plenty of posts from this year.sm

Posted By: anon on 2007-11-30
In Reply to: Thanks. In the older posts, it looks like people were running out of work a lot...SM - Just curious

yes, run out of work sometimes, but mostly have more than enough. Very flexible. Pay always on time. MTs treated just fine.

old posts from last year...
are not to pleasing, though. Can anyone verify the pay, management, etc?
Might have to use THEIR puter, 1200 lpd. Posts from last year say pay is very low. nm
s
See the string of posts below. Been there almost a year and really love it.
They are hiring like crazy now because they have several new accounts coming on, so I would go ahead and apply. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I can only find negative posts about them from last year. nm

I read some posts a year or so back (sm)
that it was a husband/wife operation - that the wife was super nice and very easy to work for - no comment positive or negative on the husband that I can recall - that they usually always got paid on time but there was that little bit about being paid when client paid - which is a little scary - I'm of the firm belief that a company - large or small - should have enough cash flow to pay their people - that is running a little too close to the edge for me - but if it is a good company and great platform, good docs - I might try them someday.
Heck, no, lol. Didja read my posts. Taken 2 year to
how I actually DO my work.  Just cause this is my fit doesnt mean it would fit you.  Jobs are not one size fits all.  And anyway, personally I think there are already too many on this acct.  But then, dont all of us feel that way about our accts, lol.
Posts from last year don't shed a positive light on them, no matter where
s
Have they changed their awful platform? Posts from last year said it was terrible! nm

I remember some posts at the beginning of the year from a lady who didn't get paid - she was stea

my first year I made 16k. Doubled that second year. Going on year 6 with (sm)

two local accounts I earned 23,000.00 and a national I earned 35,400... 58,400 this year.  Don't ask me how many hours, though, I really have no idea.  I'm pretty motivated.  (When people ask me how many hours I work a week I reply as many as it takes  I'd say 40-50/week.  I am also a fitness instructer and personal trainer, about 5 hours a week or so.  Decent money (sometimes under the table!) but mostly I just do it for fun and to be social and wear cute work-out clothes.

that first year was a rough one... but I consider it part of my education.

I'm pretty motivated.

Last year, there was a letter sent that told us what we earned the previous year. sm
In the past, it has been all or nothing; if you did not hit the lines for full time for the year, you did not get PTO. I talked to my lead this morning about a last-minute vacation and she told me that the yearly packets are going out in a week or so and that the new policy will acrue PTO by the pay period or month. I like that a lot better, but she also made it sound like they are upping the amount of lines needed to acrue PTO. I normally get between 15 and 20,000 lines per pay period, so I am sure that will be fine but I am worried about the periods that have lower volumes, like most of January every year.
Posts from April said everyone gets 8.5 cpl/newbie or experienced. Recent posts said

Webmedx lets you carry them from year to year sm
You can accrue up to 140 hours (I think) before you stop the accrual process. Don't have to use it all in one year.
I would stick it out, most places are slow now through the end of the year every year (nm)

A few posts about them about 3/4 of the way down this page between the DSG & Diskriter posts. nm

Last year $36K part time, going to make more this year full time BUT sm

I AGREE it IS getting harder to make money.  I used to make $24 very part time 10 years ago and now...well it is Word and platforms versus WP5.1.  I got 7.5 cents a byte line then and I get 9.5 cents a character line now.  That IS a huge different in point of fact.

OH I WANT MY WORDPERFECT 5.1 BACK!!!!! Bwaaah!

They had MTs - plenty of them
The problem was - trying to keep them.  As above, checks constantly bounced.  At payday time - all the managers would disappear, as would the owners.  When this happens every other payperiod  - I think the company has financial issues.  This is not to mention,  he was outsourcing this account, about 60% of the work, half of this was sent through to the hospital as he did not want to pay editors to edit the crap.  Again, several issues.  They make everything sound great - but once you start, reality sets in and quick.
I have plenty and then some
Hello

I have plenty with them. I work on a radiology acount though so it is not quite the same. I have a secondary acute care account, but never seem to get around to typing on it as I have so much to do on the radiology one. Most of the time the updates I get for the accounts I see fluctuate but mostly have work. I know each account is different. Etranplus has its bad points like any other company. I have certain things I do not like. I have also had way worse experiences. I have found it to be a good fit for me for 15 months now and finally got to do my first love of radiology. I wish you the best. If you need to get a secondary account and then you can decide to keep two or leave one or the other when things stabilize for you. Good luck!
There are plenty....
...but they may require that you know how to spell the word 'editing' correctly.
yes plenty what ya need
one part timer
Same here, plenty now.
Did my time card while waiting for the work to come in. Now I am buried. Feast or famine.
I'm doing ME and there seems to be plenty.
Fairly new and not sure how the MT or QA side of things might be.
you seem to have plenty
of time to post, must be due to all the cash you have socked away.
Plenty

I have plenty.

