It does speak to his character.........
Others can try to sugar coat it or find excuses, but it does speak to his character and what he deems important. Did your daughter speak up and say anything to him about this or did she just sit idly by? I have had the same situation and it does speak volumes for both.
The actor is gay, the character is not. N/M

Soooo cute! I have a lab/great dane mix... scary to some 'cause he is so big. But he is a big wus

Are those mini-pins!  A while ago I was running with Walter (my dog)  and we came across a lady with 2 mini-pins.  Walter wants to meet everyone and the lady said they were friendly so we let them sniff, but all of a sudden they were all over Walter with little tiny flashing teeth.  Walter yiped like a little baby and skulked away and the lady said "oh my they never do that."  Why do they always say that, like it is my big dog's fault?

Well anyway, just this weekend I saw the mini pins in her car at the market when by coincidence I parked next to it.  When I opened my door they were up on the dash and leaping at the crack in the window and snarling and barking at me.  I know they could not get to me but I cringed and hustled away.  They looked really scary!  I swear I felt like they could jump up on me and grab on something like my ears or something and not let go.

But I am sure they are sweet... NOT!  But it goes to show you never know... they are all animals, after all.  And like people all have very distinct personalities, very much formed by their family (the people family, I mean).  I could tell the owner of the mini pins was kind of a ---- well you know, not that nice... she left them in the hot car, after all... and they were pretty much a product of their upbringing.

I too actually think pits have some of the sweetest dispositions I have ever met in a dog.

and Lily's character was EARNESTINE....nm

didn't he do that character well? A great performance indeed! NM

Sometimes it freaks me out. I'm a runner and take Walter the lab for (sm)
a pretty long haul every single morning.  Roll out of bed, feet in sneakers, quick coffee, grab Ipod and leash him up and off we go.  Except for this week it started to rain so I skipped the early run, let him out for a while and then started work early.  When I look over at him he has taken my running shoes from beside the bed and is napping with them pillowed under his head by my desk.  I imagine he actually sat there with the shoes looking at me for a while and fell asleep.  I realized how much he loved the runs and the routine and he was very disappointed that day.  So we'll continue our runs rain or shine.  I can handle a little discomfort for my best bud.
GREATpost-reminded me of Kathy Bates' character
Re-watch Kathy Bates' character in Fried Green Tomatoes and see how she evolves around a similar type of husband......
Cedric

Congratulations Misha!.....I know Tuesday can't come soon enough for you.  Cedric (as in the Entertainer) sounds good.  Practice screaming it out the back door and see if you like the way it sounds coming outta your mouth....I've told this to all my friends who were trying to name children (whether they be human kids or furkids).  You might have to look him in the eyes first to discern what his name should be.

You mentioned cats being royalty and stretching out 3 times their length....Napster gets up on the back of the couch and straddles it and hangs his head over the edge....looks like a cat skin rug.....as if he's boneless.

As for getting lost, go on Google and type in Mapquest.....you can get directions from your front door the pickup destination and print them out.   I can't wait to hear the update!

Cedric is here!
When we drove up to the shelter 2 towns away from us, there were firetrucks there. All the workers were outside. They told us they were closed and my jaw dropped. Then they found out we were there from rescue to pick up the Siberian, and they rushed back in to get the paperwork. Cedric and Sasha checked each other out, and she allowed him to rest his nose on her shoulder without upset.

Cedric rode well in the car, even though the worker who loaded him in said he was not a fan of crates and that's where he rode. He is thin and has a chronic ear infection, but they say no hearing loss, so hopefully with treatment and good food it will clear up. He is thin. His coat is fairly short; I can't tell if he was shaved at one time or what. His mouth is soft and gentle as he takes treats from your hand; it feels like a nice horse mouthing your hand! He was not disturbed by the vacuum cleaner, and he is making good friends with DH.

Must go put some Frontline on the boy now. More news later.
I guess Walter is pretty passive compared to your guy! Gets you going though, doesn't it? nm

Everyone, say hello to Misha's new boy, Cedric!
Oh don't you just wanna plant a huge kiss that little head?!  Congratulations Misha!
Welcome Cedric - Yipee

What a fun day... even the hard parts are fun when you have the love of a sweet puppy. (yeah they are all puppies..)..

Cedric's first trip to the dog park
We had no idea how Cedric would do at the dog park, but his play with Sasha in our own backyard has been quite boisterous, and I wanted him to try playing with younger dogs. We brought him in and all he wanted to do was smell the fragrances around the gate. He looked alarmed to see other dogs roaming around. We could not coax him away from the gate, and finally DH leashed him up and walked him all around the inside perimeter and ended up on the far side. At this point he started cautiously sniffing actual dogs, and before long he was willing to romp a little as long as it was just one dog at a time. He did a little running and was having a great time, even when just watching a big pack of dogs running. You could see how he was learning all about interacting with dogs and playing with balls. At the very end it occurred to him there were also people to meet, but it was getting dark and Sasha wanted to walk the park path, so we did that. Cedric liked that too, but at first when he saw the tennis players whacking stuff with rackets, it confused him.

