I always put them in the lunch boxes with a cold pack. NM

So, June Cleaver... what do you pack for lunch?
Finger sandwiches? Please. It is one meal of the day and kids would eat far worse if given lunch money. Now why don't you run along and iron your aprons or something :)
Deserving of decent jobs at decent wages, even
when their industry has been taken over by greedy corporations and MTSOs sending the work overseas to line their pockets at the expense of their employees and patient safety. That's some bad karma, baby...
Dogs are pack animals. They want to be with their pack, sm
Which in this case is you and the rest of your family. I would suggest putting her crate in an area of the house where you guys are, *especially* at night, so she doesn't feel isolated. Can you put her crate in your bedroom at night, right by your bed?

I also agree with letting her gradually have more and more freedom out of the crate as she matures and is trustworthy not to chew things and is completely housebroken.

My last and probably most important piece of advice is to make sure she's getting plenty of exercise, especially before she goes into the crate. I have 4 indoor dogs, and I've found that exercise is a cure for many, many things. (There's a saying in dogs: "A tired dog is a good dog." So true!) A lot of dogs just simply don't get enough exercise, physical and mental, to tire them out. All that excess energy and frustration has to come out somehow. Maybe that's what's happening with her? Take her for walks, through a ball, etc. I personally use a device called a Springer that attaches to a bicycle and lets me safely take each of my dogs for a nice long run (without wearing me out!) You can find it here: http://www.springerusa.com/ (I do *not* use the safety release that comes with it, and I use a better harness than the one that comes with it, but I have big, strong dogs.)

You can also get a dog backpack for the dog to wear with something in the backpack to add a litte weight and help tire her out more than just walking will.

Some dogs are also just very sensitive to changes in the household. Maybe she's picking up on the hustle and bustle of this time of year and is stressed by it. (If so, exercise with be a release for that.)

Please keep us posted and feel free to share more info. and I may have more ideas. ;o)
It's getting decent here.
Finally days are only getting into the upper 70s and lower 80s, so that's a huge relief.

Last I heard we might get some rain today. That's what we really need.

I love fall.
Go for it. Most states cannot even get decent
immigration reform laws passed because of the business lobby. How about we take all the out of work American and have the states and feds hire them as immigration officers? Then they could have decent benefits and there might be enough manpower to hunt down all the hundreds of thousands illegal immigrants and immigrants who do not speak English (what is that threshold going to be because I know some teenagers who are deficient in this area) and then we can process them all (more jobs for OOW Americans) back to their countries of origin. Of course, we would have to raise everyone's taxes to pay for all the salaries and benefits of all the new government employees, the holding facilities, the transportation and court costs. And of course, prices would go up across the board for goods and services that previously used cheap labor, and all those signs in Spanish and Vietnamese and Portuguese and whatever else can be repainted or reprinted in good ole American English, which our kids won't even be able to read because of the rotten public school systems where we had to pull even more money out of to pay for all the additional immigration reform costs. Then we can write all new, mega-restrictive immigration laws and create new testing centers and monitoring laws and now all the immigrant rounder-uppers can become babysitters, or maybe we could just section off part of the country, say....North Dakota...as a holding area for potential immigrants to stay for an allotted period of time until they are able to pass all the benchmarks for citizenship within the designated time frame. We can implant RFID chips in each one so we can easily track them down if they escape. If they cannot meet the requirements and don't freeze to death or get trampled by a buffalo herd, then they are sent back to their home country to try again in 10 years or never. We can then tear down the Statue of Liberty and return it to France.
I thought Sanjaya did a decent job for once
He really surprised me with tonight's song.  I didn't know he had it in him.  Lakisha has been disappointing me lately.  I love Blake, I think he was awesome tonight and so was Melinda.  The others were just bland IMO.
We do owe our children a decent childhood (sm)
I know you say it didn't matter to you - apparently your mom did a good job raising you on her own. Maybe you weren't that close to your dad. But the best decision is always based on weighing out a combination of circumstances - it is not the same for every person. While yours worked out well for you and your mother and brother, it doesn't always go that way for everyone. If it was that easy, no one would complain, we would just make quick selfish decisions and not worry about anyone else. The fact that some of us are on here complaining is a reflection of us caring about other people, not just ourselves. It means we are thinking things through and taking time to decide, hearing viewpoints of those who have experienced it for themselves and those who have not. Sometimes you don't know which is worse, to stay or to go - you may be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire, so staying isn't necessarily accepting second best. It's a huge, big, important decision and one not to be taken lightly. Not everyone ends up as fortunate as you have and we all know it.
Any decent camera shop
that has any kind of processing service should be able to handle the conversion. You might want to call around and get prices. They probably will charge per slide. Nowadays, they'll probably also put digital versions of the pictures onto a CD for you. They can even create a DVD slideshow with background music. My mother had a bunch of old family slides converted some years ago, onto a VHS tape.

