The best place I have worked
    nm
Yep! Every place I ever worked for except

for the place I'm working for now.  My very first job right out of school was for a woman who owned her own company, and she had a son and a niece working for her.  The niece did more than her fair share, and in fact we became good friends after our dogs started having play dates together on our days off.  Her son, on the other hand, did all the easy psych work with all the templates and then went on to steal the ER work (also only docs with templates), and surpise... he always had the highest line counts of anyone.  Those were the days also when we got paid for headers and footers, patient info, everything, so he was making out like a bandit.

Also worked for MQ in-house when they had an office here close to my home.  Some people sat there and typed the hardest account we had all day, every day and barely made their minimum lines, and there was this one person who would type nothing but ER notes that had very long templates and ended up being an average of 3 pages each.  Then she had the nerve to brag about how big her checks were with all her bonuses and incentive.  I got a chance to type those two days in a row and I made 1400 lines a day more than I usually did on my main account.

I say share the fortune, be it good or bad.  The sooner we all get the bad work out, the sooner we can all get to the good work and start making money.  I also had one supervisor tell me that I do the harder work because I make more cpl, but hey, if you are sitting there typing easy stuff all day and using templates, you are making more money in the long run.

Because TT is not the only place I worked before, even
the hospital I worked for experienced lots of low work around the holidays.
I have worked now for the same place
for years and years and like you, when we had close to 50 inhouse MTs we never ran out of work, never and now it seems to be at least once a month type situation. I really do not feel like ours is sent overseas and the reason I said this is when inhouse some tried to be sent and the physicians were really upset and brought back then to Americans MTs. I can now afford to take off a day or 2 here and there but years ago I HAD to work, at least 2 jobs then to make a living and like I said (and you might know) the money then was very good. I now think about my other coworkers possibly being in the same financial situation as I was once and if we are low/run out I will just tell my company I will take off that day. Now that is not saying I want to do every day or week but to let others who might need it really bad I can do that. I have no idea what the answer is to this because it seems to be wide spread. We ran out this past week and now on this wkend all kinds of work to do if we want - but with all the ESLs gosh I just do not want to put up with them when I don’t have to (today is off day for me).
I'm with you - best place I've ever worked. sm
I can't believe anyone is running out of work within the company (except for this week of lower account volumes). Goes to show that there are at least two sides to every story!
They are the least micromanaging place I have ever worked for.
    nm
I'd go with Keystrokes. The best place I have EVER worked for!!
    x
Worst place I ever worked. Much of the same
info in the archives.  There is a reason they are constantly hiring and new accounts isn't one of them.
That happened to me at the first place I worked in house. -sm
I had to call them after a month of waiting for my last paycheck. They said they were waiting for me to come down and get it. Can you believe that? They finally put it in the mail.
I worked for a place that had antiquated software before, so (sm)
ExText seems great to me, and no I am not management.
I once worked in place where we were treated like dirt - sm
365 days a year, INCLUDING during MT week. Yeh, they gave us trinkets or sometimes a pizza party, but still jumped on our @$$es as soon as the party was over, about how far behind we'd fallen on our work. I'd rather get NO trinkets, NO week, and no public recognition, and simply a decent living wage and a little professionaal respect.
CBay is the worst place i EVER worked.
Liars and thieves. I do not like to be lied to and they did, all the time.
I have worked for them for three years - great place.
Excellent pay and benefits. PTO is better than most companies. They match our 401-K. I like my account and my TL.

Feel free to e-mail me for more information.
Never worked for that place, but sounds like old MTSO
    xx
Very good place to work. When I worked there
I was paid $0.10 Canadian per line with spaces.  That was before the US dollar went below the Canadian dollar.  I think they hire mostly US MT's as there aren't enough in Canada.  I think you can also get employee status there.  Great bunch of people.  I would highly recommend them.
Not Intermountain, but one place I worked for years ago sm
had a gimmick where if there were a blank or two in a report, a comma somewhere where where they did not think it belonged, a sentence transcribed in a tense they did not like, they called it a junk chart and would not pay the MT for the report. With that along with constant and nasty mails they regularly had mass exoduses.. It's the only time in 17 years in this field that I finally had a belly full one day and just up and quit with no notice, no anything, just quit.
Worst place I've ever worked. I hear a lot about

a better than average pay, but no one ever says what it is.  If you do QA they need to pay hourly.  When I was QA I was better off retyping the reports.

