Looking for OP note companies.....
Mostly I am interested in the name of the company, what kind of internet connection you have to have and amount of work normally available. Things like that. Thanks for the answers.
Check Monster, CareerBuilder, MedHunters.com. Check with the companies you see listed if they're
s
Thanks! I'll have to check them out if sm

my present situation fizzles.

I'll check it out nm
x
I'll have to check into that. Thanks!! nm
nm
THANK YOU TOO! I'll check with them on that! (nm)
nm
Tx I'll check it out!

Thanks...I'll check with new employer to see which one (sm)
they have..Hope it's Meditech Client!
I'll have to re=check their website
I could have sworn they said US owned/based with locations worldwide.
I'll have to check into Spheris
I looked at them before and at the time they were starting training that you had to pay for and then they would hire you after graduation but if they are straight hiring I'll have to try them again. I'd rather have 3 job offers than none!
be sure your first paycheck is not an NSF check. Then you'll be fine

hopefully all will go well for you.  Good luck.

I'll check the COC but wanted to start looking now
to get a head start.
Thank you kindly - I'll check 'em out!
:)
It is an Indian run company. If you'll check the archives they
have been asked about several times the last month or so.  There has been nothing good said about them.
Let me check my paperwork and I'll shoot you an email. NM

I'll check paper tomorrow, but not sure about Broward,
zz
I'll check that our. I mostly stare in disbelief at the Acct Backlog Page.
Disgusting. I'm disgruntled, too. Just got an E-mail asking for help from some newbie on my secondary on which there are only a couple dozen jobs. My primary is out and my STM will not give me a 3rd. I had a 3rd, but we lost that hospital in June. Sick of it.
You'll always make better (sm)
money with your own clients than working for someone else. You don't need to become an MTSO to do it. Not all clinics use voice files, some still use tapes so be sure you have a microcassette player. In that case you would have to pick up tapes so think about travel time when you send out fliers. There are several software packages such as PC Anywhere or Radmin that would allow you to transfer voice files between computers, or you could use WinZip to email voice files.
You'll never make $70,000 doing VR... so then why would you say sm
You are happy with VR when you made $70,000 typing????

Ridiculous!!!
I think you'll make out fine.
I would accept, and then you could always say no if you think you are not turning a profit.  150 pages x 3.00 = $450.00 a day.  Am I adding this up wrong?  That would be if only each patient required one page.  If you add on the 2nd page at $1.50 that is even more money.  I print for my docs.  I have a cheapo HP that cost me like 80.00.  The cartridges run $15.00 and last approximately two weeks.  It is an inkjet and works great.  I write off the cartridges on my taxes.  They are providing the paper.  Sounds like a sweet account especially if it's local.  A 3-inch margin at the top is a lot.  I would go for it!  You could always turn it away or sub it out if needed.
And 8.5 is just the base so you'll make more
:)
I'll try to make this point again...
wake up. MTs are not the first Americans to lose their jobs overseas. Look at your clothing labels, look at our TVs and other entertainment items, look at your children's toys. WHERE were they made. If you want AMERICAN JOBS FOR AMERCAN WORKERS, put your money where your mouth is and BUY AMERICAN. Consider all the toy recalls and the pet food poisoning epidemic from CHINA...How many American workers were displaced when these commodities started coming from overseas. If it's the cheapest brand on the market, it's probably from overseas. Bite the bullet and buy ONLY AMERICAN PRODUCTS TO PROTECT ALL AMERCIAN WORKERS, not just yourselves.
One of the smartest decisons you'll every make! (sm)
xx
What an endorsement - we'll make you so productive
Gee, maybe someday, if I stick with Webmedx, I'll get so productive I'll need 5 or 6 jobs.  Strangely, I prefer having plentiful lines at ONE job, so I can, oh I dunno, have a LIFE with the rest of my time?
make sure you check...sm
Make sure you find out that your area accepts their insurance. I think the insurance is okay enough, but it doesn't do any good if no one in your area will accept it. Also, I think they are going to discontinue supplying the computer and discontinue the no-work downtime. Very important things to consider...these are just a few.....
They will check to make sure...
that you have good dentition (oral exam) as well as ask routine questions in order to complete the ROS.
Some make a decent check
so you cannot lump all together.
Nice does not make for good pay check.
Ditto, Ditto.  sorry to hear that you had so much down time and not able to make any money.  Well hope for the best with your new company.
Keep puckering up, maybe someday you'll make that big $14 an hour. Best of luck to ya. nmsg

Maybe they want to make sure people double check their spelling.
If you are not sure of how they are spelled, you really should look them up.

