I have sold some property, not closed on but

get this- the new "owners" have gone in (I was told they wanted to spring clean and thus the realtor gave them keys to the place to do so) and stripped the carpets that were there and also dismantled and took down part of a cabinet. The closing was to take place the first of July. I called the realtor and asked when did spring cleaning turn into renovation. One person had asked about a possible early move-in as their lease ran out today. I told realtor no moving in, nothing else done until closing. No answer from him- no emails answered, nothing. I sent him 1 yesterday saying - oh, never mind, I will check on my property myself either Thursday or Friday morning, hope I don’t find squatters there- guess what folks, now he calls late yesterday evening wanting to know can we close today. Oh, the power of persuasion. Some people really have the nerve!

Sold the property, finally
Well, I guess the man was wrong for wanting me to accept the $110,000. I have sold the property today for $140,000. That is a chunk more than I can now think of ways to spend- just kidding, planning on putting new flooring in, paying off most of the home where I live and paying my bills off. Hooray!!
I've sold 125 books on half.com but most were my childrens college text books. I have sold some
t I picked up for a quarter at a thrift store. Old Dr. Seuss books do well. I price them a bit lower than the rest of the pack and put that they are from a nonsmoking home. Half.com does take a small commission but they deposit the check in your bank account monthly.
Maybe you should keep your legs closed
!!
Closed by subscriber
I don't think it does as long as you make sure they make sure on your report it says "Closed by subscriber"...or something like that.

If it looks like the CC company closed it, then it would look suspicious.

I could be wrong.
That's because your mind is closed shut
like a trap.

Typical arrogance this man accused of us - LOOK, CURIOUS minds want to investigate and TRULY understand different cultures.

Unlike you like sucking down the lies the media and your government are handing you 24/7 WITHOUT bothering to see for yourself.

Never occurred to you his DERISION of us/the questioners may have been in the least justified?

Im not defending him, but I'm also not willing to dismiss or comdemn HIM out of hand, just because the powers that be are doing so and encouring us to follow suit.

NO SHEEP HERE.
Closed-minded people..
Did you ever think that perhaps she was using birth control pills, and perhaps even condoms?? You should know that neither of these methods are 100% effective, being in this field. And she is able to take responsibility for her child because she has the finances to do so..she isn't one of these women popping out child after child and living off of the government. I wish people would get off of their high horse and stop scoffing at the girl just because she ended up pregnant at 16. Sure, it might have been a mistake for her, but I don't see why everyone should come down on her when she is obviously doing the right thing. I would hate to see your daughter get pregnant at 16. But I can hear your reply now: My daughter wouldn't be having sex at 16. Or so you think.
Thanks for all your positive help, case closed sm
I am going to close this query now. I have had many wonderful e-mails and help on the board which I can print (well, most) and make a little portfolio for him to get some ideas. His wife has been working double shifts nursing to make ends meet and he has been caring for the kids and doing all to make the holiday reasonably good for them. He's been doing all nighters on researching and the company is very impressed with all the research he's done on his new job and product and are going to travel here to meet him and work with him to get him started, Everyone is positive and anxious to make this new innovative product introduction a success. There are no coincidences and paying it forward has been our family's way of life and we are grateful to all who e-mailed and posted positive little hints to ease the transition, we are from a small rural area and am not familiar with that area. Thank God for good people in the Christmas Spirit. I've helped many on the boards throughout the years under another name and feel fully rewarded. I will continue to pay it forward myself and God bless you great people. We had a death in his wife's family over the holidays which we were unprepared for and travel arrangements, funeral plans, babysitting, eulogy, etc.had to be prepared, and you made our life so much easier and renewed our faith. I will close the subject now, it has been a lesson in life, that's for sure.! The end - Merry Christmas to those who passed on their holiday helping spirit. You helped us through a difficult time. Thanks so much to the helpers (and I made some new wonderful friends.).  God Bless!
Case closed on gifts - sm
I received the replies I needed. Thanks to those who understand. Obviously others haven't been there. Gift cards are not acceptable, it is a couple who are very different, as one of them wants "something to open" or a gift they "need" in which case it takes a trip to the store together for what turns into a high ticket item with no regard as to how much it costs. The other is appreciative of everything and anything. The answers I received reflect the personality differences I expected. It takes all kinds. I should know better.

homestead (closed in the 60's, AK was last state to allow homesteading)

Bay Bridge is closed for repair work all weekend -
so getting in or out of the city will be a total nightmare. I'm just gonna hang out at home and work on Monday, since I need the $$!

