Coca-Cola
I love the stuff. Never knew a Coke could do that to rats/mice. Learn something new everyday! Too wild! Who would have thought . . .

They do say it will clean your toilets well. Just dump and flush . . .
Get you some Coca-Cola ...
…Posted earlier, they drink and cannot belch and die. Now about the part about where they die- not sure about that but saw this years ago at a farmer's place where he had cola in the barn in upside containers (the glass and drinking part at the bottom that you feed chickens water with I suppose) but he had really big rats all swollen and laying around- I have seen for myself. Would have not believed if not seeing for myself.
Maybe then the government should ban Coca Cola and Pepsi from
producing their product, for as we all know, sugar causes teeth decay.  And how about caffeine.  Look at all the deliterious efforts that are a result of ingesting that!  And how about alcohol.  Maybe the government could shut down all restaurant and liquor stores and set us back to the days of prohibition, when, even though imany highly intelligent people STILL found a way to produce it to drink it to excess or not.  Tobacco -- we all know it's not good for use, by Phillip Morris, et all still keeps cropping the tobacco field, and being taxed by the government.  If anything, that is a perfect example of why the government should make it illegal to sell tobacco, but they dont, because the taxes they place on it are astronimal and keep all the workers "for the people" with cash in their pockets...The point is our freedom of choice is being decided by those other than ourselves, and with that, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY DISAGREE.
Favorite drink is Coca Cola, bar none.
Remember back in the mid-80's when they felt they needed to compete with Pepsi, and came out with that horrible 'New Coke'? My boyfriend and I (both Coca Cola addicts) were SO sad when *real* Coke disappeared from California. One time we were driving in Montana and came upon a little store in the middle of nowhere, which had cases of REAL Coke! We sure surprised the store-owner when be bought every box he had in the store!
Vitamin Water XXX flavor and
I go through about a pitcher a day of green tea that I make with raw sugar and honey.  And, of course, Welch's -- it is so good for you.
I bought a small sized water pistol for that
very purpose -- to keep the cat off the kitchen counter... stubborn tom cat. All I have to do when he's looking longingly at the counter now is to shake the water gun & he knows what would happen if he decided to go for it... LOL.
I like an inside water fountain or a water wall. Saw it on
s
stay away from C items, coffee, cola, and chocolate...

Do you have really hard water? Maybe leaving water spots from lime, calcium, etc.? Or are the spots

Vitamin B6
I was told helps with PMS symptoms, but I don't know about St. John's wort.  Look at the ingredients, is it a combo?
My GYN said to take vitamin B6.
But, I suffered so bad with this along with heavy cycles (14 days on) that I finally had a hysterectomy (left with cervix and ovaries).  The back pain was horrendous as well during these times.  Finally, after 8 years (I'll be 38 in a few months), I have found relief from the horrible PMS.  I'd go from crying to screaming to loving to hating to pitiful to in bed to not wanting to go to bed...  Are you getting the picture?  These emotions lasted 2 weeks and then was "on" for 2 weeks and I never had relief, never until I had the hysterectomy.  I felt like a million bucks 2 hours postop - no lie!  I was home within 24 hours (pleaded with GYN to just let me go home) and I have a new woman since.  I doubt they'll do a hysto though just for PMS, but like I said I've been there and the only thing she recommended was vitamin B6 and Yoga.  Definitely see a doctor though....
vitamin B complex (nm)
nm
I take Biotin which is a B vitamin.
.
Vitamin K does exactly the contrary, it
COUNTERACTS the blood thinning.

So, people whose blood has become too thin by possible overdosing on blood thinners, SHOULD eat foods containing a lot of vitamin K.
They should especially eat yoghurt which contains a lot of vitamin K.

Aspirin is a strong blood thinner due to containing salicylates.

There are also a lot of foods that contain salicylates and people who take prescription blood thinners, like Coumadin, Heparin, Plavix etc... should avoid those.

You can Google foods that act as blood thinners, opposite foods that contain a lot of vitamin K.

They have the opposite effect.

I think green vegatables also contain vitamin K and will help stop excessive bleeding.

NO BASHING, please!

Vitamin D question

I don't get outside much these days and wonder if anyone knows if you can get vitamin D from sun coming through the window?

My mom has osteoporosis, so I figure I better do what I can!

Thanks.

You can take a Vitamin D supplement. nm
x
Vitamin D is very important

A lack of vitamin D is the cause of ricketts.  It doesn't happen that often in the US any more because of all of the fortified foods we get, but if you don't go outside much at all, it can be a real concern.  There was a story about a hugely obese man - like 900 pounds obese - who had horrible pain and it turned out to be a lack of vitamin D.  THe only way your body can metabolize vitamin D is by exposure to sunlight.

