people who let their cats roam free. Are they pets or are they roaming wildlife? I understand that cats like to be outdoors and are not easy to contain, but that doesn't mean they should be roaming all over the neighborhood, crossing streets, scaring drivers, hunting at feeders, depositing their feces in gardens, attacking indoor cats looking out the window and ripping the screen out in the process ...

Protect your cats and your neighbor's property by keeping them on your own property. I make every attempt to contain my dogs or go after them if they escape because I know people don't appreciate dogs running free either.

And if you assume dogs are more dangerous than cats, it's true I have been threatened by strange dogs, but the only strange animal to ever sink its teeth and claws into me was a cat, who came onto my property and demanded petting. Trying to end the petting session resulted in a cat wrapping itself around my leg, claws and teeth firmly embedded. Yow.

I later told the owner, who lived right across the street, and she informed me she did allow her cat out, but he never left her front steps. ?? Um, shall we match up the teeth marks?
