I don't get it, either. If nothing else, I think it's - sm

so RUDE to give a hateful, unsolicited opinion like that. You never hear of people approaching dog-owners and saying 'I HATE DOGS',(even the ones in my neighborhood that blatantly let the dogs to their business on other people's lawns, and don't even pick it up afterward). Or how about going up to someone with a baby buggy and saying, 'I HATE INFANTS'. That would go over real big. But there does seem to be a double standard when it comes to cats. I guess they're supposedly 'expendable', too. Give your kitty away free on Craigslist, and it could end up as snake food for a boa or pit-bull-bait. Hit one with your car, and you're not legally required to stop like you are with a dog. (Or a kid.) And then there's that whole men-hate-cats thing. I guess lots of them think it's 'not manly' to like cats, or something.

But how insensitive of someone to tell their friend (you - who has a cat) that they 'hate cats'. Now that's one friend I think I'd be deleting from my e-mail address list REAL quick. I think she's saying more to you than just the fact that she hates cats....
