What to buy for new baby girl? :-) sm
I do not have kids and have NO idea what new mothers might find useful.  I am looking for an online source, so I can have a box shipped to the new mom, who is a very good friend of mine.  She has not registered anywhere and is really one of those people who is fun to buy for because she really does not expect gifts, but I know she could really use some things.  I know you gals will have some great ideas!  TIA!!
Oh, I am right behind you! My oldest, my baby girl.......sm
just turned 20, she still lives at home and commutes to save money, but she is in college for teaching, I just cannot believe she is out of diapers, let alone out of high school and out of her teen years!! My son, Adam, is graduating this year, turning 18, and while he also will be going to a local college and commuting, and we are very close, along with his girlfriend, he is on his way, too!

That leaves Alex, who is 11, and although he is still a boy, I am already starting to project, because often he stays over a friend's for a sleepover, my son is out with his girl, and my daughter is out with friends or working, back to hubby and me........don't know where time went, but I have such a hard time getting out those baby pictures, seems like yesterday and I remember and want the time back. Doesn't work that way! And yes, all four of us (myself and my siblings) have been extremely close lifelong with my parents, just keep the love and communication open, have lots of get-togethers of you can. I am trying to look forward to being a grandma (although NOT TOO SOON!!). Much love to ya!
I LOVED my Baby Alive when I was a little girl! NM

My baby girl is 9 months old today!!!!!!

Your baby girl is a little doll - thanks for sharing. nm

Little girl found was the Caylee baby
Just in
Yes, a 5 month old baby girl. Makes me wonder, too, if Trim Spa had anything sm
to do with her death. I've always been very leary about taking diet pills for fear of what it does to your heart. Synthetic medications taken over long periods of time cannot be good for you, which is why I stopped taking them after Metabolife almost took my life 5 years ago. I was on it for about a month and drank a Coke with 2 pills and I literally felt like my heart was going to explode - severe, profuse sweating, palpitations, vomiting.

Anyways, just speculation, but she did use it daily, according to an interview I watched. Poor gal. No more pain for her anymore at least.
My baby girl graduated high school today!
I didn't cry a bit.  I'm saving that for August when I take her to college.  I'm so very proud of her - high honor roll all year.  What a fine young woman she's become!  Just needed to brag a bit!
It is just like drinking Coors light determines you will have a boy baby and Miller Lite a girl. sm
I have heard that actually; however, it is not true.

I did hear that too much Mountain Dew makes one impotent!

Don't know who dreams this stuff up, but I would have to say it is not true at all. My hubby only drinks Coors Light and we have a boy and a girl, go figure! LOL
I enjoy them also. It's like, have you
ever recorded your own voice and listened to it before you get up in front of America and take such a big chance? Or asked an older sibling? Or taken a lesson? No? You might want to start smaller than American Idol then.
Don't even have a dog but do I enjoy
seeing them out and about. I have 3 furkids (cats) that are inside and do not visit stores with me but I absolutely love all animals and could care less if you bring your dog, just as long as it does not bite me, we can get along good. Doggie-Oggie
You are welcome and enjoy it!
After you get your IPod, maybe you can ask for ITunes gift cards for different occasions. A 25.00 card will get you around 25 songs, which are only .99 cents each. You just enter the gift card # on the website and it adds the amount to your account. Have fun! :)
Enjoy!
I just loved that movie! Sappy, romantic chick flick and you get to look at John Cusack for 90 minutes.

Enjoy N/T Fan
I still have to get season 3 and 4. How did you like last week's show? At least they're trying to redeem Christian somewhat, but on the other hand, they sure have some way out there storylines.
Enjoy it!... sm
Be careful -- push him away too much and he just might go looking elsewhere. Been there, done that. Don't agree with it and not making excuses for him, just speaking from experience. Some people can take rejection only so long.
Enjoy.
My babies are 30 and 24. I really miss them being small. I can't wait for the grandchildren to come along.
I had my last one at 33 and I enjoy him a
whole lot more than the others - more patience and tolerance I suppose. I'm also much more involved in his school since I know he's the last one.
Hey - Congrats!

First of all, congrats! (sm)
Yes, the tiredness can be very overwhelming. I would take this as a very good sign. I couldn't believe how tired I was the first trimester in both my pregnancies. Could fall asleep sitting up! Your body is doing a tremendous amount of work making that little baby. You'll feel better in the second trimester, and then tired again the last trimester. Though for me, I didn't feel like I was as tired in the 3rd as I was in the first, but everyone is different. Best wishes to you and your growing family!
Congrats to you and her.....
Nursing school is a lot of hard work!! Lots of nurses in my family (I am also a medical assistant). Just a little secret...when I cannot do my work, the nurses in my family help with my transcription. ;)

Anyway...congrats to her, congrats to you for being such a great mentor and for being such a great "helper" when she needed it! :)
Congrats!
I know the Atkins diet has worked for a lot of people. I know one in particular who has actually done it several times, only to gain the weight back and more, but I think the key is to probably transition into a Zone-type of diet after you are done with Atkins to keep your results. Best of luck to you!
Congrats!!!!

