Rain, rain, RAIN daily, flooding, 'nados, never above 78, not since last Sept. Is winter over yet
nnm
I live in Michigan and we just had 3 days of solid rain and $4.19/gal for gas. sm
We got the leftovers from Ike. Our gas is still $4.19 a gallon. We did not have the power outages that KY, IL, etc had, but we did have 3-4 tornadoes touch down near the MI/IN border. We have a lot of dams that are in danger of being breached and our whole side of the state is in a flash flood watch until Thursday. They figure most rivers will crest near the border by Thursday.
I make around $50,000 but I work 7 days a week and long days, although I'm not a fast typer eithe
I think even if your fast, you'd still have to work more than 40 hours a week to make that but I could be wrong.
I remember those days too, but these days they don't want make any child felt left out. They wan
to make each of them feel special and that they have accomplished something.  My 8-year-old brings a certificate of some kind during the day, accelerated reader award, trustworthy award, jr. achievement award, etc.  I guess in a way, no one kid is pointed out as the "teacher's pet" or have the other kids being jealous of him/her for getting this or that award.
don't want to rain on your parade, but I too --sm
have been in bad relationships and the one thing that stuck out in your post was the fact that he has been married and divorced twice. Just keep in mind that he has been divorced twice for a reason, and those reasons eventually carry over into the next relationship, as well. It may take 10 years before you know all his faults. I am not saying he is not the one for you, but just use your head, as well as your heart, and keep in mind that he must not have been all that perfect if he was divorced twice. I wish you luck.
I don't mean to rain on your parade...sm
But when I went to that 'breeder's' website, I saw a LOT of red flags: lots of info. about puppies-puppies-puppies!, shipping, taking credit cards, lots of use of the word 'teacup' no mention of a health guarantee, no mention of them doing anything with their dogs other than breeding them, no mention of screening potential buyers to make sure the breed is right for you, etc. Pretty much just seems like, 'Hey we've got plenty of puppies, if you have the money, we'll ship you one, no questions asked!' Not good.

I know you might have fallen in love with him because of his picture, but anybody can put up pretty pictures on a website. If I were you, I would RUN, and find a *reputable* breeder of Yorkies instead of that one.

My suggestion to anyone is to *first* go to the AKC Parent Club for any breed they're interested in. (Just search under whatever the name of the breed plus 'of America' and you'll find it.) There, you'll get all the facts, good and bad, about the breed, and you can get a referral to a *reputable* breeder (and see their Code of Ethics), where you will *dramatically* increase your chances of getting a *healthy,* happy puppy with a sound temperament and correct physical conformation, bred by an expert on the breed.

Here is the website for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America: http://ytca.org/mainview.htm (scroll down to the bottom).

If I were you, I'd try to find a Yorkie breeder through their Breeder Referral section, hopefully close enough that you don't have to worry about shipping. You might have to be patient and wait for their next litter though, because reputable breeders aren't breeding their dogs like crazy just so they can sell puppies and make $$$. But it will be worth the wait.

Also read the Yorkie Club's section on 'teacups' - http://www.ytca.org/faq.html#A (Calling them 'teacups' is really just a sales tactic used by non-reputable breeders. There really is no such thing as a 'teacup.')

I know you didn't ask for my advice on all this and I've been a little long-winded, but I did breed rescue for many years, and I learned a lot about dogs. I'm not an expert on Yorkies, but I do know how to spot someone who is absolutely not a reputable breeder, and I do know that the parent club is the best source of honest info. for any breed. It would save a lot of heartache if people would go there to start their research first, IMO. Best of luck (and health) to you and your future baby! ;o)

We had rain twice today, so
we are pretty happy here.

If you expect $60K to rain down from heaven think again

My Bible tells me that the Lord will provide (and has provided) for all of my needs, it does not say he will send money raining down for me whenever I get myself into excess debt.  Rest assured that the Lord will provide the faithful with all that they need and plenty of what they want.  It is your right to believe otherwise, but do not step on my Christian beliefs in the process.

Luke 12:28, "If then God so clothe the grass, which is today in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?"