Doctors always want to make sure that women who are older or at risk for osteoporosis take Calcium and Vitamin D.  The Vitamin D helps the body metabolize the calcium.

You should probably take a calcium supplement as well, if you aren't already.

Hope your rib pain goes away!

Vitamin D deficiency?

Anyone ever been diagnosed with this?

My rheumatologist's office called this morning to tell me that my blood tests showed a deficiency. My doctor is going to call this afternoon to discuss it with me. Apparently, it's not so uncommon in regions that lack sunshine?

Which vitamin for hair and nails?
Is it vitamin D? My hair will only get to a certain length and seems like it stops growing. Any ideas on something to help it grow more?
LOL! Yogurt is good as it contains a lot of vitamin K
it helps with blood clotting.

If people have not enough blood platelets, then they suffer from

Thrombocytopenia.

No bashing, please.

I am only a humble MT who learned a lot through atudying and MTing.
Thanks!
Try Palmer's Cocoa Butter with vitamin E.
I had a similar problem and this worked for me.  My husband even uses it and likes it.  I like the unscented type.  Good Luck!
I read that a lack of vitamin D and boron can

cause psoriasis.  The article said that a lot of vegetarians don't get psoriasis because they have a diet high in boron which helps with the conversion of vitamin D.  It is because vegetarians eat food high in boron and vitamin D, i.e., veggies, fruit, etc, and the soild the veggies are grown in is high in these nutrients.

There was a post on here about helping psoriasis so I thought I would throw that in!  Hope it helps.

Sorry, I meant ..'There are creams which contain vitamin K.'..sm
And, BTW, vitamin C and calcium are very good for preventing wrinkles.
Cranberry juice may work better than vitamin....
--
The intake of vitamin K helps against spider veins. ..... sm
But be careful, do not take too much, only from food sources, yoghurt is a very good source of vitamin K.
There are creams which contain vitamin C.

If you want to take supplemental vitamin K in tablet form, first check with your doctor regarding the dosage.

I had some spider veins in my face, but those disappeared when I started to put vaseline in my face.
I had heard Vitamin D was a good source for bones,
of course and being as I along with others on here do not get out as much as we should sometimes, had heard maybe I should take. I have pain in my ribs (checked for other things and scans, x-rays turned out ok) so started this morning with 4000 units. Anyone else take and if so what dosage? My ribs were hurting before I got out of bed and since seem to be feeling some better.
A lot of gastric bypass patients have vitamin D deficiency
also iron, calcium, and B12. But I have known other people who also had a D deficiency.
I have heard L-Lynsine (vitamin) is good to take. Supposedly it decreases sm
the time of outbreak, but also minimizes you from future outbreaks if you add it to your daily vitamin regimen.
Might try valerian root capsules or 5HTP or melatonin, in vitamin section

Some say it's the water...
and they are cooked in salted water - some are not. They have a crusty-hard outside and a moist middle. And they're huge. They really are the best! :)
Ice Water, sm
Soak apples in ice water and a little salt. Kabobs would be a great idea but not sure about the wooden skewers.
no where to put the water?
ever consider the toilet? Lot's of other nasty stuff goes down ther:)
Yes, usually when I get water in my ear, that happens.
I put a few drops of alcohol in my ear and it goes away.
Water is not the only --sm
source of fluoride though. It is in our toothpastes, mouthwashes, and probably a number of other items you would never suspect. You have to be proactive and check labels on EVERY thing to avoid it. This forced consumption of fluoride brings to mind the long suppressed addictiveness of nicotine in tobacco and the health implications that caused. I feel sometimes that having fluoride forced upon the unwitting public could possibly be in the same category. Flouride is in all actuality a rat poison, used many years ago for that reason only. It hardens bones (osteoporosis??) but I am doubtful about any other health *benefits* of it. I think there are many more risks involved in its use than the unwitting public will ever be made aware of and a lot of information about it being suppressed as well.
Some ants come in for water as much
or more than food. I have heard they don't like to walk thru talcum powder. You can put a circle of it around pet water bowls if that is the draw for them. See if you can find where they are coming in, both the inside entry point and the outside. Plug holes with silicone caulk or expanding caulk like STUFF. A natural product is diamateous earth (not the kind used for pools, though). Use only outside, or it may be okay in crawlspace, but not sure. You don't want to breathe it, so wear a mask while pouring. Once it is down it harmless to people and pets, but when hard-bodied insects walk through it, the texture tears their exoskeletons up and kills them. But it is washed away by rain, so very expensive. Depends on how rainy your climate is as to whether it will work for you.
If they get caught, off goes their water!

