Made me feel good anyway - sm

I can see where the girl gets it though. Really pathetic.

They moved in a couple houses down about 2 years ago and I started locking my front door not long after.

All the neighbors had a BBQ party one night not long after they moved and that is when we all got a taste of how their house is run. The husband seems like a nice guy and I actually pity the poor man.

We are in the front yard of another neighbor and the girl comes storming up to her mom whining about not having something, think it was about a water gun or something. Anyway, the mom looks at dad and I am NOT kidding... she said, "Dale, what are you going to do about this?"

She wanted him to drop everything and race to get her a bigger one... AND HE DID! The girl was what.. 13 then? Give me a break!

Not long after, the girl started coming over unannounced, uninvited, and would just walk right in and make herself at home. Go through the fridge, turn on the television, you name it.

Thought, okay, the kid is rude. Then her mom came over one day did one of these tricks of opening up the door without knocking and saying "Knock Knock! ANYONE HOME?" As she is walking into my kitchen in the BACK of the house. She started doing this often enough that I started keeping the door locked.

She also will stand out in your yard and, while she's talking to you, her little precious dog poops. She simply says, Oops! but leaves the POOP right where it lands!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Thanks, you both made me feel better about it...sm

My intuition is definitely telling me something is off in the story. I try not to be too quick to judge but can't compromise the safety of my kids.

It bothers me a lot when stuff like this comes up, reminds how difficult the world is these days. I love technology, movies, music, the internet, etc., as much as the next guy, but it sure raises a lot of issues with your kids that weren't there when we grew up. Whatever happened to the days when kids made doll houses, sleds, and clubhouses out of cardboard boxes and the first thing you did after school was change into play clothes to race to the house with the best swingset or grab a snack to watch the Brady Bunch or the Monkeys.

Ok, well how would you feel if you made...
your daugther get this vaccine and then 10-20 years down the line she dies from some crazy side effect?!! Then you would have to live with the fact that YOU COULD HAVE prevented her death by just not making her get the shot!! Or what if one of the long-term side effects is sterilization or something else that is just awful, how would you feel then knowing you could have prevented it?! I absolutely do NOT believe in letting my little girl be a guinea pig so some politicians and drug company can become rich! No way is my daughter getting this until they have LONG-TERM studies that it's safe for her!
thanks -- this made me feel better. nm

You all have made me feel better already
I have cried off an on since last night. Not just a whimpy cry...I mean a REAL cry. One minute I feel like I am in control, the next, I feel like a 13 year old girl whose friends all went out and didn't invite her...kinda childish, huh?
I've been made to feel like
I was born into dh's family. It's nice because my dad's only sibling, my aunt, lives at the southern end of the state and she's never been emotionally close to us and my mom's family is in England. Dh's aunts organize family barbecues at least 3-4 times a year just to keep the families connected.

It did not make me feel bad, but it made

So very sorry. Made me cry. But feel assured that your little one knows how much you love her.

Well now you've made me feel worse!
Not your fault, just don't like this whole situation, as you can tell. I hate the idea of paddling. I spanked my kids a few times when they were younger but I honestly had no idea school districts still did this sort of thing.

If the principal/vice principal bruises my daughter you'd better believe I'll be in there Tuesday morning demanding some answers! Maybe I'll write on the slip "Only if soft enough not to bruise." There is NO EXCUSE for causing that kind of damage to my child. You say there is no bruising IF done by a thick wooden paddle or not done with one? Seems like that's what would bruise. I know they use a paddle, but I don't know any details about it, how thick it is or if it has any holes in it (which I assume makes it worse).

I don't think I'm going to sleep well tonight. This is so hard on a mom, you know. I like your extra pair of undies idea. I have a pair of control-top underwear that I've never worn before, I wonder if they'd fit my daughter. They're pretty padded.

Not happy.
Hope venting made you feel better...

The thing that struck me the most in your post is that you help a friend by listening to dictation.  Is this during *your* work hours?  If so, try not to answer the phone.  I know, it sounds so simple, but if you have kids, this can be tough.  Anyhow, if the friend asks why you are not answering, tell her you need to focus on getting lines so you can pay your monthly bills (stress this!).  Maybe she will get the hint.  I had to do this when a coworker called me constantly.  I'm a sole income earner so can empathize.  As for the friends working when they were asked not to, well, unfortunately, it is a supervisors/manager's job to handle.  Hopefully s/he will take care of this.  Good luck.

