Here in south Louisiana, there are several different accents. There are those with Cajun accents from around Lafayette. Then, there are those from around Thibodeaux (we always know when someone is from there by hearing them talk). You also have the usual southern accent and the New Orleans accent. I've been told by a friend from California that, when she first heard me speak, she thought I sounded like a southern belle. Everyone has an accent who isn't from your neck of the woods.
