I didn't hear you describe being treated

like dirt.  If there are other things she did that were horrible, feel free to share.  You agreed to 6 cpl and meeting the courier.  If you are the employee with the least seniority and perhaps the least experience, it makes sense that you would get the most inconvenient work setup.  It's called paying your dues.  No need to call a successful businesswoman greeeeeeeeedy.

So what did she do that was so awful?

I said MAY NOT hear, didn't say you wouldn't hear. There is
a difference, and many people have said they knew they didn't do well on the tests, but still feel like they should have heard from companies and haven't.
I didn't hear anything about the new
benefits. I work for them and have not been told anything about a change in benefits for 2006!
I didn't hear anything and then I sent another after
I saw they had ortho editing...hope to hear something!!  Would like to know the details at least to know if I would be a candidate or not.
I didn't hear from them either.
I also know I did well on the test, but like most companies, not even the courtesy of a reply!
Thanks! I'm glad to hear that, I didn't think anyone used it anymore! I'm glad to hear so
I'll definitely check them out!
Didn't hear a thing.
Too good to be true, I guess.
Be glad you didn't hear.
Why? Stella and crew are psychopaths. You will pay them to use their software license to boot, won't be included in your contract, unless of course, my experience with them has changed that. I have a horror story to tell with this company, believe me.

The most controlling and thorougly unprofessional MTSO I have ever had the displeasure to work with. No wonder they are advertising...they can't keep good MTs.

You didn't hear wrong
They called me about being QA and we were told the same thing, you get paid for what you change, but you listen to everything.  Then they told me I didn't pass the test, did I want to type (why would they want a typist if you don't pass the QA test).  Then I told them no way, they called back months later and wanted to interview me for QA, so I talked to the lady, then they emailed back and said they had all they needed.  Can anybody see the bubble over my head?
wonder why I didn't hear that on my call
hmmmm
Did anyone hear from the MT w/the 2 flexible PT jobs? I didn't. nm
s
Now, did you hear me say I didn't love him? I just have a man who wants to pamper me and why not.
I have my own money too kiddo, I'm not that dumb! I have a great man and a great life here and I'm loving it! Lots of love, lots of free time and more importantly, not slaving at the computer for peanuts!
Didn't you hear the latest? They are wanting everyone to submit a name ...sm
change through the local chapters to be able to include everyone.

Who invited the Indians anyway???
I was on the conference call but didn't hear rates..Thank You! (nm)

I didn't HEAR of it being over $500 each month..I see it taken out of my check every 2 weeks..(sm
$254 each pay period.  I honestly hope you're right that the final paperwork was signed last Friday because I had decided to have it discontinued after the March 15 paycheck and either look on my own or go without coverage for a while until I find a more reasonable plan.  The insurance itself is great but too high.  I can't imagine how you are paying only $184 per month and I have been paying over $500 since December 2006 for single coverage!
Don't sweat it. Be glad you didn't hear back.

Are you talking about the one with the 2 radiology jobs? I didn't hear back either...nm

Pay for what you describe should be more like
nm
What you describe happened to me, too.
Oh, wait. They already did.
Everything you describe in your first paragraph
is exactly what Im dealing with right now. I got put to a lower tier, cpl was cut by almost 2 cents. They gave me the act. from Hades, too. (i hope I am NEVER a patient at that miserable hospital!) My former M-F 8-hr days have turned into M-Sat or Sun 12 hour days. The platform has been as slow as molasses all summer. All I ever do any more is work. Yet as of tonight, the day after payday, my fridge is EMPTY, and so is my bank account. It all went to pay bills, and there still wasn't enough left over for my meds, still languishing on a shelf somewhere at the pharmacy in town.

The only bright part of my day today was reading your description of the 'Rectangle of Revulsion'. It's true, and disgusting, but still the description had me LOL.
Bad doesn't even begin to describe it!
I'm all for giving anybody the benefit of the doubt, but if this is actually OSi doing this, they're stooping to the pits of desperation and I don't know who they think would ever trust them after such cheap tactics.
I would work 2 jobs, but the job you describe above would not be one of them!
I don't believe I would do the job you described at all...first, second, or third!
What you describe here fits my situation to a T
I am resting this afternoon from the stress, and want to see what kind of work I can get at my regular IC job. Maybe that is where I need to stay. It is more flexible too. In my whole career at my original job they never were like that with me, I was never made to feel paranoid about bad worktypes or cherry picking. We just kept running out of work around the holidays. DH and I talked about it and maybe I need to try harder at the IC and maybe pick up something along side it. Just a couple of weeks on this other and the migraines have started and so have the worries.
Yep..one word to describe Superior
Flaky. I was told they liked my resume and was exactly what they were looking for and immediately asked to complete their testing as they were filling the position right away. I took the time and did the test and then NOTHING. Not a word. I repeatedly left messages and emails asking what happened and no one had the common courtesy to contact me back. I found that rude and unprofessional and would never apply with them again.
Personally, I would relocate for the type of job you describe sm

