TransTech upper sent out email for blackout on vacation for several days, so only a grain or 2 jobs

Posted By: TT'er not excited at all on 2009-06-23
In Reply to: Hmm .. the TTers are not complaining anymore and Focus/Nuance are advertising again. nm - Maybe gourdpainter was right

available due to some MT's on vacation *probably looking for job*.  We are TAT up-to-the-minute, so NOTHING to get excited about at TT.

Same ole grab-it-while-it-is-there workload.  LOW, LOW, LOW.

That is what I just said. !0 days PTO, period. That includes vacation, sick days and personal days
They should have paid holidays so that you are paid if you take off. Also should inculde extra hours for sick days and personal days.

That annual raise of .002 is kind of a joke especially when at the same time they upped the minimum line requirement from 10,000 lines to 12,000 lines.

OSi just does not have the qualified people in management positions that I wish to work for.

I am glad that you are happy at OSi and all is working out for you. Their dishonesty and the way they treat people just does not work for me.

Of course they can get by cheaply by hiring unqualified people so that is very good for the owners.
Can you take vacation days with no pay
and can you have holidays off with no pay. Is there a limit to how many days off a year you can take? Do you have to make up the time you are off? TIA
That is not much when MT's required to use those days for sick, vacation, and holidays.

So don't plan a vacation, or get sick, or want off any holidays for to spend with family.  11 days are just not enough for a year's work for any company.  The office staff, I am sure, get to take a vacation, or sometimes sick, and are off holidays to be with their families.

Why do at-home MT's get treated like this when we are paid on production and have to really PUSH to get a decent living, and then not be respected the same as an office employee.  We produce piece work !

TransTech the last few days
Is it me or is anyone else getting 100% ESLs the last several days.  I am signing on Monday and it looks like it is still this way.  I heard that it was not all ESLs and I am wondering if it is just me. I hope that it isn't but then again, if it is maybe I should worry... my production is going down quickly.
I would write them an email if it has been a couple of days.
Never hurt to try.
I got an email stating my score within a few days.

OK after the email I just got from Transtech
They are growing and growing and adding new accounts and adding new accounts and NOW they decide to cut back the hours you can talk to a person to 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and have to page them after that? What kind of company does that? This is crazy. A company grows and office hours are cut back. That makes no sense. Why don't they hire somebody to answer the phone then? You know they are still in the office after 12. They just don't want to be bothered with phone calls. They already say don't email unless absolutely necessary and it doesn't do any good anyway because they don't answer unless you keep sending the same email. I need communication with a company. Ridiculous. I'm leaving.
Don't take what MQ says with a grain of salt
.....take the whole salt mine.
Someone said Transtech sent out mass Email

saying which shifts and days they are hiring for.  Care to share what they said so I will know whether to bug them.  If it is not allowed here on this board no problem and I will apply anyway.  Thank you.

Take what you read here with a grain of salt
I work for one of the most bashed companies on this board, and let me tell you, I have no plans to leave. Why? Well, I rarely run out of work, have great accounts, make a good line rate with differential for weekend work, have 8 paid holidays a year (whether I work or not), 5 paid sick days and 15 days of paid vacation. In return, they expect me to work my shift and make minimum line count. Not a hard thing to do.

Look closely at what some of these companies have to offer and ignore some of the sour grapes posters on here. Judge for yourself. It seems like the most vocal posters on this board are the negative ones, and we rarely hear the positives of some of these companies.
sorry - for grain of salt post.
x
Take it all with a grain of salt. My co. doesn't
guess what? I now work 7 days a week because its the only way I can make enough lines to keep my health insurance. Every time I think Ive found a way to up my lines and earn a little more money one month, it 'mysteriously' gets shot down the next month, through sporadic work, or unintelligible accounts, or schizophrenic software that malfunctions daily. Face it, these crooks are going to milk every last drop of work they can out of us, for as long as we accept their mealymouthed lies and paltry paychecks, until we finally quit in disgust (as it appears here that many are in the process of doing). Then, of course, their claim of 'no American MTs to do the work' starts to actually have some truth to it. It's quite the racket, if you ask me. But someday, SOMEday, their ill-gotten gains will be scrutinized by the government, and I think a LOT of them are going to be in very deep doo-doo.
When did you get offer from TransTech? We just got email saying they were NOT hiring . . .

