Yep..one word to describe Superior

Posted By: Same here. on 2009-09-07
In Reply to: Went thru very similar situation with Superior... - BTDT

Flaky. I was told they liked my resume and was exactly what they were looking for and immediately asked to complete their testing as they were filling the position right away. I took the time and did the test and then NOTHING. Not a word. I repeatedly left messages and emails asking what happened and no one had the common courtesy to contact me back. I found that rude and unprofessional and would never apply with them again.

What you describe happened to me, too.
Oh, wait. They already did.
Everything you describe in your first paragraph
is exactly what Im dealing with right now. I got put to a lower tier, cpl was cut by almost 2 cents. They gave me the act. from Hades, too. (i hope I am NEVER a patient at that miserable hospital!) My former M-F 8-hr days have turned into M-Sat or Sun 12 hour days. The platform has been as slow as molasses all summer. All I ever do any more is work. Yet as of tonight, the day after payday, my fridge is EMPTY, and so is my bank account. It all went to pay bills, and there still wasn't enough left over for my meds, still languishing on a shelf somewhere at the pharmacy in town.

The only bright part of my day today was reading your description of the 'Rectangle of Revulsion'. It's true, and disgusting, but still the description had me LOL.
Bad doesn't even begin to describe it!
I'm all for giving anybody the benefit of the doubt, but if this is actually OSi doing this, they're stooping to the pits of desperation and I don't know who they think would ever trust them after such cheap tactics.
I would work 2 jobs, but the job you describe above would not be one of them!
I don't believe I would do the job you described at all...first, second, or third!
What you describe here fits my situation to a T
I am resting this afternoon from the stress, and want to see what kind of work I can get at my regular IC job. Maybe that is where I need to stay. It is more flexible too. In my whole career at my original job they never were like that with me, I was never made to feel paranoid about bad worktypes or cherry picking. We just kept running out of work around the holidays. DH and I talked about it and maybe I need to try harder at the IC and maybe pick up something along side it. Just a couple of weeks on this other and the migraines have started and so have the worries.
Personally, I would relocate for the type of job you describe sm

especially under the terms and conditions you descsribed, i.e. relocation fees paid, paid by the line (although of course it would depend upon the line rate), great benefits, at-home option -- what's not to like?  I have no ties at my current location, and, in fact, have been thinking of moving somewhere new, just a fresh start in a new location -- sounds kind of exciting to me.  I even thought about Alaska.  I recently saw an ad by a hospital that was offering a $5000 sign-on bonus!  However, as beautiful as it is, with the long days/nights, I do not think I am cut out for living in Alaska. ... sigh.    The only drawback, I suppose, would be factoring in the difference in the cost of living.  Right now, I am in the midwest and the cost of living is pretty low compared to the east.  Still ........... I would love to hear more about the position if you decide to import someone.

I have been doing medical transcription for about 30 years now, and have been working at home for the last 5-6 years.  Something new is always welcome.

Good luck in your quest!

I would respectfully use the words "force" or cause to describe....sm
what happens to some (far from all) MTs. I can speak from some experince after more than 16 years. My first job as MT (I was a certified administrative medical assistant and surgical tech before that) was for a new husband-wife team. They were kind, positive, complimentary, approachable....but pay was low. I was promised, continuously, that I would be receiving raises, and although my productivity was superior and work was always well with TAT (and always available for STATS, correspondence, and overtime), I was constantly put off and having to beg; stayed there 2 years. At another point, I was promised to be able to return after maternity leave, but alas, several accounts had left and I was advised to sit tight. The utility companies were not happy with that answer, not the bank with our mortgage. At another point, I had a wonderful hospital job, high pay, great bennies, when the board elected a new chief officer and all transcription except for some of the pathology and most radiology was outsourced. Another company, two years down the road, great pay, very happy, worked tons of overtime, always there, and they sold out to a huge conglomerate and only told the MTs when it was a done deal. A great national, down the road, hired to have one primary, perhaps one or two secondary accounts...one year later, I am transcribing for SIX different hospital accounts and was so looking up doctor lists and all kinds of hospital account information that I had to work 12 hours (with two toddlers at home) to make about 5 hours of pay, and I was eating and practically sleeping at my computer. And I know, from keeping in touch with MTs over the years from all states, all differing situations, that many honest, hard-working, intelligent MTs are getting much the same treatment and MORE. (I only gave some of my highlights here). Yes, I have been very happy at times, but it never seemed to last, and I never intentionally hopped. Most MTs hate it, the test taking, the interviews, the phone calls, the e-mails, the searching, the worries...I think intentional job hoppers are probably in the minority, but that is just my opinion. I love this field, but I have come close to leaving it so very many times and using other parts of my college education and training....call me a sucker for punishment, I just enjoy the learning, the challange, and the fascination of medical science from all perspectives. Please, give MTs some of their dignity back, how many other fields have gone 15 years with hardly a 2 cent per line change, while continuously upgrading references, equipment, ISPs, continuing education, etc??? Only my opinion.
I didn't hear you describe being treated