Then we got some food and gave the dogs their tiny bites, which is always a treat for them.

When we got home, Cedric climbed all over DH to show his appreciation, and today he has been lying at his feet. Plus, he has a new appreciation for a tennis ball we have, and when he got up on the couch with me, he chewed on that instead of me.

A very good activity for Cedric.
his head is over the door. People double-take, point, and laugh. Everybody loves big sweet Walter. n

Sounds like Cedric is in a loving foster home!
Where do you live - that path looks gorgeous!
Why would you want to kick someone

I'm not a Christian, either, but I think everyone has a right to their own beliefs, and if they find comfort in their religion, I say more power to them.

I don't think anybody is saying that money is going to rain down from the sky, or any such nonsense. But most of life is colored by our attitude - and if praying helps someone, if it gives them comfort and helps them to have a more positive attitude, then it is a good thing.

Live and let live. Don't condemn, embrace. As long as someone's belief doesn't hurt anyone else, then they can believe in little green men or a flat earth or fairies for all I care.

The one thing I do know is that this world would be a better place if we show love, kindness, and tolerance toward each other, not hate and bigotry.

I don't get it either. I would kick him out and take him for everything he had.

Thanks!! I got a kick out of it :)

My medicare will kick in before
hubbys, born in the 40s mine starts at age 67. He does not get Medicare when I do, only if he were retired and/or health issues were such that he was unable to work. If you go on dialysis no matter the age, you automatically are put on Medicare but just because a husband retires or vice versa does not benefit the other spouse.
I'd kick him out. I would not enable him to keep doing what he is doing
and getting by with it.  Call Al-Anon to help yourself.  Tell him to get help from a recovering alcoholic.
kick those deadbeats out

I say expel the kids who do that. Kick them out!
I'm tired of rude, obnoxious behaviors without consequence.

I purposely choose no tolerance for that kind of behavior.

When they get tossed out, they'll receive absolutely no help from me, either. None.

I think personally if you are expelled from school or do not graduate, you should never, EVER be allowed to live on any type of welfare. EVER.

Wow, can you come kick my husband in the booty, too? LOL
I'd like him to get busy around here; sounds like I need to be more like you!
I get a kick out of the "Easy button" ones (sm)
just saw one where electronic stuff is landing everywhere, a laptop on the holiday table, a GPS hitting a guy in the head while he's hanging lights outside, etc. and it turns out to be a baby just playing, smacking the Easy button over and over. Makes you stop and watch, and funny the first time, anyway!
Would you ever kick your kids out of your home?

Are your kids welcome to stay in your home for as long as they like?

My 15 year old asked if we'd ever kick him out or his older brother. I said they'd always have a home with us as long as they follow our rules.

First off, he CANNOT just kick you out of the house. It does not matter

if your name is on the deed or not, it is marital property, you both own it.  So tell him to take a flying leap that you're not leaving.  If he tries to physically remove you from the house, you call the police and tell them he assaulted you.  You go to the county courthouse and swear out an ex parte emergency order of protection at which time they will issue a temporary restraining order for 15 days and schedule an adult abuse hearing.  During the 15 days, he cannot come near you and HE will have to leave the house.  At the adult abuse hearing, you will tell the judge if you want to proceed with the restraining order and if you do, they will schedule another hearing and extending the emergency order of protection until the next court date and so on.  Eventually, the judge will hear the case and make the temporary order permanent.

In the meantime, you should contact legal aid for legal advice and an attorney.  I would also do as the poster below suggested which is start to get together important paperwork, possessions, etc. and stash them at a friend's place.  Do not get a storage facility or rent anything that will leave a paper trail back to you.  I would also empty out any and all joint accounts and open an account in your name only at another bank, change your direct deposit through work if you have it going into a joint account.

I know everything above sounds very calculated and cold, but it's cover your butt time.  Men can be cruel and you have to worry about you and your kids (if you have any).  I've been through an ugly divorce and I functioned during my divorce with the full knowledge that every single move I made was to protect and provide for my kids and myself.  Every move my ex made was for himself and himself only.

I wish you the best of luck.  Be strong and be smart!

How can I kick him out? I have told him to leave many times (sm)
he won't go. He tells me to leave. I have children. If you know how to go about making him leave, I really would like info on how to do it and enforce it. Thanks
stop supporting the a-hole and kick him to the curb.

