Your comments are awful harsh considering

you missed the ENTIRE point of her post.

I can only hope you edit reports with better comprehensive skills than you used in reading that post.

Found comments last year saying they were awful but not why. nm
s
Why so very few comments regarding Diskriter? Are comments by employees not permitted SM
on public forums. I have always been interested to see comments on this company, as they are constantly advertising and seem to have an attractive employee package. Unfortunately, never seeing comments on MT boards makes me extremely uneasy. I'm sure they could have stipulations in their contracts that prevent them from commenting, but even so I would expect to see good or bad comments even from ex-employees. Hmmm? Plus, if the anonymity is supposed to be in place on these boards, how can it hurt for employees to make a general comment, good or bad?
According to a friend, awful, awful,
Low pay, bad accounts etc..
that was a little harsh

Lots of career moms go to work everyday and place their children in reputable childcare.  There are also moms out there who are home all the time with their kids and they'd get better care elsewhere.  Perhaps the OP has a supportive family nearby that would be willing to help out.

I think your comments were very judgmental and not helpful at all.

Harsh?

I would never sit around and so ho-hum and it's the fault of the company.  What should I have said?

Please.  No one needs to sit around in this industry if there are plenty of jobs posted.  One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Instead of feeling sorry for ourselves, why not find a better job?  We're not worth it?

I'm not one to sugar coat.  We can't be lazy.  We have to look for a better job if there's no work.

That was a little harsh!
I never post on here when someone is being rude to a fellow MT, but I have to put in my 2 cents here. You are right, however, when you say that Christmas bonuses are a thing of the past. I've been in this business for many years, and have seen the decline in pay and respect. I would recommend picking up something part-time to offset the slow times rather than up and quitting. Most of us are in the same boat, and it is being felt everywhere, not just in the MT business. We should be here to encourage one another, not discourage. I, for one, am luckier than some of my friends and family who have been forced out of a job due to downsizing or companies being shut down completely. I wish everyone the best for this holiday season, and to focus on everything there is to be thankful for in this recession!!
Wow, that was harsh
Geesh
Harsh

I am a Synernet employee and found the post to be harsh. I don't see an inner circle, I saw friends and co-workers who supported another in a time of need. I also do not feel like a robot and of step child. I have never been denied time off. I may have had to make up time if it was a busy time of year, but never been denied.  Instead of complaining, let's be grateful that (a) you have a job and (b) you are not the person in charge of 90+ transcriptionist, their time off schedules, the system and the one answering emails and phone calls and dealing with MTs issues and customer issues.  Discussing MT issues is one thing but attacking a person who lost a loved one is going to far.

Oh, really harsh you say
Direct quote from that post: into an even lower-paid position as a VR editor. In the latter case, the MT's knowledge is devalued even further. I have no problem editing or knowing how people unfamiliar with VR thinks someone right off th street could do. What would be hard about reading along on a report?? I stand behind all I said.
sounds harsh, but...
If your work was not up to par in a job setting outside of your home would you be allowed to continue in that position?  I really doubt it, at least I have not seen it at any place I ever worked at before I became an MT who worked from home.  I am sorry for your situation, but you cannot realistically expect an employer to carry you because of personal issues.  They are paying you to work.  If your work is not cutting it then they have every right to let you go.  Best of luck to you.  Hope things turn around soon.
Seems a bit harsh. Obviously, since others have tested with no sm
problem, must be your issue.  As I recall, the instructions say to call or email if you have any problems.  Perhaps it is you who should READ.
Wow..too harsh for me.. I mean I think I know what the heck I'm doing but maybe I really don't
what the heck I am doing, according to her.  This ad is a crackup. Any ideas on who is it?
Wow, that was unnecessarily harsh.
She was just asking a simple question. If all you are going to do is bash the person for asking, don't respond.

Yes, it would be a HIPPA violation if her husband is able to see the patient's information, i.e. name, medical record #, etc.

Sorry you got bashed for asking.
That's not harsh. Some people just

The husband could be a partner.  I had my husband do my deliveries when I wasn't allowed to drive after surgery and no one questioned this as a violation.  They were glad he did it.  And my husband could care less whose names are on those papers; really in all honesty.