especially under the terms and conditions you descsribed, i.e. relocation fees paid, paid by the line (although of course it would depend upon the line rate), great benefits, at-home option -- what's not to like?  I have no ties at my current location, and, in fact, have been thinking of moving somewhere new, just a fresh start in a new location -- sounds kind of exciting to me.  I even thought about Alaska.  I recently saw an ad by a hospital that was offering a $5000 sign-on bonus!  However, as beautiful as it is, with the long days/nights, I do not think I am cut out for living in Alaska. ... sigh.    The only drawback, I suppose, would be factoring in the difference in the cost of living.  Right now, I am in the midwest and the cost of living is pretty low compared to the east.  Still ........... I would love to hear more about the position if you decide to import someone.

I have been doing medical transcription for about 30 years now, and have been working at home for the last 5-6 years.  Something new is always welcome.

Good luck in your quest!

I would respectfully use the words "force" or cause to describe....sm
what happens to some (far from all) MTs. I can speak from some experince after more than 16 years. My first job as MT (I was a certified administrative medical assistant and surgical tech before that) was for a new husband-wife team. They were kind, positive, complimentary, approachable....but pay was low. I was promised, continuously, that I would be receiving raises, and although my productivity was superior and work was always well with TAT (and always available for STATS, correspondence, and overtime), I was constantly put off and having to beg; stayed there 2 years. At another point, I was promised to be able to return after maternity leave, but alas, several accounts had left and I was advised to sit tight. The utility companies were not happy with that answer, not the bank with our mortgage. At another point, I had a wonderful hospital job, high pay, great bennies, when the board elected a new chief officer and all transcription except for some of the pathology and most radiology was outsourced. Another company, two years down the road, great pay, very happy, worked tons of overtime, always there, and they sold out to a huge conglomerate and only told the MTs when it was a done deal. A great national, down the road, hired to have one primary, perhaps one or two secondary accounts...one year later, I am transcribing for SIX different hospital accounts and was so looking up doctor lists and all kinds of hospital account information that I had to work 12 hours (with two toddlers at home) to make about 5 hours of pay, and I was eating and practically sleeping at my computer. And I know, from keeping in touch with MTs over the years from all states, all differing situations, that many honest, hard-working, intelligent MTs are getting much the same treatment and MORE. (I only gave some of my highlights here). Yes, I have been very happy at times, but it never seemed to last, and I never intentionally hopped. Most MTs hate it, the test taking, the interviews, the phone calls, the e-mails, the searching, the worries...I think intentional job hoppers are probably in the minority, but that is just my opinion. I love this field, but I have come close to leaving it so very many times and using other parts of my college education and training....call me a sucker for punishment, I just enjoy the learning, the challange, and the fascination of medical science from all perspectives. Please, give MTs some of their dignity back, how many other fields have gone 15 years with hardly a 2 cent per line change, while continuously upgrading references, equipment, ISPs, continuing education, etc??? Only my opinion.
LOL .. those 3 words would describe my ex's IQ, bank account and ... uh .. LOL

Horrible doesn't even begin to describe them. If you'll search

the archives you'll get more details and lots of people saying the same thing.  You can also click on the post that says related messages (or something like that) in your original post and it will pull up other posts.

This company advertises ALL the time and it isn't because they are getting new accounts.

I'm still not over the way they treated me
I am excellent and highly experienced and I was given voice recordings that were re recorded and impossible to hear, I was yelled at. I'd rather scrub toilets than work for them. They were like the sweatshops of olden days, but mostly I resent the way I was treated and not appreciated at all... a no blanks account. It's been quite a while and I still cringe to think of them.
Treated like IC
No, I'm treated like an IC now, work whatever hours I want. I've enjoyed working for Focus, I like my primary account a lot - not too many ESLs. I just don't want to be forced to be employee status.
Sorry you were treated that way
I have been with the company quite awhile, and while they are generally nice, they do tend to push a bit and can be short on empathy. They do pay on time and have decent benefits, but the TR platform is designed to make more money for the company (I'm certain), as that silly drop down menu for headers slows you down. The supervisors are generally nice, but all business. Very Sorry about your father.
Anyone that applied with Kathy Kirby hear anything yet? I am wondering how long it takes to hear a
response back
YES! Exactly! If we want to be treated like mature
Have a little integrity.
I am surprised you were treated this way after only ONE day of being ill.
:+
HA! Totally! That is exactly how she treated me!