Just wondering how we are going to pay our bills for the next 5-6 months at TT.  It has been very tough for a very long time, because of lack of work due to TT overhiring, anticipating new accounts, as all companies do -- HIRE BEFORE THE ACCOUNTS COME ONBOARD and maybe not even get the accounts when that times comes.

My question is when were you offered a job with TransTech?????

I received an email from TransTech stating that they
are about to hire for many positions but just last week I read lots of posts on here about people running out of work.  At one time I had been really interested in working for them but this is really confusing and makes me very wary.
Best advice ---- take everything on the boards with a grain of salt. sm
For every positive post, you will have 10 negative posts (often the same person). For every negative post, there is often either a troll or a disgruntled ex-employee or one who was not hired.

For every great post, there is often a referral bonus or other leading factor.

Just like your post and mine were anonymous, anyone can say anything under the cloak of anonymity.

Make your list, narrow it down to 3 or 4 and talk to each of them to get a feel for what is best for you. There are huge differences in pay, how pay is calculated, benefits, type of work, methods of doing the work, flexibility, etc. between the company.

Good luck!
Didn't that TransTech email about them going to Vegas and us POOR MT's paying for that trip ju

rub us struggling MT's when she sent out that email to us.  She didn't say how many went to LV -- just bye . . . we're off!

Enjoy the light of the Dictaphone flashlight begging for a job for you, while we enjoy the lights of Vegas !

YUK !  Totally irritated this TT MT.  Sickening, in fact.

Any manager worth a grain of salt wouldn't even reply here. How unprofessional.

But it is okay for YOUR upper managment
to come on this board and bad mouth past employees, offer names to companies, and say half truths. So...I get it now, that is how the show runs, YOUR people can come on and say WHATEVER, but no one else can say anything negative about SHAPIN or it is slandering you? What kind of nerve does Shapin have? This is the most absurd post!!!!!
I made upper 40s with them 6 years.
My insurance was around $350 a month family coverage. I have been gone from them about a year.

Ironic though that upper management's SM

salary, perks and bonuses make yours look *cheesy* also.

I am not upper mgmt. I am just a Transhealth employee. They have gotten

a bad wrap on these boards.  I don't know who has done all this, but I can tell you that their current staff (including QA) are the best.  The ESL account is a tough one but you have a good QA staff to help you get to know it and there are samples available for you immediately.

You may email me and I would be happy to share more.

Also, their insurance is available the very next month after employment.  If you start on the last day of the month, the insurance is in place the next day.

TT have several levels of coverage; I took the upper tier ($500 ded., 90%). nm

I've made in the upper 40s and low 50s for several years now.
From 2 top nationals. Yes, it is possible.

Can everyone do it? No. Some people are better at it than others. Some can put their headset on, hit that pedal and keep on until it's all done. Others cannot sit still, don't have a very good skill set, are easily distracted or listen to too many complaints by others. Never let others help you decide how to feel about YOUR job.

Some of it will rely on your skill set, your mindset and your self-discipline. Some of it will depend on working for a company that you are comfortable with - comfortable with their set up, how work is divided, their base and incentive pay, etc. If you're upset, you'll not perform as well. If you're unhappy, you'll spend more time being upset than working and being productive.

Very disorganized. Unqualified ppl in upper managment

LOL Everyone I guess that says something good about a company is upper management.
Make sure you get your facts straight before you call me upper management.

