Yes, you can freeze it if it is chopped. I freeze everything. NM

:

Hamburger soup and sausage soup

Pretend you're making vegetable soup. Throw in whatever you want for veggies (corn, green beans, carrots, onions, potatoes), a can of tomatoes or tomato juice. Add 1 pound of browned, drained hamburger and beef broth in place of water.

For the sausage soup, brown a pound of sliced SMOKED sausage, add some water and scrap the bottom of the pan. Add your veggies and chicken or vegetable broth (the harder it's smoked, the better).

I usually use frozen mixed veggies and just add a few potatoes if I feel like it or if I'm in a hurry and simmer for 30 minutes.

I make large batches and freeze all but enough for a meal. You can season with your favorite seasons. I usually use garlic and pepper and a bit of cumin to make them smokier.

That's not barbecue! That's a sloppy joe! nm

need advice on what i can freeze

ie, casseroles, for a family (mom having cancer surgery) that freezes well.  (i know beef does, but ) does tuna freeze well, ie tuna noodle casserole? Does green bean casserole w/soup do well? Would it matter if the beans were previously frozen?  thanks.

Deep Freeze !!!
Holy icicles batman ! It is -8 here in New England !

How about where you live?
Can you freeze fried eggs? - sm
I thought I might freeze breakfast sandwiches for my son so he can have a quick breakfast before work - you know, bagel, egg, bacon and cheese.  Anybody know if eggs freeze and the microwave well? Thanks!
do you freeze stuff like cereal and
flour for 24-48 hours to prevent weavils? Will load on toilet paper, that's for sure! Have heard some stories about that!
If you cross your eyes, they'll freeze!
My mom told me that if I kept crossing my eyes, they'd eventually freeze into that position. I believed her, but I was a defiant little girl, so I'd stare at her and cross my eyes just to push her buttons. I figured that I might have at least one more freeze-less eye crossing in me to make her mad, and if they actually did freeze, then I'd just cross that bridge when I came to it!

By the way, I'm 45 and she's 77, and my mom is still telling me that if I cross my eyes they'll freeze that way! And I'm still crossing them just to tick her off! :)
tiramisu - buy a 1/4 sheet cake, freeze it
hot bed aerobics! Only problem is I've been celibate for almost 4 years now...hasn't stopped me from my tiramisu, though!! Gained 30 lbs eating it without the aerobics!!
Computer starting to freeze up every now and then. Any suggestions? It is
only 3 years old and not sure what is causing this.
North Dakota. :D Freeze in winter/fry in summer ;)

Well, this is our coldest period right now.  But having it -30 to -60 with the windchills certainly isn't any surprise.  In summer we can be in the 80s and 90s with very high humidity.  LOL!  We always say, if you don't like the weather... just wait a minute.

Also look into putting in a "credit freeze" which wouldn't allow anyone to open anything in
Go to Suze Orman's website. Good luck.
why do you make your lasagne one day, separate it into meal size portions, freeze it, and eat it for
;
think about down the road
My sister is in a very similar situation. Her husband won't ever go out socially or even to family functions or kids' extracuricular activities. Think about how this will be down the road after you have kids. You are lucky because you aren't married yet, don't have kids, and are thinking rationally about this. If this is really how you want the rest of your life to be, then so be it, but if you can't imagine still doing this in 20 years then maybe it's not worth it. My sister has told me many times if she could have looked into the future and realized what he was going to be like (they only dated for a few months before they got married and he faked being sociable to make her like him) she would have never married him. Now they have 4 kids and she feels stuck in an unhappy life but won't make a change because of the kids. She knows that even though they love each other she would be happier with someone who was more like herself and really her husband would be more happy with someone more like himself, too.
You still don't know which road to take with that question,
do you? I don't think they are standing in front of road, with the truthful man standing in front of the correct road or anything like that.
road rage sm
I can agree NCMT, same thing happened to us on New Years Eve one time, screamed my head off, not a cop around and went through two states. I will never forget it. I don't speak of it often as I didn't think anyone would believe me! No cell phones then, that's why they are useful, although I am not sure how fast they would come, but it sure makes you feel better. Thanks for sharing.
Please don't take my post down that road
I did not write that post for people to start gay bashing, any bashing, or bible thumping. I was talking about basic rights that have been taken away from me, because of the rights some others think they need. And don't bash me, I believe in God and I will answer to Him for me, and me alone. I will not answer to Him for everyone else, they can do that on their own.
yep - your tune shall change down the road..LOL

Look at the bigger picture down the road.....
xx
I'm going down same road - please answer questions for me-sm
I have no other option but to get this done. I have been putting this off for awhile now, terrified of dentists.

