I went with a company...sm

Posted By: Maxed out on 2008-01-05
In Reply to: After 6 months of looking and living - MT maven

We went with InCharge. The credit cards were out of hand and I was fed up. It took 1-2 months to get everything set up. We pay them $40 a month for their service, but the interest rates were knocked down to 6% so we are still saving bunches of money. We have have all the credit cards paid off in 2 more years. As for working out something with the credit card companies directly, they would not work with us so this is the route we went. Do not regret it at all.

I tried a big company, but
I didn't like the rigidity of their plan. You want somebody who is flexible in the cleaning rotation if they rotate their area of concentration. I mean, this company wanted to waste a clean by detailing my office and bedroom and laundry area. Nobody sees those areas, so if I have company coming over, attention needs to be paid to the areas we'll be using, you know? But they had to follow their national plan.

Plus, DH and I didn't appreciate having to spend every other day off preparing for them to come. Some days you want to spend in the yard and let the house go, but when somebody is coming to clean, you need to have picked up so they can vacuum and wipe counters, etc.
Which company did you use? NM
x
Which company has this.

unwanted company
Ditto -- Just don't answer the door.  We moved to the country to get away from that sort of thing and it still happens.  I hate it too.
Just because a company offers 8....
Just because a company offers 8 cpl doesn't mean they won't up that for experience. I was offered 8 and said no and now I get 10 cpl.
For what company? See, that's the thing - I
have tested for numerous companies, and passed with flying colors, then when it comes down to the job offer, they offer me about what I am making now.  That is why I would like to just know what companies out there are paying 10 cpl so I can just bypass all the ones that offer low pay; otherwise, I just see myself wasting my time, taking all these tests and in the end being offered no more than what I'm getting now.  Can anyone out there who makes 10 cpl tell me what company they work for?
misery and company
I'm not glad that you all suffer too, but a little relieved.  Mine is a little like an electrical hum - white noise came to mind for me also.  I wonder if computer error tones started mine as it happened right after I had a series of bad dictations where I turned the volume up really high and then when I hit something wrong I got a very loud tone - someone has since told me how to change it to a more tolerable sound.
Actually, I worked for a PC company
a long time ago supervising the commercial aspect. They always tell you that, but they can and do die in walls. We were sent out many times to cut them out after people insisted on using poison.

The best advice that I can offer is that once you get rid of them, you seal off any areas where they can get back in. If you don't do that, then you will continue to have problems.

Now rats instead of mice, I don't know what to tell you to do if they are eating through the walls!

Me personally though, I had a rat as a pet. In fact, we had to put her to sleep about a month ago.
Maybe you should contact the company...

The big company I used was awful.
Different people every time and they used a special schedule they could not alter when I had a special request. An individual would be more flexible, but make sure they are bonded and paying taxes so you don't run into trouble with the IRS.
Would it be possible to ask the phone company--sm
to come out and inspect your line? I don't see where a lawyer would be any good at this point, until something is either proven or disproven. Good luck.
Can't Garnish a Company
You can't "garnish" a company. Garnishment only works with an employer willing to work you court to fork over money from an "employee." You're talking about a company (is it incorporated?) If you didn't go to small claims already, that's your only (best) way out. That way, the company rep MUST show up in court to answer your claim, or offer a settlement. Unless you do some strong-armed persuasion through the local press and exposing the outfit any way you can I don't see any other way out. Also, in our county it's more like $50 to file the complaint, but you can recoup that from the debtor as part of the settlement. And, don't let the small claims court clerk tell you that you need an attorney. You don't--unless you want one. They clerk is duty-bound by their oath to assist citizens in filing their own documents. They can't give you legal advice, but they can and should make sure your paperwork is okay to file the claim. Also, you can always check in with the state attorney general. They could probably work with this as a fraud case and you might have some recourse there. Also, your state--secretary of state for your state would have information on the legalities of this company, which also if you filed a claim in Small Claims Court you could subpoena documents from the company directly to find out their bank, accounting records, etc. Good luck again.
They are all one company , and out of Grenada. sm
illegal in a lot of states.
All I can say is...me too!!! At least you have company in your misery!! (nm)

How about either you or her working for a company .....sm
that offers tuition reimbursement. My brother and sister obtained their degrees this way. It took a lot longer since they both had to work full-time but the education was free.

Some companies offer tuition reimbursement for their employees and immediate family. Might have to do your research but certainly worth it.

I think the only thing is the student would have to pass the class otherwise the company sends you the tuition bill.
BTW, the company I advise you
to avoid is

The Cleaning Authority.