They use Start/Start and require you to purchase it.  When I worked there they got a $20 discount if you told the company you worked for SoftScript, not sure if still that way.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, but I do still have my foot pedal and software if you're interested.

    Annie ?
Do you mind if I ask who you work for? I have been looking for an IC job with a higher turnaround time as I the company I have been with recently changed to no ICs and with a set schedule. Email me if you want. Thanks much. :)
    Thank you, Annie...yes
I have just spent over 3 weeks researching jobs and applying for dozens of places but there is not a lot out there. What is out there is mostly 7 to 8 cents/line, and then all at my own expense; my own computer, my own software, etc. I am seeing a lot of 'hiring freeze' messages at smaller companies, and the larger ones only seem to want slave labor, at least for new employees. I actually really like the company I am at now and think they are in the top tier but I just cannot get anywhere with them anymore. They have me in check no matter what I do...

I agree about the CMT being a waste of money, that is why in almost 20 years I have never bothered with it - never found the need really to justify the expense...
    MDI - To Annie
I don't think it is rose-colored glasses - work is slow EVERYWHERE in this industry - just read through the other posts. MDI is probably the most flexible place I've ever been - no schedule, just make a line count commitment and do it (right now, that is difficult, but it's feast or famine in this biz).... I took on a part time job that lasted 1 day because of the amount of sending, resending and transmitting involved....it just was not worth the line rate, but at least I realized it right from the get go and didn't stay on to make the company or myself crazy....I am on a different part time job now that is going to be great once I get my glossary up and running. And at MDI, what could be easier to use than Bayscribe? Although I'm not thrilled with the low workload, I am sure that with my part time job, which is a very busy one, I'll stay afloat until things pick up at MDI again. You can't be in the biz for 25+ years like Dorothy has and not know what you're doing...too much outsourcing has become rampant in this industry also by other companies. Then, those Indian companies have the audacity to post ads (and I saw one on an MT job site) for editors to QA them to make the work right! Talk about running around in circles...Sorry for the long post - once my fingers get flying, it's hard to top them.
Have to punch a clock at Webmedx too. I even worked briefly for a place sm

that had a little popup window come up when you had been gone too long and you had to fill in the reason why you were gone.  A little bit too Big Brother for me.

If a company does not make overtime mandatory, and I simply want to make some extra money and get some more lines in, I ought to be able to do so without the company being forced to pay me time and a half.  Sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot demanding this and demanding that, and soon we end up with less than we had before ....but that is just my opinion.

    Attention Annie
    .
    I agree with Annie ...
Neither of these two companies are strong winners. Lots of negatives posted in the archives.
I love it there...best place I have worked...plenty of work, pay on time, excellent communication...
wonderful supervisors...who could ask for more?
Not me. I hope there is a special place reserved for them in a very hot place.

I worked for a temp agency for 3 years..LOVED it. Just worked. No counts, no hassels, GREAT pay..
No benefits at the time.  I even learned pathology while temping (8 months on that assigment).  I loved the variety, the ability to say I'm not available such and such time.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I didn't need benefits.
A company is ONLY supposed to verify that someone worked there, what dates they worked, whether PT o
and last date worked. It opens everyone up to a lawsuit if more is given, so most companies are told by their attorneys and business advisors to verify only.

No one has a right to a reference, only verification of employment.
It worked! Latest suggestion from DJ's email worked. nm

If I worked a longer day, I just put my regular shift, 3p-11p, or whatever. If I worked sm
an extra day, then I was told to fudge the hours around on the other days so it all came out to 40.  I didn't really mind -- have learned not to expect overtime in this profession -- and I was happy to be able to work whenever I needed to get the lines I needed.  However, them telling me directly to fudge on my time sheet would seem to be a violation of the wage and hour laws.  I suppose it doesn't matter now if they do not even have enough work to make the minimum line count necessary.  Several of the companies I thought were golden seem to have gotten a bit tarnished lately … sad.
Glad it worked for you. I have worked for companies
that were more reliable and paid without the delay I had. Maybe you started before they started doing that but it makes no difference. I TOO am a single parent.