1. Do you feel better healthwise since you got the dentures? Sometimes, I feel I will just generally feel better and maybe have more energy if I get this done.

2. Did they pull all top ones at once or in a few visits? Seems like such a traumatic thing to me to have done, maybe it's not so bad though?

3. What kind of anesthetic did you have, just novocaine or nitrous oxide or completely out?

3. Do you feel better about how they look and happy about having it done, now that it's over?

Thanks so much.
Hey, you're "right up the road" from me!

I'm just a tad southwest of Bangor, maybe 3 exits south off 95.  I love Acadia but not during tourist season!  I think Orono is nice--college townish if you're into that scene.  I feel old and crusty when I go there, so I don't.  I just spent the day in Bangor because we've been without power for 24 hours and just got it back on mere minutes ago.  Crazy T-storms here yesterday!

Welcome to Maine and sorry your vacation is turning out to be so crappy.  Mine always do to, which I why I haven't taken one in...oh....5 years now!

Two words from me....ROAD TRIP!!!! Yea!! nm

The Soup

For any of you who don't watch this show you should.  It's one of the funniest shows.  I just pulled myself up off the floor from laughing so hard....

Guy goes to the ER (think his girlfriend and he had a fight and she injured his foot).  Needless to say this guy is not one of the brightest on the blocks, but here's the conversation (he's filling out the questionnaire) in the triage area.

Mariital Status: Guy says "martial status?" - nurse says "marital status".  Guy says "definitely single"

Guy says "Mode of transportation?".  Nurse says "how did you get here".  Guy says (I think to the person who brought him in).  "Was it a chevy or a ford".

AHAAAAA HA HA HA

Religious conviction is a narrow road for some.
dd
Then, they can widen the road by allowing God to come into their lives!
g
They unknowingly turned onto a logging road.
Logging roads are not owned and/or maintained by the state. I believe it's the US Forest Service whose in charge of them. In any case, they are not public roads and are only supposed to be used by logging companies (popular with hunters also though). Unfortunately, the Kims did not know this when reading their map. They thought it was a normal road/highway.

Such a sad ending.
Me, again another thing 1 night riding down the road
going very fast saw these huge eyes - a cow in the middle of the road, good thing I did not hit her.
Me too - more of a road block really, flat and wide. :) Also known as ,
Apple A$$ :)

An unfortunate trait inherited from my mother's side of the family.
I love the smell of a gravel road...sm
I think foreigners/men with accents are sexy....

I was valedictorian and voted most likely to succeed...now I'm a SAHM who does transcription to supplement our income. I wouldn't trade a single moment with my kids for the most successful position in the world...

My favorite guilty pleasure is watching stupid movies with hot guys (like Spring Break Shark Attack).
yes, the dogs are left outside to run around, right next to a very busy road sm

yesterday i took my son to ball practice to see if he wanted to join.  the friend i talked about in this post, his mom was there.  (i knew the boy played ball, that's why my son wanted to play ball too).  so i told my son that we'd go watch and see if that's what he wants to do.  so i'm sitting there talking with the mom and i told her that i was a little scared of my son playing football because of getting hurt, etc.  that he had already had two broken bones.  she said that her husband (the dad that kicked the dog), has had several broken bones, from wrecks and she said when he was younger, he used to fight (like street fighting type stuff, not boxing).  but she said that he doesn't do that any more, we grow up as we get older.  i thought to myself, i guess he just beats up dogs now.  i'm going to check into what rescue groups are around here.  it's very obvious these dogs don't go to the vet for checkups.  even if there is no child abuse going on, the kids are going to think it's ok to hurt animals.

thanks for your opinions

For my squash soup (sm)
I'm sorry this is going to sound not professional, but I cook by taste.