I wish they'd kick Tatiana off and bring Rose back! NM

I got my dog Walter at a boxer rescue and he looked like a boxer pup but I quickly discovered (sm)

He was either a mutant boxer or not even part of the litter I picked him from.  He had the jowly muzzle all the pups had, but he was huge.  He seemed to be the same age as the rest of the litter, you could tell by the eyes and the teeth, but he was kind of like the big clutz of the group.  But oh so cute.  He turned out to be huge and like a lab/great dane mix.  He has the short fur of a boxer and the big chest, and I now think he either was an orphan puppy who got put in with the litter or mom had another mate.  Either way, I am so happy he is the one I chose, he is such an interesting character and a really stunning and majestic dog.  Still a clutz though, he falls down over himself on the beach and stairs.  And he is so tall he prefers to sit on top of the stairs on the deck with his front paws a couple steps down.  But I've always had rescue dogs and they are so special.

Walter, I posted below.  I am thinking now they either put him in with the litter

Hey - Congrats!

First of all, congrats! (sm)
Yes, the tiredness can be very overwhelming. I would take this as a very good sign. I couldn't believe how tired I was the first trimester in both my pregnancies. Could fall asleep sitting up! Your body is doing a tremendous amount of work making that little baby. You'll feel better in the second trimester, and then tired again the last trimester. Though for me, I didn't feel like I was as tired in the 3rd as I was in the first, but everyone is different. Best wishes to you and your growing family!
Congrats to you and her.....
Nursing school is a lot of hard work!! Lots of nurses in my family (I am also a medical assistant). Just a little secret...when I cannot do my work, the nurses in my family help with my transcription. ;)

Anyway...congrats to her, congrats to you for being such a great mentor and for being such a great "helper" when she needed it! :)
Congrats!
I know the Atkins diet has worked for a lot of people. I know one in particular who has actually done it several times, only to gain the weight back and more, but I think the key is to probably transition into a Zone-type of diet after you are done with Atkins to keep your results. Best of luck to you!
Congrats!!!!

Congrats to the SOX, they got
the job done. Still wish it would have been the Indians though :-)
Congrats!

Congrats to you :-) sm
I love my Rays. Been going to games (live 2 hours away) and watching them for 6 years now. I'm just so thrilled we got this far. It was such a treat.

But what really bothered me were statements from the media like, 'the series no one is watching, but no one will forget.' Pegging this series as 'not a sexy World Series.'

It's ironic that now that there is drug testing (so no steroids) that the 2 teams who made it, one of which hasn't won since 1980 and the other who has been in the cellar since it's inception in 1997, are deemed dull and a boring series...

I'm not sure about the Phillies, but the Rays were one of the only teams who had no players on the 'steroid list' last year.

I'm insulted as an avid baseball fan and as a Rays fan that the sports media continually poo-poo'ed this series. So... the only way a WS is good is if we watch pumped up steroid playera and/or players who make an obscene amount of money (one NY Yankee player equals the entire roster of the Rays).

I watch my Rays every day they're on TV or when I'm able to get to the games in person (love the Trop and the catwalks LOL), and I've watched every playoff and WS for as long as I can remember, no matter who was in it. I just pick a team and have fun.

I'm happy for the Phillies. It was a good, clean series and their manager has a lot of class. I'm sad we didn't win. Next year seems so far away, but I really had a great ride this year.

Again, congrats to you!!
Wow - Congrats!
That's awesome you lost all that weight!
Thank you both and congrats on the
weight loss.  Several years ago I lost 27 pounds and felt like a new person.  I have gained it back and more and need to get serious about weight loss for my health.  I have new clothes with the tags still on that I want to wear.  Thanks again to you both.  Wish me luck!
Hey, congrats! sm

Sober for 20 years, can you start a gab fest on how to do that successfully? You are the best! Just leave the rest! I can't swim either and I don't give a rat's pittouty!

Love this thread. What you don't know about me is I am claustrophobic, hate to fly and hate elevators and closed places. It prevents me from living my life as it should be!

Congrats.....
on being smoke free for 18 days! My boyfriend started the patch 2 weeks ago today. I think in that 2 weeks, he has had a total of 2 cigarettes (just taking a puff or 2 here and there, not a whole one at once). I started the patch 1 week ago and have had a total of 3 cigarettes(same thing, puff or 2 here and there, not a whole one at once). I only had a craving once that was really bad. Other than that, it's more the habit, type a long report and go smoke, eat and go smoke. lol I had him buy me an ab roller last night at Walmart and am gonna use that to hopefully help break the habit and maybe tone up my gut. LOL

By the way, cigarettes went up again here. My brother had to stop and pick up a pack for his MIL. Cost him $6.77!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous.
