I agree. I could never understand why people bragged about the size of their refund.

It just means they let the government accrue interest on their money throughout the year. I aim for less than $100 difference between what I owe and what I pay in every year. Yes, my refund is smaller, but I would rather put that money into savings or my retirement fund on a monthly basis than let Uncle Sam "hold it for me" all year long.

When will people understand
You were not a single mother, you were a separated or divorced mother. I was a divorced mother, had 2 children also and I never had to get food stamps or welfare. I worked more than 1 job and made it. I had absolutely no money coming in from my husband. I found you can feed children, if need be, on potatoes and beans. I bought my own home, bought my own cars, everything I did on my own. I have seen so much welfare/food stamp fraud I hope they will revert back to the old way of giving out cheeze and mystery chicken in the can.
Yes, I understand a lot of people

My PCP ; I can understand everything he says - my kids??? not so much!  LOL - I love him dearly!  He's the best!

This is why I just can't be so hard-core against ESL - we all bleed red!

Not young but people sometimes do not understand regarding this.
My elderly aunt is in her 80s. I am in early 60s. She has a much better memory than me and she has a close friend who is a scatterbrain like your friend. We are not forgetful because we want to be, it is something we cannot help. I have to write myself notes in order to remember very important things regarding business, etc. I hand my husband very, very important business related matters or else once in my hand they are probably lost. I have a file and put things there but then when I have to have, go looking and looking to find. I have a daughter totally organized and wish I were. Believe me when I am saying your friend does not try to do this.
Me2 - I never could understand how people could use crates.

I don't understand how people were dumb enough

I don't understand how people can advise
to stay in a marriage when you stated you are not happy, you want out and you do not love him. Why stay in this marriage? You know the answer and you do not need validation or feel bad because you want out. There is nothing worse than having to wake up and go to bed with a person you do not love. Life is to short to stay in a loveless marriage. Be good to yourself and be happy. Why have regrets when you are older.
I can't understand my co's support desk people and they are in US. Or

Dont understand why people generalize
Just seeing your post and stating 53 and from a different generation and thus against guy's ears being pierced- please do not assume- you are so wrong- I just posted above about loving my man's ear piecing and wanting him to get another and I am 65!!!
I so didn't understand this show...people homeless

I totally understand your point but people saying itch when they mean scratch

Agree with first. Don't understand second.

I agree with you, but I also understand
where Jim was coming from. We are not just talking about his religion. We are also talking about his cultural environment, his personality and the fact that it really was a different time. Divorce was not as socially acceptable as it is now, and I am sure that played a part in all of it. Jim was an old-fashioned, old-school guy. It really was a huge part of what my mom loved about him and something she would never think of trying to change. When I remember him, I think of him as a character out of a romance novel and probably one of the most important lessons he ever taught me had to do with his fidelity and loyalty to his own principles.

Some people might think of this as a stubborn streak of sorts, but I believe that in all that solitary time he spent at sea, he came to know himself very well. He had compromised much of himself on our behalf for a very long time but, in the end, it was his strength of character that led him down a different path.

Needless to say, I forgave Jim, but I NEVER really forgave the Catholic church for the pain its rigid dogma inflicted on my family. This experience has forcefully impacted my own approach to spirituality. After that, I sort of eliminated the middle man (or in this case, the institution). My journey took me through comparative religious studies and along the way, I embraced what I believe makes the most sense to me, enables me to access my faith and to be guided by a more universal concept of my own spiritual life.

That was also the point of my original post. Religious/spiritual beliefs are intensely personal. There are some who are guided more, some less and some not at all, by them. For that reason, I think that the only "correct" and viable solution to challenges such as these that life presents to us can only be found within the context of the 2 people involved, and will not come from outside influences.
I agree with you; don't understand all these other posters
It's not like he is 4 or 5; he is 10.
I totally agree...no one can understand this job but us MT Moms...
no breaks from anything...but I love working at home and wouldn't change it for the world...even if my kids do drive me crazy on a daily basis---LOL...part of the job...
Thank God there are people like you. I agree and would do the same.

