I'm so happy it wasn't spider bite. Been concerned about you.
a
Spider bite question sm
I've looked on the internet and found the brown recluse spider bite pictures and 2 or 3 match what I have on my legs. Have an appointment tomorrow for the doctor to look at it. My question is: Has anyone had a brown recluse bite? Does it hurt? Does it itch? Did you hot pack it until you were seen?  I know-dumb questions but let me tell you, THE ITCH IS DRIVING ME NUTS!  I swear, it itches to the point where I want to lance it myself-without pain meds.  I'm trying Benadryl cream, Bacitracin, Neosporin cream, hot baths and now a heating pad. They only helps minimally. The one larger lesion has a real dark, dead looking area in the center with red and white around it-it sort of hurts along with the itch-and the other two areas are only red. What to do in the meantime until my appointment?
Possible spider bite update sm
And the diagnosis is (drum roll)----staph folliculitis. I had no idea at all it was so prevalent in this area and due to the fact that I have been on immunosuppressive therapy for years, the bacitracin just wasn't working.  Came home with a bottle of Bactrim DS and triamcinolone cream for the itch. Good to know it wasn't a bite.
mlstoo, update on spider bite please. nm

Glad to hear it. If he's still having too many,
don't give up on him. There are other drugs, though phenobarb is a good one that they always try first.
Glad to hear you say that,
I saw the female being interviewed but people just the gun in saying racist when it happens here. More people leaving the north and heading south that Atlanta is probably the fastest growing city there is and the blacks are in the majority. The police was deathly ill, vomiting and had to go to the hospital - if you can tell me how being sickened by a hamburger got to being racist, please??
Glad to hear it sm
Three nice stories, so happy to hear something positive. I do keep my distance and try to keep my mouth shut and help when asked, do not jump in or go over without calling, etc. and mostly when invited only and I don't overstay. I only want what is best for my son and know if he's happy, I'm happy. I think those of us who have lived longer and know better, get the drill. I can't stand the way we MIL's are portrayed, I really have not seen one movie, TV show or article with something positive, it's like the old "wicked step mother" theme that sold books and movies for years. So happy to know there are some good MIL stories out there. It makes me feel better. Sometimes I just wonder whether I'm doing okay in that department or not, it's difficult, I wish they'd show both sides but they don't. Thanks for the positive input, I feel better. Sometimes we need a younger spin on things, times do change and I want to stay in my place and do the right thing without being a pain. I also do not want to be neglectful of their needs. I usually call and ask if they'd like a night out, because I know how important it is for a happy marriage. They usually jump at the chance. Guys don't talk about these things and I would never ask anyway if I'm doing okay as a MIL. It's a tough job to keep your nose clean. More, more - good news! Be happy, perhaps we can put a more positive spin on relationships.
Okay, glad to hear you have got it
all covered!  Good luck at your new place.
Glad to hear that....
Are you an MTSO or QA? It's so difficult for MTs these days, Annie, so please bear with us.

We're told not to change anything, type what was dictated, even when it goes against every fiber of our being to let some of this stuff go. I have an ongoing internal struggle to not clean up every iota of poor grammar in a report. With ESLs, we may THINK we know what they meant to say, but we don't know that as a fact so we have to suck it up and leave it go as dictated.

I'm glad the MT in question wasn't zapped on the 'transferred' versus 'transfused.' As I said earlier, sounds like the clinician could very well be ESL, and I would not have tampered with it, either (and I've been doing this 22 years).

I hope she does rectify her other problems, for her sake and your sake :-)
Glad to hear it!
Blood clots can be serious, but now that they know what they're dealing with they can treat it. (My mother has similar problems and takes a rather large dose of Coumadin. She jokes that her blood is like motor oil. My dad, on the other hand, bleeds rather easily so I don't know what side of the fence I'll land on!)

I think you should talk to your doctor about your concerns about the birth control pills.
Glad to hear it worked! nm
.
I'm so glad to hear it. I knew you had it in ya'!

That is so great!!! Glad to hear!! nm

Glad to hear from another nonprude!
I enjoyed your posting, thanks for joining in.
Glad to hear from all the lonely sm
I am older and find that after years of holding back on personal information re. all in the community, I had to be careful about what I said or asking someone how they were, as I wasn't supposed to know they had cancer, etc. This further alienated me from some people I would purposely avoid getting into a conversation with. At any rate the "jealousy" factor also came into play from those not bright enough to "work" and the only thing they had to do was the annual bazaar, etc., which is fine but if I arrived on the scene and offered to help, I was actually ostracized as not being "one of the girls." I gave up on it all, don't even go to church anymore. I miss it because I believe in mind, body and spirit. Somehow the only spirituality and happiness I find are within my own home with beautiful CD's and private prayer, etc., I don't even want to try to get close to these "beaches." No one understands what we do, if I say "medical transcription" they say, "WHAT?" They don't have a clue. Glad I'm not alone. I was actually told, "Well, my house is a 'home' and I am a homemaker. I did both and my kids are healthy, happy and do very well despite the fact that their mom was a "working" mom. Geez, Louise! I also got told, "Oh, you work, so you can just bring soda and chips." I also bake, cook and sew!
Oh I am so glad to hear there is a shelter...sm
that does give pits a chance. I love em. I love all dogs.
Glad to hear the worst is over!

