I don't get dressed up or anything...maybe taking a shower before you start working would make you feel better...I can't work if I feel dirty--lol

comfy clothes

For me it's cotton pajama pants and my oversized Big Dog T shirts and slippers.  If I'm planning on going out and running errands or if I'm working at my itty bitty outside job that day then I dress in "real people" clothes, but if I have a long day of sitting and typing ahead of me, comfort is the key.

I live alone.  I might be more inclined to pretty myself up if I had hubby coming home at the end of the day, but my cats don't care what I look like as long as the food bowl stays filled.

I'm just curious. Do you wear makeup. I use makeup
to enhance what God gave me. Just curious.
i wear those at home, they are so comfy
but I worry about the lines under my shirts when I go out in public. Maybe I just got the ones with too much material or something.
Do your dogs wear clothes?

little doggie sweaters or hats or boots?

mine don't. I had a dog once that I tried to put a sweater on but I lost.

Wear your clothes more than once before washing or
I wear jeans, khakis, and dress shirts at least 2 or 3 times before I wash them. They key with dress shirts is wearing an undershirt. Some of you may think it’s gross, but your clothes will not fade as quickly and you’ll spend less on detergent and dry-cleaning bills.

Can You Wear Cheap Clothes?

and they look good on you?

I was just thinking about my deceased mother and she sometimes would say about someone "I wish I could wear cheap clothes like her!"
Ironically - one of the best fitting/looking blazers my mom ever bought was from Walmat and was on a clearance rack for $7.99. (orig price wasn't all that much higher)

It sounds like a catty insult/put down, but my sister says it too about her friend, and it's not said with any kind of malice - she just wishes she could buy cheaper clothing that fits well and looks good too and save the money.

Better start with the clothing they wear
or lack of. After that all downhill.
lol...those are my work clothes too...
nm
favorite work clothes
My SpongeBob PJ pants or soft flannel PJ pants and a T-shirt (or sweat pants if I feel like getting "dressed").
Favorite clothes for work
Sleep pants or sweat pants and a sweatshirt in the winter and light weight sleep pants, shorts and a t-shirt in the summer.
And buy kitty nice work out clothes as incentive.
x
Never, ever wear PJs to work in, yuck!
Always shower before starting, clean clothes every day, the deodorant, freshly brushed teeth, sometimes lightener under my eyes (tend to have dark circles). My favorite pants are stretchy black jeans by Gloria Vanderbilt, they fit me to a T and wear those in capris in summer and the long jeans in winter. I try to change up my blouses because I tend to get bored with the same. My footwear mostly sandals all year around, Memphisto or Bergies, thongs but i have to transcript with the right sandal off, of course.
oops - baby shower - wrong shower!
Sorry, tired eyes here. The thank you notes envelopes might stand and you could make a puzzle with baby words.
Baby shower gift or shower

Anyone have some creative or unique baby shower gift ideas or shower ideas?  or what is something that you couldn't live without when you had your baby.

I have heard of giving a book instead of a card and signing the book.  Also heard of wrapping the present in a blanket or crib sheet instead of spending money on paper to throw away.  I have heard of charging an "admission fee" of a package or diapers or 1 package of diapers buys a raffle ticket for a prize.

I wouldn't be comfy without.
Need my feeling of security. Even under pajamas.
I'm not the guru of all things comfy, but...
A nice soft blanket, magazines of her favorite activity (or just trash mags for a good laugh), tea/cookies, warm slippers, nice lotion, your phone number to have her call you anytime she has a whim, and an IOU to take her out to do something fun when feeling better!
Scrubs! They're comfy and CHEAP. nm

For those people with school aged children when do vacations start to dwindle and you start getting
ready for school.  I usually take a vacation when things slow down at the end of Summer and I am just wondering when in August most people start getting into school things and less vacations are taken.
In MHO when they start asking its time to start explaining.
My daughter and I started discussing the basics in like second or third grade.

Good luck it was much harder for me with my son.
This is me and my makeup
No mtter how much money I have or have had, I always feel like I am almost in the soup line. I have worked since I was in high school. I never wanted to be on welfare and I guess this accounts for my work ethics. If I were to win a lottery now I doubt that I could give my job up - lot of people do not understand this but this is just how I feel. I always have the mentality of not having enough money although realistically this is not the case- just my feelings. I would think it is sorta like how an anorexic person is- they are skin and bones yet think they are fat? I have enough money but since in school just think I need to always work and make more.
Prescriptives makeup
Does anyone use this makeup?  If so, what is your opinion?  Thanks!
He has darkened them with makeup
that's why they look so odd.
mineral makeup
Just wanted those of you who were interested awhile ago (back in early November??) that Mary Kay's new line of mineral make-up foundation is now available!!!  I tried it and it is GREAT!!
The older you are, the lighter the makeup. SM
That Bare Ecentials brand is good. Looks natural, but covers flaws.

