all through US head office....any insight ?

Wanna give the rest of us instructions on how to make a line count like that, aside from doing all
m
I applied with Spheris, got job offer the next day

So I guess it must be their way of doing things.  This was a year or so ago though.  I only stayed with them about 7 months.  They are definitely a ball and chain type job.  There is a time clock you must clock in and out of all day long, even bathroom breaks.  They are a real stickler for making sure your line count and your hours match up.  I always met my requirements but it was just too much of a headache to keep up with.

Me, too, but I think it was because I applied to a FutureNet ad, which is also Spheris. nm

Instructions inside
If you have Windows, go to My Computer, Display, Settings, and play with your Screen Resolution. I have mine at 1280 x 1024. Good luck!
Great Instructions - Thank you!! (nm)

To further explain, the instructions came from
the hospital where the work comes from in the first place. The top person (at the hospital) is not the most fuzzy person to start with and she, not the company, gives the orders. You know, you can go with the flow and do the work the way they like or like I said, go elsewhere. Everyone here in the US is free as far as I know. I am happy and just go with the flow. I hardly ever hear a word from management on this end so I consider that pretty heavenly. If you are looking, maybe you can find a job where if the VR is horrible then you will be able to erase and straight type at 4 (or 3) cents a line and be happy. I hope to stay put right here.
Would you mind to give instructions on doing that?
Thanks!!!
Sounds like they stole the instructions from the Q! :)

just my opinion.

One account I received an e-mail with instructions, no other
guidance.   A second account I retrieved about an hour at most of training with my TL, but she didn't know how to do everything herself either and would have to ask a third party.  It was not near enough training for the platform.   I never had any group training.  I was able to ask questions, but it may take several days to get an answer on my primary account, and my TL was more or less - do whatever you think should be done.  I don't think she is a TL anymore.
Spheris line counts
Anyone else working there who are having trouble getting minimum line counts?  Wondering if they are messing with the character count or what!!!!  I am working same as before full speed ahead and having a hard time getting my MINIMUM.  Frustating.  Had to vent.  Thanks
Spheris line count question

I am a newbie at Spheris and the health care package was offered last month.  I am not making the line count.  My line count is around 250-300 a day, full time, but my QA scores are 100%.  I know some would argue that with such a low production, my QA scores should be 100%,but I was told accuracy comes first.  Can someone shed some light on how long I can hang in at my low production, and will I keep my benefits if I do not make the line count soon.  I have been struggling on since August.

Thanks

What line rate does Spheris pay for radiology MTs?
TIA
Does Spheris require a phone line? sm
I'm thinking about going there, but why bother applying and testing if I have to use a C-phone.   I do internet work only.   Any other Spheris info good or bad anyone could share is appreciated.   Thanks.
MQ and Spheris line rates for SR/trans?
Can anyone tell me what editing/trans rates are for these companies? Are there any production incentives?
Spheris line rates & incentives
Some employees at Spheris are now being told that production and QA incentives will be eliminated. The line rate is variable, but in general, the very least you will accept. This used to be a wonderful company. Very little concern now for either employees, quality of work, or serving best interests of clients. Many are leaving.
Spheris/Cornerstone CUE program/line discrepancy

I just started cornerstone last payperiod and there have been line discrepancies according to my mentor.  I show I did 3,024 lines last week and she only showed 1597.  When we had our weekly mentor call I showed her how you have to go to the next day to get all of the lines (i.e. 11/17/2007- 11/18/2007 to pull up the lines for 11/17/2007).  She also said that CUE only showed that I was only for 18 hours which is a load!!  I worked 40 hours.  She said that everytime it pauses it adds that to the time.  It pauses when I am spell checking.  But none of that added up to such a discrepancy.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.  Or maybe I just needed to vent.  I like the idea of having instant line counts but they are not even getting the same ones we are.  I have to double check my paycheck this time just to see if they are paying me all of my lines.

Most of us do not have much template work.
So, in other words, work is mostly template work, not straight typing. That explains it all. No wonder. :)
Keyboard Template
Send an e-mail to Info@N2NTrans.Com and I will send you a copy of the Meditech keyboard template.   Jeff Smith
template lines
I just recently gave notice to a company I really liked because of that.  Sure, I have 1,000 lines but when half of those are at 3 cpl it is just not worth it.  What irks me is that is still takes time (and time is money in our business) to download the templates, change what the doctor wants, insert things, etc. and then I get a lousy 3 cpl for it?  When I started with them it was not like that and I can see a real difference in my paycheck with the change.  I will miss the work but can't live on that pay.
Does anyone know what template lines mean?
Thanks!
Canada MT
Well, there is nothing I can do about what line rate is offered here in Canada. I have chosen this career so have to take the good with the bad. And, depending on how many lines you can type in an hour depends on how much you will make per hour - With the amount of lines that I can type in an hour, it works out to pretty average - and almost triple what I used to get paid when I worked in-office, so pretty pleased.
Anyone work for Spheris doing VR? Could you share experience, pay, line count etc..
Also, what are the benefits like i.e., medical insurance etc??
I think the template info should be included
My reasoning is that I believe part of the reason line counts are dropping is, due to automation with computers, expanders, etc., MTs are able to produce greater lines in less time than they were able to produce on typewriters. JMO (but I really don't think it's JMO, I think it's a fact).
yes, you are paid for template insertions
for the nit-picky stuff, huh?
Template/normal Question
Has anyone ever worked IC for a company who didn't pay any of the template characters? For example, I have many templates that are full of normals (which we have to go through and change around to suit what the doctor is saying - or we have to insert information here and there), but we are not paid for the normals.

