There are times I would love to stop the growing process

but I look at that as denying my children the incredible happiesses I have experienced, such as college, marriage, children, etc. and that makes it a bit easier.

It's Garmin - I really want one too!! Borrowed a few times & love them! (nm)

I love it too. We go a couple of times a month..

spend about 500 bucks each time. Sometimes we come home with money, sometimes not, that's why they call it gambling. DH has won 2 jackpots this year on a penny machine, first time he put in 40 bucks, was betting 50 cents at a time and hit for 1200 bucks; the second time same thing, hit for 1500 bucks. I usually do pretty well, only play penny machines and have won as much as 800 bucks on one spin. We never spend more than 500 each. It's our vice and we enjoy it. We visit my family every year in Philly and for the 2 weeks we are there we usually gamble at least half the time. We save our money, take a couple of thousand with us for that purpose only and if we win great, if not, that's okay too.

Too funny - I love that movie seen it 5 times
and I still laugh each time. There are so many funny scenes. It is funny though how people have such different tastes because a lot of the movies others hate I love.
We are in the process of listing...sm
a home for sale. Want to make sure I put the listing on as many low-cost websites as I can. It's a long story why we are not on the multiple listing yet. I've listed the house on craigslist and a couple of other classifieds/real estate sites. Anyone have any suggestions for where else might be a good place on the net to post the listing. Working on the free sites first and then will consider which of the paid sites are the wisest choices. If you've ever looked for real estate online, where did you search most often or first?
my husband is in the process right now
He started trying to set one up using Yahoo site builder, but he had some trouble with it not making updates properly (maybe just him, as he has no experience with this, not sure), but then a friend that he works with told him about www.homestead.com and he is getting the domain name he had at Yahoo switched over now. They offer a 30-day free trial, and then I think it is a pretty low monthly charge afterwards. Good luck?
It can be a drawn-out process, but here are some

How Do I Introduce A New Cat To My Presently Owned Cat?
Bringing home an additional cat can be a very exciting event for us humans, however it can be very traumatic for all felines involved. It can end in disaster if not approached carefully! By using the following guidelines below, you can make that transition much easier and have a greater chance at successfully integrating an additional feline into your household.

Pay lots of attention to your existing cat throughout the following procedure, including daily exercise (try a cat aerobics or cat dancer toy). This will help your old cat feel more secure that someone else isn't going to take away your affection.

Have definite, coinciding feeding times for both cats.

Do not at any time physically hold the cats and put them face to face. That is a surefire way to stimulate aggression! Cats are not very forgiving either. If they are started out on the wrong foot, it is very difficult to undo the damage.

Always provide an additional litterbox in a different location. If you have more than two cats, you will need to provide at least one box per cat. This is to prevent territorial disputes over this very important resource. Remember to clean the boxes daily to encourage correct litterbox habits.

STEP ONE: Confine the New Cat to it's own small room.

This is to be your new cat’s "playpen" and safety area. A bathroom, small office or small bedroom where your existing cat normally does not "hang out" are ideal locations for your new cat’s room.

Put a litterbox, bed, food, water, scratching post and toys in the new cat’s room. This special room accomplishes several things. One, it decreases the chances of spreading any possible diseases your new cat may be carrying (remember to keep your new cat confined for approximately ten days even if you are able to complete the following steps in a lesser time period). Two, it helps your new cat get used to the smells, sounds and you, without having to confront a "hostile" greeting party (your existing cat).

Provide your existing cat with his own litterbox, bed, toys, etc. in a different area of the house. He may go the room of your new cat, sniff under the door, hiss and yell but just ignore him when he does so. Do not punish him in any way for hissing or growling at this point. Just walk away from him. Give him attention when he is calm.

STEP TWO: Use Scented Food Dishes

After your new cat has been confined for several days and is not hiding from you or acting nervous, take a small wash cloth, rub it on your new cat and then place it under your "old" cat’s food dish just before feeding time. Now do the opposite for the new cat. If either cat is reluctant to eat, try adding something really special to the cat’s bowl to entice him to eat. (Or put the wash cloth at a distance from his bowl were he will eat quietly. Gradually over the next few days, bring the wash cloth closer and closer until you can finally put it under his dish without any problems.)

