What can be done about spider veins these days? Sm
For the record, I have quit crossing my legs, but it is too late.

What works? I know there are creams out there and I can get Avon from a friend who sells it. She says there is an Anew cream that they sell. Is this what to do? Or do I see a plastic surgeon?

Any suggestions welcome.
spider veins - take horsechestnut pills
proven to help vein integrity (I take it to keep the blood-brain barrier strong). Do not make a tea of it yourself - it is treated with something when they make supplements to take the toxicity out of it.
Another easy, cheap thing you can do is take large doses of vitamin C. At least 2000 mg/day. This also helps with vein integrity and also skin elasticity/suppleness as well.
The intake of vitamin K helps against spider veins. ..... sm
But be careful, do not take too much, only from food sources, yoghurt is a very good source of vitamin K.
There are creams which contain vitamin C.

If you want to take supplemental vitamin K in tablet form, first check with your doctor regarding the dosage.

I had some spider veins in my face, but those disappeared when I started to put vaseline in my face.
Are you going to laser your veins? Places here in NY say to have it done on your lunch hour!

That tator tot-green been casserole runs in our veins here in MN. nm

spider
We have those here too...they make me run fast! My brother was FURIOUS when I killed one. He went into quite a lecture about how "harmless and good" they are to have around. Arrrggghhhh!
All of the above, plus killing a spider
plus Friday the 13th, plus putting shoes on a table, plus stepping on cracks in sidewalk, plus handing someone a pin! Um, just a lil' bit. LOL
We had a spider like that take up residence outside
This was when I was homeschooling our son, so it was a great lesson in the cycle of life - as long as she stayed OUTSIDE!!
if you are talking about spider angiomata...sm
If you are talking about spider angiomata, broken capillaries, I get them.  I had one on the shoulder, one on the nose - zapped electronically in France in my 30s (pre-laser) - many many many moons ago and it worked!  Today, with laser, can be done effortlessly though expensive, and not real painful at all....but have only had laser hair removal w/lasers (and that's multiple multiple sessions - who can afford that?) and works minimally unless you do the multiple sessions.....
Spider bite question sm
I've looked on the internet and found the brown recluse spider bite pictures and 2 or 3 match what I have on my legs. Have an appointment tomorrow for the doctor to look at it. My question is: Has anyone had a brown recluse bite? Does it hurt? Does it itch? Did you hot pack it until you were seen?  I know-dumb questions but let me tell you, THE ITCH IS DRIVING ME NUTS!  I swear, it itches to the point where I want to lance it myself-without pain meds.  I'm trying Benadryl cream, Bacitracin, Neosporin cream, hot baths and now a heating pad. They only helps minimally. The one larger lesion has a real dark, dead looking area in the center with red and white around it-it sort of hurts along with the itch-and the other two areas are only red. What to do in the meantime until my appointment?
Possible spider bite update sm
And the diagnosis is (drum roll)----staph folliculitis. I had no idea at all it was so prevalent in this area and due to the fact that I have been on immunosuppressive therapy for years, the bacitracin just wasn't working.  Came home with a bottle of Bactrim DS and triamcinolone cream for the itch. Good to know it wasn't a bite.
Hold on, can you or can you not kill a spider?
I just killed 1 the other night and I do not know if I was supposed to do something else to go along with that or do I have a jinx from now on?
Supposedly killing a spider
brings bad luck.
Here's the spider that almost made me crap myself!

Wow, you know your spiders!  It was indeed a garden spider...Argiope.  Website does indeed say they are harmless but I don't believe that for a second!  Fangs were as huge as my head they were!

I just went out and documented the whole fiasco as best as I could...therapy really.  I found the spider and took a picture of "her."  Apparently only the ladies get this big.  As I was taking pictures, I found 3 more!!!  That's 1 spider per square foot!!  You can read about it here: http://www.perin.org/Residents/Ellie.html and just scroll down until you see "August 2007."

I'm gonna go type now because it makes me feel safe.  Yep, 2 beers into me, nursing a third, and I'm hittin' the keys.  Should be interesting.

mlstoo, update on spider bite please. nm

HA! Same spider that made me fall down in public (sm)
One of my most embarassing moments!! I was in a busy public area with a park in the middle.  I decided to cut through the park and walked right through a web of one of those and the spider was on my face!!!  I fell onto the ground, freaking out, flailing like a madwoman.  When I finally got up and realized what I had just done, I couldn't wait to get the heck out of there, but I kept shaking my clothes and brushing my hair, just in case!!
Glad to hear that it was not a spider bite. I was concerned
x
I'm so happy it wasn't spider bite. Been concerned about you.

Think you had a large garden or orb-weaving spider there! Scary
