Both of my parents smoked two packs a day inside.

Dad has COPD and asthma now. DH smokes but only in his garage and less than a half-pack per day. I have asthma now that's aggravated by cigarette smoke. I can't even be around it in an enclosed space. I've never allowed anybody to smoke inside my house because of my kids.

I used to smoke and NEVER smoked inside the house. nm
No message.
Smoked country ham and smoked turkey with
dressing, hash brown casserole, green beans, broccoli salad, pretzel salad, homemade yeast rolls, chocolate pie, chess pie, etc. etc. Plus all the fudge, candy, and chocolate homemade chex mix sitting all over the place. Probably rice crispie treats and chocolate covered marshmellows for the kids, etc.
And why do they have to drive in packs?
Everyone bunched up. Almost like it is an insult if someone passes them. I prefer to stay back and take my time. I think it's funny that everyone seems to end up stopping for the red light anyway. How much sooner do they get to their destination - 5 minutes?
Mississippi. There were at least 50 12-packs.
More like 100.
I would buy a pack, but not 2 packs
x
I just bought 2 packs of 10 for $1 each at Walgreens. sm
If you have a Walgreens around you, check there. They have stretch book covers for $1 each, the 10 pack of mechanical pencils for $1 each.

Rite-Aide has six 1-subject notebooks (70 pages each) for $0.96, that is $0.16 per notebook (copy book).

no, the smoked ones are different,
and i haven't tried them...but i might have to.
My mom smoked for 63 years. She

always had healthy lungs. After she broke her hip the first time, the doctors kept telling me to get her off the cigarettes. She would not quit, but I finally got her to quit 2 years later by telling her I quit, because she also started falling asleep with lit ciggies and burning things.

Three months later, she was in for another broken hip. After the films came back from her chest x-ray, the ER physician pointed out a nodule in her lung...not sure if it was the start of lung cancer and wanted to keep close watch. I hate to say this, but thank heavens she never came home. I would have felt very guilty for making her stop and she might have gotten lung cancer through not smoking.

My husband's mother died from lung and back cancer. She had smoked all her life and quit. A year later, she was gone.

Makes you think and wonder about it.

I smoked for 20 years...sm
and I quit a little over a year ago, 11/15/07. It was hard...so hard, and I still want to smoke at times. I used Commit, and could not have done it without that. I still use Commit sometimes. But I feel SO much better since quitting! It can be done! Think of it this way...are you more afraid of quitting or of dying from smoking? Me, I'm more afraid of dying from smoking. Good luck to you! Just know it is absolutely possible!
my mom and dad smoked and my dad drank sm
it played a big role to me. i never picked up a cigarette in my life and i don't drink. not sure why you took that post so personally.

I'd say it depends how long you have smoked - sm
and how old you are. A friend of mine quit and went about 8 months or so, is now back to a 3-4 cigs a day due to stress, brother died (accidental drug/alcohol OD--plus he had diabetes and hepatitis), then mom got lung cancer (was still smoking at 78, 50+ years smoker, 2 heart attacks), I don't know if she quit but she had stage IV so they knew she did not have long (3 months or so). My friend is still doing the 3-4 cigs a day though she felt so much better NOT smoking. Yes she gained some weight, but she had a 3 floor walk-up apartment so that helped her some. I am hoping she will quit for good here soon. Her stress level has dropped as she moved back in with her dad (though he is not the easiest person to live with)...he wants her to have the house when he dies which is probably soon....he was terribly affected by his son and wife's deaths. Smoking sucks, plain and simple. I am a nonsmoker. I hate the smell, cannot understand how anyone can deal with stinking all the time, having a smelly home, smelly clothes, car, etc. We just stayed in a hotel last weekend, a nonsmoking room....I smelled the cig smoke the second I walked in the door, wanted another room but it was fully booked. It was not too bad but still annoyed me that I had a room, that had a balcony, where someone smoked where they were not supposed to. Sorry, ranting. ---Unless you are over 55 or so and have smoked for 30+ years I would not worry about lung cancer. My DH quit before I met him, had smoked for 12 or so years, pack a day. He is in great shape, lung cancer in his family too. He has been smoke-free for 20 years now. His lungs get sore when around lots of smoke though, and he did have pneumonia really bad right before I met him that I think did some damage (he was seriously ill for 3 weeks) to his lungs as they are very sensitive now as I said. But other than that he is healthy as a horse. Quit. Set aside the money you save and take a nice vacation next summer. You will lose your chronic cough, smell tons better, get your taste buds back, get rid of that stain on your teeth and fingers, and once all the nicotine is gone add a few years BACK onto your life. Good luck!
i like smoked salted almonds
is that the same thing? lol

I used to buy them in bulk
but it's almost like they dont fill me up, even though they do.
i guess it's that they aren't satisfying even though i like them, you know?