Needless to say, this actually slows us down a great deal and keeps our line rates much lower than it would be if there weren't normals in there.

I hadn't ever worked for a company that didn't pay for this, so I was wondering if this is typical outside of my limited experience.

Any insight?
How does a company know if you are using a template you made yourself?
I don't think they can, can they?  If the doc dictates an appendectomy and I have the procedure in my Expander and pop it in, how does the company know that?
PCDI Canada
Has anyone used or know anything about this company and the MT course they offer?  Am try to find out how legit they are for a friend.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks! =)
Forget AHDI, just follow the instructions for how to write proper authorities use your own words-sm
I'm afraid folks are not acting.  Maybe it won't do any good, but certainly if we don't raise our voices, the chances are not good for us.
In my experience, the only deduction is for keystrokes already in the template.
That is how I am paid - only for the Keystrokes I actually make.
I found a template while randomly googling - sm
While I was researching Meditech I came across a website for a company, I don't remember which one, that used it and had a template with the F keys on it.  I think it was for Magic.  Good luck.
My account doesn't have a template, I created my

own.  The header/demographics is manually entered, though I have a template that has all the required information and I just fill in the blanks.  I DO get paid for that information.

Canada has MT union lowest pay $23 hr

Wow 7 cents and then also the exchange rate, I forget what my MT email friend said it was.  Gad you are making zip per hour.  Glad you are happy with it.  Not me. My friend has some of her own accounts and charges $20 and hour.

Oh well, guess you are happy.  She is unhappy with %20 an hour.

Transtech pays for all the headings in the report template, such as those in your example, and they
all the demographic stuff that is inserted into the header and/or footer of your report. A heading and not the same thing as a header. The only thing on a report that you are not paid for is the hard-coded header and/or footer at the top and bottom of the document that has the facility name and the spot for the patient information to be inserted.
Heads up, I just found out this is a BC, Canada company!!
xx
Does anyone have any info on Terra Nova in Canada?? TIA
nm
Amen. Look at Canada/Sweden/England who have UHC. sm
A patient has to wait literally months to get a simple doctor's appointment. In the news just yesterday was a lawsuit in England where a patient died of breast cancer waiting to get an appointment with an oncologist. That is why Florida sees an influx of Canadians every winter; they save all of the routine healthcare workups for once a year, go to Florida, and get their healthcare taken care of.

Universal healthcare is not free. We will pay for it with increased taxes and pay for it DEARLY.

Terra Nova is located in Canada....

Evoluz Inc. hiring transcriptionist in Canada
Evoluz Inc. is a Toronto (Canada) based transcription company and they have been hiring currently.  My friend currently works for them from home and she is quite happy. They also provide interview and business transcription.
it may be located in Canada. See web link inside. SM
again, I'm not sure if this is the correct one you are looking for. I know nothing about this company however.

It's a good thing we don't live in Canada then
as my hubby was 64 when he had his 2 heart attacks and CABG last fall. He was lucky to have survived it as it was!
I think these guys are based on Ontario, Canada. nm
nm
Unions in Canada, MTs make $23 hour plus Yep
I communicate with an MT in Canada and that is what she relayed.
Just curious -- did getting paid from Canada mess up your taxes in any way? sm

I have a friend in Toronto, and we were talking about me trying to do some work for them (they pay 18 cents per line!) but wasn't sure how complicated it would be taxwise.

Thanks.

If you have horrible platform, do not get paid for headers, footers, template data, etc.,
even though it might take 3 or 4 minutes or longer to edit that stuff, you are going to take a big pay cut.  This program was designed by idiots.
Can I asked when you applied? I applied a few weeks ago
and never heard a word and I have over 16 years of experience. I applied because I got a recommendation from a friend of a friend who loves working there..Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get anymore details other than that.  I'm all for even one positive at this point on this frustrating job search. Good luck to you though and check back with us to tell us how the interview went etc. Thanks
No. I applied, but I've applied SM

at a lot of places lately.  I got an e-mail from a lady whose name starts with an M, but she didn't identify her company in the letter.  She had my resume on the bottom of her e-mail, so I know it's someone I applied with, but I don't know which one!!  LOL  I'm thinking it's The Word Pros.  Anyone else apply to The Word Pros and get an e-mail from M?

I'd love to hear information about them as well.

Just Me

A line is a line is a line. Doesn't matter if we are talking about radiology or acute care.

1600 is not a fair minimum requirement.  Sure you can achieve 1600, it shouldn't be the required minimum.

I still feel like a team player of Spheris, as the shackle scars are still on my legs! Spheris was

Micromanaged to the microsecond, or ms!  Horrible. And part of a team?  Total opposite - part of a team as in prison.

Don't imply you're worried at all. Just stating fact that Spheris does NOT allow a Spheris MT
work concurrently for MQ - no exceptions.  MQ, on the other hand, does not have the same feelings as Spheris.  Just all I had to say so that MTs aren't misled into thinking they can do the same "legally". Even went to the ropes on this issue with Spheris, as I was professional as well, and wouldn't share info, etc. The point they raised was that MQ is their direct #1 competition, and if I was typing for MQ and doing great work, that was in direct conflict of interest with Spheris' best interests.  Guess which one I obviously stuck with!!