Congrats to the SOX, they got
the job done. Still wish it would have been the Indians though :-)
Congrats!

Congrats!!

Congrats to you :-) sm
I love my Rays. Been going to games (live 2 hours away) and watching them for 6 years now. I'm just so thrilled we got this far. It was such a treat.

But what really bothered me were statements from the media like, 'the series no one is watching, but no one will forget.' Pegging this series as 'not a sexy World Series.'

It's ironic that now that there is drug testing (so no steroids) that the 2 teams who made it, one of which hasn't won since 1980 and the other who has been in the cellar since it's inception in 1997, are deemed dull and a boring series...

I'm not sure about the Phillies, but the Rays were one of the only teams who had no players on the 'steroid list' last year.

I'm insulted as an avid baseball fan and as a Rays fan that the sports media continually poo-poo'ed this series. So... the only way a WS is good is if we watch pumped up steroid playera and/or players who make an obscene amount of money (one NY Yankee player equals the entire roster of the Rays).

I watch my Rays every day they're on TV or when I'm able to get to the games in person (love the Trop and the catwalks LOL), and I've watched every playoff and WS for as long as I can remember, no matter who was in it. I just pick a team and have fun.

I'm happy for the Phillies. It was a good, clean series and their manager has a lot of class. I'm sad we didn't win. Next year seems so far away, but I really had a great ride this year.

Again, congrats to you!!
Wow - Congrats!
That's awesome you lost all that weight!
Thank you both and congrats on the
weight loss.  Several years ago I lost 27 pounds and felt like a new person.  I have gained it back and more and need to get serious about weight loss for my health.  I have new clothes with the tags still on that I want to wear.  Thanks again to you both.  Wish me luck!
Hey, congrats! sm

Sober for 20 years, can you start a gab fest on how to do that successfully? You are the best! Just leave the rest! I can't swim either and I don't give a rat's pittouty!

Love this thread. What you don't know about me is I am claustrophobic, hate to fly and hate elevators and closed places. It prevents me from living my life as it should be!

Congrats.....
on being smoke free for 18 days! My boyfriend started the patch 2 weeks ago today. I think in that 2 weeks, he has had a total of 2 cigarettes (just taking a puff or 2 here and there, not a whole one at once). I started the patch 1 week ago and have had a total of 3 cigarettes(same thing, puff or 2 here and there, not a whole one at once). I only had a craving once that was really bad. Other than that, it's more the habit, type a long report and go smoke, eat and go smoke. lol I had him buy me an ab roller last night at Walmart and am gonna use that to hopefully help break the habit and maybe tone up my gut. LOL

By the way, cigarettes went up again here. My brother had to stop and pick up a pack for his MIL. Cost him $6.77!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous.
Congrats!!
You will love it!! I have leased two and NEVER had any problems with either one. Consumer Reports loves the car and actually compares it to the BMW.

ENJOY!!!
Congrats! (sm)
Congratulations on getting it done and presumably mailed by 04/15/2009. Next year, keep in mind that you can file an extension until 10/15 if you need to. Of course, filing that extension would probably just mean that you would be going through what you went through today, only on 10/14/2010 instead of 04/14/2010....

Anyway, congratulations!
CONGRATS!
OMG, how adorable! How old is your son? My daughter starred in a series of commercials for local health care facilities quite a few years ago. No matter how many times I saw it, I was just SO proud of her. There were no residuals or anything; just a good-sized savings bond and a few stuffed toys (unfortunately, one of which was Barney and my daughter was terrified of Barney at the time, lol!).

You and your son will have a blast and ENJOY IT! My daughter got full hair and makeup and everything, just like a little movie star.

Let us know how it goes and congrats to both of you!!!
Congrats!
Never saw your original post. Sometimes there are hot topics that quickly push other stuff off the board, so don't take it personally.

Congrats!
I'm so glad for you. Needless to say, this is a good thing for the remaining Chevy dealers, but just a horrible thing for the ones getting kicked to the curb. My son works in the body shop of a Pontiac dealer (you can see where that's going) but there is also a Chevy dealership partnered with them. I haven't heard yet whether they're pulling the plug on that one.

I would think it would be almost a survivor's guilt - so relieved it's not you, but so sad for the others.

YW, Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
xx
But you should enjoy yourself. It is not worth
it always putting up with evil people and not enjoying the holidays the way YOU deserve. I am nearly 50, and wasted 30 years or so before I realized that I do not have to be a part of this insanity. Even if it is just 1 person, its so not worth the time and good memories for you. We cut ties and never regretted it once. And my kids are grown now and have shared with me how grateful they are that we stopped doing the sick holiday visits, etc. We really bonded as our own family and are healthy mentally. Sometimes you do have to think of yourself first, though I know that can be hard. Merry Christmas to you.
We have a small one and really enjoy it.
I don't think the taste is affected at all.
Seriously, if you enjoy humidity,
you might LOVE NC. If you love the beach, places like Wilmington are wonderful.

