get to know another of dads girlfriends. You seem awfully supportive of the girlfriend.  Are you, perhaps, in the girlfriend position? To me, it is selfish of a parent who pushes their girlfriends/boyfriends off onto their children.  My children were old enough to say WE DON'T WANT TO SEE DAD'S GIRLFRIEND and that was good enough for me.  I didn't keep them from their father, but when they were at their primary home, that was their comfort zone, where girlfriends weren't pushed off onto them.  My job was to protect my childrens best interests. If that makes me sound selfish, oh well.

Happy Children
You don't know me or my children so you can't have any idea if they are happy or not.

And they are, very happy. They don't complain, they do what is needed and they have their activities, work, school, etc. They have great social lives and live life very fully, but with the expectation that things are done a certain way and if they aren't,there are reperucussions.

See my post above in a new thread, if you expect little, you get litte. It's that simple.
I doubt your children are happy with that treatment.
At least we hope so.

Doesn't offend me to hear Happy Holidays, Happy Hannuka...sm
or any way someone wants to greet me. As a basic rule, people use the greeting most comfortable to the speaker. What does burn my butt is when someone tries to tell me that my comfortable greeting of "Merry Christmas" is not appropriate. To those who are not concerned with my comfort, I have no concern for theirs.

Merry Christmas to all.
If they want to meet with you....
I would say go ahead and meet them and see what you think. It could be they're looking for a way to get a housekeeper without having to pay benefits and taxes. In that case, quiz them thoroughly about what is expected of you as far as duties, hours and days you will be expected to be available.

It could be legit, but just proceed with caution and trust your instincts.

Who would you most like to meet and why?

My son's homework.  The teacher gave them a day to think about who they would most like to meet and why and then write a detailed paper (he's in the 11th grade).

Anyone ever think about this?

Birthday wish to justme2....Happy B-day to you, happy B-day to you. now make your wish...
I wanted to wish you a very Happy B-Day...I am aging so tomorrw I may forget or at least remember at midnight...LOL...to all you celebrating B-Days this month, Congrats
So where does one meet these days?
So how does a single person meet someone then, especially if not into the bar scene at all? Okay - let me list where I might meet someone: Church...which usually is very limited because almost everyone is married. Any other suggestions? I know what a huge list I have....
Nice to meet ya!

Meet and greet
I'm going at 1:00. What a shame - I'd love to meet you!
Glad to Meet You....
Now let's see if we get flamed for our beliefs.

Haha, a virtual "burning at the stake," if you will.

When I first read you post, your personality sounds identical to mine. Now that I know we share 'religious' convictions, I wonder if that's indicative of our beliefs impacting our outlooks on life...

Hmmmmm. Interesting!!!
How did you meet your significant other?

With all the posts about how many times you were married or divorced, I thought I'd ask how you met your DH.  So how did you meet?  Were you high school sweethearts, friends?  did you work together?  Was it love at first sight or couldn't stand the sight of them?

I lived across the street for about 2 years from where my DH worked but never saw him there.  I met him at my grandfather's house in another state.  He worked with my uncle who lived with my grandfather.  DH lived down the road from my uncle and had gone to school with my uncle's son.  It wasn't love at first sight for me.  We would run into each other at my grandfather's house and he sort of grew on me. LOL!  We've been married for 15 years now.

The two people I would have most liked to meet ....sm
were before my time....Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe. There is a tribute artist who is eerily like Elvis I would like to meet though. His name is Shawn Klush. Youtube him. You will be impressed. Going to see him in June.
I wish! I'd love to meet him!
I'm sure they get a million phone calls though.

I just talked to my husband again and we decided to keep him until he looks better, and then we will find him a good home. He's already growing on me, so I have to be careful or I'll get too attached! :)

There's a line in Meet The Parents...

I don't meet the survey target , but
my two boys had a 10:00 p.m. curfew on school nights when they were 16. Curfew was 11:00 on weekends, unless something special was happening. I was told I was absolutely barbaric for setting such early times. My kids didn't tell me that. Other parents did. Not that I cared, mind you.