Furthermore, who really knows who is sending the work at any given time.  There was another poster here that said her nephew delivered tapes to a subcontractor and left in the screen door.  I mean come on?  Was that a violation?  NOT!

not harsh at all; it's time.
nm
I agree you got some harsh replies.
Not sure why some people feel they need to give a reply when all they wish to express is their own irritability. I'm guessing the tone of their replies has nothing to do with the question. At least, I saw nothing unusual or annoying about your post. But I can't answer your question either.
Okay, don't be harsh, need info on Amphion, sm

saw the posts from below, not happy, but not enough for me to say hey or nay. Where I am coming from I know it can't be worse but I really want a good fit. Thanks for all who can inform me.

Wendy....Post a bit harsh
Maggie, your post was a bit harsh.  Yes there are those who whine and complain, but a lot comes with experience to include whining and complaining.  As well, you really do not know what financial situation an MT may be experiencing.  While, I agree with most of what you state, I find that you lack compassion for those who may not have the experience and knowledge that you do. I cannot say enough about the mentors/teachers I have had along the way.   I had only one bad experience over the past 16 years working at home as an MT..  I have found work that may not be a good fit for the company or for me, software that is not productive for MTs (which can be cumbersome, time consuming, and frustrating), companies selling to another company, companies going out of business, losing business, etc., etc.   I have considered all an experience that has contributed to the work I do.  As well, without a doubt, you can have the greatest work ethic, but if your work for someone who does not share the same work ethic, or value the fact that you are generating money for them as well as yourself, what is it truly worth?  Be kind, be gentle to those that whine and complain and perhaps your shared experience will provide growth for another MT.
She wasnt being harsh, just giving another point of
nm
yeah, after rereading my posts they are kind of harsh.

and I am sorry for being harsh.  I still have my opinion and will stand behind Transcend.  But my apology is to JMO.  He/she was the only civil one, debating more than fighting.  I cannot bring myself to apologize to the other attackers, however, who were just as unruly as myself while hiding their names from the public.

I do agree with the above poster who said we should just let it go.  We all seem to feel strongly in our opinions but we've hashed it out as much as it should/could be.

Sorry again.

If you call being ripped off for more than 5 grand harsh & scary?
grow some guts. Unfortunately, this is profession has become a cut throat business, and if harshness is what it takes to get paid, then so be it. We are all just trying to survive here on the piddling pennies with which we are compensated. This MT is an extremely dedicated, hard-working MT whose business has been destroyed by ***********not paying for services rendered. It's unconscionable. It is not meant to be a threat, but rather a forewarning of what it yet to come.
It may be harsh, but it is true. Too many people come into transcription with false sm
expectations. They expect to get paid to stay home, watch their kids, work when they want, make a fortune after 6 months of correspondence courses.

It takes more than that to be a good MT and a heck of a lot more than that to be a great MT.

With this economy, it would pay to fine-tune skills, work on typing speed, learn new specialties. The best will survive and I intend to stay one of the best.

Not everyone is good at everything.
you seem to have an awful lot to say...
I still think you would be perfect for that particular company. That is my opinion. Sorry you are so awfully frustrated and upset...Maybe a career change? You have a lot of issues...
i think its awful
That a company would accuse an employee of something without 100% evidence/knowledge. Guess the original post was TRUE!
Awful!
I didn't pass either. I got a 78. I could have sworn I answered almost every answer correctly especially since we were able to use reference material. I guess that company does not want to hire that many MTs if their test is so darn difficult to pass!!!!
Awful. sm
Time clock punching that has you working at least 40 hours (even if you're hired for 35) just to get your lines in. Clocking in and out to go to the bathroom, stretch, answer the phone, breathe for fear it'll cut into your line count. Therefore, your MT work stretches out throughout the day, eating up all of your day.

Stupid, pompous, ignorant, incompetent, braggadocious upper management, with a resultant revolving door of MT managers, MTs and QA.

ASR that came with big promises and many MTs complaining of pay decline.

I would not advise anyone hire in with them until things change at the top.
That is awful

You are right, I am not just out of school.  I've been MTing for about 12 years.  I learned from my mom and then just learned on the job after that.  Never had formal training.  Anyway, that is really terrible that the schools would mislead you like that.  Even those of us who have been transcribing for many years are not getting paid close to what we should be, much less the people just out of school.

The best way to make money MTing, in my experience, has been with my own accounts.  I currently have two of my own accounts and in the past i had an entire hospital account, which really made some good money.  Even then, it is tricky finding good accounts because many of the docs don't want to pay what the work is worth.  Best of luck to you.