Of course, if you want to do it the REALLY old-fashioned way, and you don't care too much how good the prints are... I once set up the projector and screen, and actually photographed the screen, and thus got prints. At the time, I was on such a tight budget, and the cost of making a print from a slide was something ridiculous, and I only wanted the photos for a reference point, so I could see them without having to set up the equipment every time I needed to refer to one.... I'm sure there are much better options out there nowadays. In fact, I should look into it myself....
That's garbage -
I have never had an accident and never had a ticket. I have been driving since I was about 5 years old, starting out on farm equipment, to help on the family farm.

It's a bunch of bunk in my opinion
Garbage
It sounds like you and I have the same printer! I have had problems with the paper feed since day one. It drives me absolutely nuts.
I don't think it's garbage...

Just like every other platform, it has a few bugs that still need to be worked out but for the most part I like it.

I've been using it for a few months and the only problems I still have are with Java (can't get Pogo games to load for the life of me) and the Rhapsody music service. Everything else turned out to be "administrator" issues and were easily solved. Vista has some pretty cool features too, so it's not all bad.

kids like your daughter are real and decent; I know many just like her.
nm
Have patience. Your time will come to find someone decent.

Just concentrate on your family for now. It's a mad house out there. I can't understand the thinking of people nowadays. Some prince will come along sooner or later (probably later). Don't be in a rush. He will come unexpectedly and you will know it when it happens.

It took me a year of dating jerks and then I stopped dating for 2-1/2 years. I found my prince (my ex-fiance), and we've been back together for over 33 years. Boy, was I young and dumb to give him up! Anyway, I will never hit the dating scene again if anything happens to him. I enjoy peace and quiet. Don't need anyone in my space anymore.

Why are you an audience for this garbage?
How about respect for one's privacy? Or would you be OK with us listening to the worst things you've ever said?

WHY do you people listen to this garbage?
I use the twisties that come in your box of garbage bag.
I tried cable ties, but they don't come apart very easily and I ended up cutting a cable trying to get one off. So I swear by twist ties. Helps to reuse, reduce, recycle. LOL.
Vista is garbage
My husband is in IT and he installed Vista when it first came out.  He very quickly uninstalled it.  It has so many problems, causes so many problems and he pointed out that there are security issues with Vista.  I don't see XP going anywhere as many people who are in positions of powerin companies, like my husband, refuse to use it.  I wouldn't bother wasting your money.
don't listen to this garbage
No, no, no. Do not listen to this. Someone is making a play for your guy. Don't doubt it.
stuck garbage disposal
Never mind, we were able to crack the glass and then get it out.
Works for garbage bags too
If you have 2 or more kids who have to take turns taking out the garbage, assign each a garbage color - you can get them in white, yellow, green and blue that I know of. When the blue kid takes out the garbage, s/he puts in the yellow bag, or whoever's turn it is next. Believe me, they don't forget to change the bags.
Does anyone have Verizon and also their cell phones. Can you tell me if they offer a decent deal if
you have both from them compared to other cell phones. No sure which one to get.
Wash your mouth out! Tiffany's is not garbage!
!!
This is common sense, stop posting this garbage!

The only thing worse than chain emails, is people who pass along chain emails!

Go PACK!

I have and always will be a diehard Packers fan! LOL@ the Vikings fan because my closest friend is also a fan of theirs and it has always been a source of teasing between us! She has come up with some very creative names for the Pack which I cannot repeat here. lol, and the Vikings became the ViQueens through the years. :) All in fun, don't bash me.

I have never seen a broadway play but hope to someday.

Blech! The worst coffee ever. No wonder they're closing stores, who pays for that garbage?

Pack leader
Some dogs are very strong personalities and need to have a strong-minded person as an owner that has no doubt as to who is leader of the pack (and it should not be the dogs). If the dogs are dictating who is allowed in and out and who the territory belongs to, they are in charge and as you pointed out, it isn't the breed so much as the owner.
GO PACK! GO BRETT!
I've been to Lambeau only once but really loved it! Greenbay is about 3 hours from where I used to live so we didn't treck up there much. Especially in the snow!
I would buy a pack, but not 2 packs

Also pack anything you buy in your carry-on - sm
one of my group made the mistake of packing her stuff in her luggage, every single thing was stolen that she bought there. I took mine in my carry-on bag, as did everyone else but her. Just be smart and aware.
I'll help you pack...

This is the first year I haven't had a garden and I'm totally bumming now that everyone's harvest is in.  My downfall are the little sweet cherry tomatoes that are all warm from basking in the sun all day and wicked sweet...I ate so many one year I swear I was pooping crushed tomatoes!  Totally gross but it was what it was.  Man, they really were just like candy!

Congratulations on your harvest!