Have my shutters open this morning and I see my next door neighbor starting to water her lawn. We are in a drought really bad here and the water is being rationed, so to speak. No one waters on Sunday (and Sunday as I write) and we have an odd, even day system when we do water through the week. Atlanta, which is close by, has gone to a 1 day a week watering system. Some places in my state have turned off water to people caught abusing this. I remember in the 80s we had such a drought our showers were limited to 5 minutes. I would hope it does not get that bad again.

They use saline, right? Not just water.
Saline sprays don't bother me at all.
hot water cornbread

WARNING:  I do everything by eye....a pinch here, a smidgeon there...I just throw it all in a bowl and guesstimate.

Ya make 'em kinda like pancakes in a cast iron skillet on the stove and it doesn't heat the house up as much as baking.

Boil at least a cup of water in the microwave

Put about 1 to 2 cups of self-rising cornmeal in a bowl.  Add 1 beaten egg and mix thoroughly.  Then you add the boiling water in bits, slowly mixing it until the right consistency....not thin like pancakes.... kinda like what you would make for regular cornbread almost.

Heat skillet with about 1/8 to 1/4 inch oil heated med to med/hi.... then use a good sized serving spoon to dollop the mixture into the pan.  Watch carefully and try not to burn

DO NOT, under any circumstances use jiffy mix.

After 25 years I've finally gotten it nearly right (darn Yankee that I am).   Happy vows tomorrow!

Water 'em! (sm)
Hose them down outside, put them in the shower, or leave them out in the rain.

bluing and well water
I am on well water too. Have not used it most of my life but only the past 5 years so maybe that is part of my problem too! I don't know much about how it changes things. We do have a reverse osmosis system which is supposed to help remove rust and sulfur. Maybe I need the bluing too. More info on this would be appreciated! :) I also have allergies to most detergents so a brand name would be great!
thanks for the info. we have well water too. sm
we have a water softener, and filters.  not sure if maybe that is helping my stuff dinge out.  thanks for the info on the bluing!
Hot tap water - which is really very warm - sm
If it's too hot for your hands, it's too hot for the yeast.
I know I don't drink enough water...sm
I also have interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder inflammation) so I should definitely be drinking more water than I do. When I drink any carbonated drink, my bladder hurts the next day. I had a cystoscopy in September to diagnose this, and my bladder was all red and inflamed with little red pinpoint bleeding in it. When I do pee tests I have chronic white blood cells from the inflammation. So yes I would say I need to drink lots of water.
I go along with the filtered water--sm
It makes a HUGE difference in the way your coffee tastes. I turned my mother onto filtered water and she says she will never do it any other way. She even makes her icecubes with filtered water. Anyway, I am picky about my coffee as well and I buy Farmer Brothers. Around here, I can only buy it on line, as none of the stores carry it. I buy five one pound cans at a time, which is a little cheaper, with a flat rate shipping fee. It is supposed to be the kind of coffee that most restaurants use, which is why you can't get it in the stores. I do not like strong coffee. I cannot handle the caffeine and I do not like decaffeinated. Farmer Brothers has varying degrees of strength, as well as flavored coffees. I will also go along with a clean coffee maker, and don't forget to clean the pot, as well!
sometimes too much caffeine and not enough water..sm
I sometimes get these symptoms when I am actually sort of dehydrated from drinking too much caffeine containing products or alcohol and not enough water. I will then gulp lots of water and in a couple of days, I am fine again. I am very lax on drinking water, so it happens more often than I would like. Just a suggestion, though, not a "diagnosis."
Bottled Water

DH always buys Aquafina bottled water. I'm not crazy about it, because it seems to have a taste or after taste that I don't like.

What bottled waters do you like and is one better or healthier than another?

bottled water
Have been exposed to many brands and would highly recommend Ozarka if you can find it in your market. Its source is Piney Woods Springs in Wood County, Texas. In my opinion, easily the best tasting.
you should have bought it together.
my husband adn i shop together at the sex shops. i would be angry too if you were trying to hide it.
What GPS was that you bought ? ...sm
I am terrible with getting around. I could get lost easily and the older I get the worse I get with not wanting to drive. I would love a GPS that has the capability of telling you exactly when to turn etc. I have no sense of direction.

Thanks

I just bought something like that, it was about , sm
$14.00. I have 2 cats and they would just play with the mouse, so I thought I'd try something to keep it away.

I just bought it the other day and so far no sight of the mouse. Hope it keeps it away.
I bought one...sm
I just bought one this weekend for my 6yo son. He LOVED it. I made the outside only rule too and so far he has obeyed. It doesn't hurt to get "hit" with one and it seriously provided hours of fun for him.