Wellbutrin here, it's made a 200% difference in how I feel. (nm)

The pill always made me feel awful - does Depo?

Thanks everyone, the thousand dollar post before made me feel CHEAP!
I will go with the gas card and some cash, good ideas. I think I got 10 bucks and told I had to start to pay more "board". Times are changing. I don't remember last time we gabbed about this subject but the gifts were way up there for high school. These sound more like what I can afford.
my mom made it good!
Squeeze out the excess moisture; put some mayonaise (no imitation) all over the fish, then roll in crushed pepperidge farms herbal stuffing mix and place on sprayed cookie sheet and bake (i think it was about 400 or 450 for 15 min?) Yum!
Lucky you. You got the one good one they made that year.
s
Yep...I always made good grades...never got in trouble in school (sm)
Never get in trouble with my job...I know I don't have any type of learning disability. But I just can't stay focused. I keep wondering why I can't stay organized despite my efforts.

Thanks
Just speaking for my brother, it made him more determined to have a good marriage SM
and is respectful and a wonderful dad and husband. I am proud of him for that. My dad was a good person, and so is my mom. However, together they were oil and water. I affected my sister and myself more than my brothers.
This post made me laugh and then brought tears to my eyes...good for you!!!
I think that is great you went to the school. I'm guessing he will turn out just fine if he's got a mom like you! *Hugs*

Feel good jars...
My son gave this to me years ago, and it is the most touching gift I've ever received.

Cut some wide strips of colorful paper, and have the kids write something about why they love the parents on each one (I love it when you read to me, I love your hugs, etc.)

Put those strips inside a small Mason/canning jar.

Replace the removable flat part of the lid with a square piece of pretty fabric and then use the "ring" part to screw it on.

Tie a ribbon around the jar with a card attached that says:
When you're feeling blue,
And you don't know what to do,
You don't have to look far,
Just open this jar,
And see how much I love you!
Not a feel good movie...
Identity...seen it hundreds of times.  I dumped Vince Vaughn for John once I saw this movie.
You are right! I feel really good today
for the first time in a really, really long time! I suggest it to anyone, except put it on your schedule first so you don't miss anything good. LOL. :)
Feel Good Story

I wanted to share a feel good story with you from our local paper.  Have a great Monday and Wonderful Week

OMAHA, Neb. -- Drivers who saw $2,500 in cash blow from a motorcyclist's open pocket Thursday pulled over, collected 24 of the hundred-dollar bills and waited for his return as others tracked him down.

The unlikely payback had the motorcyclist feeling "blessed," and, perhaps more importantly, able to pay his bills.

Anthony Burres was headed south on 132nd Street between Dodge and Pacific streets when the bills began to fly.

"I didn't have my side hip-pocket zipped up and my wallet fell out, and it's like $2,500 in cash just flying all over the street," Burres said.

Burres got to Center Street before realizing he was being chased.

His headphones made him oblivious to his expensive mile.

A witness finally got his attention at the intersection of 132 and Center streets. They headed back to the scene.

"I finally get back here and it's like four lanes of traffic of cars stopped just dead in the street, picking up money, and I'm like, 'Aw man, no way,'" Burres said.

But it was real. Burres got $2,400 back.

Eight to 10 people handed him the money.

He was down one bill.

He's not missing the pocketed $100.

"I can still pay my bills. That's real good for me," Burres said.

He said the first person to stop probably pocketed the cash. But he said that's OK -- that person probably needed the cash.

My family made home-made mozzarella,
and it was very good. I was pretty small at the time, so I don't remember the exact process, just that it was done pretty quickly, and a lot of milk was used.

I don't know if you'll save a lot of money making your own cheese. The cost of milk is very high, too, and you need a lot of milk to make cheese.
Anyone have any good holiday dessert recipes? Looking for something good to take to a party. nm

Good Fences make good neighbors
You can get premade cedar fencing that comes in sections. You dig a post hole at the appropriate distance and fill with a bag of quick-crete. Alternatively, you could buy a used fence from a place that hauls away.