If anyone would like to email me, then that is okay with me. I dont know how to add my email addy on here, but if you let me know how I would surely like to email you.
This coming from upper mgmt. Read other posts

No, they kept me with all the layoffs, and my accuracy rate is upper 90s, so not worried about that

You bill 30 days behind, and they snail mail it so it's late - about 40 days from invoice
No way jose - they even messed up their direct deposit payments

Don't think any do except for those in-house jobs. Some QA jobs are paid hourly. nm

They didn't take our jobs, QT gave them our jobs. The account is now
back in the hands of US MTs, or will be in just a couple of weeks.
Vacation for SEs
Anyone know what is the procedure for taking vacation(s) as a MQ SE? How far in advance do you let them know, do they have a problem with it, etc.? Is there a limited amount of days you are allowed per year?
Vacation

All MQ offices seem to operate differently, but in mine I have had no problems.  I usually give several weeks to a month's notice, then I also remind them a week or so before I'm off.  I have never had any problems whatsoever.  I took off about three different weeks last summer over a 6 month period.  Plus, right after I was hired I had to take off for an already planned vacation and they didn't say a word.

I don't know the answer as to how much time you are allowed to take off.  It would seem to me being an SE (basically an IC) that legally they could not limit your time off.  Of course, that doesn't mean they won't complain about it.  I think if you give a few weeks notice there shouldn't be a problem.

I have vacation and PTO. I take off when I need to. I
usually take 10 days off in a row and then long weekends various times throughout the year.  I have even taken a day off with just 1 day notice when I was just needing a break.   I don't take advantage and I have about a month of accrued time now.  Sometimes if I'm taking off on a Friday for a long weekend I'll work extra during the week, or get up very early Friday and work, so I get my lines in, though I'm not asked to.   I think my company sees that so they don't hassle me when I take off.
Someone needs a vacation and bad!

Vacation? What is that?
:-)
Thanks! Im on vacation
until mid next week. More later!
Some MT's on vacation right now, but
But sometimes there is not even work on weekends.  Yuk!  Going to get worse before it gets better at Transtech -- too many MT's hired now and slow holiday period coming up.  Some of the accounts are only overflow accounts and temporary accounts that TT picked up recently, so look out for the bill collectors at the our doors around the first of 2008.
No, she is still there but has been on vacation. sm

If this is the right account. Actually, I think all the leads are there still and a few have been added.  ***Edited by Moderator***

Regarding vacation and PTO,
do you mean they are separate, 6 vacation days and then 1 week PTO, meaning 13 days total? and how do they differ between the 2? Thanks for your help.
Companies that allow you to take vacation
I work for a company that has paid time off, thing is they don't like you to take it. If you want to take off more than 1 week a year, they won't let you even if you don't care if you are paid for it. Does anyone work as an employee where you can actually take vacation without being without a job when you come back, the work is steady and the pay is good?
Vacation Coverage - IC
I work as an IC also, and I'm taking a few days off in just a few weeks. I let them know a month ahead of time. I'm the only one working for this company (very small) and she won't hire anyone else, so they know what they're in for when I'm gone. I don't know what they're going to do because they always had another girl for back up. The only bad thing I'll have more work than I can handle when I come back. I'm not sure how other companies handle the situation.
How much maximum vacation can you get
working at Webmedx. Thinking of applying but need to know about paid vacation days. I believe you get 10-11 the first year but I'd like to know how much vacation you get maximum after a few years. TIA
Uhh, as an IC? Vacation is unheard of in that

Staff appropriately and you won't have this problem.  The problem is relying on ICs as employee.  You cannot expect someone to just work and work with no time off - not gonna happen!!!

This is what goes against my grain.  These companies want employee types but only want to pay a very minimum line rate for evenings and then now are requiring that you take no time off or schedule time off and never have an emergency????

KS Vacation question (sm)

How does KS calculate your vacation time?  If you had 1 quarter in the year that did not meet the 12,000 lines, does that mean you get no vacation at all for that year?  In other words, If every month has 12,000 lines per pay period, except 1 or 2, no vacation at all for that year?
