Received a dx today of fibrocystic breast disease. Painful lumps in my breast. Going for a mammo
towards the end of the month. Anyone have any info on this disease?
Just use the machine to
Make the dough. Then pull the dough out and put it in your own loaf pans to bake in the oven.

Or bake them in the bread machine pan and pull it out when its done and wrap it in xmas colored plastic wrap wiht a bow on top. It's the though that counts. Who cares if it looks like it came out of a bread machine.

I'm actually wishing now that I hadn't gotten rid of my machine. I felt it was just taking up space for how little I used it. This would have been a great use for it!
what machine do you have?
pp
We tried the sound machine...
and he didn't like that. I think he likes the air flow even if it's not directed at him. I hadn't ever thought about the cost that fan is running constantly.

I'm not clear about the white board (drywall?, white boards that you write on?) but certainly is a consideration. I could make that easily removeable and yes cover with fabric. Thanks for the ideas too.
Leg Magic Machine
I saw this new Leg Magic machine on TV.  Does anyone have one?  Does it work?  I could use some more tone in my legs and I hear it can be of benefit to your back as well.
Does anyone have a bread machine?

If so, would you recommend getting one and which brand is good?

Bread Machine
Hi - I love bread!  I have a Hitachi that is old and works great.  I am antsy to get a new one though and think I will get a Zojirushi - they are the best I know of.  I mostly use mine to mix dough and then I proof it outside the machine (I proof in my dehydrator, you just take out the shelves and set it on low and shortly thereafter all the rising is finished - I use a big dehydrator from Excalibur so a lot of bread can fit in there!  Yummy bread.  It also saves a lot of money because bread is now about 2.50 a loaf or more for good bread, but mine is better and is way cheaper!  I got one for my daughter and got her the one she wanted (a Panasonic), which is half the price of a Zo and she thinks works just as well.  Just get one with the bigger size insert so you can make big bread if you want (you can always make it smaller, just by using the small recipe size if you just mix in your machine and get one that has a setting for adding in add-ins (like raisins or nuts or whatever).  Those are the important things in bread.  Go to King Arthur Flour website and check out the bread!  It is the best place to buy ingredients that you might not find in your own town if you live in a small one.  Now I am hungry for bread from all this and think I will go put some Portugese Sweet Bread in there for later! Good luck with your bread!  Maybe we could quit transcribing and open a bakery!  That might be fun!
Need to check RAM on machine,
how do I do this? Thanks.
New Washing Machine
A gentleman that I took care of/helped for a while (because of MS and being somewhat immobilized) had a Maytag, which was a top loader, but had all the computerized bells and whistles on it and I was amazed at the amount of water that was extracted after the spin cycle was completed -- it took HALF the time for the clothes to dry because of that, but another suggestion that I would make is checking out Consumer Reports and just do an internet search as well to see what the top rate machines might be -- no sense in "going inexpensive" only to have to replace in 2-3 years :)
If you operated the machine
you would be a moderator here, but you're not...and that's why you're angry, because you aren't in control.
HA! Me too. My son is using my step machine
!
Sorry! What type of machine do you have? :)

Breadh machine help!!! sm
Due to the economy, I thought it wise to purchase one of these. I went to Kohl's and purchased a basic Oster on sale. I do not have official 'bread machine flour" or official yeast. I did make an attemt with King Arthur (KA) 2 cups and Flischman's yeast. It is set to go off at 9:00 PM and it doesn't look to promising but it smells good! Any info on making bread - refuse to pay all that money per loaf. Help - some may not agree, but I think we should bring back the recipe board to help us through winter. Thanks so much for your input!!!
I have a bread machine but....

how do you bake without using the pan they provide? I have an Oster and the pan has the mixer built right in.

Yep, just mix up the dough in the machine
for Cinnebons, pizza dough, rolls, etc.

Home-made bread turns out great baked in the machine. I don't use those box breads from the grocery store.

