Vonage told me they don't allow MTs anymore.

Anyone currently using Vonage to MT will most likely end up getting the boot once they figure it out. It's only a matter of time.

Vonage.

Go with Vonage
I have had them for many many years and I hardly ever have a problem. It is worth the 27.99 a month! You just need DSL or Cable internet service. They have many features and offer free long distance in Canada and the U.S. I use the phone for many many hours each month and they never complain or try to limit my usage.
Use Vonage.....
www.vonage.com  It's voice-over-IP and you pay about $29 a month for unlimited long distance.  I used it with MDI's system for a long time.
Vonage
Vonage is great BUT after a couple of years they notified me that I had to upgrade to a business line. But after chcking with the other companies in the area I found that they were still a HUGE savings so now I pay about $50 a month for an unlimited business line.
Vonage
I used Vonage for about a year on a C-phone account with MDI-MD until it switched to a web account. It always worked just fine for me. Vonage just seems to work fine for some people nad not for others, so MDI was probably just warning her it wasn't guaranteed to work.
Vonage LD

I have used Vonage for quite sometime now, I had the residential plan for unlimited long distance and last year I got message saying that they were switching my residential account to Business account( about $20 or $25 more) because they looked at my actual use of the line and knew that it was business related so be aware of this. It is still much cheaper though.

Vonage
I have had Vonage for the past 2 years, unlimited long distance, never got a letter about residential or business use.
I had Vonage.....
and the same thing happened to me. If you are on there for 4 STRAIGHT hours, it will disconnect you. I would just watch the clock and hang up before the 4 hours was up. Good luck! I changed companies because I wasn't willing to pay extra for Vonage.
Go to Vonage
It really is unlimited, its through your internet, and it's also a heck of a lot cheaper than AT&T's  business plan.  I know because I have them, kept my same plan with them but added Vonage long distance with their router.
Vonage
Have used Vonage for almost 2 years and it really works for me....cheaper phone bill....unlimited long distance, etc...
Vonage
Is anyone else having a problem with their foot pedal.  This just started about an hour ago.
Yes - Vonage (sm)
I have been using Vonage with C-phone too for months and it works great. I got the $50.00 unlimted plan - and unlike AT&T and some others, it is TRULY UNLIMITED. Hope this helps!

I have Vonage they are great

Vonage won't work with many (sm)
MT set-ups, like C-phone or Lanier. Onesuite.com worked for me -- also got free fax service with it.
So if not Vonage-What else does everyone use with their C-phone?
I really have no idea what is left!
Oh gosh! Not Vonage! Now this is looking very bad...sm

Vonage was misleading
First let me say I LOVE MY JOB!!!!!! I was one of those who used my LOCAL company, then they found out I was abusing the plan. I switched to Vonage. I was upfront with them that I used the line for DATA. They STILL signed me up for the residential plan ($24.95/month). Then, same thing, about a month into that, I received call from Vonage saying I was abusing the plan and I must be switched to Business Plan (I think it's $49.99/month). I STILL LOVE MY JOB but this disconnection is a ROYAL PAIN. I guess if there is no way around it, I'll just grin and bear it. I have worked for MANY other companies and have NEVER been as satisfied as I am with Keystrokes! So, I guess the inconvenience will STILL be worth it in the long run..........
Vonage is good......but not if you have
With high speed internet, it is clear as anything and very cheap at about $25 a month and the first 3 months are free and the equipment is free. Good luck!
vonage is compatible with 911 - you just have to set it up - nm

Vonage, but also have regular ULD as a backup

I spent about $45 a month for the 2 combined, both residential plans.  If I use my ULD (through Qwest) I'm careful how much I'm using so I don't red flag their system.  I haven't had any problem with Vonage for the 2 months I've been there and using it heavy.  I talked to a couple of other people who have used Vonage really heavy for 1-2 years and haven't had a problem, so I decided to go with that.  I only picked up the Qwest ULD recently because my Vonage box malfunctioned and I didn't have any long distance for 3 days until I got a new one, so like I said, the Qwest ULD is now a backup.

Be careful with Vonage. My friend uses
I tried using their modem, I no longer had any internet access.  Called Vonage and they said they never had this problem before, but they hadn't worked out all the bugs yet.  All 3 of my computers would not work.  Had to call my DSL tech department and it took all day long to finally get back on line.  Somehow Vonage fouled up our IP address in cyberspace.  So I lost a day's worth of typing because of trying to use Vonage.  This is very recent, only a week ago.
Vonage, but I know it doesn't work well everywhere (nm)
x
Vonage wouldn't work well enough. I'm in MI if that
helps.
If you do decide to go with Vonage, WARNING: (sm)

Make sure the person who is taking your order understands and speaks coherent English.  I called on 2 separate occasions to open an account, and both times the customer service representative repeated my credit card number INCORRECTLY to me.  This made me very uncomfortable as far as their competency.

Additionally, after these occurrences, I called again and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager and was told that he is in a meeting now and that there was no one else of higher authority that I could speak with.  The call ended by the customer service rep asking me to call back later.  What a hoot!  Yea right buddy. NOT!!!!