At the very least, do come here for a vacation. I really think you'd love it here. Very green, warm and humid. Gardeners enjoy it. It's not quite as long a season as California, but pansies survive most winters, and then winter daphnes start to bloom in February. Houses are more reasonable than many other places, too.
DH and I both enjoy that commercial,
but he interprets it very differently than I do. I see it as a dad thinking his daughter is embarrassed by his house, and he wants to improve it so she isn't embarrassed. But DH just thinks she's simply planting an idea for her mother, and that the dad will think it's all his idea that the kitchen needs to be updated. I'm thinking this means that if we had a daughter, this technique would completely work on him!

Please Please enjoy your vacation. sm
I just went on vacation with my family and had something (nothing compared to your worry) that I just had to put on the back burner and enjoy every second I possibly could. I hope you have faith, because God does not give us anything that we truely can not handle. I will pray that your worries are unfounded. You have been given some wonderful advice above and just believe in that. Happy vacationing.
Don't ever apologize for something you enjoy!

It's a huge part of your life and there's nothing wrong with that!  We have the most wonderful neighbors who are crazy Catholic...I mean they wear rosaries bracelets, have multiple Catholic-esque bumper stickers, and they carry bibles the way most people carry a PDA.  However, they are the most genuine, sweet, and fun people I have met on my little street here.  I love having them over just to shoot the chit, share a bottle of wine, and love hearing them talk about their religion, which is a HUGE part of their lives.  They are happy, friendly, and they love life and that's what counts.  They know I am what I am (atheist) and while I know they say they pray for me, they don't make me feel at all uncomfortable and I think they honestly enjoy my warped view of the world.  Gives them some perspective of what else is walkin' around out there ;-)

Nice people are nice people, no matter what their (or lack thereof) religious convictions may be.

He is adorable! Enjoy him!

Good for you. Enjoy yourself.

I'm the boss at my other job. I enjoy the
homemade items, ie. cake, a tin of misc cookies or candies. Very sweet and simple.
Enjoy yourself. You have earned it.

Congratulations! Enjoy! And please keep it down there! LOL nm

is it abnormal not to enjoy sex?
sorry this is so personal...
I Have been in a relationship off and on for 6 years. I have never really enjoyed sex. With ANYONE.

And I dont mean because it's not spicy enough... or we dont try new things... not cause he doesn't know what he's doing...

This relationship is a good one. But I question whether he is the "right" one if I just simply dont enjoy sex. Mentally I want to, but physically I just don't respond like I did at the beginning. I know since Ive been with other people I physically respond to them because it is new and exciting. but i still dont really ENJOY it. but It's not like I hate sex or anything.

I'm really asking this to see if I am supposed to be with someone that I'm constantly gonna want to jump their bones. I know that sex is not everything in the relationship... and we have tried to make things better. We have good chemistry in all other ways.

No I was never molested, raped... or anything like that.

I just feel very abnormal and frustrated because I really love him and want to do everything with him... the sex is just like whatever to me. i still love kissing him all the time...

i dont know what else to say, im just really at a loss as to what my problem is. im under 30 years old so i feel like i should be enjoying it immensely.... :(
any thoughts?

I actually enjoy the hermitude.
And yes, I made up that word. :)

I am divorced, no kids, I live alone, and I do NOT miss the office politics. I loved my former boss but I worked with a bunch of dysfunctional harpies, and it is such a relief now that I only associate with people of my own choosing. Mostly. I get out to church on Sunday mornings, women's home fellowship on Wednesday nights, and occasionally hook up with a friend for coffee or something, but mostly I stay home, just me and my books and my music, my few TV shows and my online friends. I was actually more lonely when I was married.

But clearly you have a very different set of circumstances and needs, and I am afraid I don't have a lot to offer, if you're looking for advice... it sounds like you and hubby don't have a lot in common anymore, and that can be a real challenge. When my husband and I stopped having interests in common, it was really all over but the shouting; I went out and found some new interests of my own, and he did NOT like that, although he was not willing to meet me halfway in trying to find new things to do together. I said to heck with this, goodbye, it's a lot more fun to be alone all by yourself than with someone else being an albatross around your neck!

I guess maybe I'm just turning into a curmudgeon in my old age. 53 and still premenopausal, and going to bed alone with a book.

But again... my solutions aren't for everyone, especially with children involved. I really do hope you are able to find some solutions that will work for you; perhaps sign up for some sort of a class, take up a new hobby, volunteer somewhere for just an hour or two a week? Surely there is something you can do to get yourself out of the house and meeting new people? Clearly your needs are not being met now; but only you can define what those needs are, and only you can figure out how to get them met for yourself.

And meanwhile, you can come here and spill your guts anytime. Gut-spilling 'R' us.
Congrats... you should be proud
of her and of yourselves for helping her as much as you could. I did the same thing with my DIL, looked at it as an longterm invest in my grandchild's future, the sacrifice of all of you is definitely worth it. I was as proud as any mom when she passed her boards for LPN. My DIL is back in school for her R.N. now, so we continue to help with the babysitting, etc. Wouldn't trade the time with my 2 year-old grandson for anything, even though most days I feel really OLD by the time his daddy picks him up each night. Congrats again to her!
