Whenever she makes a comment that you
suspect is made as a dig, try smiling pleasantly and saying, "What?" and waiting for a reply. If she is trying to be mean and trying to slip it by everybody else, she may not be willing to explain what she meant. If you do it every time, not quite hearing or understanding those comments, you will tire her out because her zing didn't hit.
My opinion is whatever hair style makes you happy...sm
is what is appropriate. I am 54 and personally I feel like my hair is easier to style and looks better with my face shape when it is about chin length. Don't worry about what other folks say about hair and age - that's what I think.
Well this makes me feel better
We tend to eat out quite a bit on the weekends, although we never intend to. We usually eat out on Friday night, then sometimes on Saturday for lunch and dinner, then usually cook on Sundays...if I feel like it and we've had a chance to go to the store. Anyway, it's nice to see we're not the only ones who do this...
Okay, that makes me feel a little better.
I am a month behind on mine because a couple of months ago I was behind on the house payment so had to make 2 payments in one month, foregoing the truck payment in the meantime. My husband knows about none of this and I've been so paranoid that someone is going to show up at my doorstep. (had that happen years and years ago after my first divorce. I couldn't remember how many payments I had missed but they came to get the car. It was in the shop at the time and I had just filed bankruptcy. The repo guy was really nice and said he was just going to tell the company the car wasn't there). I've been trying to work extra to pay more on the car payment every month to eventually break even on missing one but with no jobs available a lot of nights, a child graduating high school in a few months, etc it's been a little difficult. I definitely sympathize with your situation. It is not fun at all - especially in today's economy.

Whatever makes you feel better.

Don't feel bad. Everyone makes mistakes.
The doctor should not have made you feel bad, nor should have your husband. Especially your husband because I'm sure he knows how bad you feel. My husband has said things like "you're home all day, why can't you..." whatever the point is. Infuriating! As if we're not really doing anything while we are at home.

Don't beat yourself up about it. Your son will get over it, and then he will be immune. Just do what you can to make him feel better (it sounds like you already are). You're not a bad mom! Hugs also!
I knnow - it makes you feel like such a fake (sm)
When you go to church and your husband puts his arm around you in front of everyone and they all think he's so great and that you are such a nice happy family. And if I ever say anything about things not being great to anyone at church they act like I am just being a bad wife. However, I have not talked to the pastor, which now that you mention it, is probably what I should do right away.
You are lucky, and so is he! It makes me feel good...sm
to see there are happy couples out there.
Do you feel it makes you a big person putting her down?

Kids want/need bounderies. Makes them feel safe
c
Exactly - it's taking the time that makes me feel guilty too sm
Solution they are saying is to go to bestlife.com and sign a contract with yourself and then Oprah has a bestlife challenge with diet and exercise and other tips and an online journal, etc. In the past when I have exercised regularly, I found that I felt like I had more time, because I had more energy to get things done. So I am trying to get back to that again.
I have also been using Fermodyl 7

on recommedation of poster on the board.   Believe it or not, I was thinking yesterday that I should post to update.

First, it does NOT make your hair feel greasy, heavy, or unpleasant in any way.  I have fine, thin hair and absolutely cannot use heavy conditioners.  It does not do to my hair what Rogaine did - feel greasy and then dried out.  It has a pleasant smell.

My hair is colored and I have a weave - highlights with foils that have been bleached.  That makes the ends get very dry and straw-like.  But the Fermodyl makes my hair very soft.

What I have also noticed is that my hair is not falling out.  It used to fall out in the shower, and then on the brush when I styled it, and then AGAIN I would have hair over my clothes after I got dressed.  Since using Fermodyl 7, there are a few hairs that fall out in the shower, maybe a few more when styling, and NONE on my clothes after dressing.

I do the scalp massage as was suggested - NOT a finger tip massage but I make sure my scalp moves, not my fingers.

Oh, yea, I have been using it for 2-3 weeks.  Actually - I am on my third tube and a tube lasted 3 shampoos, so it has been 7 washings.

That's about it for now.  I will post to update in a few more weeks.