They have a rigid schedule they refuse to deviate from, they mark up your walls with their tools, and they break furniture. They don't know how to properly clean a laminate floor or sinks. You have different workers each time, so tipping well makes no difference in the job they do. Complete waste of money, no matter how many times you meet with the supervisor.
This company seems very sketchy....SM
There is no way I would ever accept this type of job, no matter how desperate I was. No decent company does this to a person. It's like throwing a goldfish in with a bunch of sharks. I would strongly advise him against this.
CUSTODY not company LOL
x
we had a local company that came out to
maybe you just had a bad customer service rep?
His time, not company's.

Well, because the company that has me on file is local, all I can do is sm
forward you to this legitimate website http://www.volition.com/mysteryUSA1.html

You will have to do a lot of legwork and contact the BBB, but it's worth it. Some are national, some are local. I am in south GA. So unless you are local, I can only forward you to this website. Good luck!
finding a new mortgage company...sm
Is at the top of my agenda for this year, but it was the plan all along to refinance this year anyway, so...thanks for the support y'all!
Thanks. I am total IC and work for one company..sm
and I have worked for them for 3 years. I do have a FED ID #, as my employer requested that I have one when I first started. Hence, I also have a business name, but I file under my SS# and my personal name, not my business. I thought maybe that would make a difference. I still have the letter, as I keep all of that stuff *just in case.* I know that being an IC, we are *suppose* to file quarterly and I did read somewhere that there may be fines involved if you don't, so I did not think too much about it when it happened. I file in April and everything is in their officed prior to the 15th, so that could not be a reason why the fine, either. Needless to say, I am confused. Maybe I will seek out an accountant this year and leave all that stuff in their hands. It is getting to be a drag and too time consuming for me anyway. just trying to save a buck, even though I know it is deductible. thanks for answering me. I appreciate it.
just me, does that company have a website? If so, would you post it please?

The pharmaceutical company that makes it (sm)
will often offer assistance - go to their web site and check it out. Also Ameriplan, but you would have to check that out too as I am nto sure how much it helps.
Try the company that makes the drug.
We got on a plan for my son through the company and he gets his meds free (Concerta) for at least the next year.
Depending on the phone company, you can..sm
block all extras being charged on a child's phone.  When my daughter was in high school, I turned off text messages and all media.  Now my youngest son has text only because I now have a family package deal but he is blocked from downloading anything else.
Yes, specifically on my company email.

You need to move to a socialist company because that is what you are. Unfortunately, you sm
live in America where we all have the RIGHT to earn a living. You don't have a RIGHT to my or my husband's hard earned money. We put ourselves through college and if we make a million dollars a year YOU are not entitled to that money if you were poor. That is NOT a just society.

I grew up in the slums. I was told I would never amount to anything. I defied all odds. Went to college, made something for myself, married a college graduate and we are living comfortably. Anyone can do it. I get very ill when I hear of these "entitlement" speeches about how people like YOU think that my money should go to others in society. Give me a break. It's people like you who really don't amount to much because you just rely on others to pay your way. So sad.

you may wish to consult with your insurance company...sm

to find out how high your insurance is going to leap...she's underage and can't get her own until 18.  Perhaps she can pay the difference, but it's gonna be steep.  And with all her activities, where will she find the time to squeeze in a job?

In the state we live in you must have a licensed driver over 21 with anyone under 18 who has a learner's  permit for 6 months before they can even take the actual driving test.  Once they got their license then they had to go to a driving class mandated by the state...(under 18 driver's ed at school didn't count)...provided by dept of transportation taught by a police officer in the courthouse and saw a lot of graphic accident films.

It's scarey out there and at 16 or in some cases even 18 they don't have enough practical knowledge or experience to safely negotiate the freeway or interstates (and don't you think they're not gonna go once you hand them the keys) or steer out of the way of an oncoming wreck or even think about hitting a patch of black ice or hydroplaning.  They're too excited.

That's where you come in.  Teach her as much as you can before you let her drive.    Cat

Maybe Lee owns the company and she thinks

she is PERFECT?  Who cares!

Anyone ever use a debt settlement company - sm
like DebtAmerica or something like that, one that eliminates 30% or more of your balance owed, consolidates it and gets each cc to settle on an agreed amount, etc.  I am thinking of going that route instead of CCCS company which is just a DMP (consolidates it but you still pay back every penny and interest).  Either way you have a big black mark on your credit.  I owe a substantial amount and this way I can probably be debt-free in 3-4 years instead of 8 years. I know they charge a fee, and you have to pay taxes on the settled amount but it will be a lot cheaper for me in the long run and I can afford it a lot better.  So if anyone has gone this route, please give me your input and who you used and if you were happy with their service, etc.  TIA!

