They really are not that bad - sm

I ended up having 3 with my first delivery when I did not want to have any either, doctor missed the spot the first time (at least did not work--he was a real jerk arguing with the nurses the who time he was doing this), second attempt was just fine and worked great. I ended up needing a D&C right after giving birth due to a rare complication, I had the choice of them knocking me out or doing another epidural (they'd already removed it so had to have it done all over again), I just went that route as it was easier for everyone involved and less of a risk then general anesthetic. It does slow down the labor though, my second time around I'd say it slowed things down by about 4 hours but I felt no pain. I had relatively short labors though 8 hours the first time and about 7 the second time (that is with pushing time of 34 minutes and 7 minutes). I like to think I could have done it w/o it, but realistically I am not so sure. But in any case it really is not bad and only hurts slightly for a few seconds.