Repeat at each feeding (always reviving the scent by rubbing on the opposite cat) until each cat eats calmly with no hesitation, hissing or growling. The more feedings you have per day, the faster the process will go. Just feed smaller amounts spread out over the day. Try to do at least two feedings per day, better yet three or more.

The successful completion of this step may take up to two weeks in some cats or as little as four days with others. In any case, do not move on until each cat is relaxed.

STEP THREE: Use close feedings.

After the successful completion of step three, place each cat’s dish on respective sides of the newcomer’s room. Again, feed definite meals to each cat, at the same time, on each side of their door. You do not need to add the scented cloth under the dish any longer.

Repeat this process until BOTH cats are acting normal; no hesitation to eat, no hissing, growling, spitting etc. then go on to step four.

You can also help this process along by playing daily with each cat under the door with a cat aerobics toy (a rubber pom-pom looking spider on a wire). In the process of playing they will put their paws under the door for the other to see and smell. This may help to engage them in play under the door with each other as well.

STEP FOUR: Play the switch game

If you are starting this step, check to make sure you have had your new cat at least ten days. If it has not been at least ten days, stay on step three until then. Again, this is for concerns of spreading possible disease. If it is over ten days and you are still not at this step, do not worry! Go at your cat’s pace. Your cat will tell you to move on to the next step by acting relaxed and normal.

Step four puts the new cat’s scent all over the territory of your existing cat but without an actual physical confrontation. This is an important step so do not skip it!

Confine your old cat to a comfortable room with a litterbox and some of his favorite food. Let the new cat out to explore by just opening the door to his room. Do not carry him out; as we want him to learn the route to and from his room on his own four feet. Let him wander around for several hours under supervision. Play with him and encourage him to relax. Next, put him away in his room and let your "old" cat out. Your existing cat may walk around the house, sniffing, hissing or growling as he can now certainly smell that "intruder" in all parts of HIS house. That is OK. Let him walk around and act grumpy. Just ignore him or try to get him to play with you to help relax him.

Repeat the switch game daily until BOTH cats are acting normal and are relaxed.

STEP FIVE: Limited Contact

After successful completion of step four, start this next step by putting your new cat back into his safe room. This process will allow the cats to see each other but not make physical contact.

Stack two 36" high-tension gates (baby gates) in the newcomer’s doorway, but with about two inches left at the very bottom. (Enough to get a paw under but not a head.) Gates are available at pet stores, children’s specialty stores or department stores. Or trying borrowing some from your friends.

If you have reason to believe that either cat will get over the gates then use two hard plastic doorstops. Jam the door of the room with the stops one on each side with the door cracked open only two to three inches. Make sure that neither cat can fit his head through the opening. Check that the door is secured and will not suddenly pop open or slam shut if a cat body slams against the door aggressively. They should be able to whack each other with their paws and investigate without full body contact. Again, encourage the cats to play through the door by using a cat aerobics toy put through the opening.

Continue the feeding ritual from step four above but with each cat still on their respective side of the baby gates or jammed door. When you are not home or can not supervise at least peripherally, close the door. Hissing, growling, posturing should be virtually at nil before you continue on to step six.

STEP SIX: Let them meet casually

After the successful completion of ALL the steps above, you are in great shape to now just let the cats casually find each other in the household.

Start first by heavily exercising EACH cat separately, especially if one animal is young and very playful. If one animal wants to play so badly that he harasses the other cat, they can become enemies quite quickly.

Next, get each cat’s food dish ready with something really good, like some bits of tuna or a tablespoon of wet food. Just before feeding time, leave the new cat’s door open or take down the stacked baby gates. Let the cats casually find each other and then feed them a meal, so they are eating about one foot away from each other.

Next, go ahead and get out a cat toy and play with the cats together. The whole process of step six is designed to associate something really pleasant with having this other cat around.

Some cats may hide; there may be some initial hissing or growling. That is OK. Let them work it out as long as no one is launching a full out physical attack on the other. Keep trying to feed them close together as well as play their favorite games with them.

Final Comments

Do not let one cat become a bully.
If one cat always seems to be the aggressor, supervise any cat interaction. Be ready with a squirt bottle set on a straight stream to break up any cat fights. Just make sure it is harassment and not play! Do not leave the cats together unsupervised if you are having this bully problem. Put the bully into confinement when you can not watch them.