Thanks for posting an update.  I did wonder what the outcome had been and hoped you were doing better.

I hope the other stone doesn't present a problem if/when it passes.  It sounds like it's small enough that it may not be too much trouble.  Keep some drugs on hand, just in case!

Glad you're back.

So glad to hear that! They are scary to watch! nm

So glad to hear Shasha is a rescue....

i have a special place in my heart and life for rescues and feel the need to speak out on their behalf.  if dh passed by them all, then this must be the dog for your family.

good luck with whomever you choose...your dogs are very lucky to be part of your household.

I'm glad to hear your surgery went well. I had a vaginal...
hysterectomy about 3 years ago and I think it took about 6 months before the hot flashes started. Best of luck to you.
Glad to hear the good news -sm
Thanks for the update. That is good news! You have eased my mind about having it done, and I hope to do it real real soon. I know I've put it off long enough. Your messages have been so encouraging and much appreciated. I'll keep watching in case you post any more good news. ;-)
Glad to hear you finally got your money. Please also...sm
post a message on Clark Howard's website under Bad Customer Service as well as file a negative report against them with the Better Business Bureau if they're a member with them. The latter rarely does anything but at least you can file a complaint and let them know that these folks were scoundrels.

Glad to hear you're okay Hayseed
and hanging in there...Missed your wit and smiling face  around here!
Glad to hear the good news! Now.......

Glad to hear everything turned out okay for your furkid. nm
nm
Glad to hear your tests turned out good..
I wonder if some people are more susceptible to cysts than others? Have you had anymore cysts?

I have one on my head (hidden under hair), a lipoma on my forearm (need to get it x-rayed though as it has been driving me crazy lately) and an ovarian cyst (My GYN left it in place just in case it was helping the pregnancy). I found out about the ovarian cyst when I was pregnant for my twins. They were actually triplets at first (with one growing in the tube) so at 6 weeks, we had to have surgery. I was heartbroken to lose a baby but feel so blessed and lucky that the other 2 made it and have done well since. They are now 2 strong, active little boys and were 1 day from being full-term :)
glad to hear this; t.v. hosts/reporters are ignorant; I would have told her so, on natl t.v.

spider
We have those here too...they make me run fast! My brother was FURIOUS when I killed one. He went into quite a lecture about how "harmless and good" they are to have around. Arrrggghhhh!
All of the above, plus killing a spider
plus Friday the 13th, plus putting shoes on a table, plus stepping on cracks in sidewalk, plus handing someone a pin! Um, just a lil' bit. LOL
spider veins

After two kids and long hours of standing on my feet in college working retail jobs, my have extensive spider veins on my feet and ankles, with some on my thighs and calves.  Besides being unsightly, can these lead to poor circulation?  Would treatment help or am I just doomed to have vascular disease

We had a spider like that take up residence outside
This was when I was homeschooling our son, so it was a great lesson in the cycle of life - as long as she stayed OUTSIDE!!
Ow about your bite. (sm)
It was confusing to me that when I shrieked with pain, the next thing I heard was DH asking what was wrong and then cursing like a sailor. I thought he was mad at me for shrieking, not knowing he had hurt himself!

I was relieved to know he was just hurt, LOL.
DOG BITE
I find this whole complete thread disturbing. This woman was coming here to vent her frustration and was basically attacked. How sad!!!

I am sorry for your child. It is a terrible incident that I hope you win in court.

Dog owners have a responsibility to take proper care of their dog along with keeping it on a leash. When you take on a pet you take on ALL INCIDENTS that this pet causes. If this dog had torn up property, not a child, and they just offered a couple of dollars for repairs, I would hope that something would be done to get the full amount. yes this is a child which to me seems a little bit more important than property. I would think they should be responsible for the whole $800.

I want to know why who ever it was stated that she should get a fence in her yard? It is not her responsiblity to keep this dog out. It is the owners responsibility to keep their dog on a leash and under their control at all times.

My suggestion would be EVERY single time this dog is loose you call the police or animal control until something is done. In Indiana there is a three strikes and your dog is out law basically. Call animal control and tell them about this neighborhood dog and your daughter. I would really suprise me if it is not picked up.

Good Luck.

Also, in the US, you can sue anyone for anything at anytime. That is the law. It is not like this woman and child are suing over nothing. A dog bite is a serious incident. This dog could potentially kill a small child.

