Then we best be watching our backs

and socialism has really been around longer than we think because I was let go from a job in the year in approximately 1962 because of an abortion. That is right. Worked at a children's hospital that was affliated with a bigger hospital, went to the bigger hospital and was fired from the other. So I guess socialism is nothing new, right?

cut backs
If they are cutting back, it is most likely because I understand they outsource to India.
Transtech has our backs

Everything's okay at Transtech.  I just talked with my supervisor.  There's plenty of work for everyone.  We'll just shift accounts, that's all.  I for one like to learn something new; it breaks the monotony.  I'm even going to try my hand at eScription on my new account!  Transtech won't let us down.  They truly have our backs.

That they make off the backs of the MT.
Nobody said it wasn't their money to do what they want with, but it shows how much they value their employees and what the priorities are. They might as well say, Hey, we don't think you deserve a raise, cut in your insurance premiums, or a bonus, but we're going on vacation on the money you made us...oh, and by the way, work extra while we're gone.
I think they are making a much larger profit on the backs of MTs...
Think about it. Do you think it is costing the clients any less for their transcription. How would they even know it was VR? If the MTSO charges the same, they are making more money (half of what they used to pay the MT).
Fortunately, I haven't had any problems getting call-backs...sm
I have been in contact with 3 companies within the last 6 weeks. I do have 18+ years experience, but just needed to find the right fit. There are good jobs to be gotten so don't give up.

Good luck!
While we pound our brains out until our backs ache and our wrists crack and pop
The trend toward more and more hospitals hiring for work-at-home MTs is helping and if they'd all go that route it would solve the problem.
watching everything they do
nm
You know what - I've been watching
FN posts now for a while - and I experienced nearly the same things myself years ago - the no work, the no answers to emails, the cherry pickers, the lousy QA and am watching someone else now who is being treated very well and makes me kind of wonder if they don't overhire and then kind of weed us out and see who will take what, etc.  I'm going to have to watch this other situation and see what develops... interesting!!
What is odd here is watching the MTers
busting a gasket because of their inability to work at VR. Anyone who cannot make money doing it usually say it is for slow transcriptionists when they know they are the ones who just cannot catch on on how to make a buck from it. All the companies are headed that way. I read people say I can transcribe over 2000 a day and then they say I cannot even do $100 a day with voice. I see everyone going elsewhere, going to work at McDonald's, going to have to pay them what they make at straight, aint gonna happen. I have 25 years and tired of working my fingers off, want to do the easy way now with voice.
Guess I better start watching for it. sm
I sent in my papers last Friday.
trans companies watching

Funny story - several companies watch this board and feel they can use the information posted as a slander suit against those doing the posting.  Funny thing is, all posting would have to be proven inaccurate and if they are not the companies spoken about, then why would they worry if it were them.  If it is them, then they would also have to prove it was not true.  Be careful posting, there are several who monitor and act as if they are one of you.  As you all know the signon information, including what some feel are initials are usually an acronym or petname. You could be mistaken for someone else.

Most should probably spend their time making sure they keep their nose clean and their people happy.  Not only do they drive us crazy in our professional lives, they have nothing better to do then to reach into our personal lives as well.

Trans. cos. watching board
Not the least bit worried. We enjoy a fair comment privilege to state our opinions, and we can make assertions and tell our experiences. They have no leg to stand on. I think their threats to initiate *slander suits* is hilarious, and ironic since MTs are the ones being acused of being sue-happy. If any of you transcription companies are monitoring this message right now, take this: You're a pathetic, crooked company, you cheat your MTs and your clients. Now try to find me!
I have been watching this KS bashing and hope that it never happens to sm
my company. You are horrible, bitter, miserable people who seem to have nothing better to do than throw in 2 cents that mean nothing. I am apalled at the childish behavior of adults and profassionals.

Long distance? All of my 32 of my employees have to provide unlimited long distance or be local to Atlanta. They all have either cable digital or Southern Bell and no one complains as it is not very expensive and does not really add to their regular phone bills.

If you want more than 0.06 per line, you have to be willing to give and take too. MTSOs are here to make money too and I think you would be very surprised to see that we do not make as much as you think, maybe even less than some MTs.
I'm going to start watching this more closely also. (sm)
Do you think the lag will get worse as new accounts are added?
I've been watching for years now - sm
I'd say you are correct. Lots of companies I've never heard of and most of them seem to be IC. You never see any of the big MT companies on here anymore it seems.

I personally would never take a chance on an IC job unless I knew someone who was already working there and actually getting paid.
yeah, they are watching and people take the bait

Watching who is posting for jobs to keep current, but not

Don't be watching and waiting. Been there for years and never any type of acknowledgement...nm

You take the Geritol and start typing, Missy. Big brother is watching! They
Can't put up with that kind of bull from my employer!
The hospital I work just contracted to send our overflow to MDI. I've been watching as our SM

minutes slowly dwindle.  Last meeting we had, we voiced our concerns about losing our work and Transcend/MDI outsourcing overseas, only to be told that administration is happy that TAT is being met and so they are going to continue to send work to MDI on a daily basis and we don't believe they are sending OUR work overseas.

My hospital is a prime account to be sent overseas, a medium-sized community hospital, three (count 'em, three) ESL who aren't hard to do at all with the resting being very good, very American dictators, easy to understand.  No way would a service give this account to an American MT who could stand to make a good pay check doing this account.

I think the next step is to get rid of us all and send everything out.  If that happens, that's it for me, I'm getting out of transcription all together.  I know I definitely won't go to MDI for a job, like they would put me on this account where I could pull in 2000+ lines a day.

I've worked too hard all these years to be treated like my knowledge, skills, and education doesn't matter and to be paid peanuts for these skills I have worked hard to acquire, improve, and maintain.

I'm just really bummed today.  My job future isn't looking too good right now.  I hope I'm wrong.

I was told by several actual Indiam MTs that they were trained by watching ER episodes and typing SM
as the show was aired. They were rated on their speed, not accuracy! He said that when he did start working, the actual reports were to be edited in the US, so accuracy did not matter. I found this shocking, although the best line rate there at the time was 2-3 cpl. His accounts that he was assigned in India were for many US VA hospitals He has since come to the US and works online for a major company, last time I spoke with him, he was getting 11 cpl. He must have been trained with one of the more complicated episodes of ER...LOL BTW, I did tell him that he should be an entertainment industry MT, he would probably make more money...
Bye Bye Birdie. Could you email me too. I've been watching the board and interested in your findi
since I also have been on the job search from you know where. I would be interested in any information you would want to share.
