Webmedx bought TransHealth, but it appears

they are still 2 separate companies for now, still using both names.  Webmedx had a couple of ads posted this week or last that said they paid QA hourly, but I don't know their rate.  I hated it from day one there but I was an MT.  I don' know how it is on the QA end, though several or us complained about QA because we never got feedback and work was bypassing QA and going directly to the client.  They have overhired MTs, but have severely underhired QA.

Webmedx ad apply at Webmedx or Transhealth ? (sm)
Apply to one address if you need equipment, another if you want to use your own?  Does this mean they are still acting as 2 separate companies?   Can anyone explain this?
Webmedx/Transhealth
Are these 2 companies now merged? Anybody know if they pay QA hourly and if so how much? Is this a good company to work for in QA. Any helpful info is much appreciated.
Webmedx and Transhealth

I have seen a few ads for WebMedX that say:

For candidates who desire company-provided equipment, please fill out our online application at www.webmedx.com  AND For candidates who wish to use their own equipment, please apply online at www.transhealth.com.

I'm confused....does that mean they are the same company?  So you can work as an IC for WMX, but you can only work as SE for Transhealth....Right?

TIA

Also want feedback on TransHealth and WEBMEDX
They both sound like great companies...I'm trying to decide between TransHealth and Webmedx.....both have great websites and I don't think I've seen anything negative about either one of them in the archives. I just don't want to jump out of the MQ frying pan into a bigger fire!
Webmedx or Transhealth? In respect to SM

bennies, pay, # of ESLs, flexibility, etc.

Would love to know your personal experience as I'm seriously considering both.

TIA

Webmedx buys Transhealth.

We received an e-mail today stating this.

Unhappy QA at Webmedx -- Transhealth questions

I'm yet another unhappy CQI/QA member at Webmedx and have to say a big THANK YOU to anyone who has ever spoken up about their negative experiences at Webmedx (though I understand anybody who's too afraid to speak publicly, which seems to be the majority of the QA department!). I realize that it takes much more courage to speak up than kiss up or stay quiet, so I always appreciate anybody who comes to these boards and posts.   And anybody who's been in this industry any amount of time knows that the adage all mention of the company is good advertising doesn't apply to this field.  Things have definitely taken a turn for the worst with the QA portion of the company, IMO.

I have questions about Transhealth, which has been recommended as an alternative to doing QA at Webmedx.   I'd like to know what the upper management of TransHealth is like.  Is the person who manages the QA department someone with a background in MT, or is it someone who is a data puncher but doesn't even do that well?   Do they express support for QA, or do they seek to squelch communication online and in the department through intimidation because they're afraid of criticism and fallout of their decisions?  Do they have several people at the top who handle different departments, or do they have one person in several roles, perhaps all of which they're unqualified for?   What kind of quota is there, and how are you paid?   Does ALL your work count toward the quota, or do you find yourself doing a lot of work that doesn't qualify?

I realize this is much to answer.    Please feel free to add anything else you'd like that would help me make a choice.  Thank you!

TransHealth, Transsolutions, DSG, Webmedx, Spheris

Can anyone give me current information on working as a QA for TransHealth, Transsolutions, DSG, Webmedx, and Spheris?  Do they pay hourly? How do they test? Employee or IC positions? Workflow? Do they require 100% listen on all reports or are some fill in the blanks?

Are there any companies you would recommend for a QA position and can you please provide above-requested info?

Thank you all for your help and kindness in providing any information possible.

Anyone currently working Webmedx/Transhealth radiology would care to share info on them - sm
Are all of the dictators ESL as in the test on the website?  If you sign on as a radiology MT are you still allowed a 12-hour window.  Has workload been fairly consistent? Any info would be greatly appreciated.  I took the test and would like some info before I am contacted.  TIA.
Focus bought by Nuance/Dictaphone, DRC bought by Acusis. nm

Obviously not what it appears to be...
I was hired as a CMT in early 2005, had a very good account. In early 2007 I started SR along with MT on same account and was given 2 more accounts. We lost my main account last November 2007. I have 5 accounts I do MT and/or SR work on. I am available 7 days a week and will work all hours that work is available, management knows this. The work is still slow and I'm still waiting. This you see is what it is that I do, thank you.
It appears to me that there MAY BE
some MTSOs or their sidekicks posting here a lot and I suspect they MAY use a lot of different monikers (or lack thereof).
the above poster appears to me to be a....nm

I appears you don't transcribe

From your post, I gather that you are either QA or QA/recruiting (and maybe hourly?).  I agree that there are some inflated resumes floating around and many MTs do not put out quality work.  Neither of these issues is exclusive to American MTs, though.  I also agree that many MTs quit a job quickly - I'm guilty of this, as well.  There may be a problem with the platform, the interface, the Internet connection, the sound quality, discrepancies in the schedule agreed upon compared to days/hours actually worked, promised percentage of ESL, ability to utilize templates or playouts, workflow, and pay.  These are all issues that can't be foreseen until you actually go to work for a company.  Experienced MTs discuss as many issues as possible with the recruiter prior to hire and hope that the recruiter is honest/informed enough to provide the information necessary, but often that is not the case.  I'm patient with technical problems, as I know they'll be resolved eventually.  But, when you encounter ongoing roadblocks to making a decent living and voicing your concerns to your supervisor/their supervisor/the recruiter gets you nowhere, it's time to move on.  In my opinion, at that point the company has voided the contract, not me.  Your recruiter friend who generally hires twice as many MTs as she needs and ends up holding onto a fourth of them - she's either misstating the conditions of the job or overhiring and starving out the ones who can't afford to sit and wait for something to show up in their queue.  Either way, the MT is the one who loses out.

