Dairy Queen
We have dairy queen here, the one with the waffle cone laying on the bed with whipped cream and another one where they have genetics testing, too many sexual overtones for me to want ice cream!

In your opinion, is there a benefit to forcing children to
My son is at camp for a week.  Last night was family night.  He cried and begged me to take him home but my husband and his leaders refused and said it would be  a big mistake. My husband was an Eagle scout and doesn't want to let this go, but my son hates scouting, hates the weekly meetings, the monthly campouts and is miserable.  The places they were sleeping were these three sided buildings with open fronts.   They were full of bugs, spiders, bees, etc.  They did not have a campfire to scare any critters away.  They have see stray cats, racoons, etc. But my son's main issue is having to sleep where there are huge spiders and bees crawling in.  He wasn't the only one.  About half the other boys there in his room (of about 8) cry themselves to sleep every night.  They are not homesick like we are told, they are miserable.  I don't want to be the over-reacting mother, and if there really is value in my son doing this, then fine.  But I don't see it.
Today's children are tomorrow's leaders and
your future neighbors be closed-minded and intolerant of you? What if YOU had something about yourself that was [gasp!] 'different'? Would you want neighbors and community leaders who persecuted you and limited YOUR freedoms? Or would you want to be an equally-valued member of society?
I don't live where we have blizzards either, but if my
47-year-old husband misplaced his coat and needed another one, you can bet your sweet patoot I would get him another one. It's called love. You may have never even had so much as a flat tire before, but it could happen any day, any time. None of us can predict such things as that. It has nothing to do with being prepared and having your AAA membership paid.
Has anyone purchased
the H2O vac advertised on TV through Thane?  I have a question for you if so.  TIA
No. I purchased it when I was 22 on a
off in 5 years. It was a fixer-uppper in a good neighborhood and had been on the market for a while so I got a decent deal on it.

It is still a bit of a fixer-upper, but I focused on paying off the loan and fixing the critical issues. Just in the last year have I started working on the "beautifying" aspects, and that is the fun part.

i'm not sure how they consider that a miracle
so is it one person or 2??? Personality wise I hope it's just one. I've seen that special with the girls with one body and 2 head and it breaks my heart how they will struggle later on to do things normally like get married and have children.
miracle
Thank goodness for her and her family they consider her a miracle and a goddess reincarnated instead of a devil child or something evil.

I looked this up yesterday and was reading that life expectancy is not good. One story mentioned a pig with this condition who aspirated when he was eating with one mouth and breathing with the other and died.

From a medical point of view I think it's fascinating. I thought it was a siamese twin thing at first but apparently no, it's a genetic anomoly that makes the head develop multiple facial features, maybe like being born with 6 fingers instead of 5.
I believe they just chew it. I learned when I purchased a plastic

I use Pumpkin Spice Torani syrup also purchased at (sm)
Cash N Carry - I have a pump on the bottle  and put a couple of squirts in - I only like light flavored pumpkin - but you could adjust depending on your preference.  I put it in the milk before heating otherwise it cools it down too quickly. Great - now you are making me crave one too!! :)

The miracle of Chantix. Please read

For all of you who think you simlpy can't stop smoking you need t hear this.

A member of my family has literally tried for the last 22 years to stop smoking. Used everything from the cold turkey method to nicotine gum/patches etc. He would go as long as a few weeks or even a month and then right back to smoking.

I got wonderful news last Saturday over coffee with my niece. Her husband whom this family dearly loves and respects has finally won the battle with Chantix. My niece has asked him a few times to try it, and a few weeks before Christmas he did.  He is completely smoke free. She asked him if he minds it and his reply was that smoking no longer even enters his mind. He said that with all other attempts even when not smoking he always wanted to and could not get it off his mind.

He is now concentrating on his health in general and has lost 12 pounds since Christmas!   You go Ray!  He has tried so hard and has come out victorious.

Don't give up.

P.S. He tried Wellburtin in the past, but eventually went back to smoking due to side effects on the medication.

Should have been benefit...excuse me (nm)

Miracle baby born with 2 faces

This was NOT in the Enquirer. This was really on the first page of the Lakeland Ledger in Florida.  An Indian infant was born with two (count them) two full faces. That is four eyes, 2 noses, 2 mouths, and the baby eats with both mouths.  They are calling this child the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess and a temple is being built to this goddess in the small town.  The family is being given lots of money and gifts, and visits!

You should see the picture of this kid.  Perfectly normal, except each side of the face is a full face.  Nothing else wrong that they know of.  I did not know what to think today, if I feel sorry for the child, or worried about how this defect will affect her life.  Also, what's it like to see with 4 eyes, and how much food will it eat with 2 mouths! Amazing. Maybe you can look it up on the web to see the pix.

I have tears in my eyes, this is a true miracle
Everyone is off and apparently as safe as can be, crew and I believe 151 passengers. I hear the engines when out when geese flew into the plane and pilot was able to steer back over NJ and land flat on the water. What a joyous outcome.
You are not paying for a thing that does not benefit you, obviously.