Thanks to * .....el.....you know the rest *

Fermodyl #7 from beauty supply store

only thing is - this is a leave-in hair conditioning treatment - you massage only the scalp part and by only moving the scalp versus your fingers....my hair grew back in 2 months (was on interferon and lost a lot of hair on that drug) with Fermodyl #7.....

zinc is good for hair, teeth, and GUMS.......

You bet! Their poop is greasy and foul-smelling! Ugh..If the room can't

Users Are Losers ... and So Are Their Dads

Monday , April 23, 2007 - Fox News

Was it tough love, or cruel and unusual punishment?

A father says he wasn't trying to shame his 14-year-old son when he made the boy wear a large sandwich-board sign saying, "I abused and sold drugs."

"I'm not out here doing this to humiliate my son," the Knoxville, Tenn., father told WATE-TV as the teenager walked up and down the sidewalk Wednesday in front of Cedar Bluff Middle School, according to the Associated Press.

"I'm doing this because I love him," he said. "We do have an extreme drug problem in America, and maybe it's time for extreme measures that parents need to take to monitor this problem that we have."

The man wasn't identified by the station to protect the confidentiality of the son, but he appeared on camera. The son's face was not shown.

The father said he recently learned after reading the boy's MySpace page that his son was involved with marijuana and OxyContin. That's when he decided to act, and the boy agreed to the punishment.

After a short time, the school's principal soon came out and asked the father to call it off, which he did.

By then the boy said he'd learned his lesson.

"This is embarrassing. I ain't going to be doing it again," the boy said. "Drugs are for losers. That's all I can say."

Trak phone users --

I'm thinking about getting my 11-yo son a trak phone for Christmas.  He's been bugging me for a cell phone and I'm thinking this may be the way to go.  He often earns money mowing grass, in addition to birthday/holiday money that he receives throughout the year.  He's getting to the age where he likes to go to the ball field with his friends or just hang out at public places, and I'd like to be able to keep tabs on him without giving him my cell phone.

So, my question is, can you text with Trak phones?  I don't plan on him doing a lot of texting, but I know sometimes on my cell phone, I can't get enough signal to call out but I can text.  Do the minutes expire on Trak phones?

Computer users tend to forget to blink.
When we don't blink, visual acuity decreases. Get some good wetting eye drops without preservatives and keep them at your desk. Two recommended brands are Systane by Alcon and Refresh Liquigel by Allergan (these are thicker).
These are recommended by my eye doctor who did my LASIK and are not cheap.

Try to get in a habit of blinking more.

Hope these tips help you.
I'm very heavy

I'm very heavy and I would NEVER expect any concessions because of my weight.  I don't expect people to cater to me or excuse me.  I'm overweight because I don't exercise and I eat crap.  At least I used to.  2009 is my year of change and I have been working diligently on changing that.

I agree with the other posters who says if this woman doesn't like the way she's treated because of the way she looks, she needs to change it, not demand acceptance.  Fat is the last bastion of that sort of thing.  I hate all the politically correct stuff.   Bottom line is if you're that heavy, you're unhealthy and you need to change things.  And I, too, know just how hard that is.