No rain forest, no swimming anywhere here
I have also heard about the things you speak of. He says under the skin and it feels like a worm and he presses on it and it will stop?? I know it is not psychiatric and I would say he is probably the most laid back person, no stress that he ever displays to me so ?? I am so glad (hope that does not sound wrong) to hear someone else had similar. I will certainly pass on.
In Virginia ....
I was looking at Charlottesville, as well as more northern like Front Royal, Manassas, just not to close in to DC.
Virginia
I am a Virginian from day one and will never leave Virginia, at least if I have anything to say about it. However, I just learned recently that whenever you are buying a home here, your real estate rep will always be representing the seller. This was told to me by a real estate agent who had once lived in New York and moved here. Not only is the seller's real estate agent representing the seller, but the agent that the buyer has enlisted, will also be representing the seller. I know this sounds convoluted, but it is the way that it was explained to me. After I heard this, a lot of what went down regarding our purchase of a home, with regards to our real estate agent, started to make more sense. She recommended that, next time, we totally bypass using a real estate agent when purchasing a home, or to make sure we have a clear understanding with the agent that he/she is representing US.
Help me find a yellow rain slicker
I kid you not. My 20 yo son has asked for a yellow rain hat and slicker for Christmas. He's always been a bit... ummm .... eccentric. He has shown me a picture, and it really looks like the Gorton's fisherman.

On the practical side, my son is majoring in meteorology, so I guess this could be useful one day and more than just a strange fashion statement.

So, does anyone know where I can find something like this for a 6' tall, 190-pound young man?

High of 46 degrees & rain today in

I live in Virginia
and have often been to MB. We didn't start going until out children were toddlers and actucally were pretty good travelers (7 1/2 to 8 hours for us). Could you convince your hubby to go to a beach closer to Ohio and maybe be able to cut down on the travel time?
PS. I'm in SW part of Virginia. (NM)

Old Virginia is another good one to try
They're soy candles.  They're available at Cracker Barrell restaurants and online.  Some local gift shops carry them too.  I think QVC carries them.  The scent lasts through the whole candle.  They burn cleaner than Yankee Candles and aren't as expensive.  I've also bought them on ebay before.  I still like Yankee Candles, but these are nice too.
I'm headin' to Virginia in the next . . ..
1-2 years.  I have lived and traveled all over and have been in Georgia for almost 20 years.  I hate this backwards state!!  I am originally from Virginia and that's where I want to live out the rest of my life.  It is the best, and truly God's country.
My heart is in Virginia...
where the grass actually is greener. There's no other green like it. But, I had to get directions to my home place a while back, that's how much it's changed. I still want to go back, though.
Pay close attention to the post above...It is righter than rain!!!

39 and snowing in Virginia Beach
Absolutely beautiful watching the snow fall and then melt as soon as it hits the ground!
Deep south, Virginia, nah I never
thought of that as the deep south. We think of it as the northern most of southern states.
Same thing here in my part of Virginia
the flu, strep, bronchitis, and just the plain old cold. There was even talk of shutting down schools from a Friday through Monday just to give this a chance to die down. That didn't happen but we did get a rather large snow that seemed to freeze the virus. That did help, but warmed up again and seemed to start all over again.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus....sm

Santa Claus as we know him today has changed through the times, but his good will toward children has not changed.

This is a great link to tell you of that history!

Who's Virginia? No message inside
?
I'm 5 minutes from Ft. Benning. They graduate on Friday. It will be cold rain here sm
I, myself, and VERY disappointed that it did not snow. I've been here 10 years and have been praying for snow!!! It's only 38 now and won't get much colder than this all week - high in the mid 40s or so. Congrats to your nephew!
Horrible tragedy at Virginia Tech

In Blacksburg, VA.  Someone went on a shooting rampage and he and at least 20 others are confirmed dead.  My son is in high school but was there today on a field trip.  He and his class were walking on campus when a professor took them to a safe room in the basement of a building.  My son used his cell (wasn't supposed to have it with him but thank goodness he did) to call my hubby, and he came home from work to tell me.  I of course went all to pieces but am a little better now. Just can't imagine what the parents of the other students are going through. They are now allowed to leave as soon as the can find the bus and bus driver.  He was sent to another part of the campus.  Just needed to talk about this a little.  Thanks for listening.