Plenty here too
A bit slow a few weeks ago, but not too bad, didn't effect my pay, just adjusted my schedule a little bit. Now have more than enough work. If you have no work for months at a time, why would you stay?
Plenty of work

OSI has plenty of work to go around...
...but since hurricane katrina hit, things have been kind of slow. I think they have a big account in Louisiana that got hit pretty hard and it shut down. Since then they have had to move MTs from that account to other accounts. I've been running a little low on work too (just every now and then), but I like OSi so I'm willing to stick it out. I'm sure everything will get back up to speed soon.
If you have plenty of experience and don't need...
any help, they are fine.  They don't have any QA.  You are pretty much on your own.  Do your work on time, and do it well, and you'll be okay.
Yep, I have plenty of backups, too. nm

Plenty of work...sm
I don't generally post on companies I worked for because in the long run it doesn't seem like opinions matter, for some it may suck and for others it is great.  I worked for them for a couple of years and had to leave due to needing insurance.  There was always plenty of work and if you are a hard worker, you'll make money, get paid on time, etc.  The accounts were incredibly stable and extremely easy compared to acute care.
P.S.. you have plenty of work?

Plenty of work at MDI

Hi Freebird,  I was just passing through and saw your note.

I have been with MDI-MD for a little over a year now.  The only slowdown I have ever experienced was around Christmas and New Year's.  Right now there is plenty of work on all of the hospitals that I cover.

I have been in this business for a long time, am a former MQer, and I just love this company.  The work is not for newbie's, but if you are an experienced acute care Transcriptionist you will have no problems.  The staff at MDI-MD are professional and gracious, the platform is the best I have ever worked with, the pay is great and always on time, and the flexibility is wonderful. I wish you luck!

I do all Ops and there is plenty work available for anyone who wants just
Ops and is good at them.
There are plenty of jobs out there.
.
I have plenty of work.
Have you tried asking for another account?
Plenty of work

Good line rate with incentive pay and shift differential.  Good benefits.  Sick time, PTO, plenty of work.  I'm happy.  Normals are right in their platform, which is handy and helps production.

Anyone else care to chime in?

I have plenty of work

I have plenty of work at both places I work, just would like more money. :-)

there's plenty of work to go around....
TRS does manage a group in Guyana, but they make up a TINY portion of the total reports. NO jobs have been lost in the US to employees in other countries either. There is plenty of work available and the recruiter works constantly to find qualified MT's here in the US! Why is going offshore a bad thing if it doesn't affect the workload or TRS employees in the US??
Is there plenty of work. nm

Yes, there are still plenty of jobs. sm
But it's not that simple. In the employment market today, people look to keep increasing their income. We have to. My utilities have tripled over the last 10 years. By contrast, my income has gone from $42K yearly to $24K. Now, I'm not conceited enough to think I'm worth $42K part time; I told my manager they were paying too much, but he wouldn't listen and we lost our hospital department.

One of the biggest reasons for this decrease in pay is offshoring. The average MT works for about 8 cents per line. I made 6 cents 15 years ago. But they have cut so many items out of the counting software that we are having to work harder all the time just to keep the same wage.

Send it offshore for 2 cents a line, get someone to edit it for 4 cents a line, and that is just 6 cents a line, what I made 15 years ago. I can't work for that now. I made 1600 lines in 6 hours then. Platforms are so much more complicated and all extras have been cut; I can just make 1200 in the same time now.

I read an article a while back that followed an Indian MT. She made about $550 a month, that was a year's wages there. My utilities (without cable or any extras) run $600 a month.

We are cutting our own throats by making offshoring work. Many of us will not edit offshore. It is against our beliefs. It is also damaging the future of our profession.

And don't tell me that offshore works in other areas. If my clothes fall apart, I replace them. If my medical care falls apart, they'll have to replace me!
See page 2 hun plenty there
baboing!
Plenty of work
No, there is plenty of work. But it looks as though workflow is caught up and under good control.  There is no mandatory OT, it is just optional now.
Plenty of work here.
If my primary is out, I have plenty of secondary accounts. They are always looking for people who are willing to have multiple secondaries. It's been my experience that the more accounts you know how to do, the less you run out of work. That's why I don't mind learning new accounts or work types.
Which of these have plenty of work RIGHT NOW?
Email me if you prefer.