I take 3-4 pounds of acorn squash, pumpkin, etc., whatever squash I have around. (I have been known to use a sweet potato as well.) Roast them up for an hour or until you can gut them. Put the seeds in the oven to roast for whoever eats roasted seeds. :)

Puree those up until smooth. Then you want about 3-4 cups chicken broth or bouillon to thin it out to your preferred thickness.

In the meantime, I've been cooking up about 7 slices of bacon more or less or maybe a few slices of canadian bacon, whatever you have on hand. When those are all crisped up and some grease drained(and I cut my bacon up precooking), throw in a finely chopped onion with a little bit of salt and sweat them until translucent.

When that's done, throw the bacon and onion into the soup. Salt and pepper (freshly ground, please!) to taste. Your final herb is sage. If you have fresh, go with around 4 teaspoons. If you have dried like my un-green thumb has, use around 1-1/4 teaspoon dried. Throw that in, stir it in, and make a big decision whether you want the soup completely smooth or if you're lazy like me and don't mind the chunks of onion and bacon.

Heat to serving temperature and eat. It's a simple soup and really pretty healthy. It also freezes exceptionally well. I could eat it for every meal.

Hope that was okay--sometimes I'm clear as mud.
soup/zupatta

That soup sounds delicious!  Not professional!??!!  Are you kidding? ...Your MA and grandma did everything with a pinch of this or a dash of that....I copied your recipe and plan to make it (probably not as well as you do though).

Waste not, want not....I'm glad to see somebody putting up food/canning/freezing....been doing it for years.....

Lived in a very rural area (gravel roads)  where it was a 17 mile one-way trip to the grocery store......If anyone needed bread, butter, meat, veggies or anything else, they could come stop by and get it out of my deep freezer and visa versa.  We all helped each other out. It used to be called community....

chicken soup does!
and if you make it thicker and put a pie crust lid on it you can make home-made (much healthier in my book) pot pies easily. i would just advise rice instead of pasta...the pasta can lose its texture during thawing sometimes. a beef roast with potatoes and all freezes well too. I usually make a double batch of both of these and put one in the freezer. Same with lasagne. :)
chicken soup
Good ol' "Jewish penicillin" - chicken soup.  Use leftover chicken or steamed chicken thighs or breasts if no leftovers are available.   Use Swansons natural chicken broth (no sodium) but can use bullion, but it contains a lot of sodium.  Use about a quart or more of natural chicken broth.  I like to use baby carrots whole, but can certainly use sliced carrots.  Season with lots of minced garlic and a little dill weed (maybe a teaspoon).  I slice in a couple of things of celery or sliced celery hearts with leaves.  I sometimes add noodles, or rice, sometimes I use a package of frozen mixed vegetables which are really terrific, depending on what I have available and what type of soup my  family wants.  Add some white pepper, not black pepper.  Simmer until carrots and celery are soft.  If using pasta or rice, add that last, otherwise it soaks up too much broth and gets soggy.  My family would eat this even if they were sick and nothing else appealed to them, that is why I call it "Jewish penicillin."  This is a Jewish mama's recipe.  Enjoy - it is so simple and so delicious not to mention nutritious and healthy.  Note:  Never let your chicken leftovers go to waste - make a pot of chicken soup!
tuna and soup
I use to make it like that but added mac and cheese to it.  My children loved it.

Reading Beach Road by James Patterson

Beach/road trash pickup, help neighbors
with yard work, or help little old ladies do things around the house. Not sure what things you've tried that require them to be 14, but there's always animal shelters and teaching little kids to read. I'm not sure if you need approval, but they could help collect canned goods or toys for the Salvation Army or other charities.
I feel your pain, been down that road many times over the years - sm
I am so sorry for what you are going through. You need to take her to the vet and let her go. That way she will not be suffering any longer and you will know you eased her pain. It sounds like it is time. Again, I have been through this many times over the years with my cats and it is hard each and every time. I will be wishing you all the best.

Teenage son just walked in and said, Oh, good. We get to eat tonight. LOL. Guess he is tired of take-out.
I can't watch CSI Miami because of The Soup
plus the men are sexier on Vegas!!!
Has anyone ever tried the cabbage soup diet and if so
did you stay on it longer than a week, what sort of weight did you lose, tell me how you varied the soup, did you use herbs, etc. to change the taste, etc. Oh before being flamed for the staying on more than a week, know it says to stay on only a week but others probably did not go along with this. Thanks everyone!