Each son proved himself to be trustworthy and responsible, and so the day they turned 18, all curfews were lifted. I only asked as a matter of courtesy that they tell me where they were going and give me an approximate time to expect them home so that I knew when to officially start worrying. They didn't have to tell me, but I asked them to tell me, which they did. In fact, for the first week or so after they turned 18 they'd ask me for permission to do something or go somewhere, and I'd reply, "Why are you asking me? You're an adult!" LOL!

They are 18 and 20 now, and doing just fine. The 18 year-old is commuting to a university in our city. He refers to us as his college roommates.
Ladies how did you meet your hubby?

Where and when and did ja' like this guy ?Was your heart justa jumpin'?

making ends meet
I agree if you need money to support your family you should not be going to school right now...and if your full time job is not cutting it then get a couple part time jobs.  i work 3  jobs now; 1 FT and 2 PT and have so much work now its unbelievable.  I will never go back to working for just one service.  You never know when things are going to be slow.  If your husband is not getting enough on disability then he needs to look for something else too...there must be something he can do unless he is totally disabled.
Children having children not a new thing, where do you live?
My son, who is now in his early 40s, told me years ago when in high school about all the teenage mothers that were at his school and said they brought the babies to school, and he seemed to think it was like the girls having playdolls like when you were little. This is not new and apparently folks think alright to have their children sans marriage, be it preteens, teens or adults. I guess my years alone do not make me shocked at anything anymore. Others talk about this job being isolated and your post says some of this if you were shocked at what the son said.
I am so tired of hearing so many people I meet say they SM
hate cats. What is with these people, and what in the name of God do cats do to offend so many people? One of my friends told me on a shopping trip last fall about 15 times how she hated cats, but LOVES dogs. Finally I just fired back at her and asked her what in the world was wrong with HER?  She got red in the face and muttered something about hating when they rub up against her. Give me a break. I could not take any more thatt day. Every shop we went into and she saw a cat on a picture, a mug, ANYTHING and I had to hear how she hated these wonderful, clever little creatures. All my life I have heard this nonsense. What is it with CATS??  My sister and nieces have cats and always have had them and we could not love them more. Would you believe last year my niece was in line at the store waiting to pay for cat food, when a guy behind her actually tapped her on the shoulder and looked at the cat food she was buying and proudly stated  I HATE CATS.  I agree with my niece when she said to me a few months ago that cats just don't get the recognition they deserve. When her cat of 20 years was failing but according to the vet not in pain, she took him to bed and slept next to him so he could die in her arms, which he did. We will never forget our Willie. He had a sweetness that will live on forever.
Neither. Not seen dad in the 21st Century, but did see mom to meet my stepfather. sm
They were very young when I was born, only 16 and 19. I have a younger brother who is gay and they have both pushed him away too, though mom a bit less. They were very controlling, highly critical and verbally abusive. The only thing I regret about the lack of relationship is that they managed to drive a wedge between my brother and I. I would thrilled to see him and build a new, grown up relationship, but they have made that impossible.

And for the record...I didn't see either of my parents for about 10 yrs and then decided to try again in my late 30s and early 40s. It proved fruitless. They were more angry, more belittling and just as abusive as ever. I tried, but then again I have changed and I no longer need that sort of negativity in my life.
go see Meet Dave with Eddie Murphy.
The kids will love it - and so will you. He played it so well! Cracked me up...several times.
For those of you happily married, where did you meet your spouse? sm
Just a curious question.  I am single and I am thinking if I stay in church, that might be the best place to meet a good man these days when one finally comes around.  It really gets me that some people meet their spouses in a bar and then wonder how they married an alcoholic, lol!
Happy Bikrthday to me, happy birthday
Unbelievable, I have reached the age of 65- where did the years go?? I would retire but gosh, darn just love this work so much, want to keep on working. Hubs had me a delicious huge chocolate cake this morning and daughter coming over for pizza tonight, oh forgot working today also but like I said, hard to give this terrific life up, that is a life in between my working!
Off to Vegas to meet up with my best friend from high school. sm