I agree with you. Too many people..
want all the goodies now and when they are in too deep think they can just file bankruptcy and presto, all is right with their world again. I can fully understand filing because of a medical hardship, but too many people live well above their means, charge everything, never save or plan for tomorrow and then want you and I to pick up the slack because they are irresponsible with their finances. And yes, been there, done that, many, many years ago and learned my lesson, so don't bother telling me not to judge others.
yes, I agree, how do those people who have
a stone where the heart should be, dare to talk to people who are in misery caused by the FORMER ADMINISTRATION to talk like that?

That's not what the Bible says!
refund
I will be using mine for my trip to Vegas for my daughter's wedding - already got the flight and room paid for, but need a little extra spending money. .
Tax Refund
We sent ours in electronically, and we got our federal taxes back in exactly two weeks. Our accountant told us state would take longer.
Tax Refund
I got it exactly two weeks to the day it was filed, but it was electronically filed and directed deposited into my checking account so that could be why.
Completely agree! People should be

I agree but also the people had to be a little bit smarter and say...
I don't make near that, I can't afford that in the long run...they are also to blame...
Agree. IMO, the people who took the door sm
off the hinges should be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Hope the security cameras got a good shot of those SOBs. I read that other workers tried to help the poor trampled man and they also got hurt.

Think of how much business these stores would get if they offered such bargains for a longer period.

Greed is an evil thing.

With or without the tax refund, alre ady know what I am doing, how about others?
I gave my husband a card for Christmas with his gift being a trip to Las Vegas, his favorite place. I have checked out Caeser's - we usually stay at Bellagio - and when he wants to go is when most don’t, that being the dead of summer- the rates are great then cause most people do not want to be in 100+ degree weather. The higher price room for Caeser's in August is about half or a third of what it is normally. I can hardly wait - so the refund will take care of some of that bill.
Me too, just sent them back to get a refund..nm

I totally agree. All but one of the dozen or so people (sm)
that I know who had tubals later on developed horrible menstrual problems. Many ended up with a hysterectomy 10-15 years down the road.

I'm not sure the doctors recognize or admit a connection, and I admit my info is anecdotal, but it was enough for me to decide I didn't want to risk it.
i agree, if people didn't have sex outside of marriage, then
unless i'm wrong, but i don't think too many married woman are aborting babies who are fathered by their husbands. i think the overwhelming majority are babies that are the product of people married to each other
Have to agree. Most people know cost of that school and it is

I agree. It is in some people's nature to use those words.
My supervisors at work call me sweetie because they are southern and that is how they speak. Does the teacher treat everyone like that and it is just not part of your speaking style, or is there something else that seems inappropriate about it?
Tax refund slow in coming. sm
I e-filed a couple weeks ago with TurboTax and the "where's my refund" tool on the website says there is a delay in processing my refund.  I have no idea what the delay could be, but I am running out of funds quickly since my son's father has decided to start stiffing us on child support.  Is anyone else experiencing this delay?  Has never happened to me before.  Quite frustrating and very depressing since it's class ring time and the list goes on and on.  TIA.
I use TaxCut and always have my refund within 10 days...sm
I have used this program for several years now and never have a problem with my return. Does TurboTax advise what the problem is?
Tax Refund Check Turnaround
If you mailed your tax return it could take 4-6 weeks if I remember correctly.  You get faster refund check filing online (TurboTax) & if it is directly deposited to your account......
Yes, they should be fired and required to refund
They hurt everyone with this. It is lying, cheating and stealing.

IMO depends on age of people. If youngish, agree with big deal.

I agree! I could puke to hear people defend that name.