My sister has 2 machines and bakes 2 loaves of bread daily, all different kinds. Her house smells so good!
Don't know if this machine is broken or not...help?
Sorry to intrude here but someone in this crowd likely know the answer to my quandary(SP?)... I'm not a Transcriptionist but my neighbor wants me to sell these two machines he has. I learned trans back in high school (30 years ago!) but think these two machine "might" be broken. Both units are micro players (the Lanier VW-210 and Lanier P-101). Neither show the "units" or "location" in their digital displays... From my recall, the machine was supposed to tell you where in the tape you were (hence I believe the above indicators). Everything else works on the machines but if they're broken I don't think I should sell them. Any suggestions? I went looking for advice, online manuals, you name it. Whatever suggestions or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Actually, he's not a breast man
He is a realtor and doing very well. Large breasts are not what he looks for in a woman - and he knows what breasts are meant for first and foremost - nutrition. You did things your way - I did things mine - and I doubt that we will ever read of one of our children becoming sexual perverts or serial killers - I think this thread was probably very encouraging to those who did not post but have emailed me because they were afraid of being blasted like I have been - but I say - who cares - to each his own - and mine was BF for 6 years. Now you want to hear about my sex life?
I have an elliptical machine, 30+ minutes a day...
on that and I have a Pilates machine, try at least 3 times a week on that for 45 minutes.
Anyone scrapbook and have the Cricut machine? sm
I am considering purchasing one and would like some opinions.
Need a new washing machine...any suggestions? sm
Either a regular top loader or one of those front loaders I am looking for but nothing over $700.  All opinions welcome!
You can make one yourself at Walmart with their machine (sm)
they have them here in North Carolina beside the photo drop-off area. I had someone help with my mother and father in-laws though because I wanted music added. If you are very computer savvy though, you may be able to do it yourself if adding music matters to you.
Take a sewing class, and take the machine - sm
with you. There you will learn how to use it and how to sew too. I have been sewing since I took home-ec in 7th grade. I have a Singer that is about 20 years old or more. It is a pretty basic one with about 12 different stitch types. Have never had an issue. Sounds like you don't have the bobbin in right or wound wrong, and the tension too tight too. The tension is adjusted with the different fabrics you use, and the thread of course. But sounds like you need a simple "how to sew" class. Call a local craft store and see what they offer. Even one private lesson would probably do you a world of good. Good luck.
Maybe point and shoot like two machine guns? ....LOL!

I just use the answer machine to screen calls - sm
if its a recorded call, it doesn't record. If it's a sales call, they rarely leave a message, and if they do, I erase it. If I need to be available to family members, I tell them to identify themselves in the message, and I'll pick up.
I use the answering machine to screen calls too--sm
if it is something important and they begin to leave a message, I will answer, otherwise I won't. Most of the time, they will not leave a message.

The do not call list is helpful, but not for everything. If you really want to take the time, you can answer the phone and before they start their pitch, tell them nicely that you wish to be removed from their call list. They are supposed to remove you. If they call back after that, you can report them to the do not call list and they will be fined for it. Also ask for the name of who you are speaking to. Sometimes two or three different people from the same place have your number and even though you ask to be removed from one person calling, the next may not know that and call you anyway. It took me almost a week of doing this on a daily basis and eventually the calls stopped. It takes time, but it works. oh, heavenly peace and quiet!
machine to remove cigarette smoke?
my husband's smoking is almost intolerable to me anymore.  He won't smoke outside for me.  Does anyone know first-hand of a machine that effectively gets all or most of the smoke/smell out of the room being smoked in? thanks.
Machine of my choice - divorce lawyer
I couldn't live like that. Besides the awful stench and the health hazards, I wouldn't stand for his lack of respect for me.
followup on machine to remove cig smoke

First, thanks again to those who tried to be helpful/supportive.  Secondly, i may (!)have made a breakthrough this morning, Praise God!!  Sparing the details, after another fit of mine over trying to eat in a 'cloud', i put it to him this way:  Saying, "i've been looking into air cleaners to remove the smoke smell from the house, and they will cost from $700 to $1000.  So which is it going to be -- will you quit smoking, smoke outside the house or do we invest in these expensive air cleaners?  I just can't tolerate it like i used to."

