winner, winner, chicken dinner !!

I am so beaming with pride over my dear 8yo son.  He entered a story for the PBS sponsored Reading Rainbow contest and won second place out of over 250 entries.  We'll take that strong second.  The story is absolutely adorable, based on true events.  One day at school, after a set of pretty bad circumstances, he had to tell a lie to his teacher.  He was so tore up about it that he couldn't tell me.  He had never told a lie before in his entire life.  The story he wrote is called "Owl's First Lie."  It is really, really cute, sweet and heartwarming.

So, if anyone wants to view his amazing work, go to www.wgvu.com  Then click on clubhouse, then reading rainbow, then winners.... Third Grade, second place.  Just beaming with pride here, wanted to share with my friends!!

about the prize winning child ---

I don't understand what the issue was below actually.  The boy won a Wii and already had one.  Why should he not be able to return it and get something else?

How many of you would win a car and refuse it because you already had a car?  I for one would not... I would either sell the car and use the money for something I needed/wanted or I would keep the car and sell my other car...

He should not be penalized for winning a prize that is just what he already has - he should be able to enjoy his luck just like any other child would have...

This prize has been awarded, however there are many other prizes still available. Click on the

The fair thing would be to share it and split the prize - sm
good karma and all that. I try to do that though, I have had more bad than good lately. I am expecting a refund of an overcharge today in my account, bank informed me yesterday that the store (7-11) appeared to be refunding in full all four purchases I made on a particular day ( I am disputing 3 charges and only 1 of them partially as I did owe some of the money). If they do refund all I will end up with an extra $120. So if that ends up being the case I will do something with half of that to benefit someone else whether it be a school fundraiser, the local Goodwill, a charity I like to donate to, etc. I try to balance it all out, plus it is nice to be able to help others when you can.
Does anyone have a fav winner?
I hated Richard Hatch (this has nothing to do with his sexuality) and was shocked when he won. Couldn't stand Rob and Amber and was so glad when they lost on the Amazing Race. I have only watched on and off this year, but from last years shows I really liked James. I was very suprised about what Eric did last night. Very gullible!
That's a $10,000 winner if ever I saw one! - nm

Yep, David A has to be the winner. He was last night.
I like David C also, but he just sounded like he was struggling. Just did not seem like he wants to win.
Who do you want to win? Winner announced tonight!! SM
There is no way I could make that decision.  This season has just been amazing.  I must say that Joshua is outstanding and jumps higher than I can believe.  They are all so wonderful.
Winner and runner up for DWTS nm

We play bingo and give out mystery gifts to the winner. Very simple..
Every person who attends the party, bring 1 gift..they are all put under a little table tree and when someone wins a round of bingo, they select gift from under the tree. It can be a lot of fun if you get fun qwirky gifts. We all have a laugh at some of the gifts.
