Macys has nice slection of clothes 14+.

Since I'm not average sized, it's hard for me to find really nice fitting clothes.
But I do know how to sew, just haven't done it for a long time. I have stacks of really lovely fabrics, from wools to silks in my attic. Lots of it is inherited stuff that is now vintage. I have a serger and a good machine, and lots of beautiful classic patterns. I did make a nice wrap dress for the holidays, so I've been inspired to do more. What I'd like to do is find a really good used dress form somewhere... maybe ebay. It's so much easier to tailor the fit if I can stand next to a dress form, exactly my size, and adjust the pattern and seam lines. You can't do that while you are wearing an incomplete garment with pins in it! It's like trying to cut the back of your hair for yourself.
Thanks, what a nice kitty!

lol...those are my work clothes too...

favorite work clothes
My SpongeBob PJ pants or soft flannel PJ pants and a T-shirt (or sweat pants if I feel like getting "dressed").
Favorite clothes for work
Sleep pants or sweat pants and a sweatshirt in the winter and light weight sleep pants, shorts and a t-shirt in the summer.
Can anyone suggest a nice name for a new male Maine Coon kitty?

He will actually be my 5th Maine Coon cat.  I am getting him somewhat suddenly because someone else decided to wait for the exact color they wanted.  I am fine with the way he looks - silver and white mackrel.  What is a nice manly name for a cat?  All ideas welcome.  You all can always come up with something terrific!

I take a shower before I start work and put on makeup but just wear comfy clothes...
I don't get dressed up or anything...maybe taking a shower before you start working would make you feel better...I can't work if I feel dirty--lol
That wouldn't work - we are nice to him and say hello
But I do believe he has some psychological issues. He won't look at you when you talk to him and he won't talk to you. We've said hello here and there but there's just nothing there. Also, we see what he is like with his parents and his friends and he is someone I have no interest in saying anything more than hello. He is a bully, but he also is what I would term a gang member (minus the tattoos). Started in with the "lingo" and makes threats against other people who try and say anything to him (even when they are really nice).
Sorry you couldn't follow me. I have work to finish up. Have a nice day. nm

did anyone ever get the tax incentive ??
or whatever it was called...we filed early, electronically and were on the list put out as in the first group to receive it, and still have not -- ??
tax incentive
If you used Turbo Tax (as I did) or any other tax software that required a fee to be taken out of your return in order to receive your refund, then you will not get your money via electronic deposit, and you won't get it when you thought you would. It will be a check via snail mail and probably will come in late June. I had the same problem and just got an email from Turbo Tax a few weeks ago to let me know that I would not be getting my extra tax stimulus check as soon as I thought I would. Not cool huh!!
that will give me incentive on bad nights (sm)
I use mine every night, too, and it's made a world of difference, but sometimes it gets really old wearing it. Remembering such tragic stories is certainly motivation enough for me. My sympathies to you and your brother's family; that's too young to die.
As part of an incentive program- sm
I get 12 cpl, but only after 1500 lines in one day, 11 cpl after 1000 lines. Believe me, it's incentive. It really starts to add up, but the best I've ever done is about 1980 lines in one day, once, a couple years ago. This week my goal is 1800, but it's turning out more like 1600.
Cat in clothes
I would love to see a photo of that!  I love kitties.  I have a big fat fluffy one of my own, but she is not one to be dressed up.
clothes - fun
I know how you feel! I start inhouse training for 3 months in a week and have one (1) acceptible outfit to wear! Having been MTing at home for so many years I am down to grungies and caftans...so I'm joining you in a shopping splurge, only I do not have a gift card :(

Best wishes for having a great time in the higher-learning institution. You're going to be sooo smart!
Aw, I really like to try clothes on.
I hate to return stuff.
I can never get clothes to fit, either.

I buy petite for my 5' 3" frame, but both the arm and leg lengths are still too long. I have to roll the elastic waist over 1 or 2 times or else the waist band is touching my bra.

As for the arm length, it does come in handy when it's cold out. Just pull the sleeves over my hands. No need for gloves. LOL

My father was 6 feet tall but my mom was only 5 feet tall and weighed a whopping 96 pounds. She would wear petite small and still had to hem her slacks. I always wanted to be 5 feet 7 inches when in high school, but my wish wasn't granted.

