MTSOs seeking MTs for Sun-Thurs or Tues-Sat positions..sm
This question is for anyone who has ever been hired by an MTSO who advertised the Sun-Thur or Tues-Sat only schedules.  Can you tell me which companies (if any) that are willing to be a bit more flexible in this area?  I don't mind weekend coverage at all and actually prefer a day off through the week.  However, I don't think I could adhere to a schedule where I had to sacrifice every Saturday or every Sunday for an indefinite period of time.  I would be happy to work every other weekend or alternate Saturdays and Sundays, basically working one weekend day a week.  Or are most of the companies that advertise require their MTs to stick to one set schedule, no exceptions?  Thanks to anyone willing to take the time to respond! Your replies are appreciated!!
Axoloti--one more sched question...sm
There was a discussion earlier about the lack of schedule flexibility.  Being an MQ'er, I am pretty much used to it, and it works well for me.  But I have to e-mail the supervisor if I go over my shift to finish a report--even 1 minute.  MQ wants to avoid paying overtime.  Is Axoloti this strict, or is there at least a little leeway to finish a report at the end of your shift?  Thank you for any info.
no schedule or loose sched. sm
Try ProScript, if they're hiring.  PT I think is automatically IC, no bennies, but no hassles either.
If IC lets co. use her as employee, setting sched,

Don't know the name, but that would be 1 day out of 5, so a Sun.-Thurs. schedule
s
I work Sun-Thurs and prefer it. sm
My activities are usually on Friday and Saturday and this schedule works out great for me. What if you rotated weekends and just happened to have plans on the weekend you were scheduled to work and then nobody would trade with you? That would suck. This way I'm always off or if there is work available, I will work especially in winter. Would also prefer to work Thanksgiving and Christmas and have the summer holidays off. But that's just me.
How many MTs were in on the 11:00 a.m. call Thurs morning and what
did you think of the answers? I think that CB did not have any specifics and should have had them from Transcend before holding that call. Come Jan 1, if any of us are still with MDI, I suspect her answers will turn out to be very inaccurate or totally forgotten. My email questions have not been answered at all and I do not look for any real soon. I am looking for a new MTSO while I still have a few months before the sky falls, and believe me it will! Been through this before with MQ and never, ever thought I would see this again with a company like MDI! So much for Patriot Dorothy! When I asked for an excuse to get out of jury duty because I could not afford the days off work, I was told that Dorothy was too patriotic to allow that and I would have to serve. My, my how things change!!!
Sent in my resume on Thurs, did their test over the weekend

I know it takes a while.  I'm just itching for a change.

also Tues-Sat shifts-nm
xx
I work Tues-Sat
and it is NOT a big deal; in my previous job, for many, many years I was head of the billing department AND the sole MT for the practice, so working 7 days a week is nothing new. With my present job, I was actually given a few choices, and I chose first shift Tues-Sat. I do have a 1 Saturday a month prior commitment--so they allow me to work around that, either by front-loading my week ahead of time so I get in my hours (and lines), or working a couple of hours before going to my other thing, and then finishing up when I get back. It has worked out very well. This company also offers a pay bump if your schedule has you working both Saturday and Sunday, which I chose not to do.

And in order to get in a few extra lines here and there, I usually log on for at least an hour or so on my days off, if there is work (and there almost always is), because after so many years, if I get up in the morning and don't have work to do, I don't know what to do with myself. :)

And I too am glad to have a job in this tough economy. There will always be sick patients, and there will always be doctors who dictate about them. The company I work for is actually expanding; I wonder if some of the work is finally trickling back onshore from overseas....?
My experience exact opposite- Me willing work 6 days, regular sched, 100% QA last review- Company: N
Me: Ready, willing and able to work 6 days a week, regular schedule, 100% QA my last review, on all ESL's doctors.

Companies: No work. All ESL work. All the worst dictators. No work, did I mention that. Don't want to buy new software or any software to help the MT. Ridiculous formatting rules to decrease my line count. Low line count rate. No holiday pay. Have to work holidays.

Your post was way, way out of line. Maybe you work for a great company, SO tell us who it is.