I just bought a starter pack today
I'm going to give it a whirl. I figure I have about 40 pounds to lose to get back to where I was for most of the years between having my son at age 25 in 1987, and my daughter at age 38 in 2000. After gaining the pregnancy weight in 2000, I really barely lost any of it and now nearly 7 years later am about 10 pounds up from that. So, I'm going for about 40 pounds but 30 would probably make me happy. I figure since I work at home, if I end up with the "alli oops" at least I'm right by the bathroom.
Your post says exactly what mine did. Animals are pack

Guys tend to pack light, and
probably would be embarrassed by something you were calling a hope chest. Nothing wrong with having a bin with practical essentials for them to take with them, but if it goes beyond what they can see they'll need immediately when they venture out on their own, they might leave it behind. And if it is girly or can't take a beating or isn't flexible about going from DW to MW to oven, it's not going to get used IMO.
What's for lunch?
I'm sick of the same ole, same ole . . . need new ideas!
lunch
My husband works 12-hour shifts. He takes 2 meals to work with him. Usually a can of soup, a salad and 2 sandwiches, crackers and a few sodas to last him the 12 hours. For him to eat 2 meals out everyday would be way too expensive.

All through my kids' school years, they asked to carry their lunch. Said the school lunches were too nasty to buy. I made a sandwich, crackers or chips, a piece of fruit and a cookie.

Working at home, I eat whatever is here.

I cook 5 out of 7 dinners a week. Even fast food is getting too expensive with 2 older sons and a husband, usually for the 4 of us and fast food, we spend $25 to $30 per trip.
Midlothian, Virginia - would pack and move back now
if I could!
Pack the cookies in more than 1 reusable container with lots of wax

Lunchables. Lunch box or not? (sm)

I put the grandkids on the bus in the mornings and they like to take lunchables, however they don't want to put them in their insulated lunch bags, just throw them in their back pack.  They insist "everybody" does this.  I am a worry wart when it comes to not keeping food properly refrigerated.

Am I being paranoid, is this safe?

re: lunch while typing
Just FYI....NEVER try to eat ramen noodles while you are typing!!! Not a pretty site...LOLOLOL...just a thought to lighten the load!!! hehehehe
And maybe one of them works during lunch.

lunch ideas
Does anyone have any ideas for quick lunches that are yummy?  I live by myself and really do not cook a big meal that often so leftovers are usually out of the question although family members will bring me some goodies from time to time.  What I really need are good lunch ideas for one person.  I get so tired of eating soup and salads.  Open for suggestions!!  TIA
DH and I are w/my family for lunch

and his for dinner.  I have ex-aunt that still gets invited to holiday get togethers since she was married to my uncle for so long and her kids and now a grandaughter will be with us.  She and a real pain in the but.  Even when it is not her house she tries to dominate everything.  Where everyone should sit, when we should eat, the conversation somehow always revolves around her.  She will ask you a question and even before you finsih answering she is off talking about something else.  We basically just roll our eyes and try to avoid her.  This year she wrote a letter to my mom asking her to  move her Christmas Eve plans to a different time (have been doing the same thing for years) to make it easier on her.  Not going to happen.

At DH's house his mother was in a really pissy mood when we first arrived.  I like her most of the time, but lately I have found that I just tend to tolerate her.  She and I have never had any problems but I think her getting older is starting to take its toll.  She and I differ anyway.  Every Thanksgiving it is the same, everyone that comes brings a couple of dishes but she also does some of the cooking.  She doesn't clean up as she goes along, so the sink is always full of dirty dishes before dinner starts and I can guarantee you when we start to clean up we will find that the electric dishwaher ( I am the human one) is full of clean dishes.  This year as soon as we got there she took a hot pot off the stove and put the food into a serving dish.  I decided to go ahead and wash it.  The pot was extremely hot so I turned on the cold water to cool it off just a bit before I washed it.  She came to the sink and turned the hot water on.  I politely said "I was just trying to cool if off a bit before I stuck my hands in it."  "No, that is not the way I do it".  I was stunned.  I have been married to her son for over 20 years and I always wash the dishes.  I don't mind that I certainly am going to do my part.  But this year I said, "well if you want me to leave these for you to do, fine."  I did help clean up after dinner but I did not put my hands in any dishwater.  Besides they were still a bit pruned from cleaning up after lunch. LOL!

Btw, this is the same woman who gives me something that she collects every year for Christmas even though I and her daughter have very politely let her know this is not something I want.

"I had lunch with a snowman
Cause Big Bird said he's my leader...too funny!
Lunch spending
My husband usually brings leftovers for lunch. I give my daughter $20 for lunch at school (to put in her lunch account), and that usually lasts a week. My other daughter is home by lunchtime and she eats what we have here at home. We spend about $100 a week on groceries. On the weekends we usually go out at least once, maybe twice for lunch and spend anywhere from $15-$25 depending on where we go. My oldest is a vegetarian so we actually save money because if we get takeout, she usually doesn't find anything that she wants to eat. When I was working outside the home I spent way to much on lunch every day, usually about $50 a week.
Can't you pack hot stuff in a thermos? Chili, soup, stew,