Zylomed is not what it appears for RAD
Worked there within the last six months. Word-based web platform but tons of demographics and training sucked - not a money maker.
It appears their name is a spoof for (sm)
Medi-Sota, a transcription company. I skimmed through the article and found this as a contact.

Well it appears that that number has been disconnected.

It Appears Censorship is Alive and Well...
here on the MT boards , as my post in reply in this thread has disappeared.
I've seen the light., but it appears dim.

The light you're shedding though seems to be in the rose-colored form, which only means to me that you have been among the few, fortunate MTs, that do not have to put up with the rat race this industry has turned into. The day you remove your rose-colored glasses just might be the day you see how things are for the majority of the working MTs out here.

I despise fighting for files, running out of work, never knowing if I can/will get enough work to earn a decent check. It shouldn't be this way, but it is.

Congrats on your cushy job and all the best to you, I mean that sincerely, but your situation certainly is not the norm in this industry, especially not today.

Check out some recent ads asking for acute care experience. Take a look at the line rates being offered. Then remind yourself of everything you are required to know in order to perform your job successfully as an MT. Think about that for a few, then come back to this board and tell us all how you would feel if you were placed in a position to be looking for a well-paying job, and do let us know how you would honestly feel.
It appears to do only the document you are in. As I trust my co. to tally for me, I don't know m
about the function. You might be able to write a macro to do that...but I have no idea how to do that.
The way your grammar appears in this post, TT would probably not want to hire you.
FYI -- you sound like a foreigner to me
I agree. Bad supervisors are common at Spheris it appears. NM.

What I just bought
Go to stedmans.com and get the AAMT Book of Style and also the Stedman's Spellchecker CD-ROM. They will bill you for these, and you will be happy that you bought them! You will also love working at home if you can pace yourself and refuse to be distracted, especially with the price of gasoline as it is.
Is all of this because when MQ bought YOG SM
they continued to pay the MT's what they were receiving at YOG, which was more than MT's at MQ made? Now everyone will be making the same amount or less?

I don't work for MQ, so I don't know, this is just what I gathered talking to friends.
They were bought out by MQ. NM

This is the co that was bought by the guy from ddi
that left when MQ bought them
Well, I bought one
and got the reimbursement. I work at home, but I still drive.
Bought it new. It is an HP.

I was with the co they bought and we had sm

a nice situation.  Here comes the CEO promising us we were going to know every day how much we're valued, how important we are.  Not so.  For the first 6 months it was okay, hard to get used to all the management we suddenly had, but then things started going downhill.  Then the push with the VR.  Seems to me that most of our work is going to be VR work and they're probably aware they pay more than the other companies - so it will not surprise me at all if they take that away now.

I hate these town hall calls, They never contain anything good for the people who are doing the grunt work.

HS bought out by Spheris
I was working for Healthscribe when Spheris bought them out; I have to say that I have had nothing but a positive experience with them thus far.  We don't seem to be micromanaged; quite the contrary.  I can get up and walk around to stretch my legs and at times am gone for 20 minutes or so and no one calls me or e-mails me.  Communication is wonderful from my supervisor on up to management.  The only downside is that they are so short-staffed that there is mandatory overtime for the radiology accounts so if you want to make $$$, this would be the place to go.  Hope this is helpful.
I believe Transcend bought MDI?

Duh, they bought Heartland...

When we bought our van last year,
But the cost was $10,000 higher than the Toyota. We're not talking a small amount here - $10,000 difference (more if we would have added the extras to the Dodge, that were standard on the Toyota). As soon as the prices of the American cars start coming down, people will buy them. Right now - it's more expensive to buy American, with worse quality and no standard features - everything is extra. Very disappointing and COSTLY.

According to my dictionary transcriber is a person. It only takes a second to look it up.
Do you think that MDI is the same since they were bought by Transcend? sm
I have thought of going back (left a few years ago and took a few years off after having twins nine months after another baby) but I am worried about that. I have a friend who works there and she is complaining a lot, but she tends to be a complainer so I am not sure what to do.

I also was on clinic notes and prefer radiology. Maybe they are doing more rad. I do remember seeing that they were paying a sign-on bonus.

I am just looking for some answers before I make the wrong move.
SPI bought CyMed....US MTs look out....
They will tell you not to worry.....all the while transitioning your job to an MT in India or Manila.    Get out while you can!
Is Accuscribe still out there or have they been bought out? nm
.
Anybody know anything about who SPI supposedly bought yet?
I really hope its not Medware.
Acusis bought out DRC . .nm
nm
Acusis bought DRC.
.
Not only that, but maybe the reason they bought DRC & are looking - sm
to buy many others, has nothing to do with quality US transcription. Maybe they want to eliminate US-based companies so that the clients will have NO choice. It could end up being a choice between - Indian or Pakistani?
Maybe South African or Filipino?
Turkish or Chinese?
I also tried it. Even bought the latest..sm
version they claimed to be so much better etc. I tried it and it was a complete waste of time and money. It does not work like they say and I spent a considerable amount of time with it. IT is the way to go. Much more worth it and so much easier.
Won't see that. They were bought out by Nuance. NM

I just bought yesterday,
some Phillips iPod ear buds from Walgreen's for $20 and I LOVE them! They have 3 different size ear buds you can attach with a little spongy rubber ring that cancels out all background noise. They are comfy, too, as they finally made a small enough ear bud to fit in my little ears. Definitely worth a try!
There is only one MDI now (MDI-MD). The other MDI in FL was bought by Transcend. nm