I've tried 10 companies in 10 years, and they were all the same. Pick my brain and make me work hard, hard, hard for ? 150 lines an hour with ALL ESL, poor sound quality, and then don't really want to pay for the 150 lines, want to jiggle and wiggle it down to 120 or less with rules.
I work Sun-Thurs and Georgie needs social skills

I changed from Tues-Sat 1st shift to Sun-Thurs 3rd shift because I start Sunday evening and I am done with my shift on Fridays at 7:00 a.m.  I have all day Saturday and Sunday to spend with my family.

Georgie, you are just a NASTY person.  There is no reason to be so rude and condescending to others.  I think you need to take some classes on social skills or get some counseling because you seem to be a pretty MISERABLE person.

Count on heavy Mon and Tues and then
computer up to 14 hours or so a day to wait for work to drop in to get your line count, or you can just work 365 days/yr. They will tell you to work outside your schedule if there is not work and expect you to have a consistent daily line count.
I was thinking maybe Tues, since I have a feeling
X
I agree...I work Tues-Sat and I have a life...
maybe the OP isn't that good at balancing hers that's all...I don't miss any of my childrens' activities and I also do not miss deadlines either...
Mine listed Thurs. and Fri. as official company "holiday" but then said we have to work Fri un
nm
Amen! Yeah, work was low Tues morning,
but I said THANK GOODNESS so I could take a break. Came back later and there was plenty.

It's not like gasoline where a supply can be kept for the low times. No; any transcription company has to try to stay within TAT or they lose money. When they lose money, do they penalize the MTs? Nope; they eat it.

I firmly believe that the good companies want to hire good people and keep them, but also get good accounts and keep them, so they have to delicately manage things the best they can. They have to let people take vacations now and then, and they can't predict when people will be sick or have emergencies. If you've ever worked in a hospital medical records department, you know that some of the docs are notorious for waiting until they are threatened with loss of privileges before they catch up their backlogs. So then they go in and dictate 200 reports they shoud have been doing for the last 2 months. Get a few of those and then there's a real crisis. Everybody gets a notice to work - work - work. Finally 2 weeks later everybody has worked their tushes off and done all this extra work, and everything is caught up on Monday morning. Then the docs come straggling in to do their dictations on Monday, while MTs sit at their desks, fuming because their is no work. Well whose fault is that? Management's? Nope, that's just business. I doubt there is a business in this world that is the same day in and day out, 7 days a week, every week of the year.
I'm part-time and don't have to work all weekend. I work Tues-Sat.
I've never heard that from Chronicle, of course I didn't see the ad.
I prefer to be off a day during the week so I prefer a Tues-Sat schedule. nm

just got offered a job

Does anyone work or have any info on Wordzxpressed?  I have been offered a job and want some feedback.  I have been in an office job since Nov and want to go back to at home transcription but don't want to get burned!!!!

Thanks

Same here right now, because OT is offered

PLUS it is the end of the pay period when all the end-of-pay-period MT's decide to get on and take away all the work -- they have been resting for 2 weeks and can work all day and night and get their lines in. YUK !

I was just offered a job...
Pay rate is starting at 8 cpl for an IC.  After 90 days you get 8.5 if you have good quality.  They use "Winspread"  (not sure of the spelling).  Have been in business for 3 years.  Have direct deposit.
They offered me 8.5 cpl.
nm
Don't know about the others, but I was offered

a position.  I have 20 years' experience in acute care, very good at ESLs.  They offered me 8 cpl with the potential to make big bonuses - but that means I'll have to work extra and it just isn't worth it to me and there is no guarantee anyway.

When I asked if they offshored the HR person was hesitant but said they do if the client requests it.

The person I talked with a Cymed was evidently just HR and didn't even know what I was talking about most of the time when I asked questions about platform, line counting, etc.

