I work with a rescue group so I get my share of fuzzy feelings

Posted By: CC on 2009-06-23
In Reply to: High maintenance lady? LOL - gourdpainter

I financed a group to get it started, paying for the animal's care, vet bills, medicine and still do the financing. I also take my money and help others out. I just sent some money yesterday to a MT whose has a son who is in dire shape and she wants to go be with him. Not too long ago I read on here about a lady who needed help in buying a foot pedal. I sent her money for that so basically you don't know what you are saying when you say help others out. My mother said I did this from a very young age and I continue to do the same. I also take care of me, though. As far as a sugar daddy, never wanted one. I have a chef husband and a housekeeper. I work, travel, rescue animals, help others out when I want to. Priceless. End of conversation.

Good for you. I hope you share your positive feelings
towards that company on this board then. People are only stating their opinions. If they have a bad one, that's their choice. All you can do is share your opinion that's good. However, if you don't share that opinion and simply jump on to tell everyone else to stop complaining, you're really not helping things.
Whay would an MT come to the rescue of
an MTSO? Especially to the rescue of a subcontracting MTSO?
They just found a niche to make money off MTs.
Plese explain otherwise.
Watch out - KS LEAD to the rescue!
Please be careful on here because anyone who says anything bad against Keystrokes will have Jo or KS LEAD or I guess there are a few others, stating things like Wrong!  If they are so busy with new accounts, why do they constantly come on here to defend poor Keystrokes that are Meditech lovers.  LOL - I just have to laugh.
Since it's a private group on Facebook, you have to click on "request to join group" sm
It takes about a day to be added after the request is put in.
Warm and fuzzy

You could probably find enough deserving people who  need help right under your nose.  The internet is full of people needing/asking for help.  Some are probably legit, some are probably scams.  Even in this backwoods community there are plenty of places people really needing help can go to get it.  My opinion is if someone is really in such dire straights, why haven't they sacrificed their computer and internet?  If they use same for working, there is work available so why not work instead of begging?  This community has fund raisers all the time to help needy people when their house burns, when they have unexpected medical bills and just about every other emergency that could arise.  But....to each his/her own.  It's your money.

I'm pretty familiar with animal rescue groups too.  The only privately funded groups I know of are actually 501(c)3 corporations.  The private funding goes to pay a lawyer and the IRS to set it up, not cheap.  Then the rescue group can legally solicit donations and generally speaking, someone is paid an administrator salary (perfectly legal) from donations or fund raisers.  I know this because 6 months ago I worked with a lawyer who donated his time to help me.  This 501(c)3 is to raise money to restore an old grist mill.  There will be no salaries paid in this case...which you have to indicate in the 501(c)3 filing papers.  According to the IRS, they are running 6-8 months behind in processing applications.  The lawyer told me this was because so many people are going that route hoping to make a living.

Might be only the endocrine doc in a GI group, only the pacemaker doc in a cardio group, etc. nm

Fuzzy math. A 40% cut in pay is not offset by a 40% increase

in production.

To break even in this picture, you would have to have a much greater increase in production. IF you currently do 2000 lines a day at 8 cpl, and your new "blended" rate pays 4.8 cpl, you would have to do 3,334 lines to break even, or at least a 67% increase in production.  Do you all really think you can do it?

I work for a group of doctors ...
that make up 5, and average 6 tapes a month ... that makes up about $800/month. The rest of my work is on word of mouth, and I do not charge by the line nor the hour, but rather by the length of time. I have never advertised, but I do get calls from practically all over the country to do medical transcription. As I said, none of these are for nationals. I have tried that route many many times, but to keep running out of work and constantly being switched from one account to another to another was nonproductive.
They are a great group to work with and
if you are a good MT, very accommodating. Good Luck!
I said there was a group e-mail sent about being out of work.
They were not limiting anything.
This company is actually still in business. I used to work for MRC Group

in Arizona.  I was so intrigued by you posting MRC Group out of Maryland, that I just called the company and talked to Christine.  She stated that MRC Group was bought out by MQ.  Two of the brothers went on and did their own thing, while the other owner and his wife still own a part of MRC Group which is out of Maryland and have an office in Florida.  The owners of this company have been in business for about 40 years now.  The husband and wife have given the company to their daughter to run what is left of MRC Group out of Maryland.  The company has approximately 40 transcriptionists and are currently hiring transcriptionists across the USA who will work from home.  Hope this helps.  I was shocked to hear this news.  Sounds like a very nice office and very upbeat and positive.