Also - Talking to his parents would be of no benefit (sm
His parents do not know how to handle him.  Calling their son names and telling him that his heart is dark are just making things worse.  He might get punished more or yelled at more or cursed at more....that's really gonna help, right?  He doesn't need military school or for anyone to beat the meanness out of him.  I am not a parent who believes in not disciplining their children....I believe in disciplining appropriately though.  If you have witnessed and heard for yourself the things that his parents have said to him, what do you think they must say to him when no one else can hear?  Also, often boys who are large for their age get treated so much more harshly by everyone around them.....suppose he was a teeny tiny little 14-year-old saying the same types of things....would you react exactly the same to him??  Because his mentality is the same as that teeny tiny 14-year-old, just in a bigger body.
Cats and dairy

Cats as a species tend to be lactose intolerant, but just like any species (humans included) there are differences from one individual to another.  Milk has more lactose or milk sugar in it and that is what tends to cause the bloating and diarrhea problems.  Half and half does not have so much because the cream does not have it in the volumes that the milk does.  I had one cat who, when she turned 14 or so, sat in front of the fridge and meowed at me until I gave her a little bit of cream.  It was so bad that if I was out, I couldn't even go in to make coffee in the morning or else she would flip me the paw if she didn't get it.

I have an older cat now who is 18 and she tends to do the same thing, but straight cream gives her bad diarrhea.  I put water in a bowl and then sort of color the water with the half and half and that tends to appease her.  I have yet another cat that is allergic to anything dairy or beef related.  Give her half and half, or cheese, or beef cat food and within 10 minutes she's yacking up everything that's in her stomach.

I love the little varmints.  Don't know what I'd do without them.   OP  = I'm very glad for the solution to your problem.  You saved a poor kitty from a bad life outside and solved your mouse problem at the same time.  Yay!

I cut out about 90% of dairy products. sm
The smell isn't the problem really, I wish it was if you know what I mean! The air needs to go! The sitting makes me feel like I am going to explode like everything is "tight". I am short and have abotu 35 extra pounds and tend to gain it around the middle and I know that doesn't help.
Past, present, future. Still expecting miracle.

One of those so-called miracle teeth whitener kits on TV. SM

This one came with a special light . . . OH, RIGHT!

I stood in the bathroom holding this stupid light (which I am sure was not more than a regular flashlight) up to my teeth, running to the kitchen where the light was better and swearing my teeth were getting whiter!  Did this for a few days, applying the solution (which had no color, no smell) and  NOTHING.  After a few days of this exhausting procedure my teeth looked absolutely no better!

TOTAL RIP OFF!

You collect widow's benefit's at age 50, not 60, unless you have a child
under 16. I had to stop my benefits for one year and then got them back when I turned 50.
re steroids in dairy products,
are these the growth hormones you are talking about? I guess the only way to avoid them is via farm your own or organic, yes?
Vote for Hans and benefit Siberian rescue
...Southern Siberian Rescue may win $5,000 in free food from ProPlan. http://www.rallytorescue.com/more_for_pets_voting.aspx Please crosspost and pass this email to any and everyone you know as well!!! I attach a flyer in the event you would like to post at your vets office, your work, local pet stores or anywhere you deem appropriate. :-)

Some of you may remember Hans, the 8 y/o boy we pulled out of Franklin County, NC in August of 2006. He was beat up pretty bad with infected holes in his head and face, teeth hanging horizontally in his mouth, fractured jaw, emaciated, heartworm positive, etc. etc. We did an ebay Auction to raise monies for his medical treatment. Well, Hans was adopted in March to a wonderful couple in Raleigh with a 7 y/o silver and white female Siberian. They just adore him and he is the perfect fit for their family.

We are signed up with ProPlan's Rally to Rescue Program and in February they asked the Ambassadors to submit up to two stories on our rescued pets for their Doing More for Rescued Pets Contest. We submitted Hans' story and they selected him as one of the top 10 finalists. YIPPEE. As a top 10, Southern Siberian Rescue and Hans's adopters win a year of free food for one pet and a 3 day/2 night trip to CA in October for the Rally to Rescue
Ambassador Party, where they will announce the winning pet. They have listed the finalists at http://www.rallytorescue.com/more_for_pets_voting.aspx and voting will go through September 30. Please take a moment and vote for Hans. It only takes a second and costs you nothing. :-) You can submit one vote per email address so if you have multiple email addresses, please vote under each one. The winning pet/rescue will receive $5,000 of free
food and we could really use that food. If you would like to see his transformation pictures you can go to www.southernsiberian.com and his personal website and full story can be seen at http://www.southernsiberian.com/foster_dogs__hans.html.

What a great journey for Hans. It's a true rags to riches story. I can't believe he's a star and going to CA!!!!! He is also a TV star now too as NBC 17 did a story on him June 22. It was a fantastic story. What a great adventure for a boy that had such a rough start.