On Sunday there's a big (free!) rock concert at the polo field in Golden Gate Park, honoring the 40th anniversary of the 'Summer of Love' in S.F. in 1967. (Gad - was it THAT long ago?) Lots of the original bands will be there. (Sigh....Too bad Jerry Garcia still isn't around to take part....) So, if I can find a parking-place anywhere in the same zip-code, I may cruise on over there and hobnob with all the old hippies. Should be pretty cool.

(PS: I have a young, hippy-ish friend with a totally amazing tattoo of Jerry Garcia on one of her arms! I know SHE'LL be there for sure!)
The mansions are still here, but the Game Farm closed this spring
n
It was a nice day outside...we had the garage open but the inside door closed...
that wasn't the point of the question but thanks for your concern...
We just sold ours.
I always tent camped when younger...just loved it. When I married, hubby would not tent camp and the kids loved camping so we got a pop-up tent camper. We enjoyed it once it was up, but it was a lot of work, nearly as much as tent camping because since it folds down you cannot store much in there all the time, so there's packing involved. There is also work involved when you get home with it, opening to clean and air out and dry before folding it up again. If it's not completely dry before folding down it will mildew.

If I had a chance to do it again, I'd get a pull-behind or 5th wheel, because you can keep your camping items right in there all the time. Just toss in some food and go.

Just my opinion!
This was not on my property...
My sister-in-law and I were both picking up our kids from dance class, and my sister-in-law was picking up this girl, too. They were playing outside by the cars. She has an appointment today, so I will probably call later and see what the doctor said.

Thanks everyone!
I can understand it but it may be sold as that - sm
but may be more in line with an in-law suite. My DH and I rarely sleep together, he is either in the spare room on the couch. He snores something awful and of course won't go to a doctor (not apnea, he is underweight); he also cannot sleep without either the TV or a radio on ALL night; also has insomnia, so in order for me to sleep and not want to kill him we do not sleep together. We still get together but just don't spend the night together. Just about every elderly/older couple I know do not sleep together due to one of them snoring basically, they have the spare rooms in the house now that the kids are gone and they are using them to stay well rested.
Yeah but sold out everywhere (nm)

Whatever it is, it's because the US has repeatedly sold
My sister just returned from Hawaii. She's been to Hilo many times, but this time said she couldn't believe it - it was practically dead. Because of gas costs, many airlines, bus tours, etc. have eliminated that part of the big island. She said tourism in the state overall appears to be in a huge slump. And now our ****** Prez. says he wants to open oil drilling in Alaskan wilderness, and the US's coastal towns. Considering what future oil spills will do to future tourism in coastal towns, not to mention that we have to wean ourselves off that addiction, and that sure is short-sighted. But then again, that's the problem with the U.S. They don't see the big picture, just whatever will make the most money in the shortest amount of time, and screw the future.
The 10% was lakefront property
as in over 6 acres, not a home there but glad he is no longer around. I do not understand about who was wrong? The money taken up front from the present realtor, I was told, was put into escrow. I am catching flack from a relative who thinks I should have the money in hand. Her son does not have a realtor selling his property and when a prospective buyer backed out, he kept their earnest money. Please explain when you say he did not do right. I have been in no hurry to sell this, do not need the money in a desperate kind of way but out of town and we are having to keep the yard maintainedm do not ever plan on living there so decided to sell.
Anyone know how to become a property appraiser? (sm)

I think I would like to do this as a side job.  Can look it up online but would like to hear firsthand if anyone has info on this and whether or not it is lucrative.

Thanks!