Totally agree! Lots of people under 21 drink anyway
so what is the point???? If they were to set a legal age, I think it should be 18.
I agree. People put problems or situations on this board to get - sm
advice from others on this board.  There are many different types of advice given and that is generally what the poster is looking for.  Those of us who have given our lives to the Lord, have found that it turned our lives around and given us great joy, as well as helped us through many times of hurt and fear.  We like to share this with others, especially when they are seeking advice on how to get through their own fear.  As Jan said, if you do not want to read this than don't.  I did notice however that you did not offer any advice for the poster to help with her fears and anxieties.  You just used it as an opportunity to slam those of us who are trying to help.
Did mine Monday, tiny refund $58 - sm
and "accepted" by the IRS on Monday night, so all done. Just need to print out the state, sign and mail off with our payment to them by May 1. Will probably do that over the weekend then will be all done.
I sort of agree; in the past years people miscarried
all the time only didn't even know it because they didn't have the ability to find out they were pregnant after 2 weeks! It is sad but definitely does not compare to losing a living child from disease etc. JMO.
Agreed to let hubby have all the refund on the income tax and drat!
See, it is like this. I told hubby to take his check book today because it costs quite a bit to get our taxes filed at H&R and I basically did not care about paying for it this time (between paydays really). I said if you will pay the charges to file, then they will have your check and anything we get back you can have and if we have to pay a really big amount, I will go and take that out of a bigger account in my name and I will pay, so it will be win, win situation for you. Drat! Can I take that back now? He has paid most all the income tax this year, as an independent I did not pay my fair share but yet, now he is getting close to 5,000. Can I renegiogate? Anyone else do this sort of crazy thing and then wish they could take it back?  Darn, drat, dagnab it!!!!
When I checked the 800 number for update on my IRS refund check to be mailed it is now
a week later and no refund check in the mail after the date they gave on the 800 line.  Anyone else have this problem.
Just my size!

I'm not advertising for the name brand... just stating a fact

I don't mind underwires, however.  I do tend to look for "full coverage"... I don't wear skimpy tops and if I did I wouldn't want it to look like a butt on my chest!

Anyway, with full coverage, underwire or not, I've never had a problem falling out, ever.  So, that would be my only suggestion.  I don't really have a preferred brand, just a style preference.  I've got everything from Olga/Warner to Victorias Secret to Walmart and K-mart specials.  If it fits, covers and I think it's pretty, I get it!

My 15 yo son is 6Ƌ and in a size
16 shoe, and getting ready for another growth spurt. I can always tell because for days he complains his legs hurt and then all of a sudden he is taller and shoes hurt his feet. Buying shoes for him is soooo much fun because when he finds shoes he likes, they usually go up to 13. Found a store that carries them up to size 20 now. I feel like I am going boat shopping when I take him shoe shopping. I was thinking of writing Shaq for leftover shoes....lol. My 13 yo daughter is 5ƍ and in a 9. Here I am at 5ƈ and a size 6 shoe. Daughter is looking into modeling but son is too tall for it they say.
What size is this?
My sister-in-law weighs about 300 pounds and is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall.  I would like to buy her a nice pull over, but I do not know her size and I don't want to ask.  Does anyone out there know what size this would be.  I am guessing at the weight compared to my husband's (her brother) which I already know.  What's the favorite store for plus sizes?  I saw Lane Bryant was closing some stores, but are there any other good stores?
Plus size

I would think if she weighs 300 lbs and is 5' 6" tall, she wears a size 30, or 4X.  If she's a little over 300 lbs, I'd get a size 32 or 5X.

I would also try to shop at Catherine's, CJ Banks Woman or Lane Bryant.  They're better quality and last longer than the things I've gotten at Fashion Bug or any of the others.  I do buy underpants and plain t-shirts at Walmart.

Catherine's is my personal favorite for both the styles and the prices.

If you're not 100% sure of her size, a gift certificate would be a safe way to go.

Oh look, they're having an "up to 70% off sale" right now!

Plus-size dresses

My friend is getting married in August and I need to find a dress quickly! Can anyone recommend a designer with a line of plus-size bridesmaid dresses? I'll require a size 14 or 16 depending on the fit (probably 14).

Also, I realize this is late and I may have to buy "off the rack" or via internet versus using a bridal shop. Any recommendations in the Philadelphia/So. Jersey area?

Noticed your plus-size??
I hate to be the one to tell you but the average size now in the states is a 14. I in no way consider that plus. Oh, to be a 14 again. See shoulda checked before hand- now that is not politically correct because it makes us hefty girls feel sad!
My DH had one on his shoulder about that size
He had to have it removed and did well afterwards.
My 17 yo DS wears a size 14...
my DH and 19 yo DS wear size 12. There are lots of big-footed men in my house, and I'm constantly tripping over their enormous shoes.
You can't do anything to keep their feet from getting bigger. Just get to know places like DSW and Zappos!
My 8 y/o is a size 5, but she's SHORT...
for her age! I really hope she grows into her feet soon, looks like she has clown feet :) She's only 4 ft 3 in., but has some of the biggest feet for her age.
You mean in clothing size? 12 to 14? nm