They are well known brands and easy to look up.
What is sad is that you'll get a longer list of companies
People with skill and experience are too costly to most large MTSOs.  Quantity is more important than quality because, after all, it's cheaper to hire a couple skilled professionals to clean up the mess of the larger group of unexperienced/unskilled MTs that they can hire for a lot less.
You can also do a background check on companies
Check with the BBB and check with other agencies for reports against the company.

As an MTSO myself, I encourage that. It's always a good idea to check out what you're getting into. I have no problem with MTs sharing this information on a message board, either. I think it's a good thing. If an MTSO has a history of not paying employees, that is definitely something an MT needs to know in advance and if other MTs failed to report that to the BBB or other agencies, a message board may be the only place you can find that info.

However, when I work for someone, even if I have a problem with that company or person, I will keep my mouth shut until I quit. Once you no longer have a working relationship with them, then it's fair game. Until then, I prefer to zip my lip. I don't burn my bridges in case I would like a reference later and quitting always looks better on a resume than being let go. It's not a matter of loyalty, just good business sense. It will always be more beneficial to you, the MT, to keep your thoughts to yourself until you sever the working relationship.
The last 2 companies I worked for DD my check the
first pay period.   There could possibly be a bank issue, but it isn't an across the board issue.
Most companies hold your first check
x
I would check back with the companies
and just ask them what you may or may not have done wrong so you know in the future. I have done that in the past and they are usually polite and helpful.
A few dial-up companies inside. Check their
Accept dial up:  First Choice, Spheris, Precyse only if 37K or faster, SoftScript, and possibly Transform....nm
They asked for a background check but most companies do, don't they?
They asked for $55 for my background check. I have tried to search, Google, ect, and I can't find anything about them except more job listings. Any advice at all for a struggling newbie?
Many LD companies aren't allowing MTs anymore. I doubt you'll have it for much longer.
x
Still good companies in my opinion...was not on the list. Check them out for yourself OP

May not be lying.. *certain* companies never bothered to check their work.
x
Some companies don't give that first check until 4 or 6 weeks have passed. Ck your contract. nm
,
Are there any companies that don't make you

work from a pool, but allow you to download or send you so many minutes or files per day from a particular clinic or hospital dictator(s).   I just want to do my jobs and be done when they run out.  I don't want to have to wait around for more dictation or have dictation from unknowns put in my queue to fill up my shift.  Do such places exist?

Which companies don't make you punch a
I'm currently an IC and hate the thought of clocking in and out for a measly potty break.
oops, make that which companies? nm
x
Too many companies invested money in VR, and they are going to make
sure they can use it, no matter what. So even if it can only type if, and and the correctly, it will be put into VR and the poor MT that has to straighten that garbage out will be paid a big fat amount of around 4 cpl. These companies are the greediest bunch I have ever seen. None of them are worth the ground they sit on.
There are companies that manage to make it work. OTI, for example. nm
x
Any companies who DON'T make you do voice recognition?

I can't stand VR and am looking for a new job where it is just straight typing like it should be - anybody work for companies who are not jumping on this wagon?

What companies don't make you follow exact schedule?

Looking for a company that allows some flexibility on what time I type each day instead of a strict schedule that I set up.  This is just to deal with occasional appointments or if the kids have a class play I want to see, etc.  Most days a schedule would be fine but I also don't want to be stuck with it!

The company I used to be with was like this but they now require schedules to be followed. I see the point in that but I also know that some exist with more flexibiity!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Speaking from experience.. you work all day and make nothing. I also have worked for other companies
on Escription and made a lot more.I just came to the conclusion that they do not pay for headers, footers, spaces etc.. I swear I would work 8 hours and be lucky to make $50. It was my first Escription account so when I changed companies I could not believe it. I make in a few hours what took me 10-12 hours to make at Focus. Dont waste your time. They design it so you dont make any money. What a waste of time working there.
Gee, I only make negative comments about companies I've actually worked for
and have the scoop on. I never said the line rate was high for this company, but nice fast software is what saves a good MT's line count. There are plenty of ESLs too, but no more than most acute care hospitals. So if you can't handle ESLs, you wouldn't want to work for TT (or most other hospital accounts). The new accounts are not teaching hospitals, which is good for me because I don't like doing residents. For now there is plenty of work and OT when you want it. So IMO a starting line count isn't the only important factor for how much money I can make, and certainly not the only factor in my job contentedness. They are fair and respectful and use good software, and those are the facts, not theories.
People at TT have been paid! People who haven't well, maybe you did not make count and your check
after insurance deduction. Maybe your bank is holding it. Maybe anything! But we GOT PAID. This is NO LIE. And I am sick of this board. Nothing but disgruntled exemployees arguing with employees who like their job. Ugggg. I am working. BTW: THERE IS WORK (clears throat) remember that? Work?