I have had Vonage for over a year now and love it.sm
Why hassle with phone calls when you can order it all online at Vonage.com?  That's what I did and had no problems.  I sympathize, though.  I hate when I call and get misinformation, put on hold forever, or some other aggravation.
I had Vonage Friday of last week and
I work for MDI and use Charter. I don't know if my problem was with the cable or with Vonage, but I would be at the end of a job and the Vonage phone would just cut out...sometimes staying connected, just not operational for a little bit (30-60 seconds), or worse, it would just cut off and I lost the job. The job got stuck in never-never land and I could not get it back to finish transcribing it. One job cost me almost 100 lines. So, on Tuesday I got Charter's ULD...the independent sales rep gave it to me for $15/month.
Vonage - 7:00 a.m. central time (sm)
I just tried mine - and it is working fine. Just wanted to let you know...Hope you get yours worked out. I'll check back here in a while to see if I can do anything to help you. (I had the Magic Jack when its pedal SUDDENLY stopped working a few weeks ago and changed to Vonage. I has worked great since...
I don't hesitate to ask. Have been told "yes", and have been told "no." Never been to
:+
Vonage uses your DSL high-speed lines.
Doesn't affect your local service at all and won't replace it, either. It's the same concept as having your DSL and regular phone service.
Starting to panic about using Vonage for LD - need opinions
Thought I was a happy camper waiting for my phone adapter to arrive with my problems for LD solved, ready to give my 2 week notice to MQ - then I found print outs I had from searching for a carrier one other tmie & found one where a bunch of girls using it ended up being knocked off of it too.  I'm really starting to panic.  I have SBC and know all the problems people have had with it - so that's out.  If you're using Vonage - how long have been using it ?  Any problems ?  I tried e-mailing them and got a stupid "canned text" message back.  I really think I'm having a nervous breakdown here and need some suggestions and/or opinions on this.
I tried Vonage a while back, but I didn't think it worked very well at all and got rid of it.
x
Vonage works just fine with my C-phone
and Lanier. I have had it over a year now and have had no problems at all.
We dumped regular landline and got Vonage
HUMUNGUS savings!  You can get unlimited long distance for $25.00, and if you call other people who have Vonage, no charge at all.
KS employee using Vonage, get disconnected every 4 hours no matter what!

Does anyone else have this problem?  I work for Keystrokes and must have unlimited long distance so I use Vonage.  NO MATTER WHAT, every 4 hours I get disconnected.  This has happened when I'm in the middle of a report and when I dial back in, sometimes I DO NOT get that same report back (which is obviously a pain....)  I try and watch the clock and disconnect myself on purpose around the 4-hr mark to avoid this.  Does anyone else know how to get around this???

Current Vonage/Dictaphone users question (sm)

I have been using Vonage with a Dictaphone for 2 years now - with no problem at all.

Recently, in the last few days, the phone line goes dead several times in the day - and occasionally the foot pedal stops working.

I called Vonage, and they reset everything and said I should not be having a problem.  I found out other MT with Vonage who work for us are having the same problem.

Is anyone else having this problem?  We are trying to decide if it is a Vonage problem or not.

Thanks for your input.

Anyone use ViOP(Skype/Vonage) for long distance for C-phone (sm)
Just wondering if VoIP works okay with C-Phone.  I have satellite link-up.  Did a test with Skype (not with C-Phone) and sound quality seemed fine but haven't tried it with a C-phone yet. Skype is only $3 a month.
Not too much anymore
Generally they don't want you working for another company in the same geographical area, but don't say too much about having other jobs. They know it's hard to make a decent living with one. I work for one national as an MT and for a smaller company as an Editor and either cares, they just care if you slack on one to work for the other.
That was last mo. Before that I used to do okay, but that isn't possible at MQ anymore. nm

nm

Yup, most definitely. Can hardly get 200 lph anymore.
x
Rae are you out there anymore?
x
Do you have to use their CPU or don't they do this anymore? Thx. nm
s
I don't think she is there anymore.
nm.
RUN....they don't do DD anymore
x
They don't anymore.
x
Not there anymore but the same
experience because if you ask a question you get many different answers and you never know what one is right.  I hated the platform and QA was the rudest QA I've ever encountered in my 7 years of doing transcription.
Not anymore. Martha is gone. NM
xxxx
Don't work there anymore,
so I can't check. Just wondering if it someone who deserved it or someone who was backstabbed.
I don't work for them anymore because (sm)
my phone started ringing off the hook for new local accounts, so I had to leave them, but if that hadn't happened, I would have stayed.  Very nice, very easy to deal with, always pay on time every week, great accounts.
They don't want to pay benefits anymore.

These are all trip ups for you to lose your benefits.  Power outages, emergencies, nothing matters when it comes to adding up to 40 hours, without which, you become a part timer without benefits - only production and PTO time is accountable towards those 40 hours - and about that so called wonderful PTO time most of us just starting accumulating 11 months ago:

In the 2080 hours which make up a "production" work year, you are now expected to produce 2000 of them with no exception other than the 80 PTO hours.  In  those 80 hours you must fit vacation, sick time for you and kids, holidays, personal time of whatever kind (keeping in mind most of us are the glue of our families;i.e. the mother).  It was better when they didn't give any PTO and you had reasonable, practical, human beings in a office to confer with about when you needed time off - and by the way - if you worked in a 9-5 job, your production time would be 6-1/2 hours a day, not 8.

This, being done to educated professional people who are NOT easily replaced?  I think not .  It's not worth it.  There are still plenty of doctors out there who are willing to work one-on-one with an intelligent person rather than to be slickered by some smooth talking corporate job hunter. So, it's good bye to being a company employee for me.
