Well, I am one of those people who refused to do VR for the reduced rate.  I am not going to let the CEO's of companies capitalize on my experience, without us, these guys (Transcend) would not be making $200K a year with bonuses, yeah they are not making money!  Right!  Then how can the top brass make these salaries with bonuses, where's our bonus for putting up with the terrible VR technology!  I bid them an adieu recently and told them it was just not for me.  I resent being paid 4.58 cpl for full listen on ALL reports.  They maintain we can make more money and justify it with their "studies" than transcription, obviously they have not sat in our chairs and had to edit every single word, comma, period, etc., on these horrible files.  And you guys out there who have not done voice, also keep in mind that the HORRID dictators the VR DOES NOT pick up and you have to transcribe it!  And it's only those that you transcribe, and then there's the others that are well you may as well block, and delete and type yourself, and I will bet you that is what they ALL depend on, us getting tired of the time consuming, labor intensive job of full listen on these VR reports, and we are typing them, and they are getting us typing them for 4 cpl a little more! I SAY NO THANK YOU!  And like the poster said, if we STICK together on this, and refuse VR positions, they will have to pay us more money if they want to keep the accounts, and TAT!  Remember ladies and gentlemen, LOUD VOICES IN NUMBERS, will be heard, we out number the CEO's and they need us to run their companies!  I think a lot of MTs forget if the companies did not have MTs sitting in the chair doing the work for their companies, ah where would their companies be?  VR certainly cannot do it, and if you have ever done VR, you know what I am talking about!

Also, I agree with poster about leaving them high and dry!  And offshore, has anyone ever seen the offshore work, and been exposed to that QA!  I think if in fact it does promote somewhat more offshoring, then the QA positions (which most are hourly, in fact, I am making $20+ an hour for one company to do QA), then those positions would certainly be in demand because very few reports can go directly to the client without being QA'd by American MTs.

In fact, I told management that if they did not bring the line rate up that they would see a mass exodus of MT's, and the reason why it had not happened was because it was relatively new, and not that many MTs had been exposed to VR and were not sure what they were getting into, but once the word was out, they would have a difficult time filling those positions, because there are lots and lots of companies out there that do not do VR, and are always looking for qualified MTs.  I am a recruiter for such a company, and we are always on the look out for good MTs.  So, I wonder if my words are echoing in this managers ears!

Ah, I think the word is out!
