It is normal for some people here to react this way. It would probably be beneficial for THEM to get out of the house to remember how civilized people converse.
Dont bother. Not enough work to go around. People are quitting.
I guess at this rate, they may be hiring if everyone ends up quitting due to lack of work. They will come on here and state that we should just call the office and you will get put on another account. That is a joke. We have all tried that and you get ignored.

You were a newbie once too, and I'm sure there were people here ranting on about your quality. Get over yourself!


what is your gripe?
it's fine to share your negative experience however, I have not read anything of value in this link.  What is your gripe?  That the owner is anal?  Well, frankly working this field I would expect most owners to be anal, afterall we are completing very sensitive information.  So this goes back to my original question... what is your gripe?
I don't know what her gripe is with TT.
There is work now TT low work. I don't think they are specifically sending it to me, I am no one special.

but you make a choice. Ignore the e/m's re the acct needs and pretty soon they HAVE to hire more on the acct to keep client happy (and/or client decides to ship the work overseas), OR you can do an extra 100-200 lines here and there in a team effort and help your paycheck, help the company reputation AND keep the client. I don't always pitch in, but usually do, and am happy to work for a company who appreciates us, treats us and pays us well. Suit yourself.

I believe the new gripe is not that work is being
wherever. Its that we, as American MTs, do NOT want to work FOR an Indian owned and operated company. I wouldn't want to work for a French company, other than Chanel, of course. I wouldn't want to work for a German company.  Especially, and this is the main problem, when the foreign company has a mission statement to eliminate its US employees.  I would work for Toyota in the US.  I would work for Volkswagen in the US, as long as their mission statements in their home country did not include statements that they plan on eliminating US workers. There is a big difference, and I think that is what many of you are missing. You think so much upset at MQ and the like is over the offshoring itself.  The new UPSET is that our employees will now be a foreign entity, completely unknown to us, and hostile.  I do not want to work for a HOSTILE employer. Heck, we have enough trouble with working for companies like MQ without their ownership declaring war!
My gripe is about the fact that . . .
QA takes the time to change it.  Once again, if it ain't broke . . .!!!  I think their time could be better spent!

When we get on this board and complain about our line count at SoftScript we get immediately told to go away.  Our lines disappear day by day.  Yet, any post for OSi or MQ seems to stay.  We are people with legitimate gripes too (not to).  Yet, we in turn get told to find a new job while you people continually gripe about your companies stealing from you.  Try getting your lines taken away from you on a retrospective day to day basis and see how you like it.  At least your lines are still there the next days, ours are not.  WE HAVE A RIGHT TO GRIPE TOO.

there so I never had to deal with Amherst when there was no work because I just stopped working and did other things. My feeling is if this doesnt work there are other jobs out there.

You cant always believe what you hear. If they are disgruntled, they will say anything about a place to try to get back.

Well, I know that MTs from my office have quite MQ and they dont post on here but I dont know how
many. I think MTs with MQ may be getting second jobs and just working for 2 different places at the same time which is probably the smart thing to do anymore because MQ will continue with this short TAT and as it spreads throughout other  offices people will continually be running out of work especially after going on DQS.
You obviously have the wrong company. If they dont IM you, then you dont have it on..
I smell management. Nothing you said makes sense unless there is another Focus out there.

if the AAMT meeting had been held in Detroit or Cleveland or some other place that was not as, shall we say, vacation like?

The management of MW (and any other company for that matter) who went to the AAMT meeting did so as a part of their job. Their job is to watch the industry, make contacts and interact with other companies in the industry to try to better our working conditions and further our ability to do our jobs, just as our job is to transcribe and edit reports and learn all we can to improve ourselves and the work we do. Whether you like it or not, there is a separation between MTs and management and a separation between what we do and what they do. Don't like it? You have a couple of options here. You can work on improving yourself and making a name for yourself with your company as a trustworthy and valuable employee and rise to the ranks of management and then have the opportunity to be sent to the AAMT meetings or you can work hard, put some money aside, join AAMT and go on your own.....or you could just continue to sit there and bellyache about it. The choice is yours. The meeting next year is to be held in Queensland on Australia's Gold Coast. Better start saving up now.
TRS - don't bother
I talked with the recruiter in October and he could not explain their pay rate and/or guide that is used.  It is very confusing and they have a very difficult time keeping people.