My 14 yo wants clothes but..
I don't dare pick them out myself because she would hate them.  She goes shopping (with her older sister) at the mall and puts clothes on hold and several different stores.  I go later in the day, with her list of stores, and pick out what I like best, wrap them and put them under the tree. She gets what she really wants, but doesn't  know exactly what she is getting. Works well for us.
teen clothes

For boys (my younest son is almost 16) - American eagle is hugely popular around here.  My son also likes Abercrombie but they are so ridiculously expensive.  Dockers shorts - lots of good shorts at Kohl's if you have one near you.  Also if he has a favorite band/bands - order some of their graphic T shirts online, let him express his personality.  Kids that age love those kind of T shirts.

School clothes
Since I'm returning to school next week, I went to Kohl's to use a gift certificate I've had since Christmas. My excuse for buying clothes is that I'm going to be a college girl now, and school means clothes shopping, right?

I'm down to a size 10, and many things actually looked nice. Of course I was trying to follow suggestions from "What Not To Wear," which is a show that does give good guidelines. I even found a nice looking pair of jeans. One shirt I put on was adorable ... but more appropriate for a 20-something than a 40-something. It's hard to say exactly why, maybe the puffy sleeves. But I splurged and got 10 pieces, so that was really fun. Poor DH had to break out the charge card, but hey, at least it was Kohl's, where you get a lot for your money. Plus we had the gift card.

I feel better now that I have my shopping fix.
just trying on clothes in the store -- you can get it

The nurse at our health dept said the bug lives many many days on objects - even clothing.

And yes, you can, if you have a reduced immune system, or even just a little scratch or something -- you can catch MRSA from someone who had a sore who tried on the clothing before you.

You can try on a pair of slacks and if you have a skin opening, you are set to get it.

So many people who come in where I work, think they have a pimple and so many are in the gluteal, buttocks region -- never in the mucosal part of the vaginal/labia area -- have never seen the bug go there interestingly enough -- but in the crease of the buttocks or even on the buttocks......or on the legs, arms, even the face.

People think they have pimple or a bug bite.

And they spread it through a family by sharing towels etc

Clothes lines
We have fixed our own dryer half a dozen times, so we have a back up clothes line. One is in the house and one on the back porch. Unmentionables stay in the house. Wait for the reaction when they use that first scratchy towel for real snobbery!
Yeah, I have to run out and get the clothes - sm
off if he is cutting the grass, or if they are still wet I tell him he has to wait and do it later or the next day. My other problem is the dogs, my lab loves to rub herself through the clothes hanging low enough, usually the towels, yuk.
I have seen clothes that were like size....sm
20-something. I thought any store that carries plus sizes would carry up to very large sizes. At least that is what I thought. Maybe I am wrong.

comfy clothes

For me it's cotton pajama pants and my oversized Big Dog T shirts and slippers.  If I'm planning on going out and running errands or if I'm working at my itty bitty outside job that day then I dress in "real people" clothes, but if I have a long day of sitting and typing ahead of me, comfort is the key.

I live alone.  I might be more inclined to pretty myself up if I had hubby coming home at the end of the day, but my cats don't care what I look like as long as the food bowl stays filled.

Do your dogs wear clothes?

little doggie sweaters or hats or boots?

mine don't. I had a dog once that I tried to put a sweater on but I lost.

My kids mostly got clothes, which they really needed sm
My son't (17) fav gift was a 20.00 indoor remote control helicopter. He has had so much fun with it. When my daughter (14) was shopping for a cousin she saw a Doodle Bear and went on and on about how much she loved hers when she was younger. DH got her one (I didn't even know about it) and that was was her fav. gift.
Wear your clothes more than once before washing or
I wear jeans, khakis, and dress shirts at least 2 or 3 times before I wash them. They key with dress shirts is wearing an undershirt. Some of you may think it’s gross, but your clothes will not fade as quickly and you’ll spend less on detergent and dry-cleaning bills.