2 of the accts running OT in my group of work ARE EXCELLENT sm
Excellent accounts, low ESL, good work. NOT OVERHIRED. GO AWAY.
You are the most immature group of people I have ever encountered. Go to work.
nm
There's plenty of work at Webmedx - my group of accounts is running OT. SM
Again, why don't you ask your manager for MORE WORK?
What lack of work? My STMs group of accounts is constantly offering OT. sm
Maybe you should talk to someone about getting more work? It's out there, within Webmedx, but you need to ask.
Wish they would share this work with
everyone - I'm out of work, just sitting here again. I ask for backup accounts, because I'm willing to type anything, and always get the work is low everywhere answer. Wish these new accounts would get going already.
Can you share where you work? TIA (nm)
nm
Will you share what your problem is with QT? I work there, too. Maybe I can help. nm
xx
Care to share where you work?
I've been looking for a hospital work from home for here in NJ and not having much luck.  Is the hospital in your own state?  TIA
Probably because most of us are expected to do our share and work at least one sm

day of the weekend, at least once or twice a month.  It doesn't bother me to work weekends.  I grew up with my mom in the medical field so the idea that I would be off on weekends never really occurred to me.  I do not have a family or anything, so I only have me to consider.  I usually work holidays too so those who have families can maybe spend some extra time.  Still, that is me.

If that schedule works for you and the company is happy (which would seem to be the case here), that's great.  I wouldn't mind working 10-hour days and having an extra day off, but not sure that is possible with all of the jobs I am juggling right now.  Still, we all can dream.

Again, I am glad you have a good situation for you.  Congrats!

Thanks, and for the record, I do my share of work too.
x
I love Radnet. Can you share who you are going to work for on this? s m
or where the hospital is? I miss transcribing radiology in RadNet and am desperate to get back to it!
I love the company I work for and I just wanted to share
that with you all so that if you are not happy, realize there is hope out there.  I worked for Healthscribe/Spheris for over 2 years until I found this position.  I am a SE for MDI out of Maryland and I make 10 cents per 65 character line including spaces.  This is a great smaller company that does not offshore.  I am left alone to do my work but I have somebody there if I need any questions answered, etc.  QA is wonderful too.  They didn't dump me into an account full time, they let you ease into your account over a 2 week period doing 5 reports a day so you can work your other job until you are taken off of QA.  I was off QA in a week.  My account is great, the platform is great (Bayscribe), production Expander is user friendly.  For all you unhappy MTs, there is hope out there.
Anyone work for Milner in Atlanta who would share your experience? Thanks! nm
x
MedScribe, anyone work for this company that is willing to share your opinion???
I just tested and sent my resume, but I'm in the process of looking at several companies and trying to sort things out.  ty
Work for MQ and would rather share with you all than our ILP (international labor partners). sm
Actually I bet after seeing this on here a lot of MQers will be trying to get on at DSG. We both use Docuscribe and that is certainly a plus IMO.
Go with your gut feelings. nm
x
Anyone work for Spheris doing VR? Could you share experience, pay, line count etc..
Also, what are the benefits like i.e., medical insurance etc??
Anyone with work experience to share on All Type? Choice time once again.....sm
and very happy holidays and merry christmas to everyone out there!  TIA!
Think his/her point was the share of the WEEKEND work. What makes you so special? sm

Everyone else has to work a weekend at least every now and then.

Have to agree. Scratching for work at times. Don't want to share with any more new hires if I d
Sorry if that sounds selfish, but I don't think new hires want to come on board and find the pickings are slim right now either.
I understand your feelings...
It is so hard to be two places at once but if you feel that your son needs your attention right now, call off. They will have to understand. You would call off if you worked in an office right? Just do what is right for you and in the end it will work out...Hope your son feels better!!! Hang in there!!!
you have summed up a lot of feelings and
realities of this once profession and I really appreciate the post...
Believe me I understand your feelings. I had been with MQ
for 17 years, when they starting cutting the ASR rate in 06/2007. I decided then and there the writing was on the wall. I knew it would not be too long before they cut it down to 5 cpl. I was making 10 cpl straight typing, but took a pay cut to work for TT and it was worth it. I am sure things will work you for you. Take care.
I didn't mean to start any bad feelings. I am sorry. nm
x
I understand your feelings, but let me give you
my recent experience. Mind you, I do not recommend just any company or say someone is good if they aren't. I am a seasoned MT who has worn many hats in out field. I recently decided to give MT a try again after running the gamut all the way up to QA manager, but so many problems with companies who pretend to be what they are not. I saw the posts by others that to me seemed unrealistic.