AWFUL!
I worked there for just over a year and quit 3 months ago. Ever since the SPI takeover, things have gone WAY downhill. Management is awful and they treat their employees horribly. They just don't care about their MTs. Tons of people have quit, including almost all of the management that was there when it was still CyMed. My manager quit a few months before I did, and the work suddenly started disappearing fast. I could no longer even come close to making a decent line count. It also doesn't help that they don't pay for spaces. The new managers put us in the awful new work pools and there was rarely enough work to go around. I would totally avoid this company!
It was awful when I was still there!
After the SPI takeover, my Cymed manager quit, then we had a temporary one, then there was a new so-called permanent one, then she resigned from the company, then we got another temporary one, and then finally another one, who was very rude and horrible with communication! I quit very soon after all of that! I have never been happier since I quit that hell hole! They couldn't even keep an elephant typing for peanuts!
Wow, that is awful!!
I can't imagine not working for and not receiving that much money!  What Steve did was very generous and Proveros should be proud of him.  It's unfortunate that his financial manager gives the company a bad taste in your mouth!
MQ may be awful
but I wish all companies had a policy like this.
Yep, CTS is awful!
If it makes you feel any better, I did get paid after I quit.  I worked for CTS back in the summer and there was always a story as to why my checks were late.  I stayed on through three billing periods thinking it would get better....boy was I wrong.  It just got worse and the checks got later every time.  I finally quit and honestly did not think I would get my last check, but surprisingly I did (two weeks late).  CTS is without a doubt the worst company I have ever worked for and my advise to anyone that might be thinking about accepting an offer......RUN and don't look back.
That's awful. Something needs to be done about
x
That is awful, but 75% of your pay?
You don't have much of a job left.
Awful
My experience was that the accounts that were put on Turboflow were done by their overseas workforce.  If you were lucky, you were able to remain as an editor.  In my case, after a couple of months and without notice, they decided that my account was so easy it no longer needed editing.  Just, we no longer need you to edit this account, goodbye.  I had worked on it for four years.
was awful, but to say that person must....sm

be from India reeks of racism............and THAT is wrong....just plain wrong.  The poster was probably an American MT but you unjustly attacked the post as being from an Indian MT.....

attacking the post was fine, but to probably falsely accuse the poster of being from India definitely reeks of intolerance and racism and that is not a good thing.

just my 2 cents worth.......have a nice weekend.....

Exactly!! Awful company IMO
nm
120 days is awful. Thanks but no thanks. nm

Awful company
Do not work for this company. Very unorganized and extremeley snotty QA manager.
AWFUL company
Please do not consider working for these people. The QA manager was so rude to me when I started. I ended up quitting right on the spot. There are better companies out there. Please DO NOT work for this company.
Awful HR manager
Jim with Zylomed offered me a job and told me he would send me my papers. I waited and waited and no papers. I e-mailed him and called him and he totally ignored me. How unprofessional is that. Company definitely sounds screwed up just like most national companies these days. This career is really making me depressed with so much crap we have to put up with! Any others experiencing this?
AWFUL company!
Beware of this Indian-run company! I worked for them just over a year ago for about a month and ended up quitting. Their account managers and QA are all in India and are, for the most part, very rude to MTs. They are also EXTREMELY hard to understand when they are trying to train you, etc. Even when you get 98% QA scores, they still harass you and tell you that you need to improve in order to get direct submission to the client. One of their tech people even yelled at me one time when I asked for help with the software when I was new. I left them immediately and went to a new company, which I have been with since. There are MUCH, MUCH better companies out there!!!
And how about that awful spellchecker?
More incorrectly spelled words than I have ever seen. Word is by far 100% better.
took the test and it was awful
I took their test and that was one of the worst doctors I've ever had the displeasure of transcribing. Has anyone else taken their test, and if so, was it bad for you, or am I losing it? I have done some pretty bad dictators in my years as a transcriptionist, but he was really ridiculous. I had blanks all over the place, and that is just not like me! I have a very good reputation for being a great MT, and love what I do. This company probably thinks I'm a moron, and wonders if I lied on my resume about my about six years of experience.
Awful company!
Don't even bother applying. Heavy turnover. Not good management at all.
Awful company!
I had horrible experience with this company and will never go back. My account manager was so rude!!!! Waste of time. Money stunk also.
That's awful. Are you sure it was deducted?
nm
Apex is awful
I just quit working for a company that I otherwise loved because of Apex. It does EAT reports. Run away!!
Not good, not bad, but AWFUL!
:(
I don't think it's awful in this day and age, but if you had your own accounts, you'd be ma
around 11-13 cpl, at least we do in my area, but I think 8.5-9 cpl is the going rate working for someone else.
APEX IS AWFUL
Numerous problems each and every day. Constantly calling support.