Try to exercise the aggressor more heavily before they are allowed to interact.
This often takes off the "edge" and makes the aggressor more agreeable. The disagreeable one can also wear a harness dragging a six-foot leash under supervision. The harness is so you can quickly remove him from the situation. Again try to associate something positive with having the other cat around, like special treats or play.

IMPORTANT:
If you have not carefully followed the guidelines above, go back to the beginning and start over. Be warned that the introduction may take up to three times as long on the second go around as you have to go back and try to repair that "bad first impression." To introduce any new animal into your household takes a lot of time and patience. It can go smoothly if you take your time and follow the steps above. But don’t expect things to be perfect overnight or try to rush things as you may end up with archenemies instead of best friends! We wish you purrfect luck!

I use checks, but have streamlined the process - sm
by filling out everything but the amount (date, signature, phone number) on the check, & entering all info. into my check register except the amount, before even leaving for the store. Check is torn out, and in my wallet where I can just pull it out, write in the total, hand it to the cashier, and take off as soon as she gives me the receipt.

Nowadays their computer/cash machine setup takes only seconds to verify the check. I usually wait to fill in the amount in the check register until I get home.

It's weird, but often I find it takes longer to pay with money than it does with a check. (Especially if I have a bunch of change and I'm trying to pay with the exact amount.) That seems to freak people out in line even more than using a check.

Also, nowadays the checker ends up doing the bagging, too (seems the stores have cut WAY back on hiring baggers.) So as he or she finishes each bag, I put it in the cart from where I'm standing, so he or she doesn't have to walk around the counter to do it. And I grab things like milk jugs, big 12-pack soft-drink cartons, cat litter, and other big things that don't really need a bag.

Anyway, I find doing just those few things seems to get me through the line pretty fast.
Payment process was restructured.

from the time I file until the time it is final, the judge can issue an order forcing him to leave until it is final and a decision is made about splitting the property.

He takes lithium for his bipolar disorder, but yesterday when he was released from jail, he went to the ER because he was apparently vomiting profusely and was found to have lithium toxicity.  So now he's not taking his lithium and I'm sure he will use this as an excuse to not take it anymore.

Oh, please! End times! People have been saying that since the beginning times!
It's just sensationalism. It seems that journalism has gone to a warm place in a handbasket. I briefly majored in journalism back in 1980, and what passes for journalism now would have flunked any of us right our of an entry-level course! It's all sensational reporting, because networks think that brings in the viewers, and thus drives up the advertising price that they can charge during broadcasts.
Another of my pet peeves in "journalism" is the phrase "Unconfirmed sources say . . . " Yeah. Right. Unconfirmed sources is just another way of saying, "Rumor has it . . . "
Next time there is breaking news, listen for it. It's said over and over again, because the networks and stations want to get the news out first. I don't know what happened to fact-checking and pursuit of the truth in journalism, but it's all about getting info out fast, and keeping the public tuned in with the most sensational reports that they can put out there.
Back in the days of the Roman Empire, people were treating each other pretty badly and in unbelievable ways, too. Crucifixion comes to mind. So, I don't really think modern news reports are pointing to end times any more than at any other time in recorded history.

Snowstorms that shut the towns down for days on end. Couldn't get out to go to work unless you worked close to home and could walk. Schools never shut down. Five of us walked a mile a day to school with snow up to our hips. Our lessons for the day? Study hall.

My first car was a ི Chevy coupe. Gas was $.27 a gallon and I chauffered 5 friends to and from school for $.25 a week. On Friday and Sat. nights there was a dance with a group that became 'almost famous.' They got as far as the Steel Pier in Atlantic City dance club. It was a big deal to be on TV in those days. On those nights, I would go to the next town and pick up anybody hitch hiking to the dance. (I wasn't allowed to go to the dances). I wired the car with an older portable record player that only played 45s and kept my records under the seat.Worked great except when I would hit a bump. LOL

when I was growing up

our Monsingor of our church would yell at the parents during the middle of mass because babies were crying in church told them to leave!  Guess he could not tolerate much.

Growing up, did you get along better with your mom or dad?

I got along waaaay better with my dad. My mom was a control freak.

But once I moved out on my own, I got along fine with both of them.

I don't do well with controlling people.