I'm using Sally Hansen Spray Makeup. Use a moisturizer first, then spray makeup on sponge. Cover with some light powder and some blush. Really light eyeshadows, since I have circles around eyes. If needed, some eyeliner (not black) and mascara.

Pre-teens and makeup question. sm
My DD just turned 13 and I have agreed to allow her to wear basic makeup now.  However, she is not applying it appropriately to where I think it looks decent.  I am not a big makeup person and all the teens are into this glitter stuff at that.  I would like to take her somewhere to really teach her how to apply makeup, select her colors, etc.  Does anyone know of a place that does this type of thing and any good recommendations that would help?
Of course it is!!! Makeup is for helping people
nm
What the women wear or don't wear is not the
issue here. They can wear what they want. The issue is what is actually going on in the compound and the laws that are being broken.
Ladies, how did you learn to apply makeup?
How have you changed the way you wear makeup as you have aged? What do you wear and tell me how you apply it? I've never worn makeup except for awhile in high school and I'm thinking that I'm needing some color in my face now that I've aged (what a horrid word that is!!). The thing is, I know NOTHING about it. Tell me everything I need to know so I won't end up looking like a clown!! PLEASE.
I just ordered Bare Minerals makeup.
I've got very uneven skin tones, red blotches, etc. and hope this will help.  The money back guarantee sounded good.  I see Cover Girl, Maybelline and others are now using the same concept.  Any info, thoughts or suggestions?  TIA
I use the Virtual Matte Oil Control makeup. It's kind

of expensive, but I don't get a rash or any breakouts using it. It's about 30 bucks.

I just have to brag on this mineral makeup stuff. I bought some from sm

Ulta a few weeks ago - it's the Ulta Brand - cheaper than Bare Minerals. It was around 35.00 for the kit. I think it's called Pure. I got blush medium. LOVE IT!

Right now you can try for free Purity Mineral Science for 7.95 shipping. You get 3 brushes, a gorgeous little bag and 3 products that go together and 3 cosmetic brushes - 2 big ones, 1 small one for concealing.

I ordered it Fri and it came today.  Anyways, of course I LOVE IT.  But on the piece of paper it stated in small letters: If you decide to keep this kit we will bill you 59.00 and then every 2 months you will receive another set of makeup at a low, low cost of 29.99 every 2 months.  Which is an automatic refill kind of thing. I've never done that and I don't like that,so I called to cancel my trial and to see how much it would cost to keep this lovely kit.  She said 35.00 allows me to keep the kit and cancel all future memberships, no charges, etc. I am THRILLED!

I have to tell you - I immediately put the makeup on when I got it at 1:00 EST. It is now 4:56 and I still look fresh as ever! I can't believe it. I LOVE it.  I love, love, love it.

I have been a Mary Kay user for about 14 years. I love the coverage MK gives, and this gives awesome coverage too!

anyways, husband just called rip roaring mad while I was typing this and he really piss** me off, so I will end this "nice" conversation I was having with ya'll.  Just go try some if you've ever been wondering about this stuff.

Makeup question - mascara for sensitive eyes

I don't wear makeup every day, but I do on the rare occasion that I go out.  It seems like my mascara has been really irritating my eyes lately when I wear it.  I've tried a couple different brands, but they all seem to do it.  My eyes get dry and itchy and I've been getting little annoying styes.  Can anyone with sensitive eyes or contacts recommend a mascara that doesn't irritate your eyes?  Thanks!!

I like Bare Minerals makeup and Arbonne skin care
I don't like to look like I have makeup on and the Bare Minerals helps me accomplish that. The Arbonne skin care is pricey, but to me well worth it - I took a year break from it and went back! I absolutely love the Sephora website!
Nordstrom.com sells BE Makeup and has faster shipping/ better customer service. ;-) nm
:-)
Good nite! Kelly Pickler equals big boob job, too much makeup, whacked off hair!

Cat in clothes
I would love to see a photo of that!  I love kitties.  I have a big fat fluffy one of my own, but she is not one to be dressed up.
clothes - fun
I know how you feel! I start inhouse training for 3 months in a week and have one (1) acceptible outfit to wear! Having been MTing at home for so many years I am down to grungies and caftans...so I'm joining you in a shopping splurge, only I do not have a gift card :(

Best wishes for having a great time in the higher-learning institution. You're going to be sooo smart!
Aw, I really like to try clothes on.
I hate to return stuff.
I can never get clothes to fit, either.

I buy petite for my 5' 3" frame, but both the arm and leg lengths are still too long. I have to roll the elastic waist over 1 or 2 times or else the waist band is touching my bra.

As for the arm length, it does come in handy when it's cold out. Just pull the sleeves over my hands. No need for gloves. LOL

My father was 6 feet tall but my mom was only 5 feet tall and weighed a whopping 96 pounds. She would wear petite small and still had to hem her slacks. I always wanted to be 5 feet 7 inches when in high school, but my wish wasn't granted.

