I am very interested in finding a QA job - how/where do you find a job doing this with no experience doing QA? What would be a fair hourly rate?
Thank you Rennie - I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. sm

But - all I can get is dial-up in my area.  Also I cannot work weekends due to family obligations, but I appreciate the information and most of all your time in getting it to me.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply
I was contacted by them just a few minutes ago saying they had already hired someone for the position. I had not taken the test yet which I was happy about. It would have been disappointing to go through all that trouble to test and they had so few positions available like that.

However, I will make a note of your information for future reference.

Thanks.
In this day and time people are taking
pay cuts to keep their jobs, don't think now is the time to be asking for a raise. We are on a tier system, so there is no way we can get a raise. Other companies where I have worked have always had a cap and once you reached that there were no raises.
THANKS for taking the time to publish
this information.

If you think how EFFICIENT government usually is, then you know not to OVER-worry about these changes.

Yes, tongue firmly planted in cheek.

That said, anyone who doesn't understand by now that MT work is dying a slow death isn't paying attention.

I could hammer myself everyday over taking time

Life is waaaaaaaaaay too short!  We have the option to work from home, so it makes it easier to do back-breaking line counts.

I absolutely refuse to sit and wait for work.  You're just a number at these nationals.

If you're lucky enough to sub for a small company, so be it.

I like being my own boss and giving myself an hour off or a day off or whatever else off.  What else can we do?  We need vacations and breaks just like the healthcare professionals we transcribe for do.

I think doctors are taking vacation this time of year
I've seen this in the past in the summer.
Thanks guys for taking the time to respond to my post. I'll go with the State job if offered.
I may do some PT/IC a couple days of the week just to keep my skills up and just in case they offer the lower rate of pay.

Gonna miss you Guys. Thanks for all your help.
For the record . . . I did take the time to answer
your question below. See Not uncommon . . . I even took the time to go through some notes I made while interviewing for jobs back in the late fall.
No time to answer her email, but apparently
time to hang here on this board, LOL.
Also...do you have to clock out any time you leave the computer, i.e. to answer the door, go to the

TT management does not answer questions that you ask them; only answer those they want to answer.

I know, work for a long time and tried asking questions, but they just beat around the bush and don't answer the true question that you presented to them.

Maybe it is kite flying weather where you are !!!

I can answer that question with a simple answer!
Strengths - none.
Weakness - all.
Thanks very much for this. Very well done and very much appreciated. nm

Your info is much appreciated!..sm
I know what you mean about getting nervous when no work is available, I am the same way! The company I am with now offered overtime for this past weekend and for the past several weekends (which are my regular days) and I have run out of work on countless occasions. TT sounds great, think I will make the jump. Thanks again for your input.
Thanks for replying. Much appreciated.

So, it's just for fun but only serious replies appreciated?

Thanks for the publicity. It's much appreciated.
Happy Holidays.
Any info. appreciated
Anyone working for Gulf Coast Transcription out of Florida?
Greatly appreciated!

Good afternoon!

I have had employee status all my years of dictation but am venturing to IC.  For those that have done BOTH, which do you prefer?  The pros so far for me as an IC are setting my own schedule and no set times I have to work, just getting my lines in for the day.

As an IC, how are you doing as far as income after you pay your yearly taxes?  Does it even out about the same as far as the percentage you pay in taxes as compared to having them taken out for you?

I already found affordable health insurance for me and the family, so no worries there.

Thank you so much for any replies!  I'm looking forward to this new-found freedom.

Thanks for the info - appreciated! nm

You are a rarity and you are appreciated!

you would feel appreciated
here I am sure, but you may have to work hours you don't want in order to get your committment met; of course, there are a lot of variables that could affect this.
Thank you, thank you for that much appreciated clue.
we're talking about a perfectly dreadful typing congomeration. Am I right?
Prayers appreciated s/m
Thank you for your prayers.  I  have some family issues that really need prayers.

Any info on Encompass would be appreciated!

I appreciated the positive email, but sm
I just can't believe we didn't even get a Happy Holidays email or anything. I'm definitely not complaining, but they have spoiled us in the past and then just nothing this year. I enjoy working for QT and hope things are going to work out for the best! I wish someone from mgmt would respond on this board or in an email!
Any info on AbleScribe would be appreciated.. nm

It would be nice to feel appreciated.
I feel I am just a number, On my 3rd national now.  Maybe I should go with a smaller company.  A little contact and maybe being acknowledged for the important work I do.  Also bonuses or incentives, and of course, pay rates are dropping.  I have found if you have 20 years experience or just 2 years doesn't make a difference, same low rates.
Any info on Van Belkum would be appreciated. nm