like dirt.  If there are other things she did that were horrible, feel free to share.  You agreed to 6 cpl and meeting the courier.  If you are the employee with the least seniority and perhaps the least experience, it makes sense that you would get the most inconvenient work setup.  It's called paying your dues.  No need to call a successful businesswoman greeeeeeeeedy.

So what did she do that was so awful?

LOL .. those 3 words would describe my ex's IQ, bank account and ... uh .. LOL

Horrible doesn't even begin to describe them. If you'll search

the archives you'll get more details and lots of people saying the same thing.  You can also click on the post that says related messages (or something like that) in your original post and it will pull up other posts.

This company advertises ALL the time and it isn't because they are getting new accounts.

The platform is Word. Their program works with Word but does not change how Word works. nm
The benefits just changed the first part of this month. I don't have them but I remember them being reasonabl for a single person. Family and spouse was not reasonable in any way (in my opinion).

Pros and cons please.
In his ad, he's asking for Word Perfect, not Word, if that matters. nm

The platform is not Word, but it is Word-based. I
had little Word experience and the recruiter told me to try to find a book to learn the basics of Word as their program is Word-based.
Now I wish they would just call me back......no word no word and
What is up with these MT companies that advertise. They don't even answer. I have a great resume, tons of experience. I'm confused.
word for word company
does anyone know about word for word transcription company?  how are they to work for, platform?  thanks in advance!
I was told I could use word pad since I don't have word

I have 1 computer to speak of that I did not buy personally.  the company has their own platform and their own computer to be rented.  I would not be typing in word.  I have never had a problem testing this way before.  I am not saying certified is better.  I was explaining my circumstance.  I have my own personal computer ordered for my use and I wanted to test fast without waiting. geez.

SUPERIOR

Does anyone know what Superior is paying for acute care?  What about editing for acute care?  I have been approached by them for this area and do not want to make a change that would put me in a worse position than I am in now.  Do they have a lot of ESLs?  I have read some of the previous posts about them - both good and bad.  I am just looking to make a change, but want to be very careful and not get burned.  My position now is part-time and I can get no answer as to when my workload will pick up.  I am considering looking elsewhere for employment (part-time) as I only transcribe on an average of two days per week.   I was thinking retail or something close by my home, as I live in a very populated city and there are many part-time jobs available.  I hate to think about doing acute care for 8 or 9 cents per line.  Thanks.

superior
everything the above replier says is true.
superior

I heard from a very good source they require 2400 lines per day.  Have not verified it.

Superior Global
You know - I left there 2 weeks ago.  I know from a past experience - this company holds checks.  You are one of the lucky ones who if you get your check on-time if they do not bounce.  Does anyone know if contractors have any rights?  Are they allowed to hold money even if the equipment has been returned?
Superior Global
I have been very happy with this company. The checks arrive on time and they leave me alone and let me do what I do best.
Superior Global

Just wondering if anyone knows anything good or bad about Superior Global - thanks

Superior Global

This company is a waste.  First of all - they bounce checks to most of their employees.  They say they do not outsource - but they do.  The owners run and hide at payroll time -- constantly have their phones shut off, and the insurance is constantly canceled as they do not pay the premiums.  Not to mention, they still owe the overseas group greater than 20,000.