ICs treated like employees

I absolutely agree.  I've turned down several IC jobs this year simply because the contract made it sound too much like an employee situation.  One company even referred to themselves as the employer and me as the IC.

I also don't like being treated like rented equipment when an employee.  I can't believe my own high level of gullibility in being drawn into situations that never turn out as good as the prospective employer made them sound.

There is one company that I work for as an IC.  They said that they want 20 hours per week, but I've never received any complaints when I've only worked 10 hours.  Also, they do send out SOS emails, but I only read their emails (separate email address just for them) when I'm actually working.  I've repeatedly thanked them for keeping me informed of the status of the account on my days off.

Unfortunately, I have no real solutions to offer.  But, as a relative newbie to this career, I am still shocked at the way that MTs have allowed companies and/or dictators to abuse them with bad dictations, for one thing.  The way it goes is that we stress and strain and send to QA, ask for samples, etc, when IMHO the report should go back to the sender to be fixed, period.  Also, IMHO, every report should be proofread for accuracy before any signatures are placed on it.  Whether proofread or not, the dictator should assume full responsibility for the accuracy of the report; electronic signatures are not good.  My opinion.

And MTs don't stay if they don't like how they are treated.

Treated best during the recruitment
I would say, 95% of the time, whenever I've interviewed and accepted a new job, looking back, I would not that the best treatment I ever received from anyone in that company was during the recruitment process.  It was the same with my two late husbands.  During the dating and engagement period, they treated me the best that I was ever treated.  After I made the commitment to them, they didn't try as hard to be so nice.  So, if the recruitment process is anything but tolerable, I can generally expect that the rest of my experience with that company will be worse.  I'm sure there are exceptions, but this scenario has been true for me most frequently.
Search...there are much better companies, as far as how you will be treated...nm
xx
I have been treated with the utmost courtesy
and consideration since I started. I have had some trouble hitting my line count, and I have not been harrassed or threatened once. I'm getting my lines now, and I'm glad that everyone hung in there with me. I'm part-time, and don't miss the nights or weekends at all. No place works for everyone, but Amphion is definitely worth considering. I've never had an equipment problem, they pay on time, and they leave you alone during the day to work. So far, so good.
Not exactly. Agree with post below. If you like being treated like...

Loyal to HTS - they've treated me well
I have no concern as to your credentials. I speak solely of my experience with HTS.
Let me address some of your facts. You state: Not enough tech support (not available evenings or weekends My experience: They have been available to me 24/7 for ten years. You state: No raises. My experience: Frequent raises. You state: ..their hands are tied. My experience: What does this even mean? I have never experienced anything along these lines. If there is a problem, they resolve it. Period. You state: Many people in this organization are related to the current owner (red flag). My experience: Again, what?? I know many of them, and of those I know none are related to one another, let alone the owner. Spare us your red flag. You state: The current owner makes it a habit to bash the prior owner, tell you all sorts of dirty laundry, goes on and on about how she cannot afford to give raises, yet she's managed to dwindle down this pay off mighty quick. It's an attitude thing. My experience: One of the nicest women I have every worked with/for. Very considerate of her MTs and their personal needs as well as professional. It IS an attitude thing. On both sides of the equation. You state: There is not always work. My experience: Never, ever have I not been able to work in ten years. Never. They accommodate me around every turn. If my main account is low, I can request another account and that request is fulfilled immediately. You state: (re: tech guys)..their hands are tied based on minimal programs and/or education. My experience: I should be so lucky as to have a fraction of their knowledge. You state: The owner wanted me to stay. My response: Why? No MT is indispensible. You state: The problems with HyperType are solely due to how the company is run. My experience: No clue what this refers to - not enough work? not enough money earned? tech? no embroidered golf shirts? To posters Looking and Leigh - I wish you the same success I have had with HTS. There are many MT companies out there, obviously, offering many different packages that may or may not suit your needs. Hypertype is a well-run company that has never come up short in any regard in my experience. Rest assured that if you chose to work with HTS and keep up your end of the deal in terms of providing quality transcription, you will be appropriately compensated and have the pleasure of dealing with some really great people.

meant to say the way U DEMAND 2 b treated..NM

Treated badly? Wow! That narrows it down
LOLOL
people should treat others the way they want to be treated. nm
.
Me too, similar experience and was not treated well. nm
x
Why do you guys stick around to be treated like this? sm
How awful! Come to Webmedx where people are nice and answer your questions!
If they would have treated past employees better
they would not have to be in such a bad position. Just shows that for MTSOs as well as everyone else, what goes around comes around.
If you wanted to be treated worse
than crap, constantly lose accounts and have no work then go for it; otherwise run quickly the other way. I agree, I would not work for them again if they were the last company on earth!
was treated like dirt... and shoved out the door. don't do it.
x
and if you can be satisfied with being treated like a piece of crap
