accoring to Merriam-Webster
pestering is to harrass with petty irritations. Pest is
ONE that pesters and annoys.

Not the same thing.

She was grabbing pens out of my 5 yo hands, grabbing her papers and making her mess up, that to me is pestering.
NOW, if I were to have said "She is a pest" that would be labeling her and that would be wrong. She is certainly not in anyway a pest. Maybe there is a better word out there for it?