At least you own property to pay taxes on -
I don't have my own pot to p__s in or window to throw it out of. I was totally depending on that refund to help pay down my gas credit cards.
We got married on our property...
just a little ceremony with a few friends and the pastor. We have 15 lovely acres of land and were married near the barn. Everytime we walk past that spot we stop, say I do, kiss and walk on. If we ever leave here we will take some of the dirt with us as a fine memory.
Hubby and I sold our townhouse and
bought a house with a yard for our first dog. Soon we replaced the Explorer with a minivan because it was a lower jump AND so the dogs could have AC blowers in the back. So yeah, I'm with you. But I have an hourly job now, not MT work, and DH makes decent money. Still, we're in debt, like most people. At least we bought a modest house, much less expensive than what the bank thought we COULD afford, but we know better.
Update: Just sold for $299 on Ebay
if you can get your hands on one they are selling like hotcakes!!
Another thing about the house I sold,
I had moved, rented it out and like I said above, got an interest only loan on it, had borrowed some money and that loan looked really good until the payment started creeping up and up and up and I was sweating it trying to unload (after I decided not to rent anymore) that I probably would have taken less. I am really, really glad I sold when I did. I could have had new house, old house note with the old house steadily climbing and been in as bad shape as some I read about in foreclosure.
Those hook thingies are sold on
either QVC or HSN shopping channel, see them frequently.
Fluff is still sold in PA. In my area,

we have a mixture of foods since our area is diverse ethnicities. We have all kinds of PA Dutch, Lithiuainin (sp), Italian, Irish Polish, Mexican (yes thanks to a town a little north of here that is 30% Mexican now), so there is not one particular food.

My favorites are scrapple w/vinegar and eggs,  funnel cake, Kluskie, halupkies, perogies, HOT BOLOGNA (yeah! good and spicy). Hot bologna is probably local to our area alone. How about ring bologna, which is used to make the hot bologna.

I sold Avon for 20+ years

I sold Avon for 20+ years & I loved it when I first started, I had a great number of customers which you do need and periodically would add a few more.. BUT, when I first started you could make some money at it, even living in a small rural area like I live in.. but things are so costly, the books, bags, samples, etc.. gas lately wouldn't be worth it, selling in businesses is great IF you can catch everyone there at the same time, but when I first started if you sold $1000 half was yours.. since then they have raised it (not sure what it is now), but the last I remember it was closer to $1500 before you earned 1/2.. so things keep changing, I quit after I started typing, no time & I would much rather be home..

I made money doing Avon for years, but if you were the only one in your area doing it you might do okay, but I do still order, because I have used their products for so many years, I just can't find nothing I really like better in the stores.. plus they do have great sales on things, I'll not go back to it as of now, but don't want to say never cause that is usually a for sure that you'll eat those words..

No don’t have to sell but this property is 1 big headache
We have to go every month to cut the grass (6 acreas) and I told my sweet hubby today if something happened to me, hello, he would have to fool with all that. I have no use for it but have had since 2004 now, did not make up mind to sell until about a year ago. I told the realtor just to let me know when he got other offers..
Property I am trying to sell right on the lake
and the people around there kinda sound like you and yours. That is why I am selling!
Property taxes...oh my goodnes!!

Our area and I think much of the state were being reassessed this year.  The first tip was when my husband read in the paper that our particular county did an outstanding job with their assessment and should be an example for the rest of the state.  My husband called today to see when we would could be expecting our tax bill and was told they could give us the amount, did he want them too.  He told them he really wasn't sure he wanted to hear it!!   OK - this marvelous job that our county did was -------- a 60% increase.  Can you believe it?????  And we do not live in an extravagent area at all!  We have to come up with an extra $1900 in three months!  Piece of cake!

I fear America is in for tough days ahead.  Our society in general cannot keep up with the increases that we see on every hand.  Milk - Close to $4 a gallon here.  Gas price increases - and we live 30 miles away from anything, work, church, shopping.  Cheese - $7 for a pound of cheese!

How can we continue on this pathway when our incomes do not increase at the same rate?  Can't our congress people and senators see the predicament we are in??