Misery Loves Company

Who has rubbed your nose in it that is now effected by the economic crisis?

For me...

Investment broker - not much call for stocks these days

Mortgage broker - self-explanatory

Realtor - again.....

All of these people were filthy rich and looked down on me, the lowly transcriptionist, who worked at home, who "really did not work", and look at them now.

I am the richest woman I know...which is not saying much.

Talk to your phone company

There is a way to do it.

There are several options here for you, the way I see it.

The cheapest way is you could get an old style answering machine and screen your calls. Annoying, but effective.  If you don't want to go that route, talk to your carrier about their custom calling options.  There should be a service called "call screen" that allows you to block selected numbers and routs them to a message that says you will not take the call.  A caller ID box will also let you know who is calling and that's something else you have to make arrangements for your local carrier with, as there is a fee with that.

Good luck.  From what you have said about your dad, I get the feeling that if he doesn't get you on the phone he'll show up at your door, so you probably should be prepared for that from him.

Depends upon company policy.
When I was a waitress at a restaurant, we had to pay for our own food. However, we got to eat "mistakes" instead of tossing the food out. One of my kids works at a restaurant and employees only get discounts.
I bet you told the insurance company that
you are the only inheritor and kept all your connections a secret.

Had you given them the last known address in Knoxville, they would have found them.

But why take half when you can take all. Wow!

in my area, my telephone company sm
which is Bellsouth, I have a full package of features. One of them is called anonymous call rejection. If I pick up my phone and put in *77, anyone trying to call you who blocks their number cannot get through. If they want to get through to you, they have to dial *82 before they dial your number which makes their number appear on your caller ID. If they don't do that, they will get a message that says this number does not accept blocked calls. Look in the front of your phone book and most of the time there is a list of all the codes for all the services. That way you will always know who is calling you. If you decide you don't want it anymore, there is anothe code you can put in that will cancel it. Here the code is *87.

Once you dial in a code, it stays there until you change it. If you have folks that have their numbers blocked, you might want to tell them you are doing this so they know what code to dial in to get through. Most states its *82.

Hope that helps.
Lawsuit! How to find a company's bank?
Ok, this is it and hope you can help me. I purchased a dinette suit 04/01/2006. The company said 4-6 weeks before delivery. Paid $640.93. I never got my furniture. I called, got very few calls back from them and finally decided last July after asking for my money back to file a lawsuit. The company did not answer the first filing in 45 days and then had to put in for a default. Just went to court today finally and got a default. By the way, the company did not appear in court!! Now I can go for a garnishment of the company with this documentation but do not have a clue as to where I would find out which bank this company does business with. If anyone able to give me any insight on this, I would appreciate it. Thanks.
IMO, John Hancock is the company to call.
They have some GREAT plans they will explain to you. I'm working with somebody there right now because my dad's retirement turned out so great (using them). Good luck.
try this company - in Huntington Long Island

I don't buy from them online as they only recently (last year or year before) put together the website.  When you order from them, they also send 3 samples too for free.  They also, twice a year, have 20% sales, in March and September.  Name is Scentsational of Huntington, Long Island (NY)

this happened to me once w/mica furn company

this was in Miami - I paid nearly $700 (thank goodness on my credit card!) and never got the furniture, the guy seemed creepy too, and they went back and forth with me on the phone promising the furniture that I never got and then they took off in the middle of the night from that shop.  My credit card eventually credited all the $$ back to me!

Hope you get satisfaction!!!

Best mortgage company for not so perfect credit?

I am looking to buy a house that is $185,000.  From the sale of my current home, I will make $165,000 and will use all of that as a down payment.  Obviously, I am 20k short.  I don't have the best credit (low FICO score) so I am looking for a mortgage company that will loan me what I am short with bad credit.  Anyone know of any?

Thanks

Hubby has his company picnic today..

I know, I love my company too. They're great (sm)
but how many years of life can a person spend sitting in front of a computer? I love the flexibility, love not having to go to an office... but get so tired of sitting and typing all day. And here I am typing again...because you guys are the only people who can relate ;-)
my company offered me 10 yearly, is that low/fair?
Thanks in advance...it is probably low but I will still take it.  Was just hoping someone else would share their info
The company writing the 1099 reports that
They have to report the 1099s they distribute.

I personally have great disdain for tax evaders, which is what you are if you don't report your income.

I pay my taxes and report all of my income fairly and accurately. Those who don't are commiting a criminal act against me as a taxpayer and against the government.

Sending your 1099 in a black envelope would be a protective measure, prevening others from easily viewing information through the envelope. Not quite as underhanded as you seem to want to believe. :)