I totally agree with you. I live in Virginia
and don't care that he played ball here. What he did is appalling and he should definitely do jail time, but I also think what L.Lohan has done is appalling and she could have killed someone and only gets 1 day and some community service. Doesn't make since.
Midlothian, Virginia - would pack and move back now
if I could!
Not West Virginia....Wisconsin...they look close when you use the initals.
WI.....WV....very close
Odenton Maryland/Virginia Beach Va info needed.

Hey everyone.  Hope you are all doing well.

We are scheduled for a vacation here in the next few weeks (business trip for hubby that we are turning into a vacation), and are going to be in the Odenton, Maryland area and then the Virginia Beach area.  If anyone is familiar with those areas, here is what I am curious about.

- In Odenton - book stores, yarn shops, fabric shops, flea markets, etc.  Obviously I have to do something to keep myself busy while he works for a couple of days, lol.

- In VA beach, a nice spot to picnic on the beach/near the beach that also has nearby access to a decent public restroom.  I know, sounds strange, but I have a health condition....anyhow.

Thanks in advance for info and advice.

Written by Francis Church in 1897 in response to 8 yo Virginia's question if Santa was real. You
VIRGINIA, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except [what] they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measure by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus! It would be as dreary as if there were no VIRGINIAS. There would be no childlike faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light which childhood fills the world would be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Claus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign that there is no Santa Claus. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world.

You tear apart the baby's rattle and see what makes the noise inside, but there is a veil covering the unseen world which not the strongest man, nor even the united strength of all the strongest man that ever lived, could tear apart. Only faith, fancy, poetry, love, romance can push aside that curtain and view and picture the supernal beauty and glory beyond. Is it all real? Ah, VIRGINIA, in all this world there is nothing else real and abiding. No Santa Claus! Thank GOD! He lives, and he lives forever. A thousand years from now, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood.

Days gone by
I'm right there with you. It is really scary out there today.

As far as the original post, while I know arrests of innocent people are made, I do find this story EXTREMELY hard to believe. True or not, though, you are right -- protection of your child is your first priority as a mother. Pornography is no longer just looking at naked ladies, it's just downright disgusting. I have two sons, 12 and 10, and I live in fear of what is out there that could hook them.
I have many days like that too :(

in a few days?.............no no no.....sm

The faster the better on these fraud things - your daughter is going to wait a few days?  This is VERY_BAD.

She should have already gotten a police report (takes 4 days to physically get it in her little hands) - and then she should have ALREADY called the bank to freeze her account, open another account.

BTW, my daughter had her purse stolen from my car - she called me immediately - I was on the phone with the bank, every credit card company, etc. (this was on a Sunday), and on Monday - I showed up at the bank and the perps got NOTHING.  Time is of the essence on these matters.

When my daughter first moved out of the house back in 1999, someone stole checks from her house/desk.  They got all her $$ which was $1400.  She went to the bank - and the bank, at first, didn't want to give her the $$ back - but in the end, they did !!!  All the $$.

Again, time is OF THE ESSENCE!  Hopefully, while I'm typing this, I'm thinking you are SURE to tell me that the bank was notified via phone when it happened.

*fingers crossed*

Yes, it went away after three or four days.
As far as results, I am 45 with very fair skin. I did notice that my skin FELT nicer. It definitely felt smoother, and I thought I looked "brighter", if that makes any sense. It didn't actually erase any wrinkles, but then, I have to say that I don't have tons of wrinkles - great genetics. I have crinkle lines when I smile, but not wrinkles on my relaxed face. I still use Roc, but only about four times a week, and I'm always very careful about sunblock twice daily. (I like Neutrogena daily defense.)
Days
Do you think Sammy and EJ will get together?  I hope so.  Lucas is such a tool.
One of those days
I think I am to the point where is someone were to offer me $100 I would take it and take my dog and two cats, leave and not look back.   Become homeless, no responsibilities or cares.   I know just a bad day and tomorrow will be better.   But at least I have somewhere to write this to make me feel better.
I don't think so - these days (sm)
People work into their 70s and beyond, that mentality may have been more reasonable when people retired at 60.  Especially if what you want to go to school for is 4 years or less.  I actually know someone that finished medical school at 40 and then started into residency - not finishing until 6 years later (extra fellowship).
Yes it is - in the old days with other
sick cats I used chicken baby food.  Sometimes mixed vitamin paste available OTC in with it but that changes taste considerably and syringed some in when they were really sick.  Baby food is not good for normal cats because it is high in fat but to get more calories in less food in a sick cat it always worked wonders for me.  I also mixed a little warm water in it.
My first 2 days were very fun.
The work is such a nice change, constantly moving. There are all these different greenhouses, and it's the slow time of year so I'm doing detail work like making signs. Today I culled out dead plants and entered them into inventory. I have come to terms with my golf cart; it is very useful when it's time to move the "deads" over to the compost heap and empty out the containers. Then I drive the containers over to the potting shed area. We all take lunch and breaks at the same time, and everybody is super nice. I have noticed they eat a lot of fruit and healthy foods for their snacks, and I brought in our leftover veggie tray from New Year's, and they were appreciative to share that with me today. They are very into their dogs and cats, and everybody has an interest in plants in common. I can ask questions about plants any time, whether it's work related or gardening related. I got to look at slides of live nematodes today. I am being taught to recognize pest attacks to report as I do my work. So it's all very active and satisfying for me.

