have had all three, Dish Network superior
if you have an HDTV I would not recommend cable at all. It may not be true for all cable companies but Adelphia looked horrid on ours. Had Dish Network years ago and they were horrible in the customer service department...never again!!!
Like the Voom programming on Dish Network
our favorites. We were crushed when they stopped showing Voom programing
It doesn't matter "where you stand." What works for you is fine. What works for me is fine.
Comparing ourselves as to frequency is ridiculous.
That network is actually getting worse, if that is at all

food network channel

I watch the Food channel and now they have a special:  Giada in Paradise.  Love love love Santorini (Greece) where this is filmed but I am so distracted by Giada's massive ginormous head and large numbers of teeth along with her phony inflection. It is driving me nuts!  How mean am I??  She just irks me and it's ruining the show for me.

Next Food Network Star sm
I am watching right now to see who the winner will be.  They said this is the 3rd Next Food Network star.  I know Guy won last year and does Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive ins, and Dives.  Does anyone know who the first Food Network Star was?  I don't even remember that competition.  Thanks.
Watch the foot network. sm
I started watching food net work a couple of years ago.  It is amazing how much I have learned.  Especially Emeril, R. Ray and Sandra Lee.  Good luck, hope you and your family enjoy your new cooking skills.
Errr FOOD network.

Big difference between food and foot - MTing too long!

We are experiencing some Network Problems.
We are working on the issue and it will be fine soon.

Thanks,
MTStars Support Team.
As others have said, it's a network marketing (MLM) model like the others, but also -- sm
...generally, the only folks who make decent money in an MLM or network marketing scheme are those who get in on the ground floor, or very near the start. This particular company has been around for so many years that I'm doubtful there's much money to be made at this point (except for your distant upline) unless you are REALLY the salesman type.

If you want to act as a distributor without the pressure or need to convert others into distributors, as well, you could look into something like Vitamin Power (and others), which don't require all of that nonsense. You simply sign on to be a distributor then get the product at wholesale prices, which you in turn then sell to others at a markup. In fact, you don't even need to maintain an inventory, as they'll drop-ship for you. (Case in point, though I'm a distributor for them, I would get absolutely NOTHING for bringing you into the business, and I'm certainly not trying to do that here, as you can sign up with them, or a similar company, on your own.) In any case, I'd suggest avoiding multi-level marketing schemes altogether.
Tiramisu? Try Food Network for ideas, too. nm

her $$ wasn't big coming from food network

but she NEVER hit the BIG TIME until Oprah took her under her wing early last year.........and is why her talk show was put on the same channel as Oprah's show.

I really liked and preferred Rachael Ray when she was new, on food network, from upstate NY when it didn't all GO TO HER HEAD!  Now, instead, I find her annoying and NEVER watch her anymore.

JMO.

I have had two network cards knocked out by lightening.

My thing is Lifetime Movie Network movies...sm
I love most of the movies on this channel. I could sit and watch them all day.
All I know is that when I had Dish, if we
had 1 raindrop I lost service. Got rid of it the minute my contract was up.
Dish
I have never had any problems with Dish - they even let me have a package most people don't know about - and probably don't want. - I pay $6.00 a month and gey my local ABC, CBC, NBC & Fox channels - and for some reason I get another channel that keeps changing - right now it is the Hallmark Channel - sometimes it is the biography channel and sometimes Animal Planet -this is a good plan for us because we are trying to cut down on watching TV - and it helps us save $.
We used to have dish
Don't know what Direct TV is, but we used to have Dish. Excellent service. The only problem was when it would get windy it would knock it off track and DH would have to readjust it, but was no big deal. Very easy and only took a few secs to move back into place. Never had a problem with interruptions otherwise. I loved it and would get it again. We now have cable cos it was the best deal to get cable/internet/phone all in one package.
Had all 3 and Dish is my fav!!!

Cable in our area stinks.  Direct was better than cable, but not near as good as Dish.  The options available on Dish are so much better than Direct.  Little things, like being able to check the guide while still watching a show and looking up the info on another program and how far ahead you can check the schedules.  It's been about 6 years since we switched from Direct to Dish, so maybe they've changed, but I'd go for Dish.  They are by far the best.