I let him ponder awhile and asked again for the answer.  I about fell off my feet when he said he'd try harder to quit smoking and that he might start smoking outside the house, and might even consider a prescription to help...Good Golly Miss Molly!!

Wonders truly never cease!!

My daughter has for some time said to let answering machine
get the phone calls- she knows a lot of telemarketers call so it is not my idea, but hers to begin with! I have for years and years tried to explain that IF she thinks by my tone of voice I am upset, to please ASK, that is all- I will tell her no, not much upsetting in my life. If most parents would be truthful, they would probably say they preferred 1 child over another- my son was the chosen 1 so to speak. I thought he hung the moon when he was younger. He changed a lot- to be so disrespectful when if not for me- even his own father told me after son grown if not for me- where would my son have been- that I was like the rock, he was the rolling stone, never sticking around. I would hate for that to happen- I think most parents would hate to see a child die but at the same time- what about if his mother dies and he does not try to make amends- the road goes both ways you know. I feel I have done no wrong in the relationship at all. I am at peace with myself. As far as the daughter goes- wish you could ask my housekeeper who has been with me for years about my daughter- you would get an earful- she is a very spoiled girl, a me type person and her mother is not first on her list of people to see- she does for her friends and I have always been on the backburner with her. Told my aunt yesterday I love her but I don’t like her a lot of the time. And no flame for this- other parents feel the same and I know they do about certain children. Always asked if she is only child- that should tell you a lot.
Agree. 1 of the masses. A tiny cog in a machine. I

breast pain
Go ahead and try the Vit E - I took it for a couple of years and didn't notice any difference, but that doesn't you won't. I did the diet elimination of caffeine, which was really rough for me, but it made absolutely no difference. I think that pain is hormone related. My GYN told me after I did a year of the no caffeine diet that they had found that almost no one responded to it.

I have been told, since my first mammogram at age 37 that I have "changes consistent with fibrocystic disease." Even after menopause, I still get breast pain off and on. My right breast feels like it has a little rock in it; sometimes the discomfort/pain/tenderness shoots into my underarm area. It hasn't gotten better or worse in 20 years.

Sorry to not be more helpful.
Breast pain

I have a very personal question.  Does anyone have severe breast pain before their menstrual cycle.  I literally have excruciating pain for about two weeks before my cycle.  I have tried Motrin, heat, Primrose, herbal supplements and changing my diet.  Nothing works.  I've had a couple of mammograms which were both normal.  I am at my wits end.  I am questioning a hysterectomy to relieve the symptoms (it's that bad).  I have always had this but the pain seems to be getting worse.  I only have about two weeks without breast pain.  Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations.  I am willing to try anything.

Thanks ahead of time.....

I had a breast reduction so do not have to even
wear 1 if I don’t want to. If I do, cannot wear the underwire deals. Used to be the breasts would enter the room about 5 minutes before I did, hated that!!
breast reduction
Double D's here -- can relate to the boobs entering the room first. LOL I have thought about a reduction -- if only I had the insurance coverage. I think the extra up front contributes to my low back problems. Was the surgery a difficult thing to go through? Is it painful?
Breast Cancer
I was diagnosed with breast cancer on Thurs. and will have a lumpectomy this week followed by six weeks of radiation therapy.  Are there any ladies who have been through this and can you tell me how soon you were able to get back to work and did it affect your ablility to work and focus.  My brain won't work and my feelings are all over the map.   I'm an independent contractor with my own clients. Thanks for any help or advice. PinkLady
Breast Cancer

Thanks for you kind response.  I will get the book today.  I don't know what happened to the rest of the responses.  I emailed the moderator to ask where they went, as I would like to reread them.  My head is spinning, but putting one foot in front of the other is all I can do, plus yesterday I used the push mower to mow about an acre of my 5 acres out back.  That did wonders for my anxiety.  Didn't do much for the owie where I had the biopsy, but at this point, that bruise doesn't matter too much.  Blessings to you for your care and concern.