Fabric softener makes towels softer, yes, but it also makes them less absorbent. sm
Which is, after all, the function of a towel, absorbency. :-)
If they're really heavy
You'll want to use a screw and screw anchor, or find a stud to put the nail in (no, no, a stud in the wall, not a good-looking guy to do it - well, hey, your choice!). They usually have holes in the back for hanging.
Or White Shoulders or any of those very heavy
s
Along with other husband, used to be very heavy smoker
and as a smoker you don’t really know just how stinky the place, your clothes, everything is until you stop. I do not think you will be able to get smoke out of the furniture, walls etc until it is no longer around. I probably would try cat litter, vinegar and water in bowls around the house, airing the home out if you can and I have boiled water and added spices such as cinnamon sticks - sure beats the smoke smell.
Anyone ever been really heavy and have a healthy pregnancy? sm
Well I am at 325 and pregnant.  Yes, I am tall but still that weight is very, very disgusting.  I wonder how I got to this place.  But I am so worried about my weight affecting the baby. The baby was nto planned - was a complete surprise.  A welcome surprise though. But I never thought I would be able to get pregnant while being this heavy.  I don't why I thought that but I truly did.  I am just wondering if anyone has been really overweight and how it affected your pregnancy. The doctors don't really see any harm in it, or so they say, but I am still a bit worried.  Thanks for all input.  I am getting the Lap band after I have the baby. I want to be healthy for my family after this and it seems like a reasonable option.  Thanks everyone.  Have a great Thanksgiving!
Congratulations! My Mom was on the heavy side
You'll be fine!  Have a happy and healthy pregnancy!  All the best to you!
My SIL was heavy and had two healthy babies.
With her last pregnancy, she started walking and eating better while she was pregnant. She weighed less at the end of her pregnancy than at the beginning. Baby was 7 lbs and healthy, too!
I need some heavy duty face cream...
…I have some areas on my face that are extremely dry, around my hair line, around my nose and I have used several creams trying to soften these areas up. Sometimes I even flake on my eyelids like I have sunburn and I use dandruff shampoo on my eyebrows because if not they will flake- no dandruff in the hair, though. I know this sounds awful but this is getting on my last nerve. I have put petroleum jelly on my face overnight- still dry in these patches. Does anyone else have something like this and if so any remedies? Thanks
Update, heavy sigh of relief. sm
My daughter just got a text message, her friend's time of the month arrived. Thank heavens. Thanks for your advice. Hopefully she learned her lesson.
My heart is heavy -I think my older cat is dying
It is hard to type or even see when your eyes are brimming with tears. I have had this girl since her mother first showed up at my door pregnant with her about 17 years ago. She is a purr girl and she has been sick, had a stroke which she recovered from but now a couple of months later feel like she is living on borrowed time. Not in pain but seems to be sorta stuporous, will respond when I call her name by looking at me. I have hand fed her water (ice water which she likes) and also she took very little in in the way of food. I called my daughter to see if she wanted to come by tonight after she gets off from work and she said absolutely. I hated to tell her at work but so afraid this ole girl is not going to make it much longer. She has trouble getting around so I am her legs now. If she needs to go to the bathroom, I will take her there also. I have her laying on 1 of my fav sweaters now in my work room, held her lots last night and today also. My heart hurts.
as I'm aging, I do not like HEAVY pots/pans

La Crueset was too heavy for me as is cast iron plus cast iron is bad for people with hepatitis problem(s) so I tend to stay away from cast iron (puts off iron in the food and hepatitis C feeds on iron) as I have a family member with this particular hepatitis.

My hands are also very bad after transcribing for 30+ years - so I tend to want nonaluminum lighter cookware which would be something like Farberware or Revereware if they still make the latter.  *lol*

Heavy gauge wire crates are a good choice.

Credit Card Reform Can Cost Good Card Users

Part of article:

Credit cards have long been a very good deal for people who pay their bills on time and in full. Even as card companies imposed punitive fees and penalties on those late with their payments, the best customers racked up cash-back rewards, frequent-flier miles and other perks in recent years.

Now Congress is moving to limit the penalties on riskier borrowers, who have become a prime source of billions of dollars in fee revenue for the industry. And to make up for lost income, the card companies are going after those people with sterling credit.

We pay off our balance every month. If they do this (punish those who have sterling credit) Ridiculous!! I'll stop using my CC and pay by cash or check.

So much for reform.