Not a dish but...
I have a box for chocolates and a basket on my computer tower under my desk with a bag of jelly beans in it. Everyone started raiding my chocolate so I had to get creative and hide it in another part of the house entirely. lol If anyone else has this problem, the bathroom is great! Its up on top of my tallest cabinet behind a stack of decorative towels. :)
WIRELESS NETWORK!!!- sounds like you are getting hacked (for lack of a better term)
You need to secure your network. Check outside your home at these times for a strange car. A neighbor with a teenage boy or girl using a wifi connection to access your network getting on a porn or gaming site that bills via a VOIP dial-up It can be done.

you want to make sure they cant access you need to secure your network with passwords and such and turn your router off at night when you go to bed no wireless = no connection.

Hope this helps feel free to email if you need some more info.
Food Network TV personality...host of Good Eats.
Great show...he blends science with food.  It's perfect for those of us with attention-span-holding issues!
Someone on main board I think, recommended angel food network, which (sm)
I have been familiar with in the past. You might want to check that out as a way to save a lot of money on your food bill.
How about a smaller dish? nm

you forgot - any mayonnaise containing dish

any dish with mayonnaise cannot be eaten if left out, uncovered, for ANY length of time.....

there are many dishes one cannot eat if left out....general rule is no more than 2 hours on a buffet table or any table for that matter, in my opinion.....cheese comes to mind too left out.....

food safety is very important and the USDA allows certain things that also shouldn't be allowed....

ever read Consumer Reports?  I read in there that the govt (USDA) *allows* a certain amount of rodent feces and rodent hair in things like cottage cheese and canned tuna (the latter I love).....and I read that a long time ago....

better to be safe than sorry.......

If I was landlord and OP did dish thing to me,I would

Cable tv versus dish

Can anybody give me their experiences with cable televison or dish, specifically Dish Network or DirectTV?

I am considering getting one of these but don't know which one to go with.  Thank you!

Do you keep a candy dish on your desk?

What's inside it?

I have one on my desk, but it usually only has sugar-free gum in it.  Boring I know, but I hate it when my kids get cavities and since they raid my dish all the time, I have to take precautions.    I also don't want to tempt myself all day long with sugar.  Sometimes I get sugar-free Werther's candy or  sugar-free lemonade candy but those bags are so tiny they don't last long.

Use every last drop of dish soap...sm

I don't have a dishwasher so I have to use liquid soap.  I never throw the bottle away because I can't squeeze anymore out.  When I'm running my next dishwater, I run water in the bottle and use every last drop.  The cap even has enough residue on it for 1 load.  Same goes for shampoo and conditioner.  Even laundry soap.

I'll often use shampoo for body wash.  If you use Suave or VO5 it's usually only .99 a bottle and when it's on sale for less than that I'll buy a few bottles.  It's a lot cheaper than bodywash.

I try to do errands and appointments on the same day.  Mapped out right so I save gas.

Never buy infant, toddler, preschool kids clothes brand new.  Buy at thrift, second hand stores or garage sales.  They outgrow them faster than the bank statement arrives.  They also tend to stain and ruin clothes pretty darn easily and quickly.

What is your favorite potluck dish?
x
Oh, why not try a southern dish, possum
I absolutely have heard of people that have ate this, heard it is terribly greasy. Rabbit is another thing as is squirrel but I have never had, to me it would seem like eating my pet cat. Have heard of all the above except yattle. My mother visiting Mexico years ago told me of having a dish with unborn goat (guess they aborted the babies from the mother goats, ewwwwwww)but then she also ate things like pickled pig feet, pork brains, cow tongue and tripe. My brother and I mostly grossed out. Surprised she did not eat chittlings! Over the years I have stuck to more main stream here in the US and presently hubby and I eat a lot of chicken, not because of it being a more economical meat but more the way they are raised, that being more organic.
Let's Dish the Real Housewives!

I don't think I've ever had a more uncontrollable urge to stick my fist through a television set than when Kelly is on.

Kelly is such a low class, immature, little piece of trash! I never even heard of the b!itch until Housewives this year. I'm not a big fan of Bethany but her little speech she gave her at the bar (after being a half hour late!) really boiled my blood!