About the 50s, I was growing up then
and most of the women in my home were a) widowed, b) divorced or married and working, in fact all the women worked whether divorced, widowed or married. You were watching a TV show. The women in my life had power and responsibility and I never thought of them as being coddled, kept or irresponsible. I remember as a child when I would say my mother was divorced it was odd for other children (most mothers married then and most stay at home mothers). Kids would want to talk about how I felt as a child of divorce and I always said 1 less parent to say no to me. I have never nor has my husband called me stupid. Name calling is just not done here. My love is the most important thing in my life to me here on earth.
Me neither as my child growing up
things can really change in life.
reminds me of my dog when growing up
my dad did not like him being on the couch and he would jump off when he heard him walking towards the room.  Another favorite was as my dad was coming down the stairs my dad could see him on the couch before entering the room as we had a mirror hanging on the wall...maybe our dog could see him too!
We always had dachshunds growing up...
and I have always felt that they are honorary big dogs!
I can remember growing up that my
sister went through a spell where she would only want to eat one thing. My mom called and talked to the pediatrician, and he told her not to worry about it. When she got hungry enough she would eat whatever was fixed.

When my daughter starts into her stubbon streak (which she inherited from both me and the ex) I just send her to her room and let her wait it out. Back in the day, our parents would probably swat us on our you-know-what and say get over it, but you know today that is abuse.
When I was growing up we had 3 channels but guess what?
I find it tremendously funny when yu0o say a trial shoved down your throat. I have cable and have, oh, over 100 channels. No show is ever shoved down my throats, we just, duh, change the channel or just DON’T watch!!!
I was so glad when mine growing up that
I always had much praise for others they visited/stayed with, in fact I had a problem between my mother and father (them being divorced) because they would be trying to keep a child longer than the other thought they should. I had phone calls saying - he has already had- she has kept him now and so on. Friends told me my kids when visiting sooo good- wondered how I did- the kids now are being brought up so much more different and this is what people can expect. I also know about the saying sparing the rod- right?
what I did growing up really is none of my kids' business.
Here and there I've volunteered information and shared stories that actually do lend validity to my opinions and the rules I have set for my kids. But I have to tell you that I was really a pretty good kid. I have maybe only one or two regrets, but I haven't shared those with my kids. And if they asked me about them, I'd lie and say nope, never did that.
All of this makes me think how lucky I was growing up.
My father was a wonderful man. He loved women. And by that I mean that he had the greatest respect for women. I was his only daughter, and I can't count how many times he told me that women were generally smarter, more capable and able to handle more than men. He was full of admiration for the women in his life. Long before Tom Cruise and "Jerry Maguire", my father used to say, "Men and women complete each other."
Because of my father's attitude, I grew up believing that I was special, and I'm sure it saved me from a lot of heartbreak and helped me to form health relationships with the men in my life.
The women in these polygamist situations are raised up to be this way. They just don't know any better. I believe they are brainwashed by these sick, despicable, poor excuses for men. I hope that they can get themselves and their children out of this situation. Unfortunately, it looks like many of them want to hold onto the only thing that they know.
She won't grow to fit her tank, she will just keep growing....
But eventually she has to stop growing some time. I really think she has probably grown as much as she is going to. If she has to go to a bigger tank yet, we may have to see if our local zoo will take her. The tanks are the biggest outlay. I get all her rocks free from our local monument maker and a quarry. I buy a bottle of the stuff to kill the chlorine and use our city water.

Cleaning her tank is not too bad as we have a gravel vacuum. We don't fill the tank all the way up, only about 2/3 full. They need at least the width of their shell for the depth of the water in case they flip over on their back. Otherwise they can't flip themselves over. We do a partial tank change. Just enough to suck up the "poop" and food scraps. Then we replace it.

Other than her lights burning out once in a while, she is pretty low mainatenance. And fun to watch. Especially when she chases the goldfish. LOL
There is a growing body of evidence
that circumcision is simply not worth the risks. Among clinical investigators, not just "kidhealth dot com."

If the risks of bleeding or infection are higher with circumcision as an adult, then for heaven's sake, don't do it then, either! Unless, obviously, there is a surgical indication for it.