I have not seen or heard from her since our 30-year-old sons were babies.  Then we found each other again on Classmates.com and arranged this little vacation.  Tonight I will see her after all these years.  I'm concerned that I won't have much to say (I'm a very quiet person normally) but we do have show tickets and horseback riding and shopping scheduled already plus I MUST find time to do some gambling (I live where there is NO gambling).  I'm very excited!!  Plus I booked Business Class tickets.

That Classmates.com is pretty amazing.  I have connected with not only her but my first real love (and first broken heart), 2 girl friends, and 2 old family friends.  I really love having this connection with the past because I have very few memories of my years until I was about 23 due to much trauma and it is great to go back and visit some good times.

Wish me luck!!

I think you need to get out of the house and meet people in real life.
Any man can seem fabulous on the phone or through email. Your relationship has become inappropriate and you know it. IF he cheats on his wife, he WILL cheat on you. For your own sanity and well being, you need to end things now.
Any ICs with Northeast Health going to meet and greet today?
I'm going to the 10:30 session.  ERMT, you do Samaritan, don't you?  It'll be nice to have faces to put to names!
We hardly wear skirts ever and mostly meet at the church (basis of prayer)

Hey, nice to meet goombas here! Love the fish tradition Christmas Eve!

I should mention that I am 42, have 2 children and done with having children. nm
nm
You must a) not have children or b) your children are young
I don’t see them as being spoiled- I see lots of kids in the age group of one (30+) who are totally in the me scene, not just the 1 I have- she married and her husband same - a me type person. The other not spoiled but just got nasty when he did not get the money left to me and he thought he should. Just to think, this was my chosen 1 if I had to choose. Oh well, live and let live is the way I see things now.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. Hope it is a good one. nm

I am sure this is not always the case, but
I have had the cashier call me over if there was no one in her line even though I told her I had more than 10 items. She said she hates not having anything to do...Of course, as soon as I am finished loading my stuff here comes someone with 2 things in their hand! :-)
I don't believe this is the case.

Come with your opinions of spooning out meds.  Yoga is a great way to channel stress, but sometimes an SSRI for the long term is better.  As most of us know, if you don't have time to exercise, you will probably not do Yoga either.

I have come the conclusion that older people are not as understanding of what SSRIs are used to treat.  You are not weak because you have anxiety and/or depression.  Most of the older generation think this is just being lazy.

I'm living proof it is not being lazy, it is an actual condition.  Don't make my mistake and wait until you crash and burn.  I'm still recovering from a severe anxiety attack that occurred almost a year ago.  My mind still raises at night.  My severe anxiety attack was due to a few different stressful situations all occurring at one time.  My brain/body could not tolerate all of that stress.  This field does not allow much in the way of vacations, but knowing what I know now, I take the vacations and DO NOT TAKE THE WORK WITH YOU WHEN YOU GO.

Believe me, it will be there when you return.  I am still struggling with time off, but I have decided to take two days out of the week where I do not feel the need to WORK!

Try this OP in addition to seeing your doctor.  Take some time off every week!  You will be amazed how much better you feel.