:)
we were born to mothers who smoked and drank
our cribs were covered in lead based paint. .And we turned out okay. . Your MIL would not EVER knowingly do anything to harm your child. . but 9 months old seems a little young - if she were older and could sit up and hold on, and MIL drove real slow, maybe it would be okay. . My dad used to take my daughter rides on the tractor - I worried but never said anything - it didn't happen often. . I think she should have asked you first.
marry someone who smoked or couldn't sing sm
He smokes and won't be on American Idol anytime soon but isn't completely awful lol
All I can pinpoint is that my son smokes and maybe a vet/tech smoked??? nm
x
Please understand, being that you are younger than how long I have smoked, docs
used to ENCOURAGE it - I am sure others can remember.  Doc sitting with a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket and suggesting it for best stress reliever.  Do I blame them?  No, not at all.  I truly feel that cancer is such a huge money machine that medicine would be hurting poorly if a cure was actually found (or disclosed).  And, as you have not smoked before, you are entirely correct in that you cannot understand.
I quit (I am still fairly young, so only smoked 8 years), but
I feel so much better. Even if someday I get lung cancer despite having quite, I am thankful to not wake up coughing every morning and to have clothes that don't stink and to be able to tell my kids not to smoke without being a hyprocrite. I can tell them why I quit. Mostly, I just feel better for the time being and that is enough. Plus, I save A LOT of money because cigarettes were darned expensive in Washington state.
sorry for typo inside, correction inside this one

chocolate/bannana pie. yeah sounds crazy but is really delicious. i found it at grocery store few years ago and everyone loved it.

take a graham cracker crust, slice banana in round circles and layer on bottom of crust. middle layer mix chocolate pudding and cover on top of banannas. cover with chocolate cool whip although i can't find chocolate cool whip anymore, you could probably mix chocolate syrup with cool whip to produce the same. top cool whip with rounds of banannas for decoration and grated chocolate and/or small squares.

Perhaps next year, you should ignore your ungrateful neighbors. Take those cards (and your kids) to a local nursing home and share them with lonely seniors. I can guarantee they would be greatful, and it would be a great lesson for your kids. Might as well share your kindness and caring with someone who will appreciate it!

I had very heavy bleeding during periods, would pass lots of clots. Also, when I would stand up, I'd feel a gush coming out. Sorry to be so graphic. I've heard that people have had a lot of pain with them, but I didn't. It was found by my doctor. He asked me if I felt that in my abdomen and I told him I thought I was just fat. My uterus was 22 weeks size.

Sometimes you have to unplug speakers and plug back in in order for your plug-and-play devices to register. You may even have to unplug speakers, restart and then plug in. If that does not work try restarting with speakers plugged in. I have had to do all 3 in the past. You could test them by plugging them in to a walkman or portable CD player. Might try Sound effects manager or sound effects and audio devices under control panel and go through a troubleshooting phase. I have a gateway and mine will only work in the "right out" plug.

The women in my family have used this for years for washing babies as well as our own clothes. My mother used for dishwashing. I am very familiar with its use, sorta like we have always used pressure cookers, some people scared of them, just things we have used over the years. Watch that toothpaste, though!

Too funny. Baby diapers and cut a whole out for the tail. You can get or make an elizabethan collar to put on her neck to keep her from tearing them up. (pic.) http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=15227&Ntt=diapers&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1

You can buy the cloth pants that they make for dogs at Petco or your local groomer
(pic) http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=14459&Ntt=pants&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1 I bought a pair and then made a pattern. Attach with buttons or velcro across top and there is a slot on these for pads or you can use adhesive kind. Can't resist emailing a copy of one of my babies with Sock diapers. I keep my husbands socks if the get a whole in them from his steal toes. Usually in same place so I pull her tail through there. Designer diapers.

I searched baked hashbrowns...

http://southernfood.about.com/od/hashbrowns/r/bl80201e.htm

This site lists a lot of dishes down about half way, ingredients are listed below names so you can scan for cheese.

http://southernfood.about.com/od/hashbrowns/Hash_Brown_Potato_Recipes.htm

Couple more. 2 of these have cream of cheddar soup. Gives good taste without the harsh texture of some cheeses.

Not a prescription. Should be available in any vitamin department.  Brand not important--I always just buy the cheapest!  Pills/capsules are big though--I have to cut them in half--so also buy with that in mind.  As I recall there usually aren't directions--I usually take 2 for first dose then 2-3 times a day for really no specific time period just p.r.n. (like when I start to feel the blister coming up again) and preventively (mine triggered by sun exposure so take after I have been out in the sun).

Are you asking for something to remove the paint/stain or something to remove the paper? Your saying "sticky", is this like something with sticky backing that has stuck to table?

I find it odd that you go through all of this about not gifting and trying to stay away from materialism, it's not what it's about...yet you don't mention one word about the real reason for Christmas.

Sounds like you're just not interested in being involved in Christmas, not that you have a respect for the birth of Christ.

By the way, the reason for gift giving is the same reason He came to us -- to give a gift. :)

Nothing wrong with buying gifts. It is not materialism. It is celebrating by giving to others, as He gave to us.