Thanks.

Southern Siberian Rescue

Yeah that's my fear. Trying to give him the benefit of the doubt but (sm)
I don't want to be a dummy either
A spouse can collect widow benefits at age 60, but the benefit is reduced 21% because you took it ea
So, if his benefit is $1000, you would get $790. If you take you retirement at 62, you can keep the widow benefit, or your benefit, whichever is larger. It's worth taking it early because $790 x 24 months (the difference between age 60 and 62) is almost $19,000. My tax lawyer says always take it early.
Brunch guest who can't have dairy or salt - snowed in!

Out of ideas! Also, looking for simple recipe for brunch requiring stuff I have on hand. Martha always has some confounded ingredient I never heard of. Lost my hash brown recipe. Have frozen hash browns, sour cream, cr. chicken soup, butter & chips, forgot how I put them all together last time. Locked in, more snow coming, zero degrees in NE, don't even know if people will make it here. I'm frustrated. Have a spiral ham on hand, thank goodness! Sounds like I'll be cooking but will they come in the stormy weather. Darned if I do, darned if I don't!  The no dairy, no salt thing is driving me up the walls.

Oh well, have a happy holiday. Tip: Put furniture polish or cooking oil on your snow shovel and the snow won't stick.

Here are some dairy-free recipes. Then leave out the salt, of course

No, I don't think I'm a Queen (SM)

I don't have a lot of money right now and my daughter knows this.  I did look into a traditional moving company and it was over $1200.  I'm renting a truck and would gladly provide lunch for all.  I've helped my daughter many times, even since she has been grown, financially and otherwise; in fact, helped her get into her house.  I suppose I did hope she would remember these things, explain to "Bruce", and they would be sympathic to my predicament.  Thanks for your reply.

She is the drama queen but she does - sm
have a good voice (or at least I think she does, and they must too or they would not be putting up with her again).
Drama Queen- for asking a question that...
I was looking for intelligent answers to? It's a big assumption to assume that I am an immature drama queen with a very active imagination! A bit extreme to make that type of judgement over a person asking for opinions, nothing more nothing less. I was not looking for hateful assumptions about what type of personality that *you* think that I have! Don't be so hateful with your posts! And since you are sooo big on making assumptions, allow me to make an assumption about you- You are not used to receivng attention from the opposite sex, you are having a hard time understanding my post because you have never been noticed before?

And perhaps you are getting a little carried away with being hateful so you probably should not answer serious questions if you have a problem with being respectful in your posts.

Thanks for your comment anyways, even though it was totally off base and not much appreciated!
Even if she wasn't a drama queen, that

I agree about minimal dairy, but nothing wrong with grains IMO (unless you're a raw foods faddist
or have some sort of special dietary needs. Seeds and nuts are great, but keep in mind that they tend to be high in fat so shouldn't be used *too* heavily.
puleeze-you never met a male DRAMA QUEEN??
x
I am the queen of making whipped cream...
and never using a deep enough bowl (this happens many times mind you) and having whipping cream droplets all over the kitchen and me! Happens every time! Oh and used to make that awful yam/marshmallow thing at Thanksgiving (hey, my kids loved it!) and placing the bag of marshmallows on the open oven door and melting plastic all over the place.
Have you seen him in his full drag queen attire?
He makes one tall scary-looking woman...

Obviously some people have enough substance in their lives to see that this is a drama queen looking
who happens to have a very active imagination and is extremely immature.
What??? No Queen Anne Chocolate-Covered Cherries??!! lol ;-) NM

In my opinion, no. They were on their feet for the queen, not the manufactured princess. nm

food network channel

I watch the Food channel and now they have a special:  Giada in Paradise.  Love love love Santorini (Greece) where this is filmed but I am so distracted by Giada's massive ginormous head and large numbers of teeth along with her phony inflection. It is driving me nuts!  How mean am I??  She just irks me and it's ruining the show for me.

Next Food Network Star sm
I am watching right now to see who the winner will be.  They said this is the 3rd Next Food Network star.  I know Guy won last year and does Guy's Big Bite and Diners, Drive ins, and Dives.  Does anyone know who the first Food Network Star was?  I don't even remember that competition.  Thanks.
Watch the foot network. sm
I started watching food net work a couple of years ago.  It is amazing how much I have learned.  Especially Emeril, R. Ray and Sandra Lee.  Good luck, hope you and your family enjoy your new cooking skills.
Errr FOOD network.

Big difference between food and foot - MTing too long!

We are experiencing some Network Problems.
We are working on the issue and it will be fine soon.

Thanks,
MTStars Support Team.
have had all three, Dish Network superior
if you have an HDTV I would not recommend cable at all. It may not be true for all cable companies but Adelphia looked horrid on ours. Had Dish Network years ago and they were horrible in the customer service department...never again!!!
I have Dish Network and I saw it just fine.
Even recorded it. Too bad I don't know how to send it to you.
