once you start with MDI, you give a 'schedule' 2 months in advance, that is, what number of lines you expect to produce on a given day. The suggestion is just to be realistic, and project under rather than over your committed lines. Most accts would not mind you doing some more, but if people go way under their projected lines, then the backlog builds and turn-around times are out of whack.