Maybe he misses you. Maybe he was just relieving some pressure. It's not that bizarre. Maybe you should tell him that you're there and available, and you wouldn't mind a morning romp or nooner yourself. You'd be surprised what a healthy bedroom life can do for a marriage even when there's discord. Guys feel closer to their women when they're getting some, but I understand how difficult it is as a woman to be physical with a guy when he's completely ticking you off. DH and I have figured out that when we get jerky toward each other, it's because we feel that one of us is carrying more of the load or not getting enough support from the other. So we try to make time to do something together even if it's just talking or going to lunch.

If the cat is going to be totally an inside cat, I think it is okay. . I don't think their should be too much pain associated with it - certainly not for 2 weeks. . But if the cat will be outside at all, it would not be a good idea, as it would have no way to protect itself or climb a tree to get away from dogs, etc. .

You all condemn Done's husband, though we do not even know what he wrote in this 'notorius' letter. How can you then judge and label him?

I said it already before, some people - I am not referring to Done - perceive even constructive criticism as abuse.
For instance, if a person is obese and somebody tells this person who cannot stop eating...'I think you should really lose some pounds...'
Some people call this 'abusive', 'rude', insensitive, etc.............

Is he being picked on in school? Sounds like there is more going on. Especially the part about him saying he is fat and then not liking stuff the week after you bought it, makes me wonder if somebody has made fun of the clothing/shoes and now he doesn't want to wear them. Kids are ruthless and mean. I would try to dig deeper. My heart breaks for him. I hope he feels better about himself!

My daughter (now 19) has always had more guy friends than girls mostly because she does not care for the drama and backstabbing that many teenage girls engage in. What I would take into account is how your daughter acts around these boys--how does she dress (my daughter is an athlete--no low-cut shirts, short skirts, etc) and what are her mannerisms (too flirty or just chillin as friends) or do you see something more--watch the behavior. Have always welcomed all kids to hang out at my house--even though it has driven up my food bill--because I feel that way I know what they're doing, hear how they are acting/talking (they can forget you are around the corner), and I get to know who they are hangin with. As time goes by you can get to know who a lot of the kids are in your town including siblings and parents--have always made it a point to network, network, network--soccer games, helping in school, etc. Always offer to drive too--they will also sometimes forget you have ears up there in the driver's seat. I like to remind my kids that they don't know who I know so they should keep that in mind when out in public because you never know what could get back to me.

I bought our Wii when it first came out, preordered it 2 years ago. My son got braces earlier this year. The orthodontist does not offer a payment plan so those thousands of $$$ have gone on the credit cards. it may have been a bad move to set up myself to be in debt like this but as my child has a very bad overbite, buck teeth and teeth behind each other I considered it a small price to pay for help with self esteem issues.

You will also note my original question did not solicit advice on what to do with the system. This is my son's decision, not mine. I was asking this to cover all of my bases BEFORE I retrieve the system in less than 2 hours from now.

By the way you sound very generous; I hope if you win anything you can give it to charity. Maybe you will win Powerball one day!

What I can't understand is this: If my son were to win $250 the replies in this thread would be very different. No one would suggest he give it back to the orthodontist.

If you're feeding your dog commercially bought dog food, Purina supposedly puts stuff in the food to make the poop easier to scoop (i.e., firm).

If you're feeding your dog regular food, try feeding him hamburger meat mixed with cooked rice for a couple days. That's what Granny used to do with her little white poodle that followed her everywhere and lived a nice long life.
Thanks!! see inside
He's 10.

He doesn't get residuals or anything, the contract i signed said it was a total buyout. But the fee he was paid was enough for gas back and forth (it's an hour and a half away) and food, plus I told him he could have a game he has been wanting.

He has had 3 agents for a while but this is his first real job so i'm hoping this will jump start his career!

Yes, my dad's parents
My dad died when I was 18. I love my daddy, and I love my pop (step-dad). It is so sad that my children never got to meet their grandpa, but they do also have a grandpa (my pop) that loves them with all his heart. I also have a brother, who was named after my dad, and felt it only right that if anyone uses my dad's name it be his choice, not mine. Does that make sense? Thanks for your input!!!
My parents did it,
and they would say DON'T get Sears to do it. They did a horrible job.

My parents have several sm
and are very happy. I don't know how my dad went about aquiring them (he does have his real estate license)so that is probably a plus even though that is not his regular job. My parents are able to spend 3 weeks straight in Florida each year due to time shares. Two weeks at one place and one week at another. He also will swap time shares with others so they don't always have to go to the same places every year. My husband and I looked into one at Hilton Head and it just didn't seem like a very good deal to us. I didn't talk to my father first, but felt sure he would have advised against this one. This is just from my experience. I have heard horror stories from others. Good Luck.
What about your parents
Treat them as if they were your parents.  Most of the time when I was married and we went to my in-laws, we knocked but then walked in especially if it was through the garage.  I did the same at my parents, went through the sliding glass door.  They did the same at our house.  To me is is a minor thing and I did not care,  thought it was great that they liked me and felt welcome enough to come on over and drop by.   If they ended up seeing something they shouldn't then perhaps next time they would have called.  Or if someone was there that they did not plan on seeing whatever.  Sometimes we had the best last minute pot luck and card games that way.   But that is me.