Another issue along the same line - I'm wishing today that I was on Welfare.  If I was on Welfare, I would have no problem running to the eye doctor because I desparately need my lenses changed in my glasses which are at least three years old.  My son needs to go to the doctor for an infected, ingrown toenail - no money so he endures it.  My daughter needs a graft on the gum line of her teeth where here gumline is beginning to expose the root of the tooth - again no money for that so it won't get done.  I could go on and on - but I'm paying for all the Welfare people to go to the doctor for their sniffles.  Yes - I have insurance that we would be covered for a major medical expense, cancer, etc - but there is $3000 deductible so none of these smaller things are covered.

OK - I'm totally overwhelmed with these issues right now and I know that I am not the only one with these issues.  Thanks for the listening ear and the wonderful sounding board that you all are!!!

When you are sinking in this deep pit - it hard to remember and to comprehend that "MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEEDS ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY."  I'm sure He will do that because He never fails.  I'm anxious to see how he supplies that need.

My property tax rate stays low
because there are so many mansions in my town. There is a house on the market right now for $23 million, plus lots of others in the 5-10 million dollar range. What is really sickening is that these are second or even third homes for some people. But they are paying such high taxes, it really takes the burden off us little guys who live way, way, way on the other side of the tracks.
If the injury occurred on your property... sm

...and you have homeowner's insurance, it should cover any injuries that occur on your property.

However, it is unlikely that the amount the ER charged would meet your deductible unless you have it set extremely low.

It was very nice of you to offer to help. Since the girl had surgery on that finger, she obviously should have had some kind of brace or cast or something to remind her not to use that finger while playing - just so that something like this would not happen.

20/20 hindsight, huh?

Tell you father to sell the property...
buy something decent and let you stay there for free.
Until everything is settled, move in with your father.
You are definitely living in danger.
How, for heaven's sake, can your father hire sex offenders to work in your house?

Animals being sold in hardware stores. SM

While driving through Miami, FL, I noticed several hardware stores with large signs stating they sold both hardware and animals.   My DH knows who handles the accounts of those stores (he sells hardware wholesale) and they said, yes, the stores carry animals for santeria rituals such as chickens, roosters and rabbits.

I'm all for freedom of religion, but draw the line at using live creatures.  I'm not a big animals right advocate, although I love animals, but I feel like notifying PETA about this. Or somebody about this.

Any suggestions?

I have bought and sold on Craigslist, it's great.

It is sold, like I stated, to recoup not only my money
but also to pay what the court costs are. I had cash that day and only put $40.00 on my credit card. Doesn’t matter because I have my receipt and have the backing of the court. I tell you, I am not the only person this store has tried to skim-scam because another person in court with same 1. They have 4 big stores and guess what? I am not heading out to "do my shopping" and that is I am going with my sunglasses to choose which pieces I want to take this Tuesday (if no money forthcoming). It has been over a year so I do not think they would remember my 1 time in their store. This place now owes me over $700.00!! After this I plan on calling better business bureau and logging complaint against them also.
Just recently sold a ticket on Stubhub
I am seasoned ticket holder for the Fox Theater in Atlanta's Theater Under the Stars and one of the shows was Stomp. I sure did not want to see that so I sold a 2nd row seat from the stage that sold for $46.00 for $25.00. Not trying to make a profit, just did not want to use it.

My 14-yo daughter sold her first original design
for a snowboard decal this weekend. She is quite the little artist and a friend of her brother's came up to look through her portfolio.

Not only did he buy the design he wants to use for his snowboard, he told her he would like to put her in touch with a friend of his, a tattoo artist, who may be interested in some of her other work too.

This could be her toe in the door. She would love to do design and sell her own graphic T-shirts.

I am close to retirement age and got property taxes
just a few days ago, about $2,250.00- I called and asked if I got anything off when I reached another age, say 70 or so and was told in 2009 I will have reached the golden age of 65 and my taxes would be only about $800.00 per year! Good Golly Miss Molly, talk about good news! The school tax break comes through then for me. There are some good things that come with aging and this is one!
That sounds strange, cars in with property but
now much do you have to pay?

to call the police on him or order him off his own property, he has every legal right to be there, except for being a total nut case. I hope he wakes up and gets help, but I do not see any of this ending well.