I repeat: Having a foreskin is not a surgical indication.
We were told a lot of things growing up
such as wearing gloves to church but do you think people do that now? Did we show up in church years ago in pants (say the 60s, 70s), most did not but probably common now. Having said that I do not think by any means cursing only means you have a limited use of the English language. If anything I throw out words loads of time my husband asks me to "break it down for him" or "use English" and I am not talking cursing. If anything, another term for MTers are language specialists which I think applies to most who do this job. Next assumption.
I was bullied in school growing up
My mom contacted the bully's mom and the mom asked her daughter if he had been doing what I said. Her daughter said no and she said to my mom I believe my child.
I yelled at daughter when she was growing up. I'm not

What do you think of that lash growing medication?
I've seen the commercial but cannot remember the name of the med, but it's for growing lashes.  It may cause (possibly) reversible eyelid darkening and permanent discoloration of the iris.  Would people really want those potential risks and/or side effects?  I mean, you're messing with your sight here.  I've always had long lashes and find them a pain at times - they curl the wrong way and poke your eye and you have to pluck them (ouch), they catch on your glasses, etc.  I can't help but feel that we'll find out 10 years down the road that med cause some kind of cancer.
Not unusual at all - my DH had one growing up and still talks about how smart it was! (nm)
.
My husband growing up lived on a farm where
his father raised black angus cattle. You cannot get a better cut of meat than that except for the extra expensive Koba (spelling?) maybe. He and his siblings told me,they got so tired of having steaks, etc. all the time and welcomed bologna instead. Now way past childhood, my husband loves a good bologna sandwich because years ago it was like a treat for the kids to get instead of the steaks all the time.
This reminds me of a lady I knew growing up...

She would eat almost the entire plate of food, and then find "something" in it and say she's not paying for it...  the "something" happened to always be in the last bite...

It's called cheapskate not quirky...

As far as putting breadsticks in my purse, I'd imagine the butter would go everywhere.  Why not ask for a take out package instead?

Sugar packets - that's going a bit far......

I also knew of a man who would break off celery in the grocery store, throw it in the bottom of the cart, and then leave the store - he didn't want to pay for the entire thing and only needed one stalk or so...  again, cheapskate....  the bad part about that is he handled it, put it back on the shelf, and someone is getting ripped off who buys that stalk...

Which reminds me, always pick from the back and bottom; that's the freshest produce!

Any avid gardners with advice on growing great cantaloupes? sm
I seem to be able to grow everything but these.  It seems something always gets them about 2 weeks before they are ready to harvest.  I live in mid AL.  What can I do to successfully grow one of these wonderful, yummy things?
you can give the people the facts, but the decision making process should be left to the people

This is what our country is founded on FREEDOM OF CHOICE!   I'm laughing already; you are just as mortal as the rest of us, and don' even attempt to that you've never done anything in your lifetime that was unsafe or unhealthy. NOT gonna buy it.

I LOVE love love shallots! I use them in everything that calls for an onion and/or garlic. Mmmmmm. n

American Idol - Love, love, love Adam!!!
I think he'll make it til the end! At least I hope so!

yep, so will probably have to stop
reading the posts and get some work done. LOL.
stop it
Stop sitting back waiting for him to do something - it seems like you have to have his approval for everything - even to be upset - Stop waiting for him to change because he probably won't. Some people have suggested that he is abusive - I'm not sure about that because it seems like you ASK for something, he says no and that is the end of it. . STOP ASKING. She's your sister - for most people, this would not be a big deal. . For once, just tell him she is coming and you will be spending time with her. . Maybe his reaction won't be that bad, and if it is, so what?? Are you afraid of him?
STOP IT
quit putting yourself down - Your child will never hate you - your husband will not hate you - You have done nothing wrong.. SOME people today do put too much emphasis on material things -but you know as well as I do that material things are not that important. . Your heart is what is important. . Love your child and husband and continue being the good person you are - Do you think those people are better than you because they have a lot of land? No - they may have more money but they are no better - and from the way they treat other people - it sounds like they are not as good as you. . And the gifts you gave the child were fine - people would be a lot better off playing board games with their kids than letting them play video games all the time.
Stop yelling.
Just because your dog is your best friends, doesn't mean you should bring it everywhere you go. Wow. Try breathing deep and relaxing. I said I don't normally care, but if I had a slipper dog, I wouldn't bring it where it doesn't belong personally.

Trying to stop smoking
I haven't smoked today! I am trying to quit. Have tried several times before, but this time I have to do it!
Stop beating yourself up....
I have been following since your first post. You asked for opinions, which you got, and you also got a lot more. I wish mothers were more supportive of each other. We truely have the hardest job in the world and I think we have all made choices that we have second guessed or I know other mothers would not have made.