I love my clothes line
Nothing like hanging out sheets on a windy day, besides that it saves energy. Aren't we all supposed to be doing our bit to save energy??
Can You Wear Cheap Clothes?

and they look good on you?

I was just thinking about my deceased mother and she sometimes would say about someone "I wish I could wear cheap clothes like her!"
Ironically - one of the best fitting/looking blazers my mom ever bought was from Walmat and was on a clearance rack for $7.99. (orig price wasn't all that much higher)

It sounds like a catty insult/put down, but my sister says it too about her friend, and it's not said with any kind of malice - she just wishes she could buy cheaper clothing that fits well and looks good too and save the money.

There are as good looking clothes for + size as
for the smaller sizes. Check out the shopping channels, QVC and HSN, same price for small and then the +sizes. No reason for looking tacky and wearing clothing 4 sizes too small, just none at all, sorry.
designer clothes/shoes
I, for one, cannot tell designer shoes or clothes unless the designer's label is on the product. I, however, do know ugly when I see it and those shoes are fugly!
clothes, shoes, purses, etc...........
Believe me, a lot of women do this.
Do you buy always expensive stuff?
Or are you reasonable?
Do you have a daughter that could wear those?

If not, instead of giving them away to charity, send them to me, as a gift, I would wear them!

I am 5Ƌ", size Misses 12-14.
Shoes 7-1/2.

LMAO !

I got tons of clothes and toys. I always hit Walmart,
Toys-R-Us and JC Pennys for those things. I also went to Pac Sun and got me some jeans (2 for less than the price of 1). I never go for electronics. I figure what you are trying to save for 1 item, you loose by missing out on all the other small things. I did get gaming things though, basically any electronics I do not have to stand in line for, like Walmart has you do. For instance, if you bought a PS2 game at Toys-R-Us, you get a wireless controller for 5 bucks, normally 20. I got a game and the controller for 10 bucks.
If you feel good, like how you look in and out of your clothes, and are active, be

I was not out buying designer clothes or stuff for myself - sm
in my case it was "we", mainly him, spent way more than we make. Everytime one of his cards got a large balance (he never looked at the statements and I pay the bills) I would tranfer it over to one of my cards, which again he never looked at, and I had a P.O. Box for--so in my case it was very, very easy to do, and with paperless statements today even easier. We had a lot of things happen in our life over the past 4 years which made the money/credit card issue much worse, easily added $40K onto it (at $89K now)--family death, serious child illness--still dealing with that some--, job loss on my part, private school tuition ($12K a year---no longer go there for the last 2 years), inability to pay bills and heavily borrowed on cards----d-u-m-b I know. So don't be so quick to judge, it is not always so black and white. Yes I did get a few things I should not have, but I know during some of this time I was depressed though not horribly so but enough so as to buy a few things I never should have, but for 95% of it it was my DH never denying himself anything (though he would have if he'd known, and now he is --granted not too happy about it---one tiny concession he has made is only 9 beers a day, down from 12, so maybe he can get 3 days out of a case of beer instead of 2.) So my days of robbing Peter to pay Paul are over. We plan to have an open book when it comes to finances once his are paid off, and mine are enrolled with a debt management plan--- then only use his cards for gas, and work stuff basically--I won't have any as they will all get destroyed and cancelled in the DMP, and will use my debit card for everything --which I do now anyway, so it won't be a huge change for me. I don't think she is lamenting, just realizing what a horrid mess she has to deal with, it is hard, and I have to deal with my DHs comments for years to come, he did a few zingers last night. I will be okay though and have to pay the piper, it is worth it not having to go through a nasty divorce and custody fight as I know it would not have been pretty.
Lots of clothes lines here that look like umbrellas sm
without the fabric on top. Here is one from http://www.clotheslineshop.com/. They also have indoor ones and retractable ones. Never knew before
Well, if someone didn't buy their shoes/clothes, employees

I'll take outside clothes line any day over dryer

I've been beggin hubby to put a clothes line in since the 80s. The natural air drying  smell is nothing to be compared with an inside dryer. Alas, he doesn't see my point. He thinks I don't have time to hang clothes out....but I did in the 70s and now there's only 2 of us. Once and done, not 3 loads in the dryer.