I wrote to Transtech and I was hired. Immediately after hire, I was set up, no wait. The tech guy got his job done and the program worked with no problems.

Their recruiter was very nice, willing to work with you, set a schedule that was workable, etc. These people were the nicest people I have been associated with in a long time.

I found myself unable to do MT on a full-time basis due to back problems and it really broke my heart. I have seen the industry just go downhill through the years and this company to me is just absolutely THE ONE that can lift your spirits in a field that has dampened your spirits.

They may be growing at a fast pace, but their ability to communicate and make you feel like a very important player in their team is something that none of the other companies I know will let you do. You are important to them.

I had to resign just due to my medical problems, but had they had a position available that enabled me to utilize my other skills open, I would not have quit. I really wanted to give MTing a try again with the downward spiral of the upper level jobs in most companies. I will not give my expertise out for next to nothing so I felt I could truly make management money by just going back to MT again as I always made management money doing MT. I guess I was delusional thinking I could make it work. They bent over backwards to give me a great flexible schedule and work with me. Their program had no flaws after one initial problem and the way they decided to solve it.

Trust me, I don't pat a company on the back that has not earned it.

I can tell you I am not a planted person, but I cannot say enough nice things about this company. If there was a position available in their organization that could employ my other skills such as management or supervisory, I would not hesitate to go back.

They are the cream of the crop IMHO and I do not work for them and the brief time I did taught me not to totally give up on this profession because I know of at least ONE excellent company.

BTW, their account was great and the sound was quite good. I cannot commend them enough.
I got the call, too. Mixed feelings here, too, but (sm)
my deep-seated distrust of all large companies of any type causes me to be worried. The call was upbeat, but I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens. This did kinda ruin my day, though.........
I understand your feelings completely...
I also get discouraged because working over the internet we are nothing to these companies. They cannot see us or hear us. They treat us with such lack of respect, and I especially hate the sadistic behavior I see all throughout this industry of women toward women, manipulating people's work and messing with someone's livelihood.

Research online and you can find out each company's profits, yet instead of getting raises and perks, after the companies are profitting millions in 1 year, we have benefit after benefit reduced or taken away, and the pay just keeps decreasing. We are paid whatever they want to pay us. It is like we have no advocacy whatsoever, just like back in the days of slave labor and child labor.

I was hoping the old AAMT would step up to that challenge but they are even more self-oriented than the companies themselves. They are in bed with the competition and playing both sides.
If she was so upset about your letter not representing her feelings...sm
then let her write her own letter and express how the minority in this situation feels!!  Kudos for you in your quest to let the country know what kind of shaft you all got!  Don't ever forget that you have a bunch (and I mean a bunch) of MTs behind you, ex-Heartland or not!
Medical insurance isn't about feelings. It's business. nm

Trust your feelings. Too many good places (sm)
out there.  No sense making yourself ill.   My hope is that someday all the cherry pickers will be put on one big boat and shipped to India to assist in training.
You'll get over the good feelings. I've been here over a year now. (sm)
And if you had seen the subtle changes they have been making, you may agree they are moving in the direction of becoming the new MQ (pre sale to India).
MT Group
I would never work for her again.  Very moody, extremely picky.  She double checks to make sure there are 2 spaces after every period, not 1 and not 3.
mt group
Does anyone have any info on the MT group?  Thanks
MT Group
Too many accounting problems - slow pay, bounced checks, short checks.
MT Group
I have worked for them, and regardless of Melanie's posting, I did have bounced checks, late checks, short checks.
You have that right. Where this group of SM
princes and princesses came from, who knows.  All these demands for certain hours, certain accounts---when you do give it to them the work is ATROCIOUS and they don't finish what they just demanded to have due to family, medical, pet emergency.
seems like one group is

describing their experience at a company and the defenders are attacking the individuals posting with characteric assassination.  Let's be adults here.

ABJ Group? Does anyone
know if they went out of business? Cannot find them anywhere, and their website is not there either.  I also have an email address, but it came back as undeliverable.  Anyone have any current information about them? Thanks.
Yes, there was a group of 12 or more. nm