I was referring to my own hair, people hair. nm

Your comment
about checking BC pills will probably draw a lot of fire about teenage sex, etc. However, my daughter's 17-year-old friend just had a baby 3 weeks ago. They had unprotected sex ONCE and she got pregnant. This was a very smart girl, ranked #1 in the class academically, churchgoer, not a drinker, no drugs. She is now missing out on her senior year and all the hoopla, taking classes at home to get her diploma, and raising a baby. It is too late to say she should have abstained, this is the reality of the situation and all concerned are making the best of it. So I say keep checking those BC pills, Mom!
about the comment
I lived in a trailer park for 11 years, and to those who felt offense, I apologize. I know from first-hand experience that not everyone who lives in a trailer or a trailer park is trashy, but there are enough that someone created the saying. This neighbor happens to fit whatever criteria associated with the comment. I didn't live trashy when I lived in trailers, or any apartment I've been in, or in any home, either. It's an attitude and lifestyle that fits the comment...not everyone fits the comment.
Oh, by the way, add to your comment here
The "preachers kids are always the very worst!" You have heard that I am sure.

Well, guess what I am married to a Pastor, I am a Pastor's wife and these are my children who we are talking about. So I guess you can add that to your list of gripes. LOL.
Thank you for you comment.......sm
and I wish you all the best.
People who think that they can deliberately destroy their lives, are inconsiderate, selfish and unthankful towards people who love them.
Self-destruction is a sin, because it is a slow suicide.
That's what I am looking for- opinions from others. Thank you for your comment.
:)
Your comment about an old HS bad apple -
made me laugh, reminds me of a guy I went to school. He used to sell T-shirts at concerts (the fake one's, not put out by the performer/band); was high most of the time; now he is a copyright attorney - talk about ironic.
Was the flea comment really necessary?

Another comment about harnesses
Our neighbor was walking his dog with just a collar and leash. The dog was so hyper it it jumped and in the process broke his neck. If he had a harness on this would not have happened. It was totally heartbreaking.
do not let him anger you with this comment
he feels this way because you make more money than him, and after that comment, I would calmly and confidently remind him of that whenever you need to, maybe daily. Also, sit his dumb___ down and make him type one sentence of a hard provider, then calmly and confidently talk down to him and tell him he would never be able to do your job. Calm and confident. Do not ever again let him make you feel that way.
I don't understand the comment
"knowing the girls these days" can you elaborate?
I understand the comment very well
I think a lot of girls now completely out there with their dressing, suggestiveness, forwardness, aggressiveness. I guess trying to keep up with the guys. When you see a prison population go from mostly male to more females than ever, does that not tell you something?
I understood the comment, too
That's why I thought it was offensive.
Your aunt's comment....
''well, the doctors really do not want you to tell them what you think it is or what to do for any ailments.''

I don't understand why you are upset; she was talking about the doctors, not you, and her comment was pretty much right on. Unless I am misunderstanding.

I have some problems, probably fibro or a rheumatoid thing, and am going to doctors now for a workup. I do a LOT of research and I know a lot. But, in my experience so far, if you tell a doctor what you think it is, most will do everything in their power to prove you wrong or will just say no, if they don't think of it first. It's called arrogance and yes a holier than thou attitide.

So I guess I don't understand why this upset you.
Comment on Alli
I'm 45 and started Alli the weekend it came out in mid-June. I weighed about 185 at the time. This morning, I weighed 163. It's been a slow, steady loss. I haven't had any of the "treatment effects" that are talked about with Alli. Just the threat of those treatment effects if you eat too much fat and take Alli are enough... it teaches you to watch your fat grams, which makes you also reduce calories. I haven't felt deprived in the least, but I've learned to eat healthier, less fat, smaller portions. I've been using Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones for my quickie meals, and eating lots of rice, veggies, fruit, whole grains, lean meats. I have lost 20 plus pounds doing Atkins in the past, but gained it all back plus about 10 more. Over the winter, I was the highest ever.. up at about what I was when 9 months pregnant! I feel so much better right now, and I feel confident that when this bottle of Alli runs out, I probably could go without because in these 3 months I've developed habits that I can stick with. Good luck!
What a strange comment.
You were able to discern that from my post? I find THAT strange!

Actually, your assumptions are quite wrong.

I will say a prayer for you, that God may grace you with wisdom and patience.
why the comment about the jocks? nm
!
I had to laugh at this comment sm
when my hubby and I saw her on the TV I just said "Well she obviously doesn't have any friends....cause a true friend would tell her how terrible her eyebrows look."