Downey fabric softener should help with the stiffness? I wouldn't know since I have to use a dryer, and even DH likes rough towels, not soft,  so why does he complain about outside lines? Don't ask me ....oh, wiat! Could it be because I pay the utilities? LOL

Wore very expensive clothes. No one said a word.

What a nice response by a nice mom
What a gracious, well-adjusted response to a rude, obviously maladjusted poster--Hard to imagine someone with such an empty life and such a petty spirit that they would take the time to post criticism about a kid's feet! (Some people really have major issues, LOL!)
Vote please on clothes buying scenario for kids...sm

Scenario:   15-year-old finished growing 2 years ago, stable sizes.  8-year-old growing like a weed, can't wear anything from last winter.

It's getting cool now in my state and I need to get the 8-year-old some long sleeved shirts for school.  The 15-year-old thinks they should also get the same amount of money to spend on clothes - even though they have plenty to wear in their closet and state they have nothing in particular they want and make money doing neighborhood chores as well as chores around the house.  Also before school began both kids were given $100 to buy their school supplies and clothes. The 8-year-old spent the clothing portion on pants and new sneakers, the teenager spent it on various clothing items.

Would you:

1.  Do it even though they don't need it because it wouldn't be fair to spend more money on one child than another.

2.  Tell them that you're only getting the younger child clothes because they have no long sleeved shirts that fit, whereas the teenager does, and that they are welcome to spend their own money on extra clothes they want.

Which way do you vote?

Does anyone know where to get clothes for American girl dolls that doesnt cost a lot? nm

Because I gained weight quickly and can't afford to replace all my clothes at once (sm)
plus I am trying to lose weight and hope that they will fit again and I won't have to replace them all.
Yes - does not work! Hoax if you ask me. MetaboLife doesn't work either.
The only thing that works for me is exercise and eating correctly! No quick fix, unfortunately.
I am so sorry for you and your kitty....

Kitty
Glad to hear your cat is doing better! Something that may be helpful - I had a cat who made it to 17 yearsw of age. Three years before he passed, he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. It was difficult to get him to take the medication by mouth, so my vet suggested getting the med made up at a compounding pharmacy. The med was in the form of a paste that went behind his ear, and that ensured he got the med and we didn't have to hassel every day.

My cat died about 2 months ago.  She stopped eating, drank a little bit, just stayed in the closet flat out.  I couldn't afford to take her to the vet ($75.00 to euthanize) and I could tell that she wasn't in pain.  She purred and let me pat her once in a while, but for the most part she stayed in the closet.  She finally crawled to the back of the closet and died, I hope peacefully.  I miss her.  I want another cat (have had them all my life) but will not get one unless/until I have the money to properly take care of her when necessary.  Last July she had several rotten teeth.  The vet removed all but 5 of her teeth ($600.00) which I am still paying out.  She was about 14-15, so up in years.  I feel for you.  My gut feeling, though, is to euthanize her before it's a weekend and you can't do anything and she's in pain.  You're only prolonging the inevitable, IMO.  Take care.
My kitty

Thank you to everyone who helped me through these last couple of weeks with my beautiful cat with bone cancer.  We finally put her to sleep yesterday and it was very difficult for us but for her it was very quick and nontraumatic.  The hardest part for her was the ride down to the vet's because she hates/hated that part.  We then took her to the cremation place and should have her ashes back within a week.  I didn't write until now because my heart is still very sad.  I still haven't picked up her "things" around the house but will probably try to do that tonight or I may only be able to do a couple of things at a time, but that's okay.

I wrote about our milk prices here and it got me thinking how we probably won't have to buy as much milk now or the whole roasted chickens at Costco we used to buy for her.  She would share some with us but it was really Mochi's chicken.  She would come running in from outside whenever we cooked chicken too.  Plus she would do what we called "praying to the refrigerator God" for something good to eat, she would sit in front of the refrigerator doors and just stare at it or sometimes rub up against it until we opened it up and found something in there for her.

We hadn't been able to let her outside for a month or so so that she could warm herself in the sun, so I think she is very happily sunning herself right now, in no pain.