Now if we can just get Bear up to speed. We chose not to crate Bear because it was a longer day with DH out of town. Bear did a little better, but did work on the ottoman a little more. I think we'll try crating him tomorrow, and I'm also eyeing a bottle of clonazepam I have on the counter! I know there are herbal things for dogs I can try also; I've just never had this problem before.
those were the days
I bet the stew cooked on the wood stove was great. . some of the old ways of cooking were tastier than they are now. . . when we had the ice storm a few years ago, my fiance said he fixed all kinds of food on his wood stove. . he was quite pleased with himself. .
Tried it for a few days
but just couldn't stand the taste of the soup any longer! I also didn't lose any wieght but didn't really have high expections either. I think if you have enough will power to try something like that, then just do Weight Watchers. I haven't done it myself but I've seen many people go through that program and it seems to be a heck of a lot healthier and better overall/long run instead of putting yourself on a liquid diet (because basically that's what you're doing with the Cabbage Soup Diet/Lemonade Diet, etc).

People are always looking for the quick & easy way to lose wieght (I won't deny it, myself included). Imagine if we put those efforts of looking for the shortcuts into actually following a real nutrition & exercise plan!
I will let you know. She says it may take a few days SM

to get back to me. I am concerned for them. I can image how she and her husband feel. I saw them today and she, especially is shaken by this. Thanks for caring.

Ever have one of those days
Ever have one of those days that you type and type and type and after 8 hours look and find you've only done 600-700 lines when usually you've done more.  Just am frustrated right now.  It's hot (102 degrees here), and I'm tired.  I'm tired, tired, tired.  I feel like I'm getting too old for this (only 48 years old but I feel like I'm 68).  Feels like I'm going to just wither and die in this chair.  My DH will walk out one day and find me and rigamortise will have set in and he'll have to unclamp my fingers from the keyboard.  Guess the heat is just getting to me and I'm tired.  Not so much the heat, I'm just tired.  Think I overslept.  I function good on 6 hours of sleep and last night I got 8 or so.  Oh well, in an hour or so I will be completed with my jobs and then will veg out in front of the TV eating something.  Oh yes....what an exciting life I lead here.  Okay, that's my venting of the day.  Thought I'd give everyone something different to read (although I'm sure a lot of you feel the same way).
YEP - definitely having one of those days...
Guy i've been seeing for 6 months left his wife a couple of weeks ago (yay for me) and then he tells me this afternoon that he's got a girlfriend and that it's serious and that she's supposed to be leaving her husband so that the two of them could be happily ever after. Definitely broke my heart - have cried all night, the thought of food makes me sick at my stomach, then my air conditioning goes out on the house and I have to pay a repairman to come out at 8:30pm to fix it. Oh, think I forgot to mention that I'm also married but he won't deal with anything so I have to get things fixed, pay, etc. Definitely a wo is me kinda night! :(
I go every 2 to 3 days....
my hair is extremely thick and I don't need to shampoo every day, blessed to not have oily problems or dry scalp. I rotate between 3 Redken products, Color Extend, Smooth Down and All Soft, using both shampoo and conditioner. I'm about to try Pureology soon, have heard good things about the products.
Every 2-3 days would be all right...nm