You are not trying to argue? Sounds like you not only are trying to argue but you are just waiting for anyone to post anything about the co on here so you can just get out there and respond, which seems to be the way I have always noticed it. It's like all the MTs or whoever that work there are just waiting to respond.

This board is about the good points and bad points about companies. I am telling my experience.

The people were nice people though, but my experience was not a good one and I will not say it was.

I can go a week after the end of payday and even 10days later but that's it. Kids would starve.
No - one place is the same as the next.
    nm
Don't use yours all in one place!!!!!
    SPREAD the joy!!
    Me neither. Bad place IMO
    nm
I think so, from the second place.
    x
    Bad Place!!
If you like to get paid for your work, then I would suggest not working for her!! She still owes me quite a bit of money, the pay is ALWAYS late and not always correct. She is also extremely moody and will take everything out on you if she's having a bad day. She says that her VR is really good, but I couldn't make much with it, and usually ended up typing the reports over for 6 cents/line.
Don't know why they ask in the first place if they
aren't going to take into the consideration what people have to say.  There have been a few others that did the same thing and came back here to post how sorry they were they didn't listen to the negative posts.
This place is not for you then.
to have you and your strive for excellence attitude.  Try another company right now so that you don't lose your touch.  Best wishes...
If MQ MTs are looking to that place, .
    zz
    Run from this place!

If you have what a place is looking for, it should take
    s
There is a place for everyone, though you are still
in the honeymoon phase.  If you're happy I'm happy for you.
Is it possible to try a third place?
Third might be a charm. No matter what you choose, trust your heart. Good luck!
Why would someone place an ad SM
and use an address like that?  You have to wonder.  Same goes for people who use completely unprofessional emails to communicate with companies about jobs, mommy2joey, lovinmama, all that stuff.  It's ridiculous.
    My place
I just had an email tonight asking about where I worked because of another posting here and like I told them, was chatting on here with a lady, told her where I worked and about a month later she applied there, got hired, received the foot pedal and then nothing. She asked me to talk to this person (we both knew her) and when I did, my company got in a twit, saying they could do their own hiring??? and all I did was to ask them about getting back in touch with MS X as she was waiting to go to work. That was probably about a year ago and I never did that again. I feel almost 100% your low count is exclusively because of Chartscript. I have always since the 80s done straight at least 2000 or better a day whatever system I was on UNTIL in 2000 and something started and dropped like a leaded balloon. I gave up a job that was not hard work at all, but was not going to work for less lines than I knew I could do. Immediately went back up in next job.
    Re: Your place
I would not want you to get into trouble w/ telling me anything about where you work. However, you have given me encouragement that looking for a position at another place that does not use Chartscript is a good idea. I have been questioning whether learning a new platform would be worth it or would I still be in the same situation. However, now I'm excited to think my line count could double or more!! Thanks for the info and encouragement!
I think this is the right place, but I don't know if I can help you.
Maybe try testing on their sites. I only ever got an interview after testing for the companies, not just forwarding my resume.

Good luck and sorry not much help.
Still there but looking. This is not a place
to hang out if you want to be happy and productive. It is pretty political and either you are in tight with your boss or you get the worst of the worst. The favorites get the best dictators, work, accounts, and the rest of us are the swabbing crew. I cannot live on what I make here a day. And the Beyondtxt program really sucks.
where is this place at and who is the sm
supervisor. We use to have a Med Trans wehre I live and they moved. If it is the same company, forget it.
I think we were at the same place.
I think we may have been hired even for the same account, which vanished...at first fed 'hang in there', then excuses, and finally they just quit mentioning it entirely. The alternate I got (which of course wasn't what I really was looking for days-wise or hour-wise) is similarly dwindling so that I'm chasing reports and it's a rare day that I can actually make my line count, even flexing to the wee hours. Fortunately, I'm getting better at reading between the lines, so I'm not going down with the ship like I have in the past.
From what I see, VR will never take the place
of MTs. I work on Escription and really love it but really according to the report, some might not have very many, others could have more. However, having said that I have stated before and will state again, do not like to type straight anymore and, and- we have so many ESLs now that our platform is really good about getting theirs so my head does not ache so much in trying to figure out most. If no errors on VR, then where would we be? I am not complaining at all.
I could tell you more about that place
I know a woman who walked out when she got emails, 2 of the managers emailing back and forth and accidentally sent to this woman, and talking bad about her. Can we say oops!