My 14 yo wants clothes but..
I don't dare pick them out myself because she would hate them.  She goes shopping (with her older sister) at the mall and puts clothes on hold and several different stores.  I go later in the day, with her list of stores, and pick out what I like best, wrap them and put them under the tree. She gets what she really wants, but doesn't  know exactly what she is getting. Works well for us.
shower...(OP)

Thanks y'all for all the great replies...apparently I am not alone in my feelings here!

Anyway, as I mentioned, this is my DH's family...the ultimate shower-givers.  They give a shower for every baby (in my family, it's 1st baby only...unless--like mine--they're 8 years apart), every wedding, new home purchase...anything you can think of.  BUT...the kicker is...if I don't show up to this thing, next year when my DD graduates and I have her grad party, they WON'T show up...that's just the way they are. So, I'm thinking of taking a "vacation" that weekend and just mailing a card with my "greenbacks"---BTW, love the fake money idea---after all, that's all she really wants, right?

Ah, families---aren't they just WONDERFUL---

teen clothes

For boys (my younest son is almost 16) - American eagle is hugely popular around here.  My son also likes Abercrombie but they are so ridiculously expensive.  Dockers shorts - lots of good shorts at Kohl's if you have one near you.  Also if he has a favorite band/bands - order some of their graphic T shirts online, let him express his personality.  Kids that age love those kind of T shirts.

School clothes
Since I'm returning to school next week, I went to Kohl's to use a gift certificate I've had since Christmas. My excuse for buying clothes is that I'm going to be a college girl now, and school means clothes shopping, right?

I'm down to a size 10, and many things actually looked nice. Of course I was trying to follow suggestions from "What Not To Wear," which is a show that does give good guidelines. I even found a nice looking pair of jeans. One shirt I put on was adorable ... but more appropriate for a 20-something than a 40-something. It's hard to say exactly why, maybe the puffy sleeves. But I splurged and got 10 pieces, so that was really fun. Poor DH had to break out the charge card, but hey, at least it was Kohl's, where you get a lot for your money. Plus we had the gift card.

I feel better now that I have my shopping fix.
just trying on clothes in the store -- you can get it

The nurse at our health dept said the bug lives many many days on objects - even clothing.

And yes, you can, if you have a reduced immune system, or even just a little scratch or something -- you can catch MRSA from someone who had a sore who tried on the clothing before you.

You can try on a pair of slacks and if you have a skin opening, you are set to get it.

So many people who come in where I work, think they have a pimple and so many are in the gluteal, buttocks region -- never in the mucosal part of the vaginal/labia area -- have never seen the bug go there interestingly enough -- but in the crease of the buttocks or even on the buttocks......or on the legs, arms, even the face.

People think they have pimple or a bug bite.

And they spread it through a family by sharing towels etc

Clothes lines
We have fixed our own dryer half a dozen times, so we have a back up clothes line. One is in the house and one on the back porch. Unmentionables stay in the house. Wait for the reaction when they use that first scratchy towel for real snobbery!
Yeah, I have to run out and get the clothes - sm
off if he is cutting the grass, or if they are still wet I tell him he has to wait and do it later or the next day. My other problem is the dogs, my lab loves to rub herself through the clothes hanging low enough, usually the towels, yuk.
I have seen clothes that were like size....sm
20-something. I thought any store that carries plus sizes would carry up to very large sizes. At least that is what I thought. Maybe I am wrong.

Shower curtain or not?
I have a bathroom that goes off my office and really not used but having a dinner later on and I do not have a shower curtain here. I had the bathroom painted and did not want to get a rod that would have to be on the painted part as afraid it would pull my paint off if removed. The shower/tub is a wrap around and being as I do not have another shower curtain in the house (enclosed showers) wondering if anyone can tell me, does the rod fit on the shower part or would it fit outside, that being on the painted part. I hope this makes sense. Any suggestions?
Wedding shower...
My niece is getting married in August and is having a shower in July.  Long story short, they live together, have been for a looonnnggg time now.  On the invite, it says "Money preferred" with a bunch of $$$ around it.  They're calling it a "greenback shower"...Is it just me, or is this totally disgusting and greedy? Makes me not wanna go.  Also, I am not even sure how much to give.  We never see them, only at family functions (DH's family.....)...anyway, is it just me that feels this way?
wedding shower
I agree. I think they have a lot of nerve expecting guests to "finance" their life together. Are they getting married after so long just to make some bucks? Or are you supposed to help offset the cost of this wedding? Are they registered? I'd give her a gift (if that's what you'd prefer). If you feel you have to give money, I'd probably stay in the $25.00 range or whatever you feel comfortable giving. Of course, you could always make an excuse and not go. After all, they'll probably want money as a wedding gift also!