I was offered a job with them...sm
but did not accept it. It seemed like their pay per lines were a little low.  Plus, after extensive conversations with them, I felt that they had REALLY high expectations for the pay that was being offered. Unsure though because I never accepted the job after it was offered.  Hope you find out the answers that you are looking for.
When I get offered anything less than..
9 cents, I tell them right out that is low and ask if they can do better. Sometimes it works!
I just got offered 6 cpl as an IC with my
10 years of experience. That was just laughable!
Don't know much about them except what they offered me
They offered me 0.085 and then up to 0.09 once off 100% QA.
Not so. I was offered a job with them not
long age. They supply all equipment and if you have an additional phone line, they will reimburse you for that.
what do you mean - should be offered?
It is offered and available dependent upon what option you choose employee versus statutory versus IC. Do not run out of work - pay is on time/direct deposit and they communicate with you - what else do you want?
Just offered 8.5 cpl (sm)
They have very good benefits, and good bonuses for O.T. and when work is out of TAT.  Is this an average rate?  I know a lot of you ICs make a lot more, but what about with the benefits and bonuses.  Is it bad? They have a good platform - ExText, and the company I am at has horrible, user hostile software.  help, please
I would take something else if offered

It wasn't for me - good training grounds maybe - hard to make decent money - at least IMHO

In looking at ads, 3.5 to 4 cpl seems to be what's offered most. nm
s
Then what happens is you are offered
a job by that outsourcing company because you know the account, but most likely as an IC with no benefits for a year, etc., etc.  So there are hospital jobs few and far between that will stay in-house.  Eventually they all want to save a buck.
I was offered 7 cpl

I believe you. I was offered 7 cpl by Transcription Relief Services for over 20 years experience.

Just offered a job
with TransHealth and was told that insurance starts on the first of the month after 60 days of employment.
...is what's offered. nm
s
Offered
Yes - the original post offered only 7cpl. The accounts we inherited are paying only 8cpl. That 1 cent margin barely pays our very limited overhead. As we bring in new accounts we are quoting more realistic rates and paying our MTs accordingly.

We have some great MTs on our team - all with us because they know we'll always treat them like people, and not like a number.

We're open with them about where we stand, and they appreciate us not giving them a load of %$#% and promises, but the real bottom lines.

I also just got offered at job at 8 cpl
They told me that after 90 days you get a review and increase in your pay depending on how you do.
I was offered 9.5 cpl and they also
seem to offer a lot of incentives - almost every weekend - 1 cpl - no minimum required. That doesn't sound bad to me considering what MQ pays me after 10 years of service - a whopping 7.75 cpl and only 70% of that for ASR.
i was offered
recently too. does anyone on here have anything good to say about them?
TTS offered me 6.5 cpl
NM
6 cpl was never offered to anyone!
I don't have a clue where that came from!!!!
Yes, it was offered to me. I can even tell you the
Your name wasn't on the email, so I wouldn't expect you to know. Her name started with a J.

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.
I was offered a job with them
in November and told I would be contacted about training. I did not hear from them until early January and training was scheduled for the end of January. I had to move on, I can't wait indefinately to make money to pay my bills or feed my family. Just my experience with the Focus training wait time. Have they told you yet that you will have a 700 or so minute long distance bill with them during that training? Just wait, eventually they will. I was afraid those long distance minutes would be minutes to India, which would be too expensive for me.
They pay me better than anyone else has ever offered.

When I was checking around for jobs, no one wanted to pay more than 8.5 for standard typing and 4 cpl for editing. I get paid way better than that. So, maybe I have missed something.

I was offered the same 7.5 cpl with s/m
4 years of Acute Care and OP experience, after telling them my line count averaged out to 190 lph with heavy ESLs. I also made a 98% on their online test, so I don't think experience counts much with them.  They did tell me that after I got off QA they would give me the .09 that I am making now, but wouldn't put in the offer letter in writing, so I told them to take a hike.  I think they are a big scam.
I even offered...
...to take up a collection amongst the MTs to get him a tube of Petromalt (feline hairball remedy that makes it easier for the kitty to hack it on up). While my manager found the suggestion extremely humorous, she didn't think the dictator would see the humor in it.

:-)
once again OT offered
totally with you on this.  I have not had a full pay since last year.  account specifics always changing and definitely overhiring.  I was switched to another account because of low work only to find out it was another overflow account.  No one watches the OT. its all about how to make them look good and get everything in TAT. someone needs to watch the TAT and once it there, cut off the OT.
did what you did... got offered
highest at 7.5 with MD-IT. Turned them down.
Offered a job at KS...

...and now after reading some of the posts, I'm afraid to accept it.   I can't afford to run out of work.