I want to believe that would be the case (sm)
I really want to believe that would be the case. If I can just get him to cooperate - I would love to be able to be friends with him and raise our children the best we possibly can.
In that case
when you send out invites to anything, I think you should stipulate no gifts. No gifts, no thank you cards. I think not sending a thank you note is just bad manners, no upbringing. I give money to charities and expect no response but an invite and getting gifts, only nice way to handle this.
If that is the case, I think what I have is really
better. If it runs off batteries, can it whisper sweet nothings in your ear, does it give you strokes, talk dirty to you at the appropriate times, etc? If this is no, think I will just stay with my best half.
Unfortunately that is not the case here.
With a family this size there have been a few losses. No one extremely young, but still losses. Like I said they lost her husband about 20 years ago and while there was definite grieving it was not like this at all and his death was very unexpected.
no not the case...
When it is just her and her mom she always calls. She says mom is driving me up the wall today or something to that nature. She loves her mom to death but sometimes they clash. She always talks when her mom is home. I am not JEALOUS. I am concerned because this is not her and I don't understand it. I am looking for opinions on postpartum depression, which if she does have it nothing I can do anyway. All I can do is send her a card and let her know I am there. But I have never seen anyone behave this way after giving birth. I guess there is a first for everything.
In my case, it does.

in my case
Da#m husband. HA HA HA
Even if that's the case and they do in sm
fact get paid minimum wage (keep in mind, some make less and are expected to supplement with tips), $7.75 is still not an adequate amount added to the cheap $2 tip to make it worth the gas, insurance and wear and tear on one's car.  I stick to my OPINION that $2 is insulting.
In my case,
I'm the one who strayed. It's all my fault, because I married a man who I felt safe with instead of working through childhood traumas before trying to get married. So now I've been married forever and this near-perfect match came along, except for an impossible age difference. It honestly felt like I could not stop myself, though I never thought this would happen to me. The physical part lasted 6 weeks, and the infatuation lasted 6 months before that. I think this one person was unique, but without a good sex life at home, I'm certainly vulnerable to temptation in future. I did not and would not have ended it because I was ecstatically happy.

My husband is a good man, but I think I should divorce him to be fair, but financially it would be a disaster for both of us. Plus he doesn't want to split. All my friends' marriages are at the breaking point also.
Oh, in that case
I don't think I would call. I'd just leave it alone.

That just stinks if he doesn't hear anything though. They should atleast call him back and let him know. I hate when people say "I'll get back to you on Monday" and then don't. If that is the case, he might be better off not working for this guy. Or, you could think of it another way...maybe they are conflictd between 2 applicants and still trying to decide. They should atleast call him back though. That's what the secretary is for! lol
But in this case ...
My dog didn't want anything to do with the technician. If he came in the room, my dog growled and kept backing away from him. I will admit it was kinda neat looking to see the hair standing up on his back.
more on above - as I said in my case - sm
I do trust him BUT I would still wonder....in my case my DH did cheat on his first wife 2-3 x (I'm his 2nd wife--he did not cheat with with me, I did not even know him then, met him 3 years after his divorce) despite his paranoia of STDs, pregnancy, etc, though he was adament about using condoms so that kind of took care of his paranoia I guess. A few months ago my DH all of a sudden wanted me to buy condoms (we don't use a standard BC). I thought it rather odd since we have not used condoms since before the kids were born. I have just kept my eye on them and made sure the numbers have not changed as he has only used 2 of them since I bought them. He travels from time to time so has many the opp to cheat if he really wanted to (he's been out of town now for a month, home on the weekends). So while I trust him I am not blindly accepting that he will not cheat. He knows though if he ever did (and I caught him) I would divorce him over it and make sure I got full custody of the kids to boot, so I think that helps, that and I know he does love me still after 14 years together. So just keep the eyes and ears peeled and look for anything out of the norm. Good luck.
Jan. (in case you are the same jan)

Isn't Gy a unit of measure?

In this case, my DH had been her only - sm
sexual partner ever, and she his at that point. They were high school sweethearts, etc., married when he was 20, she was 19.
Just in case you want to know
I was at the animal shelter 1 day and a man brought in a dog, said it belonged to his son but his son left and the guy could not afford to feed the dog. He was asked if he had ever fed the dog since left there and the answer was yes. The people then informed the man he was legally responsible for the animal and he could be and would be held legally responsible for the dog. As far as their dog being in heat, your dog apparently has not been neutered or else even in heat they could not have mated, right? You have responsibility as a dog owner, also.