When I was 13 (I am now 40) and in junior high I was "paddeled" while wearing a cheerleading skirt. I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and was gathered up with several other students (who really weren't doing anything wrong) and we were all paddeled. I said something to my parents about the fact that I had a couple of welts on my thighs and they told me that was my fault since I obviously did something wrong in order to get paddeled. I got an apology from the vice principal so evidentally my parents realized they needed to stand up for me. My parents now sing a totally different tune. I have wonderful parents (father and step-moter)now, they just made some, in my opinion, wrong decisions when I was younger. They now talk about how they wish they had parented me differently. I am not saying you made the wrong decision...we don't have paddeling in our school system so I don't know whatI would do. Now just move on, it is over with, can't change it, and I can honestly say the paddeling had no lasting affect on me.
Then she should stop going out if she knows the commotion she causes
I realize that the press and photographers should leave her alone. God only knows I'd have a nervous breakdown if I ever had to endure her life, but under the circumstances, if I was just released from the hospital and had psychiatric problems, I would go home and try to keep a low profile for a while to try to heal and try to put her life back in order. It seems like the minute she got out of the hospital, there was was driving all over LA going here and there (or wherever she is in CA with yet another man). Stay home and you won't be followed. Some one on one of the talk shows said she brings a lot of this on herself, and I agree. Someone also said she should just get away out of the country to some little part of the world where she can be secluded and where not many people know her (although I think it would be hard to find a place like that).
No they don't and you somehow need to make it stop
because this is very degrading to you? Has he always been like this? There have to be some 'safe' things he does to show his love/affection, etc., that don't make you feel like the next step is directly to the bedroom....!!!
If you don't stop crying, I am just going to

STOP!!!! BETTER TAKE A CLOSER LOOK
This is what I found when researching this:

Just Wondering asked the question; Do the Heat Surge Fireless Flame heaters that the Amish sell really work?
It is being advertised in the local paper (The Herald-Dispatch,Huntingto n , WV ). That it is a Miracle Heater. Saves Money: uses less energy than a coffee maker. Stay really warm and slash your heating bill all at the same time. It uses 1500 watts. It is 5119 btu. My question is. Is this really a Miracle Heater? Should I buy one for every room in my house and turn off the heat pump?

The ads (which are all over the country) are very misleading.

1. A coffee maker uses a large amount of electricity for about a minute. It's true that the so-called "miracle" heater uses less electricity than a coffee maker DURING THAT ONE MINUTE. But you're going to have the heater running for a lot longer than one minute a day. So it's going to cost you a lot more to operate than a coffee maker does.

The heater will cost you around 12 cents per hour to operate. The average cost of electricity in the U.S. is 8 cents per 1,000 watts per hour, so 1,500 watts costs 12 cents per hour on average. This is true for ANY 1,500 watt electric heater.

2. The ads say that the heater produces an "amazing" 5,119 BTU (a measure of heat energy), but ALL 1,500 watt electric heaters produce 5,119 BTU. If an electric heater was 100% efficient, it would convert 1,500 watts of electricity into 5,120 BTU of heat. All electric heaters are nearly 100% efficient, and this has been true for decades. The "miracle" heater is no more efficient than any other electric heater.

3. The website of the heater's manufacturer (Heat Surge, a company in Ohio that has nothing to do with the Amish) is much more honest than the ads. It states clearly that the way the heater saves you money is if you turn off your central heat, buy one heater, use it to heat one room at a time, and move the heater from room to room as you move around. This is called "zone heating." See the Saves Money section of the website (www.heatsurge.com).

This is true, but it's also true for ANY electric heater. The problem is that a lot of people don't like to have just one room of their house warm while all the others are cold.

You DON'T want to heat your entire house by putting an electric heater in each room. That would cost you far more than central heat. Gas central heat, for example, would cost around half as much as having an electric heater in each room. (The exact amount varies depending on what part of the country you live in.)

If you want to get one heater and move it around with you, that would be cheaper than central heat, but you can get a lightweight 1,500 watt / 5,119 BTU electric heater with a fan for under $100 at your local hardware store, while the "miracle" heater costs $350 including shipping. The heater at your local hardware store won't have the Amish-made mantle and the fake flames, but it will work just as well. Make sure to get one with a fan, since it will warm up the room faster, although fans can be noisy.