Superior Global
I just heard the same story today. They don't pay!

I have never been in a situation where I broke my back typing for 15 days and had to beg for my money. I couldn't think of anything worse, except of course illness.
Superior Global
I completely agree, worked for them. Pay was not on time, typical excuses. I left there in a hurry. There are other jobs where they do pay on time believe me please.
Superior Global
Somebody asked about Superior Global a few weeks ago............the same things were said about not paying on time. This is not just a rumor. This is true...........Please listen or you will be out on the street waiting to get paid by this company............Unless they have changed.
Superior Global
I know that the small company that I was previously employed with lost all of their HCA accounts to Superior Global and most everyone that had worked with me went to work for them. I chose not to, as I was tired of radiology work. From what I hear, these people are happy. They are working on accounts that they have worked on in the past and have plenty of work. I don't know for a fact that they outsource, I just know that my friends are not hurting for work and like the change to Superior from the company we had worked for previously. They also had no compete contracts, but have not been legally pursued by the other company - probably because they lost all their accounts and can't afford to sue anyone now.
superior globa
True, true. You must have worked there the same time I did. I did have direct deposit and the first few times the pay was on time, but then around Christmas, we had to remind them that it was payday. the big account they lost when I was there was with a hospital in Alabama.
re: superior global
I received an email from this company in response to an email that I'd sent a long time ago. I did some research on a few different sites and found lots of negatives in regards to pay.

I emailed them back and stated that I was not seeking a position. I later thought about it and decided that I wanted to get the info directly from the source. I emailed the individual and stated that I had read that there were problems with MTs being paid in a timely matter and asked if this was true. I never received a response.

I don't want to work for any company who cannot pay me on time.
Superior Global
I heard they don't pay either!
pay at Superior Global
Any idea what Superior Global pays for experienced hospital transcriptionists??
Superior Global
Pay is low and sometimes late. Not very well organized and many accounts are on Meditech that doesn't allow you to work in Word, then cut and paste into Meditech.
Superior Global sm

I don't think I'm going to go with this company.  I found out they don't have direct deposit.   I don't like late paychecks and I don't like my check mailed to me.  About 10 years ago, I worked as an IC and had my check mailed to me.  One time it was mailed to another company instead of to me.  It was cashed.  Luckily, the company returned the money to me.  I don't think I want to do that again.

Thanks for the input.

Superior Global
The VPN there is very slow. You cannot make any money. You have to jump through a ton of different windows before you even begin to type. I did work for them one day and quit -- they never paid me for what I did either.
Superior Global
I previously worked for them and they were great people. Pay was always on time (direct deposit)
Superior Global
Anyone have any new info on Superior Global?  I was thinking of applying, but can't find any recent info.  Thanks!
Superior Global
Anyone working for Superior Global, comments? Steady work?  ESLs?
Superior Global seems to have a 1 up from old

Superior pay is low if you have experience nm

Superior Global
Low, low pay. Combination of VR and traditional transcription. I work there but am getting out. They pay at the poverty level. An insult to an experienced transcriptionist. I have no idea about Alltype.
What does Superior Global pay for VR on eS? nm
x
VR - Superior global
Cannot remember exactly, but it is somewhere in the 3-4 cent range per line for editing and then if you get anything that requires typing, it is 9 cents a line.  I am a little confused myself as to how this actually works.  I have been thinking about doing this myself part-time, but I just hear nothing positive about VR.  You can email kboudreaux@superiorglobal.com and she can tell you for sure about the money.  Good Luck.
About Superior Global
I was hired and worked there for maybe one month.  They really pressured me to get started and once I got hooked up with everything, as I had to buy a different foot pedal, which was not easy to come by -- well then I was ready to start and they had no work to send me.  This kept on happening for one week and then I quit.  I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden they had no work and would not send me anything.  I would never go with this company and highly advise anyone not to waste their time applying.  They are very disorganized and promise you work, but then turn their back on you.   Thumbs down.