I don't think I've ever hated somebody on TV this much before. She totally disgusts me. I hope Bravo drops her off on whatever corner they picked her up after this season is over.

Anyway, moving on.

Ramona is such a jerk to Alex and Simon. Seems she's really holding on to the past. Her husband Mario is no better. He grates on my nerves.

I just love Jill. Can't get enough of her!  Alex and Simon have really grown on me.

It'll be interesting next week, Re: the Countess giving her 'talk' to all the middle school students on what being a Countess means, all the while knowing what a train wreck she is now!

Deep dish; Romance or comedy? nm

I put Dawn dish soap in the dishwasher
I did not realize laundry soap and dishwasher detergent do not make bubbles. I didn't have any dishwasher detergent so decided to just a few drops of Dawn. Suds came out of the top of the dishwasher and all over the kitchen. For a few drops, it filled the kitchen. You would think it would be easy to clean up but it was terrible. Soap suds can't just be mopped up, especially when they are 3 inches tall. lol

Your one all-time-favorite Christmas dish and present?

Round-trip plane ticket home to my family for Christmas

we have direct, and we can look at the guide while watching tv; DISH STINKS
we started out with dish, had it for 9 years. They would give all kinds of equipment and deals to their new customers but not us - their loyal customers for 9 years. Our remote was being held together with tape for crying out loud and couldn't get the networks with our dish because it was so old, but did they care?? - no freaking way. They only started caring once we switched to direct. Then they repeatedly called our house, asking why we switched and offering us deals. It got real old fast repeating why we switched. So the last time they called i screamed my @$$ off that if they ever called again i was going to sue them for harassment.

It seems like they only care about people who aren't their customers. If you are their customer, they don't give a rat's @$$ about you.

Dish sucks BIG time. But I doubt direct is really that much better. Our equipment with them is just newer, that's all. I can't get cable. I wish there was an alternative.
what is that all important side dish that is a must on your thanksgiving table?
For our table it is Lesuer Green Peas !My Mother always said they were the cadillac of Green Peas and a must at THANKSGIVING ~WHAT ARE YALL'S?
would love to slap more than a dish towel on his head!!!

No recipe, but just mix it 1/2 and 1/2 and put in covered dish or crock pot. Uncover to brown

In high school, those of us extra-greasy kinds would use dish
s
I use Dawn dish detergent, shampoo twice. Also use powder before bed on my head
I put the powder on my scalp and work it through the hair close to my head at bedtime. The powder absorbs the oil. This gives me a couple of extra days between shampoos.
Green bean casserole - need a soft veggie dish!

Watched Rachael Ray make a yummy looking sausage/mac/cheese dish
today that is now on my list of things to make.  If not tonight - then soon!

That's fine for you
Don't knock anyone other's way. It's not normal to have irregular periods. It's hard enough to keep track of my own (which I do, PCOS and all), so why not jot it down so I know my daughter(s) isn't going through something just chalked up to being a teenager when something might be wrong? People know if they haven't had a BM in a week; that's certainly not normal. However, that is easier to make a mental note of than periods. Sure, it's not something anyone wants to talk about over the family roast and potatoes, but it's something that needs attention. Jotting a letter down is far less invasive than asking how many pads are saturated in a day or something (which I would certainly anyway do if there was a problem).

We are nurses (hubby and I) and we like to keep on top of things when they are out of whack. I'll take the reins on this one when this is an issue for us.
That's just fine with me!
Just reading that list put me in the Holiday SPIRIT! Now between your cookies and that egg nog with laying under the tree (no not under the table, under the Christmas tree), you are all definitely getting me there... now to walmart for Charlie Brown music and to put money in Salvation army (I know type-A again). LOL. Anybody got more cookie recipes, there's a lot of pauses in between dictations here.... Thanks again! :)
It's probably just fine to eat...but..sm
if you're concerned you can always create homemade alpo or fancy feast and put in in ziplocs and freeze it....It's better than the stuff in the can and my animals love vegetables and real meat mixed with their dry food.  Just an idea.  Cat
