I think that you should be on your own for at least a year and make both of the "gentleman" date you. If you is really interested in a relationship (your s/o now), then he will be motivated to change. If you find that you are happy with the other one, then you have a decision to make. But I honestly think you need to get out of where you are now, be on your own and DATE. Not relationship, but DATE. Best of luck to you.