You could also get an electric fence, just hook to a battery and run the cord (for retraining purposes) it would not hurt your dogs.

I feel your pain. Roll up your sleeves and pray for some digging weather!
esl just made my day
I just had the best ESL dictator!  He spelled almost every word he had trouble pronouncing and spelled it accurately, spoke slowly and ended the report with, "Thank you so much and have a nice day."    If only they could all be so easy!
None of this is made up
I don't care if you think I'm weird. My kids and family didn't think it was weird and your opinion doesn't mean anything to me, anyway. Apparently there are people here with an opinion because they have posted so many - I don't care if ya'll want to keep it going. Be my guest.
LOL! You just made my day! :)..nm

Made too much $$$$, had to pay it all
Gosh, that tuition came around often and so did all the books I had to buy, all out of pocket because back then I made more than I should have (we also had a home business that cleared half a million the first year) but I would have loved not to pay out of pocket, I am really cheap on some things, my pockets for example.
ha, ha...that just made me think...take a lap

One of the cutest I made...sm
My kids are too old now but I use to make all their costumes and usually tried to match the up even though they are 5 years apart.  My favorite was a scarecrow and a crow.   Scarecrow costume is fairly easy with overalls, straw hat and rafia (My daughter, older) and my son was the crow, using a long sleeve black leotard and orange tights (had to dye some), sewed full head gear (including beak) and tail, feet to cover top of shoes out of felt.  They won their school contest that year.
That made my day, I loved it !!...nm

By then, they usually know, and if not, will be made fun of by other kids.

For those of you who believe this rule had to be made
because of those with medical problems - you are very naive.  We are know there are exceptions to all rules - this has obviously become a huge problem with obnoxious children.
i think iit was all made in fun, and besides if Simon did not like him
he would not be hosting the show.
I made such a big mistake
I got in touch with someone I went out with once, just to say hello. Now he won't leave me alone. I've told him I don't want to see him, that I was just saying hi, and he won't believe me. He acts like we're going to have a relationship and live happily ever after. He called me like 4 times before I ever got home from work, even though I told him what time I would be home. These were weird calls. One of them sounded like somebody else, not him at all.

He's not a whacked out kid, or on drugs (at least not that I know of), he's in his 40's and is a seemingly responsible single parent.

He's called a couple of times, ranting at me about me not answering the phone. He's called a couple of times and hung up. He just won't stop. I had to take my phone off the hook.

I wrote him an email telling him to leave me alone. Maybe he hasn't checked his email tonight, I don't know.

Anyway, this guy is seriously obsessive. He wasn't like this when I knew him before, although he did react rather badly when I broke it off.

I think I'm dealing with a psycho here! I never really knew him very well before, and now I'm hoping I can get out of it without having to get the police involved.
My FIL's doc made housecalls.
My father-in-law died this past November, but for about six months before that, his MD made house calls. Truth be told, if my FIL had still been able to walk, he could have walked to his doc's office in about five minutes since it was only blocks away. It had gotten just so hard to move my 6Ɖ", 250-pound FIL into a car, drive him three blocks and then get him out of the car, into the office, etc. etc. Finally, the doc said, "You know what, Charlie. It's easier for me to come to you!" He never made an exact appointment time, just knew what day he'd come over. When there was a break in the patient's at the office, he'd come over to the house, and my mother-in-law made the doctor something to eat, as well. The doc didn't have a traditional black bag, but he carried a very cool, very compartmentalized backpack with him. And he only ever charged for an office visit, since, according to him, his office was nearly in my in-law's back yard. He was a nice guy.

Man-made holidays...
but you are all so quick to forget that the Bible from which you quote from was in fact man made as well.

And if we are to only quote by the Bible as to what rules to follow to get into Heaven, you exclude a ton of other religions who believe they will get into Heaven or where ever based upon their man-made books as well!

Is the Bible the only true verse? If so, then Christians are the ONLY true believers and will be the only ones to get into Heaven. Bull...

Like I always said though, whatever floats your boat.

Me personally, I do not want anyone in my room preaching to me on my death bed unless I personally asked them to do so.