A friend of mine's mom has small dogs (under 10 pounds). One recently bit her child in a serious bite. The dog actually went for her 4 year olds neck!! Her mom was right there when it happened. The child did nothing wrong but bend down to pet the dog. Small dogs can do damage too.
Agreed! Hear, hear...amen, sister!

if you are talking about spider angiomata...sm
If you are talking about spider angiomata, broken capillaries, I get them.  I had one on the shoulder, one on the nose - zapped electronically in France in my 30s (pre-laser) - many many many moons ago and it worked!  Today, with laser, can be done effortlessly though expensive, and not real painful at all....but have only had laser hair removal w/lasers (and that's multiple multiple sessions - who can afford that?) and works minimally unless you do the multiple sessions.....
Hold on, can you or can you not kill a spider?
I just killed 1 the other night and I do not know if I was supposed to do something else to go along with that or do I have a jinx from now on?
Supposedly killing a spider
brings bad luck.
Here's the spider that almost made me crap myself!

Wow, you know your spiders!  It was indeed a garden spider...Argiope.  Website does indeed say they are harmless but I don't believe that for a second!  Fangs were as huge as my head they were!

I just went out and documented the whole fiasco as best as I could...therapy really.  I found the spider and took a picture of "her."  Apparently only the ladies get this big.  As I was taking pictures, I found 3 more!!!  That's 1 spider per square foot!!  You can read about it here: http://www.perin.org/Residents/Ellie.html and just scroll down until you see "August 2007."

I'm gonna go type now because it makes me feel safe.  Yep, 2 beers into me, nursing a third, and I'm hittin' the keys.  Should be interesting.

What can be done about spider veins these days? Sm
For the record, I have quit crossing my legs, but it is too late.

What works? I know there are creams out there and I can get Avon from a friend who sells it. She says there is an Anew cream that they sell. Is this what to do? Or do I see a plastic surgeon?

Any suggestions welcome.
Go today. Right now. Go to ER and tell them about bite.
zz
yep for up to an hour they can still bite you- sm
there was a story on TV a few months back about some guy in the middle of no where, staying at a remote cabin for a week (was getting picked up at pre-arranged date a week after his drop off there), on day 3 or 4 killed a snake by the house by cutting off its head, and then for some foolish reason decided to pick up the head which is when he got bit. By some miracle he did not die, came darn close though, if his ride hadn't come he would have died though.
All Dogs Can Bite
All dogs can bite. Breed has nothing to do with it.

Your "nice" breed of choice chewed it's owners face off while she was unconcious.

Miss Dinoire, 39, left hideously disfigured after her pet labrador savaged her while she was unconscious after an overdose, said: "I can feel just about everything as I did before. It may be someone else's face, but when I look in the mirror, I see me.

I'll bite
But first I will have to point out the differences between this and a gay person going about their every day life. No gay person is standing on the corner collecting anything, recruiting, or taking one nation under God from anything. They (we) are simply asking to walk our own paths unassaulted. Period. Don't put your hands on us in anger or hate, keep your discriminatory legislation out of our lives, don't key our cars, don't burn our houses, don't threaten our children or have your children threaten our children. If you don't like who we are, don't associate with us. It's that simple. Leave us alone.

With that in mind, no, you would not be shoving anything down anyone's throat unless you're pushing your belief on people who don't want to hear it and who tell you they don't want to hear it. This is fundamentally different than being gay, obviously. Any person who wants to hear a sermon can do so. Any person who wishes do donate money can do so. That is not a lifestyle. That is religion. Gay is not a lifestyle either. Where to people get that crap? The clothing you like, what you prefer for breakfast, the car you prefer to drive or can afford to drive, the type of dwelling you prefer - that is "lifestyle." WHO you are is not a lifestyle.
dogs can bite
ANY dog can bite, and there are attacks that happen that AREN'T pitbulls, so do those breeds need to be put down as well in your mind???
HA! Same spider that made me fall down in public (sm)
One of my most embarassing moments!! I was in a busy public area with a park in the middle.  I decided to cut through the park and walked right through a web of one of those and the spider was on my face!!!  I fell onto the ground, freaking out, flailing like a madwoman.  When I finally got up and realized what I had just done, I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there, but I kept shaking my clothes and brushing my hair, just in case!!
spider veins - take horsechestnut pills
proven to help vein integrity (I take it to keep the blood-brain barrier strong). Do not make a tea of it yourself - it is treated with something when they make supplements to take the toxicity out of it.
Another easy, cheap thing you can do is take large doses of vitamin C. At least 2000 mg/day. This also helps with vein integrity and also skin elasticity/suppleness as well.
duhh, dogs bite! lol
nm
My properly trained dog does not bite. Maybe yours does.

I bite my nails, so I get them done short..
they are really not too long, but look better than when I have chewed them all off. Terrible habit, I know, but a very difficult one to break. I quit smoking and didn't really think it was that hard, but I just cannot stop chewing my nails!