Breast Cancer
Gosh - Sometimes it just seems so overwhelming.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.  The waiting can make you CRAZY.  Please let me know your results and how you're holding up.  What part of the country are you in?  I'm in Virginia, south of Roanoke.
Breast Cancer
I know exactly how you feel. I was diagnosed with an occult breast cancer 13 years ago. I did not have a lumpectomy but I did chemo and radiation afterwards. The radiation was a breeze. I didn't find that I had any symptoms from the radiation. I wish you the best of luck. I did have prophylactic bilateral mastectomies 7 years later and for me, it was the best thing I ever did. That relieved a lot of the anxieties. Once you are done with all of the treatment and they say that you can just follow up at certain intervals you'll feel much better and relieved. Try to think about that part of it.
My children were not breast fed and
incredible stable and social. They are both straight A students and are very well-rounded. Breast milk does many things, but it doesn't make a child perfect.
What are we doing for men with breast cancer?
nm
anybody ever had a breast lipoma?(sm)
What does one feel like and what do they do about it?
Breast biopsy
What is the normal length of time time to wait on the results of a biospy for a lump in the breast.  I was given a very vague answer today about when?  Thanks!
breast reduction
I am seriously thinking of having this done because I'm so tired of aching shoulders and not being able to wear the clothes I really want to wear. I am just a big baby when it comes to going under the knife! Has anyone gone through this, was it very painful and how long is the recovery time? TIA!
breast reduction
I keep mulling over the same thing, but I am 50. I have huge grooves in my shoulders, and have had cervical disk problems, fusion and all. I wonder if that is why I have neck problems because I never had an accident or anything. I am a 36G or H if I can find it. Forget about breast-feeding my kids, I felt like I would fall over from the weight of them and couldn't wait until they went back to normal (for me anyway :) I am only 5Ɖ, slightly overweight. I think being so huge on top makes you look heavier anyway. I still think about having it done. I am sure my ins would pay for it, just so afraid of the pain and scars, but now you have me thinking again!
Breast feeding.....
I had a child via a surrogate and I breast fed her. Sometimes just suckling the baby will stimulate milk supply but it is a very long and time consuming process. Also, I used a system called Lact-Aid that uses a small bag that holds formula and has a thin tube that is near the nipple so the baby suckles both the tube for the formula and you for the stimulation to trick your body into producing milk. And yes, I did produce some although not enough for nourishment. I used the system for several weeks just for the bonding.
Won $1000 on a poker slot machine about 4 years ago...
and 2 weeks ago won $800 on another slot machine on a $20 investment on a penny machine.
I made Cinnebons with my bread machine one year.
That was the year I heard the most positive comments back. Loved them! Used disposable 8 x 8 tins and wrapped them up pretty with red and green Saran wrap.

Over the years I have gotten the plastic trays that are shaped like Santa or something like that and made cookies, fudge, made 1 of the slots mixed nuts and mints. Those also went over well, especially the families with kids.
Breast cancer posts
Only one message moved over to Gab from Main. Please get your hands on Dr. Susan Love's Breast Book, it will help. Also get other opinions. Perhaps this is on here somewhere but I know you only have today to prepare. Be strong and positive with positive vibes all around you.
Being a wet nurse and breast-feeding a 6 yo
Competely different. I have been a wet nurse. I have several children. I've been a gestational surrogate. I have NOT, however, breast feed a 6-year-old. That is disgusting.
men with breast cancer reply
Honestly I don't know, I just follow for the women, since my diagnosis last year. I'm sure there's something out there though. If not maybe you can start something up for the men... Best of luck.
As far as the breast-feeding thing sm
There are a few herbal supplements and other medications that women can take to stimulate lactation. I was on an infertility board several years ago, and there were adoptive mothers doing this. It is difficult and often does not work. There are also ways to simulate breast-feeding (special tubing connected to bottles that are situated in a way to get the infant to suckle) that can also help lactation.