This company is a nightmare. I live in New Jersey. Constant turnover. Horrible management. They advertise over and over again. That should tell you something about them. They cannot keep somebody for more than a week. Do not even waste your time with this place! You will be sorry!
why bother
Some companies think that just because you have those 3 little letters behind your name you know more than any other MT. This is far from true, it only means those people paid the outrageous price to test and passed the test. I started a part-time job over 2 years ago and the company refused to pay me what I was actually worth because I didnt have CMT behind my name. Even though I have 18+ years' experience as a Transcriptionist and Editor they refused to pay me the 2 dollars more an hour that the CMTs were getting. So I did the same work and somebody with less experience but with the CMT got more money than me. Needless to say I have since left that company.
Why do they bother?
I was contacted by a company to work for them.  I told them exactly the days I could work and how much I was willing to work.  When they sent work for the weekend, I explained to them that I do not work weekends.  Well, I did not hear from them again.  Tried contacting them Monday.  Tried sign on Monday and was locked out.  Did not get a email until Tuesday afternoon stating my quality was just not good enough.  I've been at this for 15 years!

schedule but there's never enough work to do that.  It's the same one account and it's still APEX.  Same crappy dictators.  The disorganization in the office is getting worse every day.  As far as QA it depends on what QA person you happen to get.  Difference is night and day.  If I was already out and had the choice to make I'd never look back.  I'm probably leaving after the new year so you can always have my place

Run... why bother to beg?
Oh my gosh, please just apply to a company that will appreciate you and stop coming across as a beggar...  Please save us the dignity...  There are soooo many companies to choose from.  Why would you want a job with a place that never even returns a phone call???????  Tell me why???????????  I've been doing this for over 20 years, and I hope to never be in your position with all of that experience on this board begging to work for a particular company.... Why are you doing that?  How sad!

If you like spending $100 for equipment for a job that you don't know will work out, spending all day at your computer waiting for work that may or may not be there, trying to type 20+ files in 2 hours because all the dictation was loaded at the same time, having your line rate cut to help support the MTSO's lifestyle, then this job may be for you.

Not the business for me? Sounds like its not the business for the poster or you either. I have been in this business I am quite sure longer than you have and I still make very good money. I guess that could be because I am not worrying about what the MTSOs charge and I just sit and do my work and make my money.

I agree, don't bother...

The pay is low. It's based on multiple factors including QA, lines per hour and how much of your work you send to QA. I actually didn't mind the low pay because (at the time) the staff was very friendly. It's when they started the training in Trinidad that my warm feelings for this company started to sour. My feelings for them completely soured when they announced that they would be training people in Guiana as well. I don't approve of the offshoring of medical records (and American jobs) to other countries, however, the fact that they put a humanitarian spin on it is what really did it for me and I left just a few months ago after being there for about a year.

It even freaks some of them out, especially in light of electronic identity theft and no way to enforce U.S. law of confidential records in other countries. Some woman in Pakistan actually threatened a hospital in California with putting patient records on the internet! Claims that software is made so it cannot be saved on the computer are bull: It can be copied and pasted or even written down by the MT and passed on. Here it's a felony and we're accountable. Not there. It does scare people when you tell them that. And it should. I just don't think many people are aware, realize the ramifications of it, or know what to do about it.

They all will be. Do they even bother recruiting in US

Now i never had the tech issues but i was IMed to death and just flat out got annoyed.  Didn't get my last check either even long after returning their foot pedal.  That is one company that definitely does not have it together

Seems to be that only negative posts are allowed on this thread!  If I wanted my name recognized by MDI, I would have posted it, but that's not what I'm here for.  I've often thought about posting before, but never have because I knew this is what I would get for it, but that's okay...I'm still happy at MDI!
